  • Table cell doesn't obey vertical-align CSS declaration when it contains a floated element

    - by mikez302
    I am trying to create a table, where each cell contains a big floated h1 on the left side, and a larger amount of small text to the right of the big text, vertically centered. However, the small text is showing up at the top of each cell, despite that it has a "vertical-align: middle" declaration. When I remove the big floated element, everything looks fine. I tested it in recent versions of IE, Firefox, and Safari, and this happened in every case. Why is this happening? Does anyone know of a way around it? Here is an example: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html><head> <meta http-equiv='Content-Type' content='text/html; charset=UTF-8'> <title>vertical-align test</title> <style type="text/css"> td { border: solid black 1px; vertical-align: middle; font-size: 12px} h1 { font-size: 40px; float: left} </style> </head> <body> <table> <tr> <td><h1>1</h1>The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.</td> <td>The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.</td> </tr> </table> </body></html> Notice that the small text in the first cell is at the top for some reason, but the text in the 2nd cell is vertically centered.

  • jQuery: hard time to get <embed> element

    - by Patrick
    hi, how can I get the embed element with jQuery ? (I spent enough time trying with "children(), find(), last() jquery functions). This is my code. Until here it works, I would like to get the second children (embed). $('div.filefield-file').each(function(index) { console.log($(this).children()); }); </script> This is HTML code: Scheduling Video <div class="field-item even"> <div class="filefield-file clear-block"><div class="filefield-icon field-icon-video-x-flv"><img class="field-icon-video-x-flv" alt="video/x-flv icon" src="http://localhost/drupal/sites/all/modules/filefield/icons/protocons/16x16/mimetypes/video-x-generic.png"></div><div style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); width: 400px;"><embed style="display: block;" src="/drupal/videoPlayer.swf?file=http://localhost/drupal/sites/default/files/files/projects/Project3/videos/screenshot.flv" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" bgcolor="#ffffff" allowfullscreen="true" autoplay="true" flashvars="file=http://localhost/drupal/sites/default/files/files/projects/Project3/videos/screenshot.flv" height="400" width="400"><div>screenshot.flv</div></div></div> </div>

  • jQuery slideDown: Parent element doesn't expand?

    - by bobsoap
    Hi, This issue occurs in our beloved Internet Explorer 7: I have a list of items, each with a hidden child div. When user clicks the "expand" button in any list item, the hidden div will expand downwards and push all content beneith it lower. This works just as it should in FF, Chrome, IE8 - but IE7 will not expand the parent element along with its children. This is noticeable because the top-most parent container has an absolutely positioned image at the very bottom (yea... rounded corners) - that doesn't get pushed down when the content expands. I'm guessing that's because of the absolute positioning... Just wondering whether I should attempt to code up some huge workaround in jQuery just for that (assuming I'm able to), or if this is a known issue of some sort. My HTML: <div id="container"> <ul> <li>Click here to expand <div class="hide"></div> </li> <li>Click here to expand <div class="hide"></div> </li> <li>Click here to expand <div class="hide"></div> </li> </ul> <div id="containerbottom"></div> </div> The CSS: #container { position:relative; } #container #containerbottom { position:absolute; bottom:0px; left:0px; } The jQuery is pretty much your everyday slide function: $('ul li').click(function() { $(this).children('.hide').slideDown(200); }); Any ideas?

  • jQuery element with multiple classes: storing one class as a var

    - by Aaron
    I'm trying to create a standardized show/hide element system, like so: <div class="opener popup_1">Click Me</div> <div class="popup popup_1">I'm usually hidden</div> Clicking on the div with the opener class should show() the div with the popup class. I don't know how many opener/popup combinations I'm going to have on any given page, I don't know where on any given page the opener and the popup are going to be displayed, and I don't know how many popups a given opener should call show() for. Both the opener and the popup have to be able to have more classes than just what's used by jQuery. What I'd like to do is something like this: $(".opener").click(function() { var openerTarget = $(this).attr("class").filter(function() { return this.class.match(/^popup_([a-zA-Z0-9-_\+]*) ?$/); }); $(".popup." + openerTarget).show(); The idea is that when you click on an opener, it filters out "popup_whatever" from opener's classes and stores that as openerTarget. Then anything with class=popup and openerTarget will be shown.

  • std::list iterator: get next element

    - by sheepsimulator
    I'm trying to build a string using data elements stored in a std::list, where I want commas placed only between the elements (ie, if elements are {A,B,C,D} in list, result string should be "A,B,C,D". This code does not work: typedef std::list< shared_ptr<EventDataItem> > DataItemList; // ... std::string Compose(DataItemList& dilList) { std::stringstream ssDataSegment; for(iterItems = dilList.begin(); iterItems != dilList.end(); iterItems++) { // Lookahead in list to see if next element is end if((iterItems + 1) == dilList.end()) { ssDataSegment << (*iterItems)->ToString(); } else { ssDataSegment << (*iterItems)->ToString() << ","; } } return ssDataSegment.str(); } How do I get at "the-next-item" in a std::list using an iterator? I would expect that it's a linked-list, why can't I get at the next item?

