• Using PUT/POST/DELETE with JSONP and jQuery

  I am working on creating a RESTful API that supports cross-domain requests, JSON/JSONP support, and the main HTTP method (PUT/GET/POST/DELETE). Now while will be easy to accessing this API through server side code , it would nice to exposed it to javascript. From what I can tell, when doing a JSONP requests with jQuery, it only supports the GET method. Is there a way to do a JSONP request using POST/PUT/DELETE? Ideally I would like a way to do this from within jQuery (through a plugin if the core does not support this), but I will take a plain javascript solution too. Any links to working code or how to code it would be helpful, thanks.

• iOS: How to access the `UIKeyboard`?

  I want to get a pointer reference to UIKeyboard *keyboard to the keyboard on screen so that I can add a transparent subview to it, covering it completely, to achieve the effect of disabling the UIKeyboard without hiding it. In doing this, can I assume that there's only one UIKeyboard on the screen at a time? I.e., is it a singleton? Where's the method [UIKeyboard sharedInstance]. Brownie points if you implement that method via a category. Or, even more brownie points if you convince me why it's a bad idea to assume only one keyboard and give me a better solution.

• JQuery delegate what may cause it to not function

  I have a webpage using jquery 1.42 The following 2 segments of code live in my page. $('body').delegate('h2', 'click', function() { $(this).after("<p>delegate paragraph!<\/p>"); }); $('body h2').live('click', function() { $(this).after("<p>live paragraph!<\/p>"); }); The live method always works, yet the delegate doesn't fire at all. If I create a trivial page with simple html <body><h2>blah</h2></body> both approaches work. So I'm assuming there is something else going on in my page. With firebug I am seeing no javascript errors, no html errors. and breakpoints on the delegate method definately do not get hit. What else might be the cause of delegate not triggering?

Is there a utility method to do this? e.g. for 1,2,3,4,5 post randomization it might be either [1,5,4,2,3 or 2,1,3,5,4 or 3,1,2,4,5 or ...] I would like to know if there is a java utility method / class which already provides this capability?

• Getting user data from Active Directory using PL/SQL

  I had a discussion today regarding an Oracle procedure I wrote some time ago. I wanted to get 7500 user email addresses from Active Directory using PL/SQL. AD will return a maximum of 1000 rows and the LDAP provider used by Oracle will not support paging. Therefore, my solution was to filter on the last two characters of the sAMAccountName (*00,*01,*02...etc.). This results in 126 queries (100 for account names ending in digits, 26 for those ending in a letter...this was sufficient for my AD setup). The person I was speaking to (it was a job interview by the way) said he could have done it a better way, but he would not tell me what that method was. Could anybody hazard a guess at what this method was?

• UIViewController is popped from view stack and NSURLConnection crashes the application

  I am pushing a UIViewController onto a UINavigationController. This view controller immediately starts a download of an xml feed and then parses it. However, if you hit the back button before it is done downloading, and crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS. The line that is crashing it is in parserDidEndDocument and is this line: if (self.delegate && [self.delegate conformsToProtocol:@protocol(ModelDelegate)]) [self.delegate modelDidFinishParsing:self]; I assume it is crashing because it is trying to access self.delegate which is not assigned anymore. How do I get around this? Also, I would release the model object in the modelDidFinishParsing method. How would I release this model if it never reaches this method.

  If I have many input controls in a form (There are separate validators for each of these input controls - like required,length and so on ) , there is a command button which submits the form and calls an action method. The requirement is - though the input control values are , say , individually okay - the combination of these values should be okay to process them together after the form submission - Where do i place the code to validate them together? 1) Can i add a custom validator for the command button and validate the combination together? like validate(FacesContext arg0, UIComponent arg1, Object value) but even then I will not have values of the other input controls except for the command button's/component's value right ? 2) can i do the validation of the combination in the action method and add validation messages using FacesMessage ? or do you suggest any other approach?   I get the following error when trying to sign up for the Microsoft Azure 90-day free trial: We can't authorize the payment method. Please make sure the information is correct, or use another payment method. If you continue to get this message, please contact your financial institution. I've tried three different cards, two credit and one debit. Those cards are issued from two different banks. I've also tried the cards on two separate accounts. Someone from my work also confirmed that he could not sign up for the free trial either. Has anyone else had this problem? I haven't really seen much help searching Google and the support staff doesn't seem interested in helping people sign up for free accounts.

  Hi, Experts: Can you please give some suggestions on sqlite using on the iPhone? Within my application, I use a sqlite DB to store all local data. Two methods can be used to retrieve those data during running time. 1, Load all the data into memory at initialization stage. (More memory used, less DB open/close operation needed) 2, Read corresponding records when necessary, free the occupied memory after using. (Good habit for memory using, but much DB open/close operations needs). I prefer to use method 2, but not sure whether too many DB opening/closing operations could affect app's efficiency. Or do you think I can 'upgrade' method 2 by opening DB when app launches and closing DB when app quits? Thanks for your suggestions very much!

