• Are there efforts to build a collaboratively edited HTML/JS/DOM reference?

  W3Schools has a reputation of being incomplete, sometimes incorrect, and ridden with advertising; still, when looking to look up some things or link to documentation when answering a SO question, it still is the only handy cross-browser resource. There are other resources like the Mozilla Developer Network that is doing an increasingly great job documenting JavaScript, and the legendary and great Quirksmode. But they, as brilliant as they are, cover only parts of the areas I am talking about, and provide no community editing and quality control options. Is anybody aware of efforts to create a collaboratively edited, cross-browser HTML/CSS/JavaScript/DOM encyclopedia? If you will, I'm thinking of a challenger to W3Schools like SO was to Experts Exchange. (I thought this more suitable on Programmers than on SO proper - please correct me if I'm wrong.)

• Problems connecting to eduroam wifi - ubuntu touch

  I am trying to connect to our university's eduroam wi-fi network with my Nexus 4 running Ubuntu touch (utopic latest build), but can't get past the first stage. I wonder if anyone can help please? I am following these instructions (which worked for my iPhone): http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/itsupport/mobile/eduroam/ But when I go to the bandit.st-andrews.ac.uk/connect page then follow the link to 'eduroam setup' I get the error message: Authorization Required This server could not verify that you are authorised to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required. Apache/2.2.16 (Debian) Server at bandit.st-andrews.ac.uk Port 443 (Clearly it's the latter option (browser) as I haven't been asked for my credentials yet.) Is there a way round this, or am I just not going to be able to connect until further down the Ubuntu touch development road... Thanks!

  I am registering as a Developer to sell paid applications on the Google Play store and have run into a slight issue: After I paid, I clicked on "Setup merchant details" link. I filled out the business address section, but in the "Public contact" section, Google says this: How can your customers get in touch with you? This information will be made available to your customers when they make a purchase. I work from home. I do not want customers knowing my home address, nor do I want it displayed anywhere online or even accessible by anyone. Should I just enter NA in each of the following fields? Surely Google understands that we have a right to keep such things private? How can I get around this while not getting my account suspended or risk not being approved?

• How can I easily create cloud texture maps?

  I am making 3d planets in my game; these will be viewed as "globes". Some of them will need cloud layers. I looked at various Blender tutorials for creating "earth", and for their cloud layers they use earth cloud maps from NASA. However I will be creating a fictional universe with many procedurally-generated planets. So I would like to use many variations. I'm hoping there's a way to procedurally generate cloud maps such as the NASA link. I will also need to create gas giants, so I will also need other kinds of cloud texture maps. If that is too difficult, I could fall back to creating several variations of cloud maps. For example, 3 for earth-like, 3 for gas giants, etc. So how do I statically create or programmatically generate such cloud maps?

• How can I install the latest version of libmtp?

  In the latest version of the libmtp library there are fixes for my Android device so I would like to install the latest version I'm just not sure how! I would assume that this would pushed into the official repositories at some point, so the smart advice would probably be just to wait, but I would like to know how to do this myself if anyone could tell me. • Can you shade a specific section of a sprite? If so, how?

  I have been working on an isometric minecraft-esque game engine for a strategy game I plan on making. As you can see, it really needs some sort of shading. It is difficult to distinguish between separate elevations when the camera is facing away from the slope because everything is the same shade. So my question is: can I shade just a specific section of a sprite? All of those blocks are just sprites, so if I shaded the entire image, it would shade the whole block. I am using LWJGL.   I cannot help but think that this is currently wrong.  There are two editions of StreamInsight (SI), Premium and Standard.  A link to their differences is here Points to note Developer Edition and Evaluation Edition represent Enterprise Edition in SQL Server but not SI where they represent Datacentre Edition.  Won’t this be confusing when people evaluating SI find that it is not the same animal when they move to Enterprise Edition? If SI Premium is the only thing you want out of the SQL Server box then it is going to be a high cost. The latency rates as well quoted on the site above make Premium Edition essential if you are going to be using this to do Real-Time analytics.

