• How to skip the invalid rows while inserting the data into Database

  We have a statement., that is inserting some rows in a temporary table (say e.g., 10 rows), while inserting 5th row, it has some issue with one of the column format and giving an error and then it stopped inserting the rows. What I want is, it should skip the error rows and insert valid rows. • How do I enumerate installed OleDb providers for current processor architecture?

  I've a project that connects to a dBase format database file, that I've always done in the past with a connection string of the form of: PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=MyData.dbf;Extended Properties=dBASE 5.0 I've had to revisit this recently, and have found that when attempting to create an OleDbConnection with that connection string on x64 machines, that have an x86 install of Office on it, it throws an exception. A quick hack of a fix shows that forcing the application to target x86 only makes it work, but I was hoping to be able to tidy this up and check in advance whether it would fail to create the connection, so that I could customise my import options to suit the available providers. Is it possible to enumerate the available data providers for the current processor architecture? (other than relying on catching the exception -- after all, the Framework Design Guidelines suggest that you should only throw in exceptional circumstances, and you have a method to check if something would throw an exception)

• removing the single quote from a list of

  I need to append/format a url with a list of ids for an api call however, when i put the list at the end of the api https://api.twitter.com/1.1/users/lookup.json?user_id=%s'%a i just get an empty string as a response. i have tried turning the list into a string and removing the square brackets doing a = str(followers['ids'])[1:-1] but i still get the same problem. and im assuming that its being caused by the single quote at the start. i have tried removing the apostrophe from the string doing a.replace("'", "") and now i have run out of ideas thanks

  I sometimes need to search code for patterns in a way that goes beyond the regex capabilities of Visual Studio (e.g. patterns that depend on what was seen previously in the file or on the contents of other files). So I use Perl to analyze the source and output matching lines, along with the file name and line number. Since this is the exact same format as is produced by the search feature of Visual Studio, I wonder if there is a way to duplicate the functionality where I can double-click on a line and it will display that line in context in Visual Studio. Any ideas?

• Build turns partially transparent image pixels black

  I'm very new to C# and I've run into a problem and haven't been able to solve it. I have a row of buttons that have .png images assigned to them. The images are in .png format to allow transparency, and smoothing the edges in GIMP leaves some semi-transparent pixels. I've set the Image List Toolbar (imglToolbar)'s properties to recognize "Transparent" as the designated color to show up as transparent. I'm working in Visual Studio 2005. The strange thing is that everything looks great when I'm viewing the Visual C# form preview window. The icons look exactly as they should. However, once I actually build the project, the buttons treat every semi-transparent pixel near the edge of the image as if it's black. • android, find the nearest location without going through all the locations

  I am building a taxi dispatching app first: I need the passenger app to show the nearest taxis, now I know how to do that in code but in my way I have to go through all the taxis locations(in database on server) and calculate the distance from the passenger location and get the lowest ones - I don't want to do this because there will be a lot of taxis and going through all of them and making some math is kind of pain on the server- is there a way to get the nearest ones without going through all of them? second: what the best database to use - first, should it be sql or non-sql - I need a very robust database, because there will be a lot of updates (I mean the passengers locations added then deleted when arriving to destination && the taxis location changes frequently) finally: I will use RubyOnRails to do the server side and json as data transfer format, do you have a recommendation to me on something better?   I'm reading some data from avro file using the avro library. It takes about a minute to load 33K objects from the file. This seem very slow to me, specially with the Java version reading the same file in about 1sec.   Hi, A lot of interesting code/projects are implementations of protocols, eg SNMP. How are projects like these, which depend on implementing a certain format, developed? Is the process something like get the guidelines of the protocol and then implement code which follows it. For example, XML-RPC is about transmitting XML docs between client/server, so the documentation on this protocol must outline the structure of the XML documents and then the way the transportation between client and server works, so the coder will implement this sort of functionality (xml doc construction, networking between the client and server). Projects I am thinking of (not to develop) are C# libraries which can interpret .PSDs, make VHDs, etc. So if I was to develop a C# app to implement .AI files (Illustrator files), what would be the steps I would look at (such as contacting Adobe, etc)? Is this the way such projects are developed?

  I am curious about how c/c++ compiler analyse lib files ? I mean say I create a library containing some classes, I am using that library in my main program. How does compiler know what class names are there in that library. Of course that information is present in binary format, I want to use that functionality in my program, to be specific I have a binary lib file and I want to know all classes and properties/functions present in that lib file. • Does MultiThreading in Java takes much time for task completion?

  I have to search for a string in 10 large size files (in zip format 70 MB) and have to print the lines with the search string to corresponding 10 output files.(i.e. file 1 output should be in output_file1...file2--- output_file2). The same program takes 15 mins for a single file. But if use 10 threads to read 10 files and to write in 10 different files it should complete in 15 mins but its taking 40 mins. How can I solve this. Or multithreading will take this much time only?

