  • Inserting records in Mysql with INSERT IGNORE and NULL values

    - by Homer1980ar
I have a partitioned table InnoDB with several fields. I'm trying to avoid duplicates on insert. Let's say: Field1 int null Field2 int null Field3 int null Field4 int null Field5 int null I have created a UNIQUE index on those fields. I try to insert some records with NULL values and then try to reinsert them with IGNORE feature on MySql. Unfortunately it seems to replicated the records when using NULL values. If I try with zeros instead of NULL cases everything works, but I do need the nulls there. Any idea? Thanks, Leonardo

  • what is the exact difference between PHP static class and singleton class

    - by Saif Bechan
I have always used a Singleton class for a registry object in PHP. As all Singleton classes I think the main method looks like this: class registry { public static function singleton() { if( !isset( self::$instance ) ) { self::$instance = new registry(); } return self::$instance; } public function doSomething() { echo 'something'; } } So whenever I need something of the registry class I use a function like this: registry::singleton()->doSomethine(); Now I do not understand what the difference is between creating just a normal static function. Will it create a new object if I just use a normal static class. class registry { public static function doSomething() { echo 'something'; } } Now I can just use: registry::doSomethine(); Can someone explain to me what the function is of the singleton class. I really do not understand this.

  • WCF: generic list serialized to array

    - by OpticalDelusion
So I am working with WCF and my services return types that contain generic lists. WCF is currently converting these to arrays over the wire. Is there a way I configure WCF to convert them back to lists afterwards? I know there is a way by clicking advanced when you add a service reference but I am looking for a solution in configuration files or something similar. [DataContract(IsReference = true)] public class SampleObject { [DataMember] public long ID { get; private set; } [DataMember] public ICollection<AnotherObject> Objects { get; set; } } It is very odd, also, because one service returns it as a list and the other as an array and I am pretty sure they are configured identically.

  • jQuery Validate - Require at least one from group, plus additional items.

    - by Kevin Pullin
I'm attempting to use 'jQuery Validate' on a form that requires an email address plus either all items of a shipping address completed or none at all. Using the sample provided by the solution to this question: jQuery Validate - “Either skip these fields, or fill at least X of them”, I have been able to successfully solve the validation of the address group. The problem, however, is that the logic for validating the email address field does not work. From debugging the Validate scripts, the "re-entrant" validation code triggered by calling 'fields.data('being_validated', true).valid();' in the linked example results in a reset of all previously validated errors (i.e. the email validation error is cleared). I have modified some existing samples, the first in which removes the offending line and the second with it included. Email Validation Working Email Validation Fails Any tips or suggestions on how to properly solve this or work around the failure?

  • Java Box Class: Unsolvable: aligning components to the left or right

    - by user323186
I have been trying to left align buttons contained in a Box to the left, with no success. They align left alright, but for some reason dont shift all the way left as one would imagine. • Swing object: first setText() gets "stuck" when using Mac Java SE 6