  • Actual element tags are not getting captured.

    I am using the below piece of XSL code to construct a span tag calling a javascript function on mouseover. The input to the javascipt should be a html table. The output from the variable "showContent" gives just the text content but not along with the table tags. How can this be resolved. • How to draw some lines in a view element defined in the xml layout

    - by Nils
    Hello, I have problems drawing some simple lines in a view object (Android programming). First I created the layout with the view element(kind of painting area) in it (XML file). [...] < View android:id="@+id/viewmap" android:layout_width="572px" android:layout_height="359px" android:layout_x="26px" android:layout_y="27px" [...] ... and tried then to access it to draw some lines. Unfortunately the program is running and other UI elements like buttons are displayed, but I can't see the drawings. What's wrong ? [...] viewmap = (View) findViewById(R.id.viewmap); Canvas canvas = new Canvas(); viewmap.draw(canvas); Paint p = new Paint(); p.setColor(Color.BLUE); p.setStyle(Paint.Style.STROKE); canvas.drawColor(Color.WHITE); p.setColor(Color.BLUE); canvas.drawLine(4, 4, 29, 5, p); p.setColor(Color.RED); viewmap.draw(canvas); [...] Thanks for help :) !

  • How to get XML element/attribute name in SQL Server 2005

    - by OG Dude
    Hi, I have a simple procedure in SQL Server 2005 which takes some XML as input. The element attributes correspond to field names in tables. I'd like to be able to determine <elementName>, <attribNameX> dynamically as to avoid having to hardcode them into the procedure. How can I do this? The XML looks like this: <ROOT> <elementName attribName1 = "xxx" attribName2 = "yyy"/> <elementName attribName1 = "aaa" attribName2 = "bbb"/> ... </ROOT> The stored procedure like this: CREATE PROC dbo.myProc ( @XMLInput varchar(1000) ) AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON DECLARE @XMLDocHandle int EXEC sp_xml_preparedocument @XMLDocHandle OUTPUT, @XMLInput SELECT someTable.someCol FROM dbo.someTable JOIN OPENXML (@XMLDocHandle, '/ROOT/elementName',1) WITH (attrib1Name int, attrib2Name int) AS XMLData ON someTable.attribName1 = XMLData.attribName1 AND someTable.attribName2 = XMLData.attribName2 EXEC sp_xml_removedocument @XMLDocHandle END GO The question has been asked here before but maybe there is a cleaner solution. Additionally, I'd like to pass the tablename as a parameter as well - I read some stuff arguing that this is bad style - so what would be a good solution for having a dynamic tablename? Thanks a lot in advance, /David

  • Problems with ASP.NET, machine-level web.config, and the location element

    - by Daniel Schaffer
    I've got a server running Windows Web Server 2008 R2. The machine-level web.config has the following entries: <location path="Preview"> <appSettings> <add key="Environment" value="Preview" /> </appSettings> </location> <location path="Staging"> <appSettings> <add key="Environment" value="Staging" /> </appSettings> </location> <location path="Production"> <appSettings> <add key="Environment" value="Production" /> </appSettings> </location> I have a website that I'd set up in the direction D:\Sites\Preview\, so the full path would be D:\Sites\Preview\WebSite1. If I put a simple aspx file that just outputs the value of ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["Environment"], it displays the value Preview. I'm not clear on exactly how that works, but it does. I'd set this up several weeks ago, and just now tried to duplicate this - I put a second site in the D:\Sites\Preview\ directory, expecting that it would automatically pick up the appropriate appSettings entries, but for some reason it hasn't - the same aspx page doesn't show anything. Additionally, when I go into the IIS manager and open the Configuration Editor, there are no settings in there, whereas there are settings listed for the first site. Any ideas as to what I could be missing? Is the location element intended to work like this, or did I just find some magical fluke with my first site?

  • WPF, notify a child in the element tree about an event in a parent

    - by jester
    I am developing a WPF app and I want an event in a parent to be notified to several of its children in the element tree, so that each of them can take an action accordingly. I know that a custom RoutedEvent can be used to signal in the other direction from a child to one of its ancestors by bubbling the event upwards, so that any of the ancestor elements can handle the event. What I want is the children to be notified about an event in the parent and they handle them appropriately. What is the best strategy to achieve this? EDIT: Clarifying the comments : Say I have a parent UserControl. It has a TabControl and its contents are several nested child UserControls. Now consider a scenario where I want the TabControl.SelectionChanged() event to cause some changes in each of the child UserControl. How to achieve this? (The contents of each tab is a UserControl which themselves may contain another few levels of children UserControls. I want the UserControl in the bottom level to know about the SelectionChanged() event and respond accordingly).

