  • Any alternative or other option for anchor point in cocos2d ?

    - by Srinivas
    I have game application (cocos2d) in which, a ball is to be shooted from a cannon, this ball travels through a trajectory path and land on a building. Now the problem is that according to the requirement I have to increase the size of the background image due to which I have to set the Building image with anchor point now I have to put fire image on the building dynamically on different window locations, for this should I use same anchor point option or there are some alternative options to accomplish this task.

  • iPad: Tables in Popover Views do not Scroll to Show Selected Row

    - by mahboudz
    I am having two problems with viewcontrollerss in landscape orientation on the iPad. (1) I have two popups which hold tables. The tables should scroll to a specific row to reflect a selection in the main view. Instead, the tables do scroll down some but the actual selected row remains off screen. (2) All my action sheets come up with a width of 320. In Interface Builder, all my views are created in landscape orientation. Only the main Window is not, but I don't see a way to change that. My Configuration: Upon launch, I get the following coordinates for my main window and the main viewcontroller view: Window frame {{0, 0}, {768, 1024}} mainView frame {{0, 0}, {748, 1024}} All other views after that show these coordinates when summoned (when loaded but before being presented): frame of keysig {{0, 0}, {1024, 768}} frame of instrumentSelect {{20, 0}, {1024, 768}} frame of settings {{0, 0}, {467, 300}} In all my viewControllers, i respond to shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation with: return ((interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) || (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight)); Everything (almost) functions as expected. The app launches into one of the two landscape modes. The views (and viewcontrollers) display everything where it belongs and taps work all across the screen as expected. However, I still have the two problems. Problem 1: I have two popups containing tables long enough to run off screen. The tables should scroll to a selected row. They do scroll i.e. they don't start visually at row 1 but they don't scroll enough to actually show the selected row. It almost seems like a UITable internal rect gets created with the wrong number and stays that way but I've checked both of the UITableView's scrollView content coordinates and they seemed reasonable. Problem 2: I think this is related to problem 1 because my actionsheets come up with a width of 320. I can only assume that the iPad allows actionSheets in only 320 or 480 widths and since it somehow thinks that the screen is oriented in portrait mode, it uses the narrower width. There you have it. I can't believe I am still getting hung up on orientation issues. I swear Apple doesn't make it easy to have a landscape app. Any ideas?

  • NSPredicate that is the equivalent of SQL's LIKE

    - by randombits
    I'm looking for a way to use NSPredicate to set a LIKE condition to fetch objects. In addition to that, an OR would be useful as well. I'm trying to do something where if a user searches "James" I can write an NSPredicate that will do the equivalent of: select * from users where firstname LIKE '%James%' OR lastname LIKE '%James%';

  • NSFetchedResultsController not updating UITableView's section indexes

    - by Luther Baker
    I am populating a UITableViewController with an NSFetchedResultsController with results creating sections that populate section headers and a section index. I am using the following method to populate the section index: - (NSArray *)sectionIndexTitlesForTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return [fetchedResultsController_ sectionIndexTitles]; } and now I've run into a problem. When I add a new element to the NSManagedObjectContext associated with the NSFetchedResultsController, the new element is saved and appropriately displayed as a cell in the UITableView ... except for one thing. If the new element creates a new SECTION, the new section index does not show up in the right hand margin unless I pop the UINavigationController's stack and reload the UITableViewController. I have conformed to the NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate's interface and manually invoke [self.tableView reloadSectionIndexTitles]; at the end of both these delegate methods: controller:didChangeSection... controller:didChangeObject... and while I can debug and trace the execution into the methods and see the reload call invoked, the UITableView's section index never reflects the section changes. Again, the data shows up - new sections are physically visible (or removed) in the UITableView but the section indexes are not updated. Am I missing something?

  • How to capitalize maximally on location-independence … my personal #1-incentive for working as a developer

    - by SomeGuy
    To me the ultimate beauty in working as a developer is the fact that given a nice CV, your are going to find a new job, everywhere at any time. So I would like to ask if somebody here as experience in working while travelling for example. Or job-hopping from metropolis to metropolis every, say, six months. For example I have been investigating for how to get to Brazil. But it seems like that working as an employee in Brazil would be no option, b/c it takes a lot of time/money/effort to get the proper visas and permissions. So the only practical solution would be to freelance and the just travel, while getting your job done wherever you are. I bet my ass that there are loads of IT-guys out there and on here who know exactly what I am talking about. I'm looking forward to interesting ideas and stories.