    - by Tim
    Hi there, I am a Java newbie trying to maintain an application that works fine under J2SE 5.0 (32- and 64-bit) but has a very specific problem when run under Java SE 6 64-bit: [Tims-MPB:~] tlynch% java -version java version "1.6.0_15" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_15-b03-226) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.1-b02-92, mixed mode) The application is cross-platform and reportedly works correctly on Java SE 6 under Windows, though I haven't been able to verify that myself. The program uses a JTextField for some text entry and a JLabel to indicate the text to be entered. The first time the showDialog() method is called to set the label text and display the dialog, it works correctly, but subsequent calls all result in the display of the label from the initial invocation rather than the one most recently specified via setText(). public void showDialog(String msgText) { System.out.println("set ChatDialog: " + msgText); jLabel1.setText(msgText); jLabel1.repaint(); // I added this; it didn't help System.out.println("get ChatDialog: " + jLabel1.getText()); super.setVisible(true); } [the full text of the class is provided below] The added printlns validate that expected text is passed to the label's setText() method and is confirmed by retrieving it using getText(), but what shows up on the screen/GUI is always the text from the very first time the method was called for the object. A similar issue is observed with a JTextArea used to label another dialog box. These problem are consistent across multiple Mac systems running Java SE 6 under OS 10.5.x and 10.6.x, but they are never observed when one reverts to J2SE 5.0. If there is some background information pertinent to this problem that I have omitted, please let me know. Any insights or advice appreciated. package gui; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.KeyEvent; import javax.swing.*; // Referenced classes of package gui: // MyJPanel, ChatDialog_jTextField1_keyAdapter, WarWindow public class ChatDialog extends JDialog { public ChatDialog(JFrame parent, WarWindow w) { super(parent, true); text = ""; borderLayout1 = new BorderLayout(); jPanel1 = new MyJPanel(); borderLayout2 = new BorderLayout(); jPanel2 = new MyJPanel(); jPanel3 = new MyJPanel(); jLabel1 = new JLabel(); jTextField1 = new JTextField(); warWindow = w; try { jbInit(); } catch(Exception exception) { System.out.println("Problem with ChatDialog init"); exception.printStackTrace(); } return; } public String getText() { return text; } void jTextField1_keyPressed(KeyEvent e) { int id = e.getKeyCode(); switch(id) { case 10: // '\n' text = jTextField1.getText(); setVisible(false); break; } } private void jbInit() throws Exception { setLocation(232, 450); setSize(560, 60); setModal(true); setResizable(false); setUndecorated(true); getContentPane().setLayout(borderLayout1); jPanel1.setLayout(borderLayout2); jPanel2.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(10, 20)); jPanel2.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(10, 20)); jLabel1.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(380, 15)); jLabel1.setHorizontalAlignment(0); jLabel1.setText("Chat Message"); jTextField1.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(520, 21)); jTextField1.setRequestFocusEnabled(false); jTextField1.addKeyListener(new ChatDialog_jTextField1_keyAdapter(this)); getContentPane().add(jPanel1, "Center"); jPanel1.add(jPanel2, "North"); jPanel2.add(jLabel1, null); jPanel1.add(jPanel3, "Center"); jPanel3.add(jTextField1, null); } public void setVisible(boolean b) { jTextField1.setText(""); super.setVisible(b); } public void showDialog(String msgText) { System.out.println("set ChatDialog: " + msgText); jLabel1.setText(msgText); jLabel1.repaint(); // I added this; it didn't help System.out.println("get ChatDialog: " + jLabel1.getText()); super.setVisible(true); } void this_keyPressed(KeyEvent e) { int id = e.getKeyCode(); switch(id) { case 10: // '\n' System.exit(88); break; } } BorderLayout borderLayout1; BorderLayout borderLayout2; JLabel jLabel1; JPanel jPanel1; JPanel jPanel2; JPanel jPanel3; JTextField jTextField1; String text; WarWindow warWindow; }

  • What is the proper way to access datastore in custom Model Binders?

    - by mare
How should I properly implement data access in my custom model binders? Like in controllers I use IContentRepository and then have it create an instance of its implementing class in constructor. So I have everything ready for incorporating IoC (DI) at a later stage. Now I need something similar in model binder. I need to make some DB lookups in the binder. I'm thinking of doing it the same way I do it in controllers but I am open to suggestion. This is a snippet from one of my controllers so you can imagine how I'm doing it in them: public class WidgetZoneController : BaseController { // BaseController has IContentRepository ContentRepository field public WidgetZoneController() : this(new XmlWidgetZoneRepository()) { } public WidgetZoneController(IContentRepository repository) { ContentRepository = repository; } ...

  • Passing objects by reference or not in C#

    - by Piku
Suppose I have a class like this: public class ThingManager { List<SomeClass> ItemList; public void AddToList (SomeClass Item) { ItemList.Add(Item); } public void ProcessListItems() { // go through list one item at a time, get item from list, // modify item according to class' purpose } } Assume "SomeClass" is a fairly large class containing methods and members that are quite complex (List<s and arrays, for example) and that there may be a large quantity of them, so not copying vast amounts of data around the program is important. Should the "AddToList" method have "ref" in it or not? And why? It's like trying to learn pointers in C all over again ;-) (which is probably why I am getting confused, I'm trying to relate these to pointers. In C it'd be "SomeClass *Item" and a list of "SomeClass *" variables)

