  • Why JPA injection not works on @PersistentUnit

    - by Dewfy
Hello colleagues! It is continues of question ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2570976/struts-2-bean-is-not-created ) I'm using struts2 + toplink in my very simple web application under Tomcat. On the page I would like use iteration tag. That is why I've declared some factory (SomeFactory) that resolves collection of entities (Entity). Per article: http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/web.1013/b28221/usclient005.htm#CIHCEHHG the only thing I need is declaration: @PersistenceContext(unitName="name_in_persistence_xml") public class SomeFactory { @PersistenceUnit(unitName="name_in_persistence_xml") EntityManagerFactory emf; public EntityManager getEntityManager() { assert(emf != null); //HERE every time it is null return emf.createEntityManager(); } public Collection<Entity> getAll() { return getEntityManager().createNamedQuery("Entity.findAll").getResultList(); } } What is wrong? May be i miss something in web.xml? How to pre-init toplink for web application to allow injection happen?

  • jQuery default/placeholder input text and problems with saved information

    - by user318106
Hey Guys, I'm new to jQuery and have an annoying problem. I have some login fields that are filled with default text when the field is empty and then removed when clicked. My problem is that when the user has their username/password saved (with browser), if they return to the page the login fields are filled with the users saved input as well as the default input. $('#login input.text').each(function(i, field) { field = $(field); if (field.val().length 0) { field.prev().css('display', 'none'); } field.focus(function() { field.prev().css('display', 'none'); }).blur(function() { if (field.val() == '') field.prev().css('display', 'block'); }); })

  • Best approach to create a security environment in Java

    - by Tom Brito
I need to create a desktop application that will run third party code, and I need to avoid the third party code from export by any way (web, clipboard, file io) informations from the application. Somethig like: public class MyClass { private String protectedData; public void doThirdPartyTask() { String unprotedtedData = unprotect(protectedData); ThirdPartyClass.doTask(unprotectedData); } private String unprotect(String data) { // ... } } class ThirdPartyClass { public static void doTask(String unprotectedData) { // Do task using unprotected data. // Malicious code may try to externalize the data. } } I'm reading about SecurityManager and AccessControler, but I'm still not sure what's the best approach to handle this. What should I read about to do this implementation?

  • Accessing the Identity object in a MVC repository

    - by Rod
Hi, I have a pretty generic repository that does basic CRUD for many of my business entities. The entities enherit form a generic object that has a few fields I maintain for all objects. eg. ModifiedBy, CreatedBy, CreatedDate, ModifiedDate. These fields ModifiedBy and CreatedBy will always be set before any update/save. My questions is: Is there any way to gain access to the Identity object from my MVC web application in my repositories? I was hoping to set the modifiedby to the identity user for any update in one shot?? Best Regard, Rod

  • How to declare a generic constraint that is a generic type

    - by HackedByChinese
I have a two generic abstract types: Entity and Association. Let's say Entity looks like this: public class Entity<TId> { //... } and Association looks like this: public class Association<TEntity, TEntity2> { //... } How do I constrain Association so they can be of any Entity? I can accomplish it by the following: public class Association<TEntity, TId, TEntity2, TId2> where TEntity : Entity<TId> where TEntity2: Entity<TId2> { //... } This gets very tedious as more types derive from Association, because I have to keep passing down TId and TId2. Is there a simpler way to do this, besides just removing the constraint?

  • How to pass an event to a method and then subscribe to it?

    - by Ryan Peschel
Event Handler public void DeliverEvent(object sender, EventArgs e) { } #1: This Works public void StartListening(Button source) { source.Click += DeliverEvent; } #2: And so does this.. public void StartListening(EventHandler eventHandler) { eventHandler += DeliverEvent; } But in #2, you cannot call the method because if you try something like this: StartListening(button.Click); You get this error: The event 'System.Windows.Forms.Control.Click' can only appear on the left hand side of += or -= Is there any way around that error? I want to be able to pass the event and not the object housing the event to the StartListening method.

  • MVC Entity Model not showing my table

    - by Jessica
I have a database with multiple tables, and some basic relationships. Here is an example of the problem I am having: My Database: **Org** ID Name etc **Detail1** ID D1name **Org_Detail1** Org_ID Detail1_ID **Detail2** ID D2Name **Org_Detail2** Org_ID Detial1_ID BooleanField My problem is, the Org_detail1 table is not showing up in the entity model, but the Org_Details2 table does. I thought it may have been because the Org_Detail1 table only contains two ID fields that are both primary keys, while the Org_Details2 table contains 2 primary key ID fields as well as a boolean field. If I add a dummy field to Org_detail1 and update it, it still won't show up and wont allow me to add a new entity relating to the Org_Detail1 table. The table won't even show up in the list, but it is listed under the tables. Is there any solution to get this table to appear in my model?

