• Using Web Flow 2 in JSF application

  Hi, I created a JSF cart application which runs just fine. I am using 'redirect' to fix the problem with refresh. The problem is when there is multiple page flow logic like if you haven't signed up you need to sign up or create an account, and once you do that you need to be redirected back to where you were when you were asked to sign up in the first place. So my goal is to use Web Flow 2 in order to make navigation rules easier to code. I have been working on them separately but I don't know how to merge so that Web Flow can handle navigation instead. Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

• [R] multiple functions in one R script

  Hi, I guess it's a stupid question, but I don't get it :-( I wrote an R script, which creates heatmaps out of xls files. I am calling this R script with a Perl system call and pass over all the arguments. This all works fine. Now I wanted to make the R script less confusing by writing different functions in the R script, for example: args <- commandArgs(TRUE) parsexls <- function(filepath) { data <- read.xls(...) assign("data", data, globalenv()) } reorder <- function(var) { data <- data[order...] assign("data", data, globalenv()) } When I want to call the functions with parsexls(args[1]) reorder(args[2]) nothing happens. But when I place the parsexls(args[1]) in the script between the two functions shown above, the file is parsed correctly! The reorder(args[2]) seems never to be read. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? • Annotation based view mapping

  I am trying to get my head around annotation based mappings and I am having some trouble mapping requests directly to jsp. Do all request have to go through a controller? Is it possible to make it just go to a jsp without declaring a RequestMapping for GET? I am using a InternalResourceViewResolver. • Loop colours from variables for graphics.py [Python 3.2]

  I am creating a graphics program that draws 100 x 100 squares next to each other depending on the user-specified grid size. The user also inputs 4 colours for the squares to be coloured (e.g. if they enter red,green,blue,yellow the squares will be coloured in that order, repeating the colours). Is it possible to loop the colours from the variables the user has given? • Java - Could not find the main class?

  I'm having a hard-time with a Java error. I'm getting this when double-clicking on my compiled project Jar file in order to run it: Could not find the main class: testPackage.testFrame. Program will exit. However, my main class is cleary defined in the project properties. Furthermore, everything works fine when I run the project directly from NetBeans. I'm using the ip2c.jar third-party library to determine countries from IP addresses. If I comment the class that is using the ip2c.jar file, I don't get the error. How can a third-party library be preventing the JVM from finding my main class?

• Connecting std::basic_ofstream<unsigned char> to a FIFO. bad_cast exceptions

  Using gcc 4.4.3 on Linux 2.6.32, I get bad_cast exceptions when connecting std::basic_ofstream to a FIFO. Stepping though the debugger, I can see that the error is generated at various places in the standard library because the _M_codecvt member of the stream or filebuf object is NULL. Exactly where it happens depends on the order of operations, but it appears to be the same cause in each. So am I doing something fundamentally stupid here? ofstream and ifstream work fine. Is there some reason that you shouldn't attach a stream of anything besides char to a FIFO? Thanks in advance.

• Using Gradle with an existing Android project

  I have an existing Android project with the following structure: - ProjectName -- AndroidManifest.xml -- local.properties -- project.properties -- assets -- libs (containing all jars) -- modules (containing all library projects my project depends on) -- res -- src ---- com/namespace/projectname (all my classes including main activity are here) I haven't been using any specific build system to build my project other than the one provided by default with the Android Studio IDE (though the project was originally created with IntelliJ CE. I would like to use Gradle with the android plugin and do some work on my build process. I have tried several configurations in order to achieve this and have failed to complete a successful build every time. What's the recommended approach in this scenario? should I change my project structure? or is it possible to configure gradle using the existing structure? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking specifically for an 'elegant' solution. I know that I could just brute force my way through all the possibilities, but I'm trying to avoid that. • How do you use Exslt.dyn (especially the 'evaluate' method) in Umbraco?

  I am trying to execute the string contained in an XSL variable. Umbraco has hooks for several Exslt pieces, but it seems the Exslt.dyn (Exslt.dynamic) is not one of them. How do you add it in? Acceptable methods (in order of preference: Writing your own XSLT extension (possibly using existing Umbraco code for Exslt Dynamic). Uploading the XSL from http://www.exslt.org/dyn/functions/evaluate/index.html into Umbraco. Modifying the Umbraco source to add it (possibly using existing Umbraco code for Exslt Dynamic). The reason I mention Exslt Dyanmic is because some Umbraco XSLT sources show a reference that I am assuming existing in some versions of Umbraco. I cannot find it in the source code, however.   What is the fastest way of converting a quadrilateral (made up of foyr x,y points) to a triangle strip? I'm well aware of the general triangulation algorithms that exist, but I need a short, well optimized algorithm that deals with quadrilaterals only. • Iterate over a dict or list in Python

