  • Framework not found CoreServices

    - by Matthew Brindley
    I'm trying to use CoreServices on the iPhone simulator (I don't need it to run on a device), but my project won't build because of the error: ld: framework not found CoreServices Command /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1 I've added the framework to my project, under frameworks. I also read you need to include CFNetwork.framework, so I've added that too. If I remove CoreServices.framework, the compiler complains about undeclared symbols, as you'd expect. So it seems to use the framework to compile those classes, but then complains it can't find the framework.

  • iPhone: Failed to launch simulated application: Unknown error.

    - by Schubert
    This is a new iPhone project, only 1 target (different from this question) On build we get: Failed to launch simulated application: Unknown error. The google again gives us nothing, lots of people have encountered this and there are lots of crazy ideas to try "oh clean the build", "clear the cache", "twiddle this flag" and none of them work and work consistently. We can reproduce this on two different machines with SDK 2.2.1 and 3.0 beta. Not the install on the machines since other iphone projects work just fine so we believe it has something to do with the config of this particular project but after combing through the config twice we can't spot the problem. Vanna, I'd like to buy a clue for $200 please. Tried: XCode menu-Clear cache Tried: clean all targets Tried: rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/iPhone\ Simulator

  • iphone settings disappear

    - by cagreen
    I have created an app which uses Application Settings and user defaults following the example in the book "Beginning iPhone Development". In some cases my settings seem to disappear. If I launch the simulator I can go into settings and see it, I can then open my app and my settings can be read from within the app. If I then leave my app and go back into the settings screen I can no longer see the settings for my app! I'm new to iPhone dev, is there something obvious that I'm overlooking? Thanks.

  • Table image not showing, "Pop an autorelease pool" error

    - by Graeme
    hi, I have a UITableView which uses the following code to display an image in a Table View cell: cell.imageView.layer.masksToBounds = YES; cell.imageView.layer.cornerRadius = 5.0; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:[[color types] stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]]]; if ( image ) { cell.imageView.image = [image imageScaledToSize:CGSizeMake(50, 50)]; } It works fine on the iPhone simulator, but when I try it on a real iPhone the iPhone doesn't show. Instead in the console in debugging mode, I get this error: attempt to pop an unknown autorelease pool (0x851e00) Any help would be great, thanks.

  • How to Remove Files from the Filesystem in blackberry using Eclipse Plugin

    - by Nirmal
    Hello All... I have just jumped into the Blackberry development arena... I am trying one example for storing a persistence data into Blackberry file system. In that I am using following classes : import net.rim.device.api.system.PersistentObject; import net.rim.device.api.system.PersistentStore From using them I am able to persist the data easily... But now I need to remove it from the file system to experiment with something... So, to remove them I am trying following option from Eclipse plugin : Project -> Blackberry -> clean simulator But once I open this option, it's showing me as disable and giving me some alert like "Please select clean option". Thanks in advance....

  • UIView Clipped By Statusbar until Autorotate

    - by TonyNeallon
    Hi There, Ive created a multiview application that uses multiple controllers to display and control views. The problem Im having is, when the simulator initially loads the view the header is partially covered by the bar at top of screen and the tool bar at the base is not touching the base of the screen. I used the Interface builder size attributes to control the view when the iphone rotates and it works perfectly. All smaps into place perfectly both in landscape and portrait mode AFTER a rotation but the problem is with the initial load before a rotation occurs. Your thoughts a much appreciated. Tony

  • iphone - Can't uninstall app on device

    - by wallou
    hey guys, I am testing my app on my jailbreaked iPhone and i noticed something strange. When i want to uninstall it on device i got no cross to delete the app. All the other apps (not mines) have the white circled cross. Whereas on the simulator i am able to delete my app. Is it because i run it on a jailbreak with a codesign workaround? Or maybe i am missing something in the app plist. Let me know if you have a clue. Wallou

  • Cannot play a recorded sound on device.

    - by B_
    I'm using the exact code from the iPhone Application Programming Guide Multimedia Support to use AVAudioRecorder to record a file to the disk and then AVAudioPlayer to load and play that file. This is working fine in the simulator but is not working on the device. The file gets loaded (we can see the NSTimeInterval) but does not play (play returns false). After it didn't work with the sample code from the website, we tried changing to a bunch of different codecs with no success. And of course, the sound is on. Thanks a bunch.