• YouTube: How to Style an AngularJS App on the Device

  I installed the Droid@Screen plugin into NetBeans IDE 8 so that you can see the Android device that I held in my hand while doing the demo below. The demo shows the usage of the Terminal window to create an Ionic Framework application (from "tabs", which is one of the cool templates that the framework provides), i.e., that means I can use AngularJS to create a Cordova application out of the box, with many mobile-oriented components available out of the box. Then I deploy the app to the Chrome browser on Android, which means I can interact with it in NetBeans, e.g., for CSS styling and JavaScript debugging. In this demo, I show how the background color of the deployed app can be changed live from NetBeans. After that, once I'm happy with the styling, I deploy the app again, but this time as a Cordova app, i.e., a hybrid HTML5 application, which means the app is packaged as a native app and deployed directly to the device from NetBeans. • Bootstrap 3.0.0: How to use data-slide-to outside of indicators?

  I am attempting to make a small gallery like the one shown below - I'm sure you've all seen them considering they are fairly common. When trying to make one using bootstrap I ran into a major problem. I can't seem to link the smaller bottom images to the larger top one that was when one of the smaller ones is clicked it changes to the selected image. I am attempting to use data-slide-to however it does not seem to work outside of the "carousel-indicators". I can't put it into the carousel indicators list because that moves the images up into the gallery (It may be possible to fix this with CSS but my attempts have been worthless). Does anyone know the problem? I've tried tags around each image that didn't seem to work then I tried divs. Still nothing. Things to note: I am using 3.0.0 All images are generated (if you haven't guessed already) Smaller images are separate from larger one (not auto scaled down)

• Google Webmasters tools crawl error caused by URL split into two lines

  I am looking in to Google Webmaster Tools - Crawl Error section. How should I handle for those URL due their system / application showed invalid URL. e.g http://www.example/images/products/s_=enlarge_16gb.jpg but, I dunno what happen to yahoo groups, it break the link into http://www.example/images/products/s_= enlarge_16gb.jpg and I only make the top part become hyperlink, which is http://www.example/images/products/s_= Because of the URL, Google show crawl error, I got few error because of this kind of result or because other people typo error. How do I prevent this. I am sure I don't have the right go and change other people post. What is the solution for this. Thanks!

• GNU Octave - question about graphs and plotting

  I've had task to do - to make an graphical interpretation of adding two functions together: sin(8x) and multiplied -sign(x) in Octave, as shown on image above. And I've done that, but I don't know how to get rid of these lines, which link up gaps between separated values (for example, -1 and 1). I don't want them to be seen especially in third graph. • Canonical links for huge websites

  Let's say I have 5 products that are identical but the product code, the product color specifications and the product image. The title, meta and description are identical (by the way the color is in a select form). I made 4 products link canonical to the 1 that is the master based on many factors. If the master becomes inactive or without a stock one product from the other 4 will become the new master and the rest will become canonical to it. The question is if that by becomeing master from canonical will the site suffer a penalty from Google or it will work just fine? What will Google think about this strategy?

• Google search does not show sub-pages from my website

  My website appears in Google search, but only the first page. Of course I have sub-pages linked from the first page, but the sub-pages do not show in Google search. Not in Yahoo, not in Bing. What should I do? It has been three years that sub-pages do not show. (I tried searching site:mydomain.com and pressed 'repeat the search with the omitted results included' link) What would you suspect the reason? My website addresses were like xxx.php?yy=zzz etc, etc, so I changed it to /yy/zzz using mod_rewrite. I thought it might be (X)HTML standard violations, so now I changed it. I hope Google will soon have my entire website, but I am a little bit pessimistic. Do you have any thought?

New research from Purdue University and Microsoft highlight just how much ad-driven apps tank your battery life. What did they find? That poorly designed ad-modules in free ad-driven applications are terrible at conserving energy. In popular applications like Angry Birds and Free Chess 70% of the energy the application consumed was used to drive the ads. They also surveyed other applications and found that ad-driven apps weren’t alone in excessive battery use–the New York Times app, for example, spent 15% of its battery consumption on tracking and background tasks.
