  • JS encodeURIComponent result different from the one created by FORM

    I thought values entered in forms are properly encoded by browsers.   • jquery .hide() bug in safari

    ive been having issues with this hide bug thats only affecting safari. This is a simple vertical scroller that hides the first element in the list then shows the last. and works in everything apart from safari. the problem seems to be that the divs im working with here share the same class but have unique ids like #mycollectioncomment1, #mycollectioncomment2, #mycollectioncomment3 etc... however hiding just one of these divs hides all the other divs that share the same class.   • Chrome extensions: Content script (jQuery) in Youtube does not work properly

    I have this: $(document).ready(function() { $("button.yt-uix-expander-arrow").attr("id", "yt-uix-expander-arrow"); $("#yt-uix-expander-arrow").mouseover(function() { alert("Hello"); }); }); injected into Youtube. Using right click inspect element, the <button class="yt-uix-expander-arrow"> has a id="yt-uix-expander-arrow" attribute successfully added to it. However the mouseover event does not trigger. However if I were to change $("#yt-uix-expander-arrow").mouseover() to $(".yt-uix-expander-arrow").mouseover() it works. That's very unusual, because the #yt-uix-expander-arrow id has already been added to the button element. I tested it out on Facebook, adding a id to a class and doing a mouseover() event on the ID and it works. Any idea?

  • OnPage Load display one sentence - hide others

    Hi I have created http://techavid.com/design/test3.html and when you load the page you see there are 3 images. The sun image is focused(in color), while the others are greyed out until clicked. That is how it should be for the images. Under each image you see a sentence 1st: Sun, 2nd: Airplane & 3rd: Nano, but when page loads you see all three sentences. How to make it so when page loads the first sentence underneath the active image (sun) shows only and the others do not show, they only show when clicked (though that works just need to figure out onpage load only show "1st: Sun")? thanks :) paul J.

    Hi, I have three windows: 1st - main window 2nd - child window - it's opened using window.showModalDialog from 1st widnow. 3rd - window - is an ancestor of 1st window and is's opened from 2nd window using window.showModalDialog. And now what I need to achieve is to open 1, 2 and 3 window. Next after closing the 3rd one, refresh the 2nd one. And after closing the 2nd one, refresh the 1st one. But there is one more assumption, I don't want to have any post-back during this process. Dose anybody have any idea how to make it?

  • Form submits correctly in Chrome/FF, but fails altogether in IE/Safari

    I have a form with a css submit button. When a the submit button is clicked, i call a function that executes: document.forms["request"].onsubmit(); What should happen, then, is that the onsubmit method ought to be triggered. This works properly in Chrome/FF, but for some reason IE/Safari will bypass the onsubmit function and simply add the parameter "address=" onto the url as if it were submitting the form and ignoring the onsubmit function.     I would like to know how and if I can add standard HTML elements (div, button) to a specific set of coordinates on the map ? For example I have a set of coordinates and I would like to attach a custom balloon notification to them and when I pan away from the coordinates the element should disappear and when I pan back to them, the element should reappear.     Hey, I've created a site with CSS that requires the :focus pseudo class. I change the 'filter' and 'background-image' effects when a textbox is selected (i.e. has focus). This works in Chrome/FF, but doesn't seem to work in IE8 (and, presumable, previous versions if IE). I tried to look for answers, and have tried to use :active - but that doesn't work. Is there a way of changing attributes such as 'filter' using psuedo-classes? Failing that, can I do it in JS with the OnClick event? Thanks

  • setInterval alternative

    Hi folks, In my app I am polling the webserver for messages every second and displaying them in the frontend. I use setInterval to achieve this. However as long as the user stays on that page the client keeps polling the server with requests even if there is no data. The server does give an indication when no more messages are being generated by setting a variable. I thought of using this variable to clearInterval and stop the timer but that didn't work. What else can I use in this situation? I am using jquery and django. Here is my code: jquery: var refresh = setInterval( function () { var toLoad = '/myMonitor'+' #content'; $('#content').load(toLoad).show(); }, 1000); // refresh every 1000 milliseconds }); html: div id=content is here I can access the django variable for completion in html with each refresh.     Hello, I have been doing more client-side development, managing the UI on the client and submitting data to the server via web service calls. I'm not looking for implementation details, but was curious on developer preferences for displaying an operation in process and what to display when completed or even failed. As a for instance, just for clarification sake, what if you are submitting a profile form's data to a web service. I want to display that something's happening to the user, and give them a message that the form submitted successfully. I've in the past used a twitter-style message (that appears at the top), modal dialogs... I was curious what worked for others and any advice (what did the users like/not like, etc.).     I'm using jQuery in my site and I would like to trigger certain actions when a certain div is made visible. Is it possible to attach some sort of "isvisible" event handler to arbitrary divs and have certain code run when they the div is made visible? I would like something like the following pseudocode: $(function() { $('#contentDiv').isvisible(function() { alert("do something"); }); }); The alert("do something") code should not fire until the contentDiv is actually made visible.   • Video not playing in IE in hidden div using JW Player, SWFObject and FancyZoom

    Hi all, I have a video that is meant to start playing when a user clicks on an image and said image opens a FancyZoom overlay. It works fine in every browser except IEs. If I place the video in a div that is not hidden (display:none actually), the video starts as expected. So it seems there is a problem with either Flash, JW Player, SWFObject or any combination of these when trying to load a video in a hidden div. Anyone know any workarounds? I tried modifying the FancyZoom library (see my fork: http://github.com/lgomez/fancy-zoom/blob/master/prototype/js/fancyzoom.js) so I could use a callback to inject the video AFTER the zoom effect was completed but that did'n work. Thanks!

  • How to disable listbox's click event

    I have a listbox which acts as a list of items. If you click on some item, it's contents are shown in the panel on the right (few textboxes etc.). I need to have a validation on these controls as all of them are required fields. And I do have it. The problem is that, even when the validators are not valid, user can click the listbox and change active index (that doesn't have impact on the panel on the right, as SelectedIndexChanged isn't fired). The validators are standard RequiredFieldValidator with their Display property set to "Dynamic". So, what I want is to disallow the user clicking on the listbox and changing the index untill all validators are Valid. What would be your solution for that? Is that even possible?
