    Hi! I have been reading SO for some time now, but I truly cannot find any help for my problem. I have a c++ assignment to create an IAS simulator. Here is some sample code... 0 1 a 1 2 b 2 c 3 1 10 begin 11 . load a, subtract b and offset by -1 for jump+ 11 load M(0) 12 sub M(1) 13 sub M(3) 14 halt Using c++, I need to be able to read these lines and store them in a "memory register" class that I already have constructed... For example, the first line would need to store "1 a" in register zero. How can I parse out the number at the line beginning and then store the rest as a string? I have setup storage using a class that is called using mem.set(int, string);. int is the memory location at the beginning of the line and string is the stored instruction.

    I am to write a program that does this: ?- pLeap(2,5,X,Y). X = 2, Y = 3 ; X = 3, Y = 4 ; X = 4, Y = 5 ; X = 5, Y = 5 ; false. (gives all pairs X,X+1 between 2 and 5, plus the special case at the end). This is supposedly the solution. I don't really understand how it works, could anyone guide me through it? pLeap(X,X,X,X). pLeap(L,H,X,Y) :- L<H, X is L, Y is X+1. pLeap(L,H,X,Y) :- L=<H, L1 is L+1, pLeap(L1,H,X,Y). I'd do it simply like this: pLeap(L,H,X,Y) :- X >= L, X =< H, Y is X+1. Why doesn't it work (ignoring the special case at the end)?

    I have a game that one player X wants to pass a ball to player Y, but he can be playing with more than one player and the others players can pass the ball to Y. I want to know how many different paths can the ball take from X to Y? for example if he is playing with 3 players there are 5 different paths, 4 players 16 paths, if he is playing with 20 players there are 330665665962404000 paths, and 40 players 55447192200369381342665835466328897344361743780 that the ball can take. the number max. of players that he can play with is 500. I was thinking in using Catalan Numbers? do you think is a correct approach to solve this? Can you give me some tips.

    I have a program that will read the number of rows and columns from a txt file. Also, the program has to read the contents of a 2D array from the same file. Here is the txt file 8 20 * * *** *** 8 and 20 are the number of rows and columns respectively. An answer I had from the other question I asked told me that the line where the error occurs is wrong in that bookNum.charAt(i) is an (immutable) string, and I can't get the values into a book array that way. What I need to do on my assignment is check an ISBN number (bookNum) to see that it is all numbers, except the last digit can be an 'x' (valid ISBN). Is this the best way to do it? If so, what the hell am I doing wrong? If not, what method would be a better one to use?

  • Very simple code for number search gives me infinite loop

    Hello, I am a newbie Computer Science high school student and I have trouble with a small snippet of code. Basically, my code should perform a basic CLI search in an array of integers. However, what happens is I get what appears to be an infinite loop (BlueJ, the compiler I'm using, gets stuck and I have to reset the machine).   • Chat Server with sockets in C

    I'm trying to write a chat server in C that allows communication between two clients using POSIX sockets. I'm not sure I have a good grasp on this concept or how I should set up the communication protocol between the clients and the server. I know I need one socket to bind() the server port to so I can accept incoming connections from clients, but in order to have two clients connected at the same time do I need to create a socket for each of these clients when I accept() or should I accept() a client and then fork() so I can have another client accept? I'm not worried about concurrent chatting yet, it's more of a ping-pong approach where the clients need to wait for a recv() after they send() before they can type a new message.

    I have task to prepare two windows with swing. One contains grid of squares, with random numbers in them. In second I need to load pieces of tiled image and then show them in the correct order, forming tiled image. I've used swing only few times to draw some 2d polylines, so basically I just theoretically now what to do. Ok, so window number 1: I start with creating Jframe for the window. Then I do for loop and in it create 16 JLabels with random numbers in them ? How to set margins between each tile and the whole window ? Window number 2 : So I start the same, but instead of loading numbers I add images ? Now, how can I load image from file and then set it as background ?

    I have to have multiple classes for this program. The problem is, I don't fully understand arrays and how they work, so I'm a little lost.     I am supposed to make this simple program. It produces a multiplication problem, and when the user types the correct answer, it is supposed to produce another question. Instead it goes into an infinite loop and never stops, the answer field and the button go away. Also, I am supposed to make the comment about the users answer, one of 4 different sayings. Without using Arrays how would I do that?   • What data stucture should I use for BigInt class

    I would like to implement a BigInt class which will be able to handle really big numbers. I want only to add and multiply numbers, however the class should also handle negative numbers. I wanted to represent the number as a string, but there is a big overhead with converting string to int and back for adding. I want to implement addition as on the high school, add corresponding order and if the result is bigger than 10, add the carry to next order. Then I thought that it would be better to handle it as a array of unsigned long long int and keep the sign separated by bool. With this I'm afraid of size of the int, as C++ standard as far as I know guarantees only that int < float < double. Correct me if I'm wrong. So when I reach some number I should move in array forward and start adding number to the next array position. Is there any data structure that is appropriate or better for this? Thanks in advance.
