  • Why am I having trouble viewing HTTPS websites only using Chrome only on my employer's network?

    I'm using Google Chrome on my new MacBook Pro that has been provided to me by my employer. Many of the HTTPS sites I visit do not work when I visit them using Google Crome while I am connected to my employer's network. Example: www.facebook.com These same sites work perfectly fine if I use a different browser (like Safari) or even with Chrome when my Macbook is connected to my home WiFi network. Chrome reports the error: "The certificate was signed by an unknown authority". See attached screenshots. How can I resolve this problem? I really want to use Chrome. But not having access to numerous important work and outside websites is unacceptable.

  • Does Chrome have a quick find shortcut similar to ' in Firefox?

    I absolutely lived on the ' shortcut in Firefox, which allows you to do a find that applies to text links, and it focuses on them so you can hit Enter and proceed to that link. Chrome only has ctrl-f which focuses on links as well, but you have to ESC out and then hit Enter, which is not as immediate as the Firefox shortcut. Is anyone aware of a Chrome shortcut that replicates this functionality? Or is there some hidden shortcut/key that does this in Chrome which I'm simply unaware of?

  • How does Google Chrome know my Firefox history if I never imported it?

    I have Firefox and Google Chrome installed in the same machine (Linux). It happens when I type something in Chrome Omnibox it suggests pages I have already visited in Firefox. I have never connected the accounts of both browsers I have never imported information from one browser to other I have never visited the suggested pages in Chrome The keyword I type in the omnibox is vague and there is no way it could guess the suggestion without having access to the Firefox history. i.e.: i type "ir" in Chrome and it suggests me the same Iron Maiden lyrics page I have browse before in Firefox.   • How to call a JavaScript function from one frame to another in Chrome/Webkit with file protocol

    I have developed an application that has a list of items in one frame; when one clicks on an item it does something in another frame (loads an image). This used to work fine in all browsers, including Chrome 3; now it still works fine in Firefox but in recent versions of Chrome (I believe since 4) it throws this error: Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL (...) from frame with URL (...). Domains, protocols and ports must match. This is obviously a security "feature" but is it possible to get around it? Here is a simple test: index.html: <html> <frameset cols="50%,50%"> <frame src="left.html" name="left"/> <frame src="right.html" name="right"/> </frameset> </html> left.html: <html> <body> <a href="javascript:parent.right.test('hello');">click me</a> </body> </html> right.html: <html> <body> <script> function test(msg) { alert(msg); } </script> </body> </html> The above works in Firefox 3.6 and Chrome 3 but in Chrome 5 it throws the above error... Edit: added the @cols attribute to the frameset element in fact it works in Chrome if and only if the pages are served with the http protocol (and from the same domain) but my problem is when pages are local and served from a file:// protocol. Then it works in Firefox (all versions) and Chrome 3 but not Chrome 5 (I don't have Chrome 4 so I'm not shure about that specific version (and don't know if it's even possible to download a specific Chrome version?) -- but for Chrome 5 I'm very sure it doesn't work).

