• SpringMvc java.lang.NullPointerException When Posting Form To Server

  I have a form with a user name field on it when i tab out of the field i use a RESTFUL Web Service that makes a call to a handler method in the controller. The method makes a call to a DAO class that checks the database if the user name exists. This works fine, however when the form is posted to the server i call the same exact function i would call in the handler method however i get a java.lang.NullPointerException when it accesses the class that makes a call to the DAO object. So it does not even access the DAO object the second time. I have exception handlers around the calls in all my classes that makes calls. Any ideas as to whats happening here why i would get the java.lang.NullPointerException the second time the function is called.Does this have anything to do with Spring instantiating DAO classes using a Singleton method or something to that effect? What can be done to resolve this? • json parser empty result

• PHP If/Else for Wordpress Custom Fields

  I have a site that is using custom fields, and I want to either show the content for the field if the field is being used, and if the field is not being used per a Post then of course don't show the contents of the fields. Seems my code below is not correct, as it is showing the content in the else block when the Post is not using any of the custom fields. Any help would be greatly appreciated! • Can this line of code really throw an IndexOutOfRange exception?

  I am getting an IndexOutOfRange exception on the following line of code: var searchLastCriteria = (SearchCriteria)Session.GetSafely(WebConstants.KeyNames.SEARCH_LAST_CRITERIA); I'll explain the above here: SearchCriteria is an Enum with only two values Session is the HttpSessionState GetSafely is an extension method that looks like this: public static object GetSafely(this HttpSessionState source, string key) { try { return source[key]; } catch (Exception exc) { log.Info(exc); return null; } } WebConstants.KeyNames.SEARCH_LAST_CRITERIA is simply a constant I've tried everything to replicate this error, but I cannot reproduce it. I am beginning to think the stack trace is wrong. I thought perhaps the exception was actually coming from the GetSafely call, but it is swallowing the exceptions, so that can't be the case, and even if it was, it should show up in the stack trace. Is there anything in the line of code above that could possible throw an IndexOutOfRange exception? I know the line will throw an NullReferenceException if GetSafely returns null, and it will also throw an InvalidCastException if it returns anything that cannot be cast to SearchCriteria, but an IndexOutOfRange exception? I am trying to use this key to encode a string in Java and am running into an Arithmetic problem (exception) when I attempt to encrypt the string. If it is not obvious, the R.string.public_key_modulus is a copy/paste of the text in the Modulus element, same applies for exponent.

• My IF statement is changing variables in PHP

  I am fairly new to the whole programming thing, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. It seems odd that I haven't run into it before. I am trying to make an order form for a cake. You fill out the form, submit it, and it will then display the order in a new window, where you then hit "submit," and upload it to the Database. I have a series of If Statements to check for errors in the form before submitting it. Here is a simplified version of the code. Writing means any writing you want on the cake, Name is your name, and cake is what type of cake you want (the default is "None"). try { $name = trim($params->name); $cake = trim($params->cake); $writing = trim($params->writing); if (strlen($name) < 3){ throw new Exception("Please enter Your name."); } if ($cake = "None") { throw new Exception("Please select a Cake" } if ($cake = "Caramel Apple Pie" or $cake = "Pumpkin Pie" or $cake = "Eggnog Pie" and strlen($writing) > 1) { throw new Exception("We are sorry, but you can't write on any of our specialty pies."); } } catch(Exception $x) { $error = $x->getmessage(); } So what is happening is that when I go and hit submit the first time, the correct cake type comes up, but when you submit it the second time, the error comes up saying that I have "None" selected. All the other values are there and remain the same. I think the problem is that the first "IF" statement (Where it says "If($cake = "None")) is automatically changing $cake to "None" because I have tried commenting just that statement out, and it will then change the cake to be "Caramel Apple Pie," which is in the top of the next IF statement. Anyone know why it is doing this? And how to fix it?

• How would I authenticate against a local windows user on another machine in an ASP.NET application?

  In my ASP.NET application, I need to be able to authenticate/authorise against local Windows users/groups (ie. not Active Directory) on a different machine, as well as be able to change the passwords of said remote local Windows accounts. Yes, I know Active Directory is built for this sort of thing, but unfortunately the higher ups have decreed it needs to be done this way (so authentication against users in a database is out as well). I've tried using DirectoryEntry and WinNT like so: DirectoryEntry user = new DirectoryEntry(String.Format("WinNT://{0}/{1},User", serverName, username), username, password, AuthenticationTypes.Secure) but this results in an exception when you try to log in more than one user: Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again. I've tried making sure my DirectoryEntries are used inside a using block, so they're disposed properly, but this doesn't seem to fix the issue. Plus, even if that did work it is possible that two users could hit that line of code concurrently and therefore try to create multiple connections, so it would be fragile anyway. Is there a better way to authenticate against local Windows accounts on a remote machine, authorise against their groups, and change their passwords? Thanks for your help in advance.

I have a singleton pattern on the repositorry library but on each call the service, it creates a new instance of the session factory wich is very expensive. • Is it legal to take sealed .NET framework class source and extend it?

  To be short, I'm giving very specific example, but I'm interested in general situation. There is a FtpWebRequest class in .NET framework and it is missing some of new FTP operations, like MFCT. It is ok in a sense that this operation is still in draft mode, but it is not ok in a sense, that FtpWebRequest is sealed and there's no other way (at least I don't see it) to extend it with this new operation. Easiest way to do it would be take FtpWebRequest class source from .NET reference sources and extend it, in such way will be kept all the consistence in naming, implementation, etc. Question is how much legal it is? I won't sell this class as a product, I can publish my changes on web - nothing to hide here. If it is not legal, can I take this class source from mono and include in native .net project? Did you had similar case and how you solved it? Update: as long as extension method is offered, I'm pasting source from .NET framework which should show that extension methods are not the solution. • Why do you have to call URLConnection#getInputStream to be able to write out to URLConnection#getOutputStream?

  I'm trying to write out to URLConnection#getOutputStream, however, no data is actually sent until I call URLConnection#getInputStream. Even if I set URLConnnection#doInput to false, it still will not send. Does anyone know why this is? There's nothing in the API documentation that describes this.   I am using Apache Tomcat Server 6 and Java 1.6 and am trying to write large mp3 files to the ServletOutputStream for a user to download. Files are ranging from a 50-750MB at the moment. The smaller files aren't causing too much of a problem but with the larger files it and getting socket exception broken pipe. • JSON Returning Null in PHP

I am not an expert with JSON so I have no idea what is going on here. I really have no way of testing it because the information is coming from an outside website sending information such as this: { payload: { uid: "900af657a65e", amount: 50, adjusted_amount: 25 }, signature: "4dd0f5da77ecaf88628967bbd91d9506" } The site allows me to test the script, but because json_decode is providing NULL values it will not get through the signature block. Is there a way I can test it myself? Or is there a simple error in this script that I may have just looked over?

So what can be wrong with buildup?