  Just wrote some nasty code that iterates over a dict or a list in Python. I have a feeling this was not the best way to go about it. The problem is that in order to iterate over a dict, this is the convention: for key in dict_object: dict_object[key] = 1 But modifying the object properties by key does not work if the same thing is done on a list: # Throws an error because the value of key is the property value, not # the list index: for key in list_object: list_object[key] = 1 The way I solved this problem was to write this nasty code: if isinstance(obj, dict): for key in obj: do_loop_contents(obj, key) elif isinstance(obj, list): for i in xrange(0, len(obj)): do_loop_contents(obj, i) def do_loop_contents(obj, key): obj[key] = 1 Is there a better way to do this?   Hi everyone , I'm racking my brain in order to solve a knotty problem (at least for me) While playing an audio file (using java) I want the signal amplitude to be displayed against time. I mean I'd like to implement a small panel showing a sort of oscilloscope .(SPECTRUM ANALYZER) The audio signal should be viewed in the time domain (vertical axis is amplitude and the horizontal axis is time) Does anyone know how to do it? • Problems with overlapping ChildWindows in Silverlight

  Hello, I have a Silverlight application. At some point the app shows a ChildWindow with two datagrids and three buttons on it. One of the buttons is 'Reset To Defaults'. After it's pressed, the app shows another ChildWindow on top of the current one in order to ask confirmation. After the second ChildWindow is closed the first one starts to act funny. It's still changing highlighting of the elements on mouse events (mouseover on a grid element, click on a button). But clicking on the buttons doesn't fire my custom event handlers anymore. The only thing which is working on the ChildWindow is a small cross button created by the framework itself in the upper-right corner of the ChildWindow. I'd be grateful for any ideas on the cause of the problem or how to resolve it. Thanks.

• HTML: How to get a child element to show behind (lower z-index) than its parent

  I need for a certain dynamic element to always appear on top of another element, no matter what order in the DOM tree they are. Is this possible? I've tried z-index (with position: relative), and it doesn't seem to work. I hate to be vague, but this is the simplest way I can think of asking this question without explaining its purpose ad nauseum. So, to recap, I need <div class="a"> <div class="b"></div> </div> <div class="b"> <div class="a"></div> </div> To display exactly the same when rendered. And for flexibility purposes (I'm planning on distributing a plugin that needs this functionality), I'd really like to not have to resort to absolute or fixed positioning.

I'm working on an e-commerce site (either bespoke with PHP, or using Drupal/Ubercart), and I'd like to investigate the site interacting with an internal (filemaker) database we use to manage stock and orders. Currently we manually transfer orders from the web site to our own database, and the site does not check or record changes in stock. My plan to allow the 2 to interact is as follows: Make the internal database available externaly on a machine with a fixed IP Allow external access from the site only Connect to the internal database using ODBC (or similar) Use simple queries to check stock / record stock changes / record order details Am I missing something here as this sounds quite straight forward?   A lot of companies use CMS software that updates on the regular, often they are security fixes, implying that the previous version have security vulnerabilities. But most clients never upgrade this, or even the CMS has been modified so that an update would break the site. Are there sites that document these exploits, and instruct how to test for them? Or does this information not even get published? (in order not to have people try to exploit them) Also is there a generic php/js based check list to prevent hack attempts? I know about SQL injections and XSS, but I'm sure that there are more threats out there. Peace

  I'm currently using a datagrid within a user control. The datagrid resizes based on the number of rows, and therefore goes off the webpage. I've tried wrapping the control around a ScrollViewer, but in order to have the scroll bar visible and working, I need to set the MaxHeight of the datagrid. The problem is that I don't know what the MaxHeight of the datagrid should be because it differs based on the size of the browser window appearing on the screen. Any suggestions on how to determine the correct size of the control?

  I know how to recursively list directory contents. I will be using Snow Leopard's enumeratorAtURL:includingPropertiesForKeys:options:errorHandler: method to do this. However I want to store my findings into a object hierarchy (of, say, objects of a custom FileOrDirectory class that has isLeaf, children, and count attributes). I need to pre-load the directory and file structure into such a object hierarchy, in order to do whatever I want with NSTreeController and whatnot. I guess the trickiest thing here is to get the children attribute correct in the object hierarchy. Any ideas?

The comments are stored in a different table from the stories. The code above does not return any values and doesn't show any errors. Could someone please help?