  • View Docs and PDFs Directly in Google Chrome

    Would you like to view documents, presentations, and PDFs directly in Google Chrome?  Here’s a handy extension that makes Google Docs your default online viewer so don’t have to download the file first. Getting Started By default, when you come across a PDF or other common document file online in Google Chrome, you’ll have to download the file and open it in a separate application. It’d be much easier to simply view online documents directly in Chrome.  To do this, head over to the Docs PDF/PowerPoint Viewer page on the Chrome Extensions site (link below), and click Install to add it to your browser. Click Install to confirm that you want to install this extension. Extensions don’t run by default in Incognito mode, so if you’d like to always view documents directly in Chrome, open the Extensions page and check Allow this extension to run in incognito. Now, when you click a link for a document online, such as a .docx file from Word, it will open in the Google Docs viewer. These documents usually render in their original full-quality.  You can zoom in and out to see exactly what you want, or search within the document.  Or, if it doesn’t look correct, you can click the Download link in the top left to save the original document to your computer and open it in Office.   Even complex PDF render very nicely.  Do note that Docs will keep downloading the document as you’re reading it, so if you jump to the middle of a document it may look blurry at first but will quickly clear up. You can even view famous presentations online without opening them in PowerPoint.  Note that this will only display the slides themselves, but if you’re looking for information you likely don’t need the slideshow effects anyway.   Adobe Reader Conflicts If you already have Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader installed on your computer, PDF files may open with the Adobe plugin.  If you’d prefer to read your PDFs with the Docs PDF Viewer, then you need to disable the Adobe plugin.  Enter the following in your Address Bar to open your Chrome Plugins page: chrome://plugins/ and then click Disable underneath the Adobe Acrobat plugin. Now your PDFs will always open with the Docs viewer instead. Performance Who hasn’t been frustrated by clicking a link to a PDF file, only to have your browser pause for several minutes while Adobe Reader struggles to download and display the file?  Google Chrome’s default behavior of simply downloading the files and letting you open them is hardly more helpful.  This extension takes away both of these problems, since it renders the documents on Google’s servers.  Most documents opened fairly quickly in our tests, and we were able to read large PDFs only seconds after clicking their link.  Also, the Google Docs viewer rendered the documents much better than the HTML version in Google’s cache. Google Docs did seem to have problem on some files, and we saw error messages on several documents we tried to open.  If you encounter this, click the Download link in the top left corner to download the file and view it from your desktop instead. Conclusion Google Docs has improved over the years, and now it offers fairly good rendering even on more complex documents.  This extension can make your browsing easier, and help documents and PDFs feel more like part of the Internet.  And, since the documents are rendered on Google’s servers, it’s often faster to preview large files than to download them to your computer.   • Flash 11 crashing Mac browsers?

    I run Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Flash 11 in Google Chrome 15. The process part looks like this: username 93458 11.4 14.0 2469136 588600 ?? Has anyone experienced this and is there some setting that fixes this? I've uninstalled Flash from the system otherwise (Chrome bundles it) so I only use chrome for Flash games, and as a plus the other browsers are quite solid without Flash.

  • Debugging XSLT with extension objects in Visual Studio 2010

    I'm currently working on a project that involves a lot of XSLT transformations and I really need a debugger (I have XSLTs that are 1000+ lines long and I didn't write them :-). The project is written in C# and makes use of extension objects: xslArg.AddExtensionObject("urn:<obj>", new <Obj>()); From my knowledge, in this situation Visual Studio is the only tool that can help me debug the transformations step-by-step. The static debugger is no use because of the extension objects (it throws an error when it reaches elements that reference their namespace). Fortunately, I've found this thread which gave me a starting point (at least I know it can be done). After searching MSDN, I found the criteria that makes stepping into the transform possible. They are listed here. In short: the XML and the XSLT must be loaded via a class that has the IXmlLineInfo interface (XmlReader & co.) the XML resolver used in the XSLTCompiledTransform constructor is file-based (XmlUriResolver should work). the stylesheet should be on the local machine or on the intranet (?) From what I can tell, I fit all these criteria, but it still doesn't work.   • jQuery Dialog + Chrome - opening a second modal dialog doesn't dim the page

    I have a jQuery modal dialog with a button. When clicked, it closes the current dialog and open another modal dialog. This works fine in FF and IE, but in Chrome I lose the dimmed main page after the first dialog and the second one is opened. It looks like the CSS isn't applied anymore? I'm using jQuery UI 1.7.2 and jQuery 1.3.2 (can't upgrade to 1.4.1 for an unrelated reason). Any ideas/workarounds?

The addon adds data to the page and sends an event back, and the page refreshes the statistics.     This site has a script that works in all browsers i tested but Chrome, which i think is strange because it is usually IE that acts up. The error console says Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toLowerCase' of undefined Uncaught TypeError: Object #<an Object> has no method 'set' however i don't know what to do with this information. Any ideas?