  • Predicting performance for an iPhone/iPod Touch App

    - by Avizz
    I don't have an iPhone Developer Program Account yet and will be getting one in the next couple of days. Can instruments be used with the simulator to give a rough estimate on how well my app may perform? Using instruments I checked and fixed all the leaks it was detecting, and it appears that my memory usage maxes out at about 5.77mb. Is there any other tests I could perform with instruments to judge how well my app would perform? I realize there is no way other then the actual device to get a definite answer, it would be nice to get an estimate.

    Hi everybody! i'm trying to save some informations in an iphone/ipad app. The problem is that it works but if i close the app (with the home button on the simulator or closing with cmd+q) the informations become lost! this is my code (and, if you see, i used "syncronize") - (IBAction)choose1{ NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [defaults setObject:@"choose1" forKey:@"choose"]; [defaults synchronize]; } - (IBAction)choose2{ NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [defaults setObject:@"choose2" forKey:@"choose"]; [defaults synchronize]; } - (IBAction)openview{ NSString *var = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"choose"]; if (var == @"choose1"){ [self pushViewController:view1 animated:YES];} else if (var == @"choose1"){ [self pushViewController:view2 animated:YES]; } } I don't understand why :(

  • Application icons for Flex mobile app targeting Android and iOS

    - by Alexander Farber
    The Adobe doc Developing AIR applications for mobile devices lists quite a few icons to be declared in an application descriptor file. But when I try Export Release Build with the following myApp-app.xml: <icon> <image16x16>assets/icons/16x16.png</image16x16> <image29x29>assets/icons/29x29.png</image29x29> <image32x32>assets/icons/32x32.png</image32x32> <image36x36>assets/icons/36x36.png</image36x36> <image48x48>assets/icons/48x48.png</image48x48> <image57x57>assets/icons/57x57.png</image57x57> <image72x72>assets/icons/72x72.png</image72x72> <image114x114>assets/icons/114x114.png</image114x114> <image128x128>assets/icons/128x128.png</image128x128> <image512x512>assets/icons/512x512.png</image512x512> <!-- <image50x50>assets/icons/50x50.png</image50x50> <image58x58>assets/icons/58x58.png</image58x58> <image100x100>assets/icons/100x100.png</image100x100> <image144x144>assets/icons/144x144.png</image144x144> <image1024x1024>assets/icons/1024x1024.png</image1024x1024> --> </icon> I get the error message (regardless if deploying for Android or iOS) unless I comment the 5 lines as above: error 103: application.icon.image50x50 is an unexpected element/attribute error 103: application.icon.image58x58 is an unexpected element/attribute error 103: application.icon.image100x100 is an unexpected element/attribute error 103: application.icon.image1024x1024 is an unexpected element/attribute error 103: application.icon.image144x144 is an unexpected element/attribute My question is what to do here? • Singleton Issues in iOS http client

    - by Andrew Lauer Barinov
    I implemented an HTTP client is iOS that is meant to be a singleton. It is a subclass of AFNetworking's excellent AFHTTPClient My access method is pretty standard: + (LBHTTPClient*) sharedHTTPClient { static dispatch_once_t once = 0; static LBHTTPClient *sharedHTTPClient = nil; dispatch_once(&once, ^{ sharedHTTPClient = [[LBHTTPClient alloc] initHTTPClient]; }); return sharedHTTPClient; } // my init method - (id) initHTTPClient { self = [super initWithBaseURL:[NSURL URLWithString:kBaseURL]]; if (self) { // Sub class specific initializations } return self; } Super's init method is very long, and can be found here However the problem I experience is when the dispatch_once queue is run, the app locks and become unresponsive. When I step through code, I notice that it locks on dispatch_once and then remains frozen. Is this something to do with the main thread locking down? How come it stays locked like that? Also, none of the HTTP client methods fire. Stepping through the code some more, I find this line in dispatch/once.h is where the app locks down: DISPATCH_INLINE DISPATCH_ALWAYS_INLINE DISPATCH_NONNULL_ALL DISPATCH_NOTHROW void _dispatch_once(dispatch_once_t *predicate, dispatch_block_t block) { if (DISPATCH_EXPECT(*predicate, ~0l) != ~0l) { dispatch_once(predicate, block); // App locks here } }

  • Why Doesn't UIWebView release all of its memory?

