  • What programming language is the most English-like?

    I'm mainly a Python programmer, and it is often described as being "executable pseudo-code". I have used a little bit of AppleScript, which seems to be the most English-like programming language I have ever seen, because almost operators can be words, and it lets you use "the" anywhere (for example, this stupid example I just came up with: firstnumber = 1 secondnumber = 2 if the firstnumber is equal to the secondnumber then set the sum to 5 end if is a valid AppleScript program. Are there any programming languages that are even more English-like than these?

  • Matplotlib: plotting discrete values

    I am trying to plot the following ! from numpy import * from pylab import * import random for x in range(1,500): y = random.randint(1,25000) print(x,y) plot(x,y) show() However, I keep getting a blank graph (?). Just to make sure that the program logic is correct I added the code print(x,y), just the confirm that (x,y) pairs are being generated. (x,y) pairs are being generated, but there is no plot, I keep getting a blank graph. Any help ?

    Is there a script i can use to copy some particular sectors of my Harddisk? I actually have two partitions say A and B, on my Harddisk. Both are of same sizes. What i want is to run a program which starts copying data from the starting sector of A to the starting sector of B until the end sector of A is copied to the end sector of B.     I have a C program which has a function call that is defined in windows.h (which I have included), however, when I try and compile it with gcc, I get the error: warning: implicit declaration of function `LockWorkStation' I looked at the MSDN documentation and I see that this function is the User32 library file, and I was wondering how I would go about linking that to my file.

  • Where do you keep your code?

    Your code is of course checked into a repository somewhere, but where do you keep your working copy/copies? C:\Program Files isn't right, as it's for installed packages. My Documents somehow doesn't seem right, either—a My Code folder next to My Music and My Pictures? Dumping in C:\ is messy, but seems to be "working" for other people in my office.

  • Getting file updates in folders with no permission.

    I've been working on a program to monitor a network folder to find out which spreadsheets our company uses are the most popular. I'm using the FileSystemWatcher class in C# to do the monitoring. I've noticed I'm getting updates to files that are in folders that my user does not have permission to browse. I understand that my software is subscribing to a list of updates done by other system software and not actually browsing those files itself, but is this functionality intentional or is it a bug?

  • How can I get the source code for ASTassistant?

    I'm trying to develop an application similar to ASTassistant, and in the article the author says that he included "the source code with the binaries." After downloading the ZIP folder, however, I've found no source. The program is written in REAL Basic, which I don't know anything about. Do I need to purchase REAL Basic to view ASTassistant's source code, or is it somewhere I haven't looked? Thanks