  • C#: Preferred pattern for functions requiring arguments that implement two interfaces

    - by JS Bangs
The argument to my function f() must implement two different interfaces that are not related to each other by inheritance, IFoo and IBar. I know of two different ways of doing this. The first is to declare an empty interface that inherits from both: public interface IFooBar : IFoo, IBar { // nothing to see here } public int f(IFooBar arg) { // etc. } This, of course, requires that the classes declare themselves as implementing IFooBar rather than IFoo and IBar separately. The second way is to make f() generic with a constraint: public int f<T>(T arg) where T : IFoo, IBar { // etc. } Which of these do you prefer, and why? Are there any non-obvious advantages or disadvantages to each?

  • Singular method name for single object argument, plural for a list?

    - by nasufara
I'm having a problem with naming a method for a database application. In my Database instance, I have a method that can remove an Agreement object from the database. However, I want to be able to remove multiple Agreements at once, to be able to use transactions. The problem is that I also have an overload to remove a single Agreement object. Essentially, my structure is like this: public class Database { // ... public void RemoveAgreement(Agreement a) { // ... } public void RemoveAgreement(IEnumerable<Agreement> agreements) { // ... } } But this can be confusing, as the overload with the list of Agreements has a singular name, despite being inherently plural. My question is, how should I structure this? Should I have two overloads with the name RemoveAgreement(), or RemoveAgreements()? Or should I use two separate methods, instead of overloads? Thanks.

  • Flex 4: Defining a XML data model in an Actionscript Class

    - by Steve
I'm really having a hard time accessing a data model I've defined in an Actionscript class in my Flex app. The following is my AS Class (Model.as): package { import mx.rpc.http.HTTPService; public class Model { private static var _instance:Model; public static function getInstance():Model { if (!_instance) _instance = new Model(); return _instance; } [Bindable] public var xml:mx.rpc.http.HTTPService = new mx.rpc.http.HTTPService(); Model.getInstance().xml.url = "http://127.0.01/RAF/DATAPOINTS.xml"; Model.getInstance().xml.resultFormat = "e4x"; } } I'm then trying to access this in my main application with the following code: Model.getInstance().xml.send(); var sectorList:XMLList = Model.getInstance().xml.lastResult; And it just keeps throwing errors. The errors are generic so I can't determine the source in debugging. Hope this is enough info...

  • how to implement windows service loop that waits for a period in C# / .NET2.0

    - by matti
    My question is that is this the best practice to do this. Couldn't find any good examples. I have following code in file created by VS2005: public partial class ObjectFolder : ServiceBase { protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { ObjectFolderApp.Initialize(); ObjectFolderApp.StartMonitorAndWork(); } protected override void OnStop() { // TODO: Add code here to perform any tear-down necessary to stop yourservice. } } then: class ObjectFolderApp { public static bool Initialize() { //all init stuff return true; } public static void StartMonitorAndWork() { Thread worker = new Thread(MonitorAndWork); worker.Start(); } private static void MonitorAndWork() { int loopTime = 60000; if (int.TryParse(_cfgValues.GetConfigValue("OfWaitLoop"), out loopTime)) loopTime = 1000 * loopTime; while (true) { /* create+open connection and fill DataSet */ DataSet ofDataSet = new DataSet("ObjectFolderSet"); using (_cnctn = _dbFactory.CreateConnection()) { _cnctn.Open(); //do all kinds of database stuff } Thread.Sleep(loopTime); } } }

  • Is it possible to use Dependency Injection/IoC on an ASP.NET MVC FilterAttribute ?

    - by Pure.Krome
Hi folks, I've got a simple custom FilterAttribute which I use decorate various ActionMethods. eg. [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Get)] [MyCustomFilter] public ActionResult Bar(...) { ... } Now, I wish to add some logging to this CustomFilter Action .. so being a good boy, I'm using DI/IoC ... and as such wish to use this pattern for my custom FilterAttribute. So if i have the following... ILoggingService and wish to add this my custom FilterAttribute .. i'm not sure how. Like, it's easy for me to do the following... public class MyCustomFilterAttribute : FilterAttribute { public MyCustomFilterAttribute(ILoggingService loggingService) { ... } } But the compiler errors saying the attribute which decorates my ActionMethod (listed above...) requires 1 arg .. so i'm just not sure what to do :(