    - by Theory
    I have a graphic-intensive iPad app that features a UIWebView. Using the simulator (iOS 4.2.1), I can see Real Mem increase quite a lot as I browse. The more I browse, the more RAM it uses. When I close the UIWebView and release it, some of the memory it used is freed, but not all of it. This is annoying. Okay, so maybe it's because it isn't deallocated right away. Fine. But then I would expect the system to do some cleanup when there's a memory warning. However, if I browse around, then close the UIWebView (and release it), then trigger a memory warning in the simulator, Real Mem does not change! WTF? So why is this? Why isn't UIWebView better at releasing memory back to the system? And why doesn't it appear to respond to memory warnings? Am I missing something?

  • Reading Certificates on iOS Problem

    - by David Schiefer
    I am trying to read certificates from various URLs in iOS. My code however is not working well - the array that should return the information I need always returns null. What am I missing? - (void)findCertificate:(NSString *)url { NSInputStream*input = [[NSInputStream inputStreamWithData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"https://store.writeitstudios.com"]]] retain]; [input setDelegate:self]; [input scheduleInRunLoop:[NSRunLoop mainRunLoop] forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]; [input open]; NSLog(@"Status: %i",[input streamStatus]); } - (void)stream:(NSStream *)aStream handleEvent:(NSStreamEvent)eventCode { NSLog(@"handle Event: %i",eventCode); if (eventCode == NSStreamStatusOpen) { NSArray *certificates = (NSArray*)CFReadStreamCopyProperty((CFReadStreamRef)aStream, kCFStreamPropertySSLPeerCertificates); NSLog(@"Certs: %@",CFReadStreamCopyProperty((CFReadStreamRef)aStream, kCFStreamPropertySSLPeerCertificates)); if ([certificates count] > 0) { SecCertificateRef certificate = (SecCertificateRef)[certificates objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *description = (NSString*)SecCertificateCopySubjectSummary(certificate); NSData *data = (NSData *)SecCertificateCopyData(certificate); NSLog(@"Description: %@",description); } } } And yes, I am aware that I am leaking memory. This is just a snippet.

  • Can't find momd file: Core Data problems

    - by thekevinscott
    Aw geez! I screwed something up! I'm a Core Data noob, working on my first iOS app. After much Stack Overflowing I'm using this code: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"momd"]; if (!path) { path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"mom"]; } NSAssert(path != nil, @"Unable to find Resource in main bundle"); CoreData is the name of my app. I've tried to put in initial data into the app by finding the path to the sqlite file in my iPhone simulator, and then going and inserting into that sqlite file. But at some point, I moved the sqlite (thinking it would create a fresh copy), deleted the app from the simulator, and the sqlite file is gone. I'm not sure if I'm leaving out some part of the process (this was a few hours ago) but the end result is that everything is screwed up. How do I resubstantiate this sqlite / momd file? "Clean" and "Clean all targets" are grayed out. I'm happy to post the relevant code from my app that would help shed some light on this problem but there's tons of code relating to Core Data which I don't understand, so I'm not sure what part to post! Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Creating a dynamic two-column iOS spinning wheel with HTML/Javascript

    - by JSW189
    I am trying to create a dynamic two-column spinning wheel for iOS Safari using this HTML/Javascript wheel. However, I am having trouble getting the value of the first column to change the results of the second column. I have tried using an if statement to get the value of the first variable (var beverage) and add the value of the second column correspondingly. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong/if there is a better approach? function openBirthDate() { var beverage = { 1:'Coffee', 2:'Soda' }; //THIS IS WHERE I'M HAVING TROUBLE var results = SpinningWheel.getSelectedValues(); if (results.values === 1) { var company = { 1:'Starbucks', 2:'Dunkin Donuts' }; } else { var company = { 1:'Coke', 2:'Pepsi' }; } var size = { 1:'Tall', 2:'Grande', 3:'Venti' }; SpinningWheel.addSlot(type, '', 1); SpinningWheel.addSlot(company, '', 1); SpinningWheel.addSlot(size, '', 1); SpinningWheel.setCancelAction(cancel); SpinningWheel.setDoneAction(done); SpinningWheel.open(); } function done() { var results = SpinningWheel.getSelectedValues(); document.getElementById('result').innerHTML = 'values: ' + results.values.join(' ') + '<br />keys: ' + results.keys.join(', '); } function cancel() { document.getElementById('result').innerHTML = 'cancelled!'; } window.addEventListener('load', function(){ setTimeout(function(){ window.scrollTo(0,0); }, 100); }, true);