  • How to load a configuration file at startup within tomcat

    - by Alex
    I want to be able to load my configuration for the webapp at startup of tomcat (apache commons configuration library) is this a possible way: public class MyAppCfg implements javax.servlet.ServletContextListener { private ServletContext context = null; @Override public void contextInitialized(ServletContextEvent event) { try{ this.context = event.getServletContext(); XMLConfiguration config = new XMLConfiguration("cfg.xml"); config.setReloadingStrategy(new FileChangedReloadingStrategy()); this.context.setAttribute("mycfg", config); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } @Override public void contextDestroyed(ServletContextEvent arg0) { this.context = null; } } web.xml <listener> <listener-class>mypackage.MyAppCfg</listener-class> </listener> and later acces them in the webapp via this.cfg = (XMLConfiguration) servletRequest.getAttribute("mycfg");

  • Deserialize Stream to List<T> or any other type

    - by Sam
Attempting to deserialize a stream to List<T> (or any other type) and am failing with the error: The type arguments for method 'Foo.Deserialize<T>(System.IO.Stream)' cannot be inferred from the usage. Try specifying the type arguments explicitly. This fails: public static T Deserialize<T>(this Stream stream) { BinaryFormatter bin = new BinaryFormatter(); return (T)bin.Deserialize(stream); } But this works: public static List<MyClass.MyStruct> Deserialize(this Stream stream) { BinaryFormatter bin = new BinaryFormatter(); return (List<MyClass.MyStruct>)bin.Deserialize(stream); } or: public static object Deserialize(this Stream stream) { BinaryFormatter bin = new BinaryFormatter(); return bin.Deserialize(stream); } Is it possible to do this without casting, e.g. (List<MyStruct>)stream.Deserialize()?

  • (C++) Linking with namespaces causes duplicate symbol error

    - by user577072
Hello. For the past few days, I have been trying to figure out how to link the files for a CLI gaming project I have been working on. There are two halves of the project, the Client and the Server code. The client needs two libraries I've made. The first is a general purpose game board. This is split between GameEngine.h and GameEngine.cpp. The header file looks something like this namespace gfdGaming { // struct sqr_size { // Index x; // Index y; // }; typedef struct { Index x, y; } sqr_size; const sqr_size sPos = {1, 1}; sqr_size sqr(Index x, Index y); sqr_size ePos; class board { // Prototypes / declarations for the class } } And the CPP file is just giving everything content #include "GameEngine.h" type gfdGaming::board::functions The client also has game-specific code (in this case, TicTacToe) split into declarations and definitions (TTT.h, Client.cpp). TTT.h is basically #include "GameEngine.h" #define TTTtar "localhost" #define TTTport 2886 using namespace gfdGaming; void* turnHandler(void*); namespace nsTicTacToe { GFDCON gfd; const char X = 'X'; const char O = 'O'; string MPhostname, mySID; board TTTboard; bool PlayerIsX = true, isMyTurn; char Player = X, Player2 = O; int recon(string* datHolder = NULL, bool force = false); void initMP(bool create = false, string hn = TTTtar); void init(); bool isTie(); int turnPlayer(Index loc, char lSym = Player); bool checkWin(char sym = Player); int mainloop(); int mainloopMP(); }; // NS I made the decision to put this in a namespace to group it instead of a class because there are some parts that would not work well in OOP, and it's much easier to implement later on. I have had trouble linking the client in the past, but this setup seems to work. My server is also split into two files, Server.h and Server.cpp. Server.h contains exactly: #include "../TicTacToe/TTT.h" // Server needs a full copy of TicTacToe code class TTTserv; struct TTTachievement_requirement { Index id; Index loc; bool inUse; }; struct TTTachievement_t { Index id; bool achieved; bool AND, inSameGame; bool inUse; bool (*lHandler)(TTTserv*); char mustBeSym; int mustBePlayer; string name, description; TTTachievement_requirement steps[safearray(8*8)]; }; class achievement_core_t : public GfdOogleTech { public: // May be shifted to private TTTachievement_t list[safearray(8*8)]; public: achievement_core_t(); int insert(string name, string d, bool samegame, bool lAnd, int lSteps[8*8], int mbP=0, char mbS=0); }; struct TTTplayer_t { Index id; bool inUse; string ip, sessionID; char sym; int desc; TTTachievement_t Ding[8*8]; }; struct TTTgame_t { TTTplayer_t Player[safearray(2)]; TTTplayer_t Spectator; achievement_core_t achievement_core; Index cTurn, players; port_t roomLoc; bool inGame, Xused, Oused, newEvent; }; class TTTserv : public gSserver { TTTgame_t Game; TTTplayer_t *cPlayer; port_t conPort; public: achievement_core_t *achiev; thread threads[8]; int parseit(string tDat, string tsIP); Index conCount; int parseit(string tDat, int tlUser, TTTplayer_t** retval); private: int parseProto(string dat, string sIP); int parseProto(string dat, int lUser); int cycleTurn(); void setup(port_t lPort = 0, bool complete = false); public: int newEvent; TTTserv(port_t tlPort = TTTport, bool tcomplete = true); TTTplayer_t* userDC(Index id, Index force = false); int sendToPlayers(string dat, bool asMSG = false); int mainLoop(volatile bool *play); }; // Other void* userHandler(void*); void* handleUser(void*); And in the CPP file I include Server.h and provide main() and the contents of all functions previously declared. Now to the problem at hand I am having issues when linking my server. More specifically, I get a duplicate symbol error for every variable in nsTicTacToe (and possibly in gfdGaming as well). Since I need the TicTacToe functions, I link Client.cpp ( without main() ) when building the server ld: duplicate symbol nsTicTacToe::PlayerIsX in Client.o and Server.o collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Command /Developer/usr/bin/g++-4.2 failed with exit code 1 It stops once a problem is encountered, but if PlayerIsX is removed / changed temporarily than another variable causes an error Essentially, I am looking for any advice on how to better organize my code to hopefully fix these errors. Disclaimers: -I apologize in advance if I provided too much or too little information, as it is my first time posting -I have tried using static and extern to fix these problems, but apparently those are not what I need Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read all of this and respond =)