  • Cancel UITouch Events When View Covered By Modal UIViewController

    - by kkrizka
    Hi there, I am writing an application where the user has to move some stuff on the screen using his fingers and drop them. To do this, I am using the touchesBegan,touchesEnded... function of each view that has to be moved. The problem is that sometimes the views are covered by a view displayed using the [UIViewController presentModalViewController] function. As soon as that happens, the UIView that I was moving stops receiving the touch events, since it was covered up. But there is no event telling me that it stopped receiving the events, so I can reset the state of the moved view. The following is an example that demonstrates this. The functions are part of a UIView that is being shown in the main window. It listens to touch events and when I drag the finger for some distance, it presents a modal view that covers everything. In the Run Log, it prints what touch events are received. - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@"touchesBegan"); touchStart=[[touches anyObject] locationInView:self]; } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint touchAt=[[touches anyObject] locationInView:self]; float xx=(touchAt.x-touchStart.x)*(touchAt.x-touchStart.x); float yy=(touchAt.y-touchStart.y)*(touchAt.y-touchStart.y); float rr=xx+yy; NSLog(@"touchesMoved %f",rr); if(rr > 100) { NSLog(@"Show modal"); [viewController presentModalViewController:[UIViewController new] animated:NO]; } } - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@"touchesEnded"); } - (void)touchesCancelled:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@"touchesCancelled"); } But when I test the application and trigger the modal dialog to be displayed, the following is the output in the Run Log. [Session started at 2010-03-27 16:17:14 -0700.] 2010-03-27 16:17:18.831 modelTouchCancel[2594:207] touchesBegan 2010-03-27 16:17:19.485 modelTouchCancel[2594:207] touchesMoved 2.000000 2010-03-27 16:17:19.504 modelTouchCancel[2594:207] touchesMoved 4.000000 2010-03-27 16:17:19.523 modelTouchCancel[2594:207] touchesMoved 16.000000 2010-03-27 16:17:19.538 modelTouchCancel[2594:207] touchesMoved 26.000000 2010-03-27 16:17:19.596 modelTouchCancel[2594:207] touchesMoved 68.000000 2010-03-27 16:17:19.624 modelTouchCancel[2594:207] touchesMoved 85.000000 2010-03-27 16:17:19.640 modelTouchCancel[2594:207] touchesMoved 125.000000 2010-03-27 16:17:19.641 modelTouchCancel[2594:207] Show modal Any suggestions on how to reset the state of a UIView when its touch events are interrupted by a modal view?

  • How to make the subview in a UIScrollView to refresh when we zoom it?

    - by wolverine
    I have subclassed UIView object inside a uiscrollview which displays a pdf page. I can zoom that page. But when I do so, the inside view is zoomed and is getting blurred. I understood that the inner view shud be refreshed and i called setNeedsDisplay. But no change have happened and its the same even now. Below is the code for drawRect for the subclassed uiview. - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { if(document)//the pdf document object { CGContextRef ctx = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextSaveGState(ctx); CGContextTranslateCTM(ctx, 0.00, [self bounds].size.height); NSLog(@"%f",[self bounds].size.height); CGContextScaleCTM(ctx, 1.0, -1.0); CGContextConcatCTM(ctx, CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform(page, kCGPDFCropBox, [self bounds], 0, true)); CGContextDrawPDFPage(ctx, page); CGContextRestoreGState(ctx); } }

  • UIButton doesn't appear on UIToolbar

    I have a UIToolbar where I have dragged a UIButton. When I set the button properties to Custom, and assign an image (or background image) the graphics don't appear. However, when I give it a custom text, the text will appear. Why is it that the images don't appear?

  • bigger UITableViewCellStyleValue1 detailTextLabel

    - by Ziga Kranjec
    I am trying to make a UITableView. Table cells are done in style UITableViewCellStyleValue1. When text in either textLabel or detailTextLabel is too long, it gets shortened with ellipsis... This happens for both labels; the problem really occurs, when both labels are too long. What is a preferred way to disable this or make detailTextLabel slightly wider? I want detailTextLabel to always show the entire label (it will be max 6 chars long, so it will fit); textLabel is fine as it is.

  • Can I apply a texture to UIToolbar?

    - by Ben
    I tried doing this: [toolbar setTint:[UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"thingFromMyBundle.png"]]]; but it just ended up black. At first I assumed you weren't allowed to "tint" with a texture, but I've seen apps recently that can do this. Am I missing something? Thanks.

