• Access denied when trying to open files/folders after reinstall [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Access Denied when saving a file in Windows 7 I installed Windows 7 fresh on a new machine. Now when I unarchive (winrar or 7z etc. ) to Program files (x86) (for example), access denied. Even if I copy a file to a folder I installed an app to it is still access denied. I checked the security, it looks like full control is given to the creator - this is weird as I never ran across this before (same version of Windows 7 - its just a fresh install after some new hardware). It is the same effect as if I was editing the hosts file, and you do not use "run as admin" you will not be able to save it, yo will have to save it somewhere else. This "file copy" issue I ran into is the same. I could change all these permissions, however this is something I never had to do before. I am the admin, why did the install, not give me "full control"? How can this be globally fixed. I cannot change the permissions - they are greyed out - so that is weird as well. If I was a standard reason, It would make sense, however, again, I am the admin.

• What could be causing windows to fail to sleep or hibernate, and revert system settings?

  I am running Windows 8.1 on my system (Dell e6520) and the symptoms are this: My PC won't sleep or hibernate. It the screen turns off, but the fans just run and run, and after a little while, it completely shuts down, and when I start it back up, everything is closed, like it was a fresh boot/restart. I'm have a weird issue with outlook described here and the fix works fine - modifying a registry value. The weirder part is that after my computer fails to sleep or hibernate, and it starts back up, the registry value is GONE, like I never modified it, and thus the outlook error message is back. I thought maybe a graphics driver was preventing the sleep/hibernate, so I attempted to uninstall the NVIDIA graphics driver and control panel. HOWEVER, once the computer fails to sleep/hibernate, the NVIDIA graphics driver and control panel appear BACK on my system, like I didn't uninstall them. What could be happening here? I really need to be able to sleep/hibernate so I don't lose work or my work state, and these issues are really concerning. What I've tried, without success: Uninstalling graphics driver mentioned above Disabling hibernate and using sleep disabling/re-enabling hibernate Disabling startup items Sleeping as local system admin account disconnecting all USB, network, and bluetooth devices

  Hi, In large server environments, how do you handle the issue of backing up SQL Server dbs which may not be in sync with other dbs they rely on? So if I back up DB1 from a server, and it uses another db which is not backed up, doing a restore when the dbs are in differing state could cause problems? It seems like all dependent DBs should be backed up, regardless of size etc, but in my current job (where we're a datacentre company and I'm a .NET Developer), I only backup some of several dependent DBs on a SQL Server instance.   HI COMUNITY!!!! I want to use L2E since it s very convenient to my company's apps, I created a demo project, the demo does run on every machine but when I, lets say, press a button that has some code that uses the entity I get this error: specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid. note that I get this error only on machines that does not have VS2008 installed, on these machines (the ones with VS2008) the demo works well. any advice is appreciated. I am using MySql server with Mysql Conector 6.3 and the model is created with ADO.Net entitiy model.   Hi, I use in WFP Caliburn.Micro Framework. I need bindable richTextbox for Document property. I found many ways how do it bindable richTextBox. But I have one problem. From parent window I open child window. Child window consist bindable richTextBox user control. After I close child window and use memory profiler view class with bindabelrichTextBox control and view model class is still hanging in memory. - this cause memory leaks. If I use richTextBox from .NET Framework or richTextBox from Extended WPF Toolkit it doesn’t cause this memory leak problem. I can’t identified problem in bindable richTextBox class.   First of all: I am quite new to Ubuntu (and Linux and servers in all). When I am trying to install ex phpmyadmin from apt-get, I get the Error: E: Couldn't configure pre-depend upstart-job for hostname, probably a dependency cycle. Can anyone tell me why this happens, and what I can do to fix it? I am running Ubuntu Server 7.10 . /Christoffer ---EDIT--- I found the problem - and the solution!   Introduction:          ASP.NET MVC 3 just released by ASP.NET MVC team which includes some new features, some changes, some improvements and bug fixes. In this article, I will show you the new features of ASP.NET MVC 3. This will help you to get started using the new features of ASP.NET MVC 3. Full details of this announcement is available at Announcing release of ASP.NET MVC 3, IIS Express, SQL CE 4, Web Farm Framework, Orchard, WebMatrix.   Description:       New Razor View Engine:              Razor view engine is one of the most coolest new feature in ASP.NET MVC 3. Razor is speeding things up just a little bit more. It is much smaller and lighter in size. Also it is very easy to learn. You can say ' write less, do more '. You can get start and learn more about Razor at Introducing “Razor” – a new view engine for ASP.NET.         Granular Request Validation:             Another biggest new feature in ASP.NET MVC 3 is Granular Request Validation. Default request validator will throw an exception when he see < followed by an exclamation(like <!) or < followed by the letters a through z(like <s) or & followed by a pound sign(like &#123) as a part of querystring, posted form, headers and cookie collection. In previous versions of ASP.NET MVC, you can control request validation using ValidateInputAttriubte. In ASP.NET MVC 3 you can control request validation at Model level by annotating your model properties with a new attribute called AllowHtmlAttribute. CompareAttribute allows you to compare the values of two different properties of a model. ASP.NET MVC 3 adds two additional value providers, ChildActionValueProvider and JsonValueProvider(JsonValueProvider is not physically exist).  ChildActionValueProvider is used when you issue a child request using Html.Action and/or Html.RenderAction methods, so that your explicit parameter values in Html.Action and/or Html.RenderAction will always take precedence over other value providers. JsonValueProvider is used to model bind JSON data. This property is used when looking up a view by path (and not by name), so that only views with a file extension contained in the list specified by this new property is considered. For example, if have you a Model that contains some overridden properties then client side validation will not trigger for overridden properties in ASP.NET MVC 2 but client side validation will work for overridden properties in ASP.NET MVC 3.           Client side validation is not supported for StringLengthAttribute.MinimumLength property in ASP.NET MVC 2. In ASP.NET MVC 3 client side validation will work for StringLengthAttribute.MinimumLength property.           ASP.NET MVC 3 includes new action results like HttpUnauthorizedResult, HttpNotFoundResult and HttpStatusCodeResult.           ASP.NET MVC 3 includes some new overloads of LabelFor and LabelForModel methods. • Opening Skype, Opera, OpenOffice logs me off