  • How to direct people to fill out a form

    - by Solmead
What is the best way to get people to fill out a form correctly? For instance I originally had a "Name" field on a form and I want 1 person per form. People filled it out like this: "Mark & Becky Newsman". So I broke it into 2 fields, "First Name" and "Last Name", And people are still filling it out wrong, like "First Name" = "Mark & Becky", "Last Name" = "Newsman". Are there any recommendations on how better to get people to understand that only one person's name should go there? I currently have it on two lines, would it work better to put both fields on one line? If this is on the wrong site go ahead and move it to the correct site.

  • Windows Azure access POST data

    - by Mohamed Nuur
Ok, so I can't seem to find decent Windows Azure examples. I have a simple hello world application that's based on this tutorial. I want to have custom output instead of JSON or XML. So I created my interface like: [ServiceContract] public interface IService { [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(UriTemplate = "session/create", Method = "POST")] string createSession(); } public class MyService : IService { public string createSession() { // get access to POST data here: user, pass string sessionid = Session.Create(user, pass); return "sessionid=" + sessionid; } } For the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to access the POST data. Please help. Thanks!

  • C#: Problem trying to resolve a class when two namespaces are simmilar.

    - by rally25rs
I'm running into an issue where I can't make a reference to a class in a different namespace. I have 2 classes: namespace Foo { public class Class1 { ... } } namespace My.App.Foo { public class Class2 { public void SomeMethod() { var x = new Foo.Class1; // compile error! } } } The compile error is: The type or namespace name 'Class1' does not exist in the namespace 'My.App.Foo' In this situation, I can't seem to get Visual Studio to recognize that "Foo.Class1" refers to the first class. If I mouse-over "Foo", it shows that its trying to resolve that to "My.App.Foo.Class1" If I put the line: using Foo; at the top of the .cs file that contains Class2, then it also resolves that to "My.App.Foo". Is there some trick to referencing the right "Foo" namespace without just renaming the namespaces so they don't conflict? Both of these namespaces are in the same assembly.

  • When should I consider representing the primary-key ...?

    - by JMSA
When should I consider representing the primary-key as classes? Should we only represent primary keys as classes when a table uses composite-key? For example: public class PrimaryKey { ... ... ...} Then private PrimaryKey _parentID; public PrimaryKey ParentID { get { return _parentID; } set { _parentID = value; } } And public void Delete(PrimaryKey id) {...} When should I consider storing data as comma-separated values in a column in a DB table rather than storing them in different columns?

  • Can I "inherit" a delegate? Looking for ways to combine Moq and MSpec without conflicts around It...