  • UIAlertView Dismiss Not Really Dismissed

    - by Jim Bonner
    Below is the code I'm using to do a retry on an FBConnect session. When the [self loginToFaceBook] fires FBConnect adds a subview to 'window' which is still the UIAlert view, so when the UIAlert really dismisses it takes the FBConnect view with it. Any idea as to the best way to wait for the UIAlert view to be gone. -(void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView didDismissWithButtonIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if([self respondsToSelector:@selector(alertContinue)]) { [self alertContinue]; } } -(void)alertContinue { SocialLiteAppDelegate *appDelegate = (SocialLiteAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [appDelegate.fbSession logout]; [self loginToFaceBook]; }

  • Sorting arrays with cyclic compares (infinite loop?)

    - by Tiago
    Hi, I have some objects that have 3 sorting options: quality, quatity and a compare against the other object, sorted by that order. - (NSComparisonResult) compare: (MyObject *) obj { if (self.quality > obj.quality) return NSOrderedAscending; else if (self.quality < obj.quality) return NSOrderedDescending; if (self.quantity > obj.quantity) return NSOrderedAscending; else if (self.quantity < obj.quantity) return NSOrderedDescending; if ([self betterThan: obj]) return NSOrderedAscending; if ([obj betterThan: self]) return NSOrderedDescending; return NSOrderedSame; } My problem is that, the betterThan: method might cause a cyclic compare if the objects have the same quality and quantity, and I want to return any sort order in that case. For example, A, B and C have the same quality/quantity, but A betterThan: B => YES B betterThan: C => YES C betterThan: A => YES Solutions? Thanks.

  • Font Anti-Aliasing on iPad SDK

    - by Felix Khazin
    I'm using a custom pixel font on the iPad SDK, and I'm trying to find a way to disable font anti-aliasing for UIFont. Pixel fonts usually work best when they don't have Anti-aliasing. I disable it easily in Photoshop when I create static resources, but this time I need a dynamic output with the custom font. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • dateByAddingComponents problem and getting difference of dates with NSDateComponents problem!

    - by Rob
    I am having problems with adding values to dates and also getting differences between dates. The dates and components calculated are incorrect. So for adding, if I add 1.5 months, I only get 1 month, however if I add any whole number ie (1 or 2 or 3 and etc) it calculates correctly. Float32 addAmount = 1.5; NSDateComponents *components = [[[NSDateComponents alloc] init] autorelease]; [components setMonth:addAmount]; NSCalendar *gregorian = [[[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar] autorelease]; [gregorian setTimeZone:[NSTimeZone timeZoneWithName:@"UTC"]]; NSDate *newDate2 = [gregorian dateByAddingComponents:components toDate:Date1 options:0]; Now for difference, if I have a date that has been added with exactly one year (almost same code as above), it adds correctly, but when the difference is calculated, I get 0 years, 11 months and 30 days. NSDate *startDate = Date1; NSDate *endDate = Date2; NSCalendar *gregorian = [[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar]; [gregorian setTimeZone:[NSTimeZone timeZoneWithName:@"UTC"]]; NSUInteger unitFlags = NSYearCalendarUnit | NSMonthCalendarUnit | NSDayCalendarUnit; NSDateComponents *components = [gregorian components:unitFlags fromDate:startDate toDate:endDate options:0]; NSInteger years = [components year]; NSInteger months = [components month]; NSInteger days = [components day]; What am I doing wrong? Also I have added the kCFCalendarComponentsWrap constanct in the options for both adding and difference functions but with no difference. Thanks

  • UITableView not getting populated

    - by jayshree430
    Hi. I have a peculiar problem. I created a normal Objective c class called SampleTable. I then extended UITableView instead of NSObject. Then in the initWithFrame constructor i initialized the table. I also made a NSMutableArray object for the datasource. I also conformed UITableViewDelegate and UITableViewDatasource. I have overridden the necessary methods also. Now i made an object of this class in another class, and added the object as a subview. The tableView is getting drawn according to the CGRectMake() coordinates i gave to the initWithFrame constructor. But it is not getting populated with the data. I dnt know what the problem is . Can plz someone help me. SampleTable.h #import @interface SampleTable : UITableView { NSMutableArray *ItemArray; } @property (nonatomic,retain) NSMutableArray *ItemArray; -(NSMutableArray *) displayItemArray; @end SampleTable.m #import "SampleTable.h" @implementation SampleTable @synthesize ItemArray; -(id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frm { [super initWithFrame:frm]; self.delegate=self; self.dataSource=self; [self reloadData]; return self; } -(NSMutableArray *) displayItemArray { if(ItemArray==nil) { ItemArray=[[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"1",@"2",@"3",@"4",@"5",nil]; } return ItemArray; } (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [ItemArray count]; } (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell= [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell==nil) { cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; [cell autorelease]; } NSString *temp=[self.ItemArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = temp; return cell; } (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSLog(@"didselect"); } -(void) dealloc { [ItemArray release]; [super dealloc]; } @end