  • Returning the element number of the longest string in an array

    - by JohnRoberts
    I'm trying to get the longestS method to take the user-inputted array of strings, then return the element number of the longest string in that array. I got it to the point where I was able to return the number of chars in the longest string, but I don't believe that will work for what I need. My problem is that I keep getting incompatible type errors when trying to figure this out. I don't understand the whole data type thing with strings yet. It's confusing me how I go about return a number of the array yet the array is of strings. The main method is fine, I got stuck on the ???? part. { public static void main(String [] args) { Scanner inp = new Scanner( System.in ); String [] responseArr= new String[4]; for (int i=0; i<4; i++) { System.out.println("Enter string "+(i+1)); responseArr[i] = inp.nextLine(); } int highest=longestS(responseArr); } public static int longestS(String[] values) { int largest=0 for( int i = 1; i < values.length; i++ ) { if ( ????? ) } return largest; } }

  • Raphael.js: Adding a new custom element

    - by Claudia
    I would like to create a custom Raphael element, with custom properties and functions. This object must also contain predefined Raphael objects. For example, I would have a node class, that would contain a circle with text and some other elements inside it. The problem is to add this new object to a set. These demands are needed because non-Raphael objects cannot be added to sets. As a result, custom objects that can contain Raphael objects cannot be used. The code would look like this: var Node = function (paper) { // Coordinates & Dimensions this.x = 0, this.y = 0, this.radius = 0, this.draw = function () { this.entireSet = paper.set(); var circle = paper.circle(this.x, this.y, this.radius); this.circleObj = circle; this.entireSet.push(circle); var text = paper.text(this.x, this.y, this.text); this.entireSet.push(text); } // other functions } var NodeList = function(paper){ this.nodes = paper.set(), this.populateList = function(){ // in order to add a node to the set // the object must be of type Raphael object // otherwise the set will have no elements this.nodes.push(// new node) } this.nextNode = function(){ // ... } this.previousNode = function(){ // ... } }

  • How to access a TextView element in a BroadcastReceiver

    - by ric03uec
    Hello, I am testing a simple widget in android and using Alarms to update a TextView at regular intervals. The problem is that in the BroadcastReceiver class I cannot access the TextView element, which I want to get updated when the alarm expires. The class is being called properly because the Toast i have put there is giving the appropriate message. The following code is from the class where I configure the widget and set the timers. public void onCreate(Bundle bundle) { super.onCreate(bundle); Intent intent = getIntent(); Bundle extras = intent.getExtras(); if(extras != null){ mWidgetId = extras.getInt(AppWidgetManager.EXTRA_APPWIDGET_ID, AppWidgetManager.INVALID_APPWIDGET_ID); AppWidgetManager appWidgetManager = AppWidgetManager.getInstance(WidgetConfigure.this); RemoteViews views = new RemoteViews(WidgetConfigure.this.getPackageName(), R.layout.widget_layout); views.setTextViewText(R.id.quote, "Widget Loaded From Activity"); appWidgetManager.updateAppWidget(mWidgetId, views); setTimer(); //set the timers... setResult();// set the result... } } Now i want to update the same TextView when the BroadCastReceiver is called after the timer expires. I have tried the code provided in the ExampleAppWidget example provided in android api demos and that isnt working out. How can i set the required text? Thankx in advance

  • Adding a div element inside a panel?

    - by Bar Mako
    I'm working with GWT and I'm trying to add google-maps to my website. Since I want to use google-maps V3 I'm using JSNI. In order to display the map in my website I need to create a div element with id="map" and get it in the initialization function of the map. I did so, and it worked out fine but its location on the webpage is funny and I want it to be attached to a panel I'm creating in my code. So my question is how can I do it? Can I create a div somehow with GWT inside a panel ? I've tried to do create a new HTMLPanel like this: runsPanel.add(new HTMLPanel("<div id=\"map\"></div>")); Where runsPanel is a the panel I want to to be attached to. Yet, it fails to retrive the div when I use the following initialization function: private native JavaScriptObject initializeMap() /*-{ var latLng = new $wnd.google.maps.LatLng(31.974, 34.813); //around Rishon-LeTsiyon var mapOptions = { zoom : 14, center : latLng, mapTypeId : $wnd.google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; var mapDiv = $doc.getElementById('map'); if (mapDiv == null) { alert("MapDiv is null!"); } var map = new $wnd.google.maps.Map(mapDiv, mapOptions); return map; }-*/; (It pops the alert - "MapDiv is null!") Any ideas? Thanks