• FtpWebResponse and StreamReader - specifying an offset

  Hi, I am using the FtpWebRequest / FtpWebResponse objects in C# to download files from a server - so far, so good. I create a StreamReader object from the response stream and use a StreamWriter to create a local file. Now, the file I am reading happens to be in a very simple 'archive' format - there is a small TOC at the start of the file followed by the actual file data. I can therefore read the TOC and get a file offset and size of the data I want to download. My question is: Supposing the offset is 1024. I would use StreamReader.Read(buffer, 1024, length), but will .NET and the FTP protocol actually allow me to skip bytes 0-1023, or does the reader still go through the (relatively) slow process of downloading and discarding the bytes I don't need? This may make the difference between whether I want to use a single archive file, or a TOC file with the data files stored separately. As a bit of a secondary question, would my mileage vary using the Http classes instead of Ftp? Cheers, Adam

  I have a form in one controller(A) that renders a partial from another controller(B), and stays on A's edit page during editing / updating etc. However... When the partial form form controller B has an error, the error doesn't show up on A's edit page right now, if there is an error, I am doing (in controller B's update method) redirect_to :controller => "A", :action => "edit" and then this is built in... but I don't know what to do with it... the error needs to be sent to controller A... but.. it doesn't format.xml { render :xml => @varFromB.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } thanks

  I'm new to Python scripting, so please forgive me in advance if the answer to this question seems inherently obvious. I'm trying to put together a large-scale find-and-replace script using Python. Specifically, I want it to find some information (metadata) specified at the top of a text file. Eg: Title: This is the title Author: This is the author Date: This is the date and convert it into LaTeX format. Eg: \title{This is the title} \author{This is the author} \date{This is the date} Maybe I'm tackling this the wrong way. If there's a better way than regular expressions please let me know! Thanks!

  In short, how to add minutes to a datetime from an integer located in another table, in one select statement, by joining them? I have a table P(int id, ..., int minutes) and a table S(int id, int p_id, datetime start) I want to generate a view that gives me PS(S.id, P.id, S.start + P.minutes) by joining S.p_id=P.id The problem is, if I was generating the query from the application, I can do stuff like: select datetime('2010-04-21 14:00', '+20 minutes'); 2010-04-21 14:20:00 By creating the string '+20 minutes' in the application and then passing it to sqlite. However I can't find a way to create this string in the select itself: select p.*,datetime(s.start_at, formatstring('+%s minutes', p.minutes)) from p,s where s.p_id=p.id; Because sqlite as far the documentation tells, does not provide any string format function, nor can I see any alternative way of expressing the date modifiers.

  Hello, I've got the following problem: I have two tables: (simplified) +--------+ +-----------+ | User | | Role | +--------+ +-----------+ | ID<PK> | | ID <PK> | +--------+ | Name | +-----------+ and M:N relationship between them +-------------+ | User_Role | +-------------+ | User<FK> | | Role<FK> | +-------------+ I need to create a view, which selects me: User, and in one column, all of his Roles (this is done by group_concat). I've tried following: SELECT u.*, group_concat(r.Name separator ',') as Roles FROM User u LEFT JOIN User_Role ur ON ur.User=u.ID LEFT JOIN Role r ON ur.Role=r.ID GROUP BY u.ID; However, this works for an user with some defined roles. Users without role aren't returned. How can I modify the statement, to return me User with empty string in Roles column when User doesn't have any Role? Explanation: I'm passing the SQL data directly to a grid, which then formats itself, and it is easier for me to create slow and complicated view, than to format it in my code. I'm using MySQL

• Turing's Craft exercise stumped me... seems too easy.

  "Write a for loop that prints the integers 1 through 40, separated by spaces or new lines. You may use only one variable, count which has already been declared as an integer." So I use... for(count = 1; count <= 40; count++) { cout << " " << count; } but they are using stdio.h as the only header and cout is not recognized. It hints that the output format should be (" ",count), but I can't figure out what print function to use. stdio.h can use fprintf or fwrite, but I don't have enough parameters for either function. Any ideas?

  Assume you want to read an image file in a common file format from the hard drive, change the color of one pixel, and display the resulting image to the screen, in C++. Which (open-source) libraries would you recommend to accomplish the above with the least amount of code? Alternatively, which libraries would do the above in the most elegant way possible? A bit of background: I have been reading a lot of computer graphics literature recently, and there are lots of relatively easy, pixel-based algorithms which I'd like to implement. However, while the algorithm itself would usually be straightforward to implement, the necessary amount of frame-work to manipulate an image on a per-pixel basis and display the result stopped me from doing it.

  hihi, I have this html text response from a particular website: <tr><td valign="top"><img src="/icons/image2.gif" alt="[IMG]"></td><td><a href="crsdsdfs2221.jpg">crash-2221.jpg</a></td><td align="right">14-Jun-2010 14:29 Notice for every line, there is this href=".__", which is an image file with random name and random format. I would like to extract that string within the inverted commas out so that i can append it into a URL path and download the image. I've been looking through this documentation from apple: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/cocoa/conceptual/strings/Articles/SearchingStrings.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/20000149-CJBBGBAI on String programming but couldn't find one that fits my bill. Also after reading it, what code can I use to ensure that I will be reading the next line the next time my function is called( because I want to download the next picture). Hope some kind soul can help me out, thanks!

• Google checkout - Order processing notification handler

  Hi I need to integrate google checkout on my website. I have successfully implemented the order placing and others stuff and using the sandbox I have tested that users can successfully add items to cart and and pay thereafter. I am using my own customized shopping cart written in php mysql. The last thing I need to do is pass the new order id to google checkout and receive notifications with the new order id as well as other data google sends. I know I have to setup a path to the handler script in my accounts. I did it in my sandbox account as well. But can't find a simple pice of code to get it done. Even if I use sample code from google, just cant figure out the format of the returned data in new order notification and also how to send custom data to the cart, which would come back with new order notifications? I am just lost on this. Please help!