  • Incorrect emacs indentation in a C++ class with DLL export specification

    - by Michael Daum
I often write classes with a DLL export/import specification, but this seems to confuse emacs' syntax parser. I end up with something like: class myDllSpec Foo { public: Foo( void ); }; Notice that the "public:" access spec is indented incorrectly, as well as everything that follows it. When I ask emacs to describe the syntax at the beginning of the line containing public, I get a return of: ((label 352)) If I remove the myDllSpec, the indentation is correct, and emacs tells me that the syntax there is: ((inclass 352) (access-label 352)) Which seems correct and reasonable. So I conclude that the syntax parser is not able to handle the DLL export spec, and that this is what's causing my indentation trouble. Unfortunately, I don't know how to teach the parser about my labels. Seems that this is pretty common practice, so I'm hoping there's a way around it.

I am just using a simple Hello World file, it works in Eclipse but I can't get it to work using javac. javac -version returns javac 1.6.0_17 HelloWorld.java public class HelloWorld { public static void main(String[] args) { String message = "Welcome to Java!"; System.out.println(message); } } I type: javac HelloWorld.java and get the following error. HelloWorld.java:1: class, interface, or enum expected public class HelloWorld ^ 1 error and... javac -cp . HelloWorld.java returns the same. echo $CLASSPATH just returns blank. Thanks for the help.

  • Update query with conditional?

    - by dmontain
I'm not sure if this possible. If not, let me know. I have a PDO mysql that updates 3 fields. $update = $mypdo->prepare("UPDATE tablename SET field1=:field1, field2=:field2, field3=:field3 WHERE key=:key"); But I want field3 to be updated only when $update3 = true; (meaning that the update of field3 is controlled by a conditional statement) Is this possible to accomplish with a single query? I could do it with 2 queries where I update field1 and field2 then check the boolean and update field3 if needed in a separate query. //run this query to update only fields 1 and 2 $update_part1 = $mypdo->prepare("UPDATE tablename SET field1=:field1, field2=:field2 WHERE key=:key"); //if field3 should be update, run a separate query to update it separately if ($update3){ $update_part2 = $mypdo->prepare("UPDATE tablename SET field3=:field3 WHERE key=:key"); } But hopefully there is a way to accomplish this in 1 query?

  • How do I get property injection working in Ninject for a ValidationAttribute in MVC?

    - by jaltiere
I have a validation attribute set up where I need to hit the database to accomplish the validation. I tried setting up property injection the same way I do elsewhere in the project but it's not working. What step am I missing? public class ApplicationIDValidAttribute : ValidationAttribute { [Inject] protected IRepository<MyType> MyRepo; public override bool IsValid(object value) { if (value == null) return true; int id; if (!Int32.TryParse(value.ToString(), out id)) return false; // MyRepo is null here and is never injected var obj= MyRepo.LoadById(id); return (obj!= null); } One other thing to point out, I have the Ninject kernel set up to inject non-public properties, so I don't think that is the problem. I'm using Ninject 2, MVC 2, and the MVC 2 version of Ninject.Web.MVC. Thanks!

  • Save VM properties with EF code first

I don't want to implement a save button. If I intercept the PropertyChange event and call SaveChanges, nothing seems to happen. My object is modified in memory but the database does not see a change. My BookVm class is created on application startup like so: foreach (var book in MyDbContext.Books) Books.Add(book); Where Books is an ObservableCollection<Book> in my MainWindowVm

  • Pass in the object a java class is embedded in as a parameter.

    - by Leif Andersen
I'm building an android application, which has a list view, and in the list view, a click listener, containing an onItemClick method. So I have something like this: public class myList extends ListActivity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { getListView().setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { /* Do something*/ } } } Normally, this works fine. However, many times I find myself needing too preform an application using the outer class as a context. thusfar, I've used: parent.getContext(); to do this, but I would like to know, is that a bad idea? I can't really call: super because it's not really a subclass, just an embedded one. So is there any better way, or is that considered cosure? Also, if it is the right way, what should I do if the embedded method doesn't have a parameter to get the outside class? Thank you.