  • How to have two UIPickerViews together in one ViewController?

    - by 0SX
    I'm trying to put 2 UIPickerViews together in one ViewController. Each UIPickerView has different data arrays. I'm using interface builder to link the pickers up. I know I'll have to use separate delegates and dataSources but I can't seem to hook everything up with interface builder correctly. Here's all my code: pickerTesting.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "picker2DataSource.h" @interface pickerTestingViewController : UIViewController <UIPickerViewDelegate, UIPickerViewDataSource>{ IBOutlet UIPickerView *picker; IBOutlet UIPickerView *picker2; NSMutableArray *pickerViewArray; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIPickerView *picker; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIPickerView *picker2; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *pickerViewArray; @end pickerTesting.m #import "pickerTestingViewController.h" @implementation pickerTestingViewController @synthesize picker, picker2, pickerViewArray; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; pickerViewArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [pickerViewArray addObject:@" 100 "]; [pickerViewArray addObject:@" 200 "]; [pickerViewArray addObject:@" 400 "]; [pickerViewArray addObject:@" 600 "]; [pickerViewArray addObject:@" 1000 "]; [picker selectRow:1 inComponent:0 animated:NO]; picker2.delegate = self; picker2.dataSource = self; } - (NSInteger)numberOfComponentsInPickerView:(UIPickerView *)picker; { return 1; } - (void)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)picker didSelectRow:(NSInteger)row inComponent:(NSInteger)component { } - (NSInteger)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)picker numberOfRowsInComponent:(NSInteger)component; { return [pickerViewArray count]; } - (NSString *)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)picker titleForRow:(NSInteger)row forComponent:(NSInteger)component; { return [pickerViewArray objectAtIndex:row]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Release any cached data, images, etc that aren't in use. } - (void)viewDidUnload { // Release any retained subviews of the main view. // e.g. self.myOutlet = nil; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end And I have a separate class for the other datasource. picker2DataSource.h @interface picker2DataSource : NSObject <UIPickerViewDataSource, UIPickerViewDelegate> { NSMutableArray *customPickerArray; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *customPickerArray; @end picker2DataSource.m #import "picker2DataSource.h" @implementation picker2DataSource @synthesize customPickerArray; - (id)init { // use predetermined frame size self = [super init]; if (self) { customPickerArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [customPickerArray addObject:@" a "]; [customPickerArray addObject:@" b "]; [customPickerArray addObject:@" c "]; [customPickerArray addObject:@" d "]; [customPickerArray addObject:@" e "]; } return self; } - (void)dealloc { [customPickerArray release]; [super dealloc]; } - (NSInteger)numberOfComponentsInPickerView:(UIPickerView *)picker2; { return 1; } - (void)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)picker2 didSelectRow:(NSInteger)row inComponent:(NSInteger)component { } - (NSInteger)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)picker2 numberOfRowsInComponent:(NSInteger)component; { return [customPickerArray count]; } - (NSString *)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)picker2 titleForRow:(NSInteger)row forComponent:(NSInteger)component; { return [customPickerArray objectAtIndex:row]; } @end Any help or code examples would be great. Thanks.

  • Adding a header view to a UIWebView similar to Safari and Articles

    - by MrMage
    I'd like to add a header view to an UIWebView similar to the address/search bar in MobileSafari and the excellent Articles.app by Sophia Teutschler. More precisely, I'd like to create a "pull to fix orientation" view above a UIWebView, just like in Articles. Articles does use a UIWebView, so it seems to be possible. Is there a way to accomplish this without having to embed the UIWebView into a UIScrollView and updating its size all the time, as described in this article? Apparently, I do need the scrolling events to have the "pull to fix orientation" behave accordingly.