  • Jquery Find an XML element based on the value of one of it's children

    - by NateD
    I'm working on a simple XML phonebook app to learn JQuery, and I can't figure out how to do something like this: When the user enters the first name of a contact in a textbox I want to find the entire record of that person. The XML looks like this: <phonebook> <person> <number> 555-5555</number> <first_name>Evelyn</first_name> <last_name>Remington</last_name> <address>Edge of the Abyss</address> <image>path/to/image</image> </person> <person> <number>+34 1 6444 333 2223230</number> <first_name>Max</first_name> <last_name>Muscle</last_name> <address>Mining Belt</address> <image>path/to/image</image> </person> </phonebook> and the best I've been able to do with the jQuery is something like this: var myXML; function searchXML(){ $.ajax({ type:"GET", url: "phonebook.xml", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml){myXML = $("xml").find("#firstNameBox").val())} }); } What I want it to do is return the entire <person> element so I can iterate through and display all that person's information. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Providing less than operator for one element of a pair

    - by Koszalek Opalek
    What would be the most elegant way too fix the following code: #include <vector> #include <map> #include <set> using namespace std; typedef map< int, int > row_t; typedef vector< row_t > board_t; typedef row_t::iterator area_t; bool operator< ( area_t const& a, area_t const& b ) { return( a->first < b->first ); }; int main( int argc, char* argv[] ) { int row_num; area_t it; set< pair< int, area_t > > queue; queue.insert( make_pair( row_num, it ) ); // does not compile }; One way to fix it is moving the definition of less< to namespace std (I know, you are not supposed to do it.) namespace std { bool operator< ( area_t const& a, area_t const& b ) { return( a->first < b->first ); }; }; Another obvious solution is defining less than< for pair< int, area_t but I'd like to avoid that and be able to define the operator only for the one element of the pair where it is not defined.

  • Representing element as boolean with JAXB?

    - by Marcus
    We have this XML: <Summary> <ValueA>xxx</ValueA> <ValueB/> </Summary> <ValueB/> will never have any attributes or inner elements. It's a boolean type element - it exists (true) or it doesn't (false). JAXB generated a Summary class with a String valueA member, which is good. But for ValueB, JAXB generated a ValueB inner class and a corresponding member: @XmlElement(name = "ValueB") protected Summary.ValueB valueB; But what I'd like is a boolean member and no inner class: @XmlElement(name = "ValueB") protected boolean valueB; How can you do this? I'm not looking to regenerate the classes, I'd like to just make the code change manually. Update: In line with the accepted answer, we created a new method returning the boolean value conditional on whether valueB == null. As we are using Hibernate, we annotated valueB with @Transient and annotated the boolean getter with Hibernate's @Column annotation.

  • Problem creating a custom input element using FluentHtml (MVCContrib)

    - by seth
    Hi there, I just recently started dabbling in ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and came across the wonderful MVCContrib. I had originally gone down the path of creating some extended html helpers, but after finding FluentHTML decided to try my hand at creating a custom input element. Basically I am wanting to ultimately create several custom input elements to make it easier for some other devs on the project I'm working on to add their input fields to the page and have all of my preferred markup to render for them. So, in short, I'd like to wrap certain input elements with additional markup.. A TextBox would be wrapped in an <li /> for example. I've created my custom input elements following Tim Scott's answer in another question on here: DRY in the MVC View. So, to further elaborate, I've created my class, "TextBoxListItem": public class TextBoxListItem : TextInput<TextBox> { public TextBoxListItem (string name) : base(HtmlInputType.Text, name) { } public TextBoxListItem (string name, MemberExpression forMember, IEnumerable<IBehaviorMarker> behaviors) : base(HtmlInputType.Text, name, forMember, behaviors) { } public override string ToString() { var liBuilder = new TagBuilder(HtmlTag.ListItem); liBuilder.InnerHtml = ToString(); return liBuilder.ToString(TagRenderMode.SelfClosing); } } I've also added it to my ViewModelContainerExtensions class: public static TextBox TextBoxListItem<T>(this IViewModelContainer<T> view, Expression<Func<T, object>> expression) where T : class { return new TextBoxListItem(expression.GetNameFor(view), expression.GetMemberExpression(), view.Behaviors) .Value(expression.GetValueFrom(view.ViewModel)); } And lastly, I've added it to ViewDataContainerExtensions as well: public static TextBox TextBoxListItem(this IViewDataContainer view, string name) { return new TextBox(name).Value(view.ViewData.Eval(name)); } I'm calling it in my view like so: <%= this.TextBoxListItem("username").Label("Username:") %> Anyway, I'm not getting anything other than the standard FluentHTML TextBox, not wrapped in <li></li> elements. What am I missing here? Thanks very much for any assistance.