    - by Tomas Lycken
I have started to use MSpec for BDD, and since long ago I use Moq as my mocking framework. However, they both define It, which means I can't have using Moq and using Machine.Specifications in the same code file without having to specify the namespace explicitly each time I use It. Anyone who's used MSpec knows this isn't really an option. I googled for solutions to this problem, and this blogger mentions having forked MSpec for himself, and implemented paralell support for Given, When, Then. I'd like to do this, but I can't figure out how to declare for example Given without having to go through the entire framework looking for references to Establish, and changing code there to match that I want either to be OK. For reference, the Establish, Because and It are declared in the following way: public delegate void Establish(); public delegate void Because(); public delegate void It(); What I need is to somehow declare Given, so that everywhere the code looks for an Establish, Given is also OK.

  • Copying a Polymorphic object in C++

    - by doron
I have base-class Base from which is derived Derived1, Derived2 and Derived3. I have constructed an instance for one of the the derived classes which I store as Base* a. I now need to make a deep copy of the object which I will store as Base* b. As far as I know, the normal way of copying a class is to use copy constructors and to overload operator=. However since I don't know whether a is of type Derived1, Derived2 or Derived3, I cannot think of a way of using either the copy constructor or operator=. The only way I can think of to cleanly make this work is to implement something like: class Base { public: virtual Base* Clone() = 0; }; and the implement Clone in in the derived class as in: class Derivedn : public Base { public: Base* Clone() { Derived1* ret = new Derived1; copy all the data members } }; Java tends to use Clone quite a bit is there more of a C++ way of doing this?

  • Pass Value between MDI Child in WinForm using C#

    - by abhilashca
I have an MDI Parent, containing a MenuStrip. When I click on one of the Menu, two Child Forms are displayed simultaneoulsy. I have a TextBox and a Send Button on one of my ChildForm. When I type-in something in that TextBox and Click the Send Button, I need to show that value in the TextBox of my Second Child Form. What I had done is, I wrote a Public Function in the Second Child Form and tried to invoke it by creating an object of Second Form, on the Send Button click event. When I put break points, in that Public Function, I find that the control is flowing through that Public function on cliking the Send button. But the passed value is not displayed. And, I know that is not the standard way to do that. Any sample script for help? Thanks.

  • Error implementing Dynamic Tab with ListView within each Tab - Tabs don't show up

    - by Jon
I am trying to create a dyanmic tab application that has tabs on the left for each type of Food (e.g. Pasta, Dairy, etc. including those dynamically defined by user) and for each tab, have a listview connected to a SQLite database that updates. This is in the onCreate method: setContentView(R.layout.foodCabinet_layout); dbHelper = new FoodStorageDBHelper(this); dbHelper.open(); Cursor foodTypes = dbHelper.getAllFoodTypes(); ArrayList<String> typeOfFood = new ArrayList<String>(); typeOfFoods.add(foodTypes.getString(1)); while(foodTypes.moveToNext()){ typeOfFoods.add(foodTypes.getString(1)); } final TabHost tbh = (TabHost)findViewById(R.id.food_tabhost_cabinet); tbh.setup(); for(final String s : typeOfFood){ TabSpec nts = tbh.newTabSpec(s); nts.setIndicator(s.replace('_', ' ')); nts.setContent(new TabHost.TabContentFactory(){ public View createTabContent(String tag) { ListView foodCabinetLV = new ListView(FoodCabinet.this); Cursor mCursor = dbHelper.getAllFoodsWithType(s); // Create an array to specify the fields we want to display in the list (only TITLE) String[] from = new String[]{FoodStorageDBHelper.KEY_NAME, FoodStorageDBHelper.KEY_YEAR,FoodStorageDBHelper.KEY_RANK}; // and an array of the fields we want to bind those fields to (in this case just text1) int[] to = new int[]{R.id.childname,R.id.childyear,R.id.childrank}; // Now create a simple cursor adapter and set it to display SimpleCursorAdapter notes = new SimpleCursorAdapter(FoodCabinet.this, R.layout.food_row, mCursor, from, to); foodCabinetLV.setAdapter(notes); startManagingCursor(mCursor); foodCabinetLV.setOnItemClickListener( new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView arg0, View arg1, int arg2, long arg3) { Intent i = new Intent(); i.setClass(arg0.getContext(), EditFoodDialog.class); i.putExtra(FoodStorageDBHelper.KEY_ROWID, Long.toString(arg3)); startActivityForResult(i, LoadFoodOrganizer.ACTIVITY_EDIT); } }); return foodCabinetLV; } }); } For some reason, it doesn't show anything... it's a blank screen. Any help would be very much appreciated. Let me know! Thanks! Jon
