  • Chrome Open in New Tab/Window Menu Items

    The problem is, both Firefox and Internet Explorer have "Open in New Tab" as the second option. This has become muscle memory for me by now, to the point that I don't use as often as I want to, solely because I can't open a page in a new tab without thinking about it. Is there a way to switch the position of "Open Link in new tab" and "Open link in new window", so that I can resume browsing as normal, or am I cursed by this user interface design nightmare by Google?

  • I need help with Widget and PendingIntents

    Hi, I've asked here a question about Task Killers and widgets stop working (SO Question) but now, I have reports of user that they don't use any Task Killer and the widgets didn't work after a while. I have a Nexus One and I don't have this problem. I don't know if this is a problem of memory or something. Based on the API: A PendingIntent itself is simply a reference to a token maintained by the system describing the original data used to retrieve it. This means that, even if its owning application's process is killed, the PendingIntent itself will remain usable from other processes that have been given it. So, I don't know why widget stop working, if Android doesn't kill the PendingIntent by itself, what's the problem? So, my rules are : DST start the second sunday of March at 2am DST end the first sunday of november at 2am In 2012 (now) this give us the march 11 at 2am and November 4 at 2am You can see my test dates are set properly!!! I can see from the server log files that the script does not arrive on the Project page. I am new to webrat and quite new to ruby and I am now thoroughly confused. I have no idea why the response.body is gone. I have no idea where I am. I speculated that I had to wait for the page request, but all documentation says that webrat nicely waits till all redirects, pageloads, etc are finished. (At least I think I read that). Besides I find no method to wait for the page in the webrat API. Can someone give some tips on how to proceed with debugging this?

  • RemoteViewsService never gets called whenever we update app widget

    I am making one task widget application. This is a simple widget application which can be used to add new tasks by clicking on "+New Task". So ideally what I have done is, I've added a widget first, then when we click on "+New Task" a new activity opens up from where we can type in a new task and it should get updated in the ListView inside the home screen widget. Problem: Now whenever I add a new task, the ListView does not get updated. The data gets inside the database a new is created as well. My onUpdate(...) method gets called as well. There is a WidgetService.java which is a RemoteViewService that is being used to call the RemoteViewFactory but WidgetService.java gets called only when we create the widget, never after that. WidgetService.java never gets called again.   • cherrypy fails to stop when puppet tries to ensure running and refresh it at the same time

    I am trying to manage a cherrypy service with puppet. However, when the configuration is applied, cherryd ends up with no PID file although the process is up and running. Since the PID file is lost I can no longer stop the process with /etc/init.d/mycherryd stop (unless I modify the handmade init script to lookup the PID with ps or something.) $ /etc/init.d/mycherryd status cherryd dead but subsys locked The problem seems to be that puppet is trying to refresh/restart cherryd (triggered by changes in configuration files) immediately after ensuring it's running (as specified in the manifest), and cherrypy fails to stop and start (restart) itself while still executing its startup process. Is there a clear cut solution to this problem? Is this a bug on the cherrypy side, or can I write a puppet manifest so refresh is called only after the service is up and running? I don't have direct control over the firewall, but if changes are necessary to make it work, I may be able to get the powers-that-be to make adjustments. A solution that doesn't require reconfiguring the firewall would be far better of course... Does anyone know what I can do to make this behave? Thanks, Dan

  • How to effectively gather info about how players play my HTML5 game?

    I'm finishing another HTML5 game, and this time I'd like to do some spying business on the players... Mostly just basic stuff: when they are playing, for how long, what upgrades they are buying the most and so on. Now, my first idea was just to collect this information during the gameplay, and then have a Javascript function fire when they close the tab/browser, and said function would send it to my server via Socket.io. This, of course, wouldn't work, because anyone who takes a look at the code would realize it and could start sending a tonne of false info which would mess up my statistics. Questions: Is there a way to effectively do this? If yes, what kind of info should I be looking for, aside from stuff I already mentioned?

  • Any learning/studying material for C/C++ that use game programming as learning context out there?

    As most of game programming is done - I read on this very site - in C/C++ I was wondering if there is any learning/studying material for C/C++ that would target specifically game programming. I am not looking for material about "developing games" or "software architecture for games", but rather for material that uses "game programming" as the CONTEXT for introducing and illustrating C/C++ features, idioms, programming techniques, etc... With a simile: think to the GOF book on design patterns. There, they used "developing a text-editor" as a context for introducing design patterns, but the book is most definitively not a book about "developing text-editors". Thanks in advance for your time and advice! PS: My background: I am a programmer with a solid experience in OO scripting languages and only some experience in C and Assembler (on AVR microcontrollers), so I am thinking to mid-to-advanced level material, rather than tutorials for beginners, although it might be interesting to take a look to the latter ones if nothing else is available.

  • How can I spoof a jndi lookup for a datasource without a app server

    I want to test some new functionality which is part of an internal web app. This new code uses a database connection normally provided by an app server (tomcat). I do not want to recreate the entire web app on my local machine to test the new code, since I only need to run one function. Does anyone know how I can 'spoof' a Context, or Datasource, to retrieve the database config, without actually creating a web app instance on a server? Thanks
