• Limit download usage for clients

  i am maintaining few windows xp machines under rhel 5 . i want to set quota for download file size. How to do it ? I mean, in lan usar A's maximum donload file size is 300 MB , and user B's maximum download file size in 200 MB. I want to block downloading when user try to download more than 300 MB file.User should not allow to download 300MB file at a time. Or how to set quota for maximum download per day, is there possible to do it ? How can i do this ?

• Why does a pdf file download result in varying bytes logged, all with sc-status 200

  I have a mojoportal CMS installation on an IIS7 server where users are reporting problems downloading a pdf file. It always downloads fine for me and most others, either displaying in browser or in Adobe Reader. Using logparser to query the IIS logs, all the responses are status 200 (OK) or 304 (Not modified), but the bytes sent vary quite a bit. Sometimes zero, some 211, some about half the full file size of 27059, and lots in between. Plenty show the full size of 27059. Do these other entries for smaller byte counts represent errors of some kind, correlating with the problems reported? Is this likely to be a browser/client issue or a server side problem? If there is any other info that would be helpful let me know. This is a shared hosting server though so I am somewhat limited in what I can dig into on the server.

• Reconnect feature in Jdownloader for BSNL broadband

  Hi, I recently downloaded JDownloader for downloading from RS. But clicking the Reconnect icon in toolbar gives the error, "Reconnect failed. Please try manual reconnect". :( In the reconnection settings, there is an entry for Router's IP. and the rest(User,pwd, Reconnection script) are blank. I having BSNL dataone broadband connection in Bangalore. I connect to internet just by turning on the modem and no user name and password is required. How can i allow Reconnection feature in JDownloader.? If a reconnection script is required how to write the script.? Badly in need of this. Thanks in advance.

• Super slow website - show me what's been downloaded so far.

  Every now and then a website becomes super-slow (but not broken) because there are too many people looking at it at the same time. When I try and view such a site, say with firefox, I can see that it is downloading all sorts of components of the site because of the progress information printed at the bottom of the window and I'm sitting there thinking "If only the browser would show me what it's got so far. I don't care if its a jumbled mess, I just want to see what you've got". Does any browser offer such an option?

• Ubuntu Karmic - Net connection unusually laggy

  Hi, I've just installed Ubuntu 9.10 and fired up Firefox, what I have noticed is that the Internet is slower than it is with the other machines that I have with identical connection. In particular, it takes it a long time for it to look up a server. Once downloading has begun, the speeds are normal, but it is very very laggy prior to starting the download: Firefox's status bar reports Looking up <server>... for up to 15 seconds, where it would usually just flicker for a fraction of a second. Any ideas on what could be causing this and suggested fixes? Thanks!

• Google search results are downloaded as a file in Google Chrome

  I'm behind a proxy at work, and Google Chrome insists on downloading Google search results pages instead of displaying them. Whether I try to search from the address bar, from google.com, or from a third-party site that has a Google search form, what ends up happening is that the search results page ends up as a downloaded file called "search" in my downloads directory. I haven't seen this happen with any other search pages. Yahoo! Search, for example, works fine. Has anyone run into this before and/or has any ideas on how to fix it or what might be causing it? I'd try the Chrome support pages, but they're blocked by the proxy...

• *Browsing* iTunes University

  I recently discovered iTunes U and have been downloading a number of lectures, but I'd like to find more stuff in areas I'm interested in and iTunes U seems to want none of it. When I select a category of content to choose from - let's say Science - Physics - the only choices for browsing I seem to have are "Featured" and "New and Notable." I've looked around online and discovered that even the "See All" for these sections only shows a subsection of the entire collection for that category. There doesn't seem to be a regular "Browse" option like you would expect to find in such an application. Or is there? Does anyone here know if there is such a feature and, if so, where I can find it?

• How to upgrade PHP to 5.3 on latest MAMP

  Hi all, I've been struggling with this for quit a while... Googling all sorts of things has brought up anything useful so far. I have MAMP 1.8.4 install on my MBP running snow leopard - i want to upgrade to PHP to 5.3 to fit to my new job's working environment.. however i can't seem to get it to work. I've tried downloading the 5.3 source and compiling it using's MAMP's ./configure statement but i always get an error regarding apxs and a possibly missing config_vars.mk file from that i understand. Has anyone been able to do this successfully? If so how? What were to happen if i were to drop the --with-apxs from the configure line? would it break the apache/php ? • raspberry pi for web programming/development

  I'm into web development and my machine (AMD Phenom II, 8G RAM) is running Ubuntu 13.04. I love my current setup but I kinda miss some of Windows software like MSOffice or Adobe suites, and running on Virtualbox doesn't feel as snappy for me.... So I'm thinking of buying a new cheap machine where I would install Linux and do my development work there and have my current machine run Windows. I just found this thing called Raspberry pi which is really cheap and requires 12v only (I think) which makes it good for downloading stuff overnight. So, does it make sense to buy Raspberry pi, make it my primary dev machine, Windows being the secondary (for Adobe and browser testing of course)? Basically, I want to know if Raspberry pi meets the following requirements: It should run ArchLinux Sublime Text 3 python ruby nginx nodejs Deluge or Transmission (well, maybe just those, no need for videos and music players)