    hi i have a UIButton made programmatically and i want to add the target and the action for that button. i have use method addTarget: action: forControlEvents: in IOS 4.1 this method is detected, but in 4.2 it didn't, here is my code float version = [[[UIDevice currentDevice] systemVersion] floatValue]; if(version <= 4.1){ moreButton = [[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(6.3+5*widthSegment, 0.0, widthSegment, heightSegment)]; [moreButton addTarget:self action:@selector(getPopOverMore:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; } else{ //version 4.2 NSLog(@"versi 4.2"); moreButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; moreButton.frame = CGRectMake(6.3+7*widthSegment, 0.0, widthSegment, heightSegment); [moreButton addTarget:self action:@selector(getPopOverMore:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; } and this is the action method : - (IBAction)getPopOverMore:(id)sender{ if(moreFileController == nil) { moreFileController = [[MoreFilePopController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; moreFileController.delegate = self; moreFilePopOverController = [[UIPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:moreFileController]; } CGRect frameMore = CGRectMake(6.3+5*widthSegment, 0.0, widthSegment, heightSegment); [moreFilePopOverController presentPopoverFromRect:frameMore inView:navBar permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionUp animated:YES]; } any body know, what's wrong here??

  • Thread is being killed by the OS

    - by Or.Ron
    I'm currently programming an app that extracts frames from a movie clip. I designed it so that the extraction will be done on a separate thread to prevent the application from freezing. The extraction process itself is taking a lot of resources, but works fine when used in the simulator. However, there are problems when building it for the iPad. When I perform another action (I'm telling my AV player to play while I extract frames), the thread unexpectedly stops working, and I believe it's being killed. I assume it's becauase I'm using a lot of resources, but not entirely sure. Here are my questions: 1. How can I tell if/why my thread stopping? 2. If it's really from over processing what should I do? I really need this action to be implemented. Heres some code im using: To create the thread: [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(startReading) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; I'll post any information you need, Thanks so much! Update I'm using GCD now and it populates the threads for me. However the OS still kills the threads. I know exactly when is it happening. when i tell my [AVplayer play]; it kills the thread. This issue is only happening in the actual iPad and not on the simulator

  • iPhone SDK File Handler with iOS 4 Background Processes

    - by David Higgins
    The "application:applicationDidFinishLaunchingWithOptions:" message does not get called when an application is sitting in the background in iOS 4, and I'm trying to figure out how to be notified when the application is brought back into the foreground by another application. My application registers itself as a handler for certain file types, and Safari and other supported applications allow passing the files over to my app. This works great if the app is closed before I try to use it, but fails otherwise. In my application:applicationDidFinishLaunchingWithOptions: I have: NSURL *url = (NSURL *)[launchOptions valueForKey:UIApplicationLaunchOptionsURLKey]; if([url isFileURL]) { } [self.window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; As stated already, this works great so far for starting the app when it's not sitting in the background - but when I switch back over to Safari or Mail and try to open a new file that is supported, my application wakes up from the background and becomes active again but I can't see any "withOptions" overrides for application:applicationWillEnterForeground: or any way to identify what was passed in when it enters the foreground. What would be the appropriate way to receive these "open file notifications" when the application is in the background?

  • NSURL Connection will/won't load data

    - by jkap
    So here's my issue: I followed the NSURLConnection tutorial in the iPhone Developer Documentation almost to the T, and it only kinda works. Here's where it all goes wrong: The object seems to be created correctly and delegates to connectionDidFinishLoading, but with any URL I try to load the response data always ends up only being 0 bytes. I am running in the simulator if that makes any difference. Here's my relevant code: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.title = @"WVFS Player"; //create a request NSURLRequest *theRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://wvfs.josh-kaplan.com/nowPlaying.php"] cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60.0]; // create a connection NSURLConnection *theConnection=[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; if(theConnection) { // create the datum responseData=[[NSMutableData data] retain]; } else { // code this later } } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response { [responseData setLength:0]; } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { // make it work NSLog(@"Succeeded! Received %d bytes of data:",[responseData length]); // release it [connection release]; [responseData release]; } And here's my log output: [Session started at 2010-03-14 09:01:09 -0400.] 2010-03-14 09:01:14.784 WVFS[19571:207] Succeeded!