  Whats common among Skype, Opera, OpenOffice in Ubuntu ? Whenever I open these applications I get logged off and shows back me the login screen. This started happening since the 10.10 upgrade. Forgot to mention : Yes, its x64.Each time I open these applications, the UI shows and then crashes. I started each app & logged the last few lines of /var/log/syslog after each crash. Looks like something to do with sound drivers ? Opera :Jan 8 09:33:20 al-ubuntu pulseaudio[11532]: pid.c: Daemon already running. Jan 8 09:33:21 al-ubuntu pulseaudio[11429]: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_avail_delay() returned strange values: delay 0 is less than avail 8. Jan 8 09:33:21 al-ubuntu pulseaudio[11429]: alsa-util.c: Most likely this is a bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_hda_intel'. Please report this issue to the ALSA developers. • Broadband wireless drivers don't work

  I have a Dell Latitude E6520 which is a Ubuntu 12.04 certified hardware. However the driver assigned to the Dell Wireless 5630 (EVDO-HSPA) Mobile Broadband Mini-Card doesn't seem to work. When I boot in Windows 7 I connect to Verizon dialing *99# with no username or password but it won't connect using Ubuntu. The windows drivers are from Novatel Wireless Inc 1.0.0.6 if that helps. This is also an internal card not USB and the hardware Id is USB\VID_413C&PID_8194&REV_0002&MI_00 If anyone can help me with obtaining the correct driver or maybe some other way of getting it to work I would be very grateful. My job requires traveling and I need internet access but hate using Win7.

  Possible Duplicate: Best approach to learning web programming I have resisted doing web programming for a while, but I have come to the realization that I need to learn it and may have resisted do to fear of the unknown. I am a regular applications and systems programmer with no real idea of how to even get started. I have tried to start a few times, rails, django, tornado, web.py, cherrypy, but always get discouraged and quit. The most web programming I have done was in HTML during 1995 for my geocities site. I have pretty decent experience with regular programming in C, Python, Assembly and Java. Just looking for a way to get started and get a good overview of the different technologies and frameworks. I am not doing this for a job or employment, just to learn.