  Hi experts, I use the code provided by Fedor in the following link, in order to get the latitude and longitude from my simple demo app. I am trying to fetch the latitude and longitude using the MyLocation class provided by him in that link. What is the simplest and most robust way to get the user's current location in Android? I try to fetch the latitude and longitude on a button click. On the button click, I start an async task and delegate the location fetching work to the do in background method of my asynctask. pre execute - progressdialog initiated. post execute - progress dialog dismissed. This is how, the progress dialog in my code should work and here is the issue which I have. THe progress dialog gets initiated correctly, but even before the latitude and longitude gets printed in the doinbackground method, the progress dialog gets dismissed. I do not understand why this happens. • Is there a more efficient way to retrieve tables from websites using wpf + webclient

  new to the community, but here is my first question that I am stuck on. I am new to WPF and WebClient using c# and I am attempting to make a program that access www.nba.com to populate a combobox I have with team names, and then when a user selects a team from the combobox, I wanted to populate a portion of the main window with the roster from the teams home site, same style and eveything. I was able to populate the combobox using the WebClient.OpenRead and reading in the markup to extract the team names. Now I am on the more difficult part. I was planning on using the same method to grab all the markup and then somehow display the table in a content panel, but I feel that this is a very tedious thing to do. Can anyone give me any tips for completing this action or is there a method in the webclient class that allows me to search a webpage for a table or object other than text? Thanks.

It's worth noting also that ports 1099 and 7099 are forwarded to the server machine (which should be obvious from the stack trace). Can anyone see anyting I'm missing/doing wrong? If you need any more information just ask. EDIT: I'm practically certain the problem has nothing to do with my router settings. When disabling my port forwarding settings I get a slightly different error: Client exception: java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: (-WAN IP NOT LOCAL IP-); but it appears both on the machine locally connected to the server and on the remote machine. In addition, I got it to work seamlessly when connecting the server straight tho the modem (cutting out the router. I can only conclude the problem is in my router's settings but can't see where (I've checked and double checked the port forwarding page). That's the only answer i can come up with.

  I've got a custom TObjectList descendant in Delphi 2009, and I'd like to play with its enumerator a bit and add some filtering functionality to the MoveNext method, to cause it to skip certain objects. MoveNext is called by DoMoveNext, which is a virtual method, so this shouldn't be difficult to override... except for one thing. The TEnumerator for TObjectList isn't its own class; it's declared as a nested type within the TObjectList declaration. Is there any simple way to override TEnumerator.DoMoveNext in my descendant class, or do I have to reimplement the whole TEnumerator? It's not a very big class, but I'd prefer to keep redundancies to a minimum if I can...

• Returning messages in Smalltalk

  I have a Dictionary of objects I have created in smalltalk, which I am iterating over by enumerating it based on the key/value pairs. For value object in the dictionary, I am calling a method on that object. Based on certain conditions, I would like for this object to be able to add a new member to dictionary, and possibly delete another one. I've been looking at the 'Perform' and 'Messages' facilities in Smalltalk, but I'm not sure if it is even possible to do what I'm trying to do - is it possible to return a message (or multiple messages), which another object can process and perform? For example, could my method return 'removeKey: 19' and 'add object' at the same time? I am using GNU Smalltalk, if it matters.

• How to Check .Net 2.0 assembly for Calls to .Net 3.5

  I've found an issue I believe where an assembly is making a call to a .Net3.5 method in a .Net2.0 only environment. (None on the .Net service packs nor .Net 3.5 is installed) I'd like to know if there are any programs that I can run like FXCop to check an assembly for adherence to only making method calls that are available in .Net 2.0 without the 3.5 extensions that were added. I've been bitten by this before and I'd like to have a way to check assemblies so that before they are released they can be checked to prevent these kinds of issues. Please don't say require .Net 3.5 because whilst I'd like to go to this, it's just not possible at this point.

  I want to embed a partial view in an ASP.NET MVC page by returning it from an action method. In my base view, I would have: <%= Html.Action("MyPartialViewAction") %> My controller would have an action method like: [ChildActionOnly] public ActionResult MyPartialViewAction() { return PartialView("MyPartialView"); } I expected the returned partial view (MyPartialView) to have access to the ViewData that was set in the base page's controller action but that doesn't appear to be the case. • Having trouble understanding some code (Ruby on Rails)

  I posted a question awhile ago asking how I could limit the rate at which a form could be submitted from a rails application. I was helped by a very patient user and their solution works great. The code was for my comments controller, and now I find myself wanting to add this functionality to another controller, my Messages controller. I immediately tried reusing the working code from the comments controller but I couldn't get it to work. I'll explain how much of the code I understand. When a comment is created, a cookie is created with a last_post_time value. If they try to post another comment, the cookie is checked if the last one was made in the last two minutes. If it was a flash warning is displayed and no comment is recorded. What I don't really understand is how the post_check method works and how I can adapt it for my simpler posts controller. I thought I could reuse all the code in the message controller with the exception of the line: @message = Message.find(params[:message_id]) # (don't need the redirect code) in the post_check method. But it trips up on the "record_post_time" in the create action/method. I really want to understand this. Can someone explain why this doesn't work? I greatly appreciate you reading my lengthy question.