• Asus EeePC X101CH Touchpad issue

  I have an Asus EeePC X101CH that the touchpad was uninstalled from (I saw the uninstall dialog boxes open). After a restart there was a PS/2 mouse under View Hidden Devices in Device Manager that wasn't installed properly (I'm assuming that this is the touchpad). Going to the Asus website and downloading the drivers (V15.3.27.1), I get the error message "Synaptics device not found!". I tried the other driver Version v9.1.7.7 for the Sentelic TouchPad as well (when run it appears to be the driver for the finger sensing) and got the error message "This driver version is inapplicable for the touch pad. Please check the devices on the system and install the suitable driver.". What's my next step? Thanks!

In My computer Lan card model is Realtek RTL8168B/8111B PCI-E GIGABIT ETHERNET NIC (NDIS 6.20) My system is dual boot windows 7 and redhat 5.1.Redhat is not picking up this model of Lan card automaticlly. I tried it by downloading from realtak site for this particular model and find some .tar packages for my kernal and when i tried to install them ... check old drivers & unload it build the module and install make */lib/modules/2.6.18-53.e15/build: no such file or directory stop make[1]: *[modules] error 2 make : [modules] error 2 i downloaded tar files from sites and unpack according to their instrution i tried to run autorun.sh script as mentioned in readme file but after doing this it is showing above error... Now what to do i am not getting

I want to do very basic image editing, like cut a portion of an image, add some text label to the image, circle some part of the image, etc. I am downloading acornfree from this Url, but when executing acornfree, it said the Mac OS I am using is not supported. • Unable to create system partition or locate existing system partition during Windows-7 installation

  I have Windows XP 32-bit installed on an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe with 2x 500gb drives in RAID1 using the NV RAID controller. On this there are 3 partitions (XP, XP backup and DATA) There are also 4x 500gb drives in RAID10 using the Silicon Image 3114R RAID controller. I just purchased a Windows 7 64-bit as an ISO download upgrade version which I promptly burned to DVD and attempted to perform an upgrade installation. Here is the error message I am getting: Firstly, where are these "Setup log files" located? Second, does this mean I need to find compatible (64-bit?) drivers for the Mainboard and put them on floppy? EDIT: As suggested on another forum, I tried downloading the nVidia Mainboard RAID drivers for Windows 2003 64-bit. I loaded the drivers successfully using the Load Driver button, but pressing NEXT still returns this error.

  Our WSUS server stopped working until the patch related to .NET 4.0 was installed, at which point clients started downloading and updating again. However, the WSUS mmc console occasionally disconnects when performing various tasks, such as running automatic approval rules; also wsusutil checkhealth creates the following events: 13042: Self-update is not working. 12002: The Reporting Web Service is not working. 12012: The API Remoting Web Service is not working. 12032: The Server Synchronization Web Service is not working. 12022: The Client Web Service is not working. 12042: The SimpleAuth Web Service is not working. 12052: The DSS Authentication Web Service is not working. Apparently there are many possible causes for these events. I'm looking for a way to figure out what is wrong, so that I can fix it.

  I installed Adobe's Download Manager Software when I was downloading a CS4 trial. It was called Akamai. I can not seem to get rid of this pesky thing. I have Little Snitch installed so I was annoyed that it showed that this app would phone home for updates every login. I felt this was an unnecessary process I wanted rid of. I've uninstalled it using App Cleaner. Now on login the Akamai app does not produce any Little Snitch prompts. "SoftwareUpdateCheck" does. SoftwareUpdateCheck wants to connect to a950.gi3.akamai.net on TCP 80. SoftwareUpdateCheck is /System/Library/CoreServices/SoftwareUpdate.app/Contents/Resources/SoftwareUpdateCheck. • SRSS Client Print Module must be downloaded every use

  I am currently having an issue with SQL Server Reporting Services. Everytime a user clicks the print button for the report, the user must install the ActiveX client print module. The issue is that our clients are not admins on their computers. So therefore they can not install the module. I have gotten around this roughly by adding the SQL address to trust sites, setting "Download signed Active Controls" to enable, and then giving the users permission to write to "C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files". However, this is fix is not easy to distrubute to our user base. I am using SQL Server 2008 SP3 CU3 running on Server 2008 R2. I believe the browser thinks the version is newer than what is on the server. I have tried downloading the print module CAB file from the SQL server and installing manually. That did not work either. • windvd aacs keys update dosn't work

  A relative has a viao htpc, which has blue ray. The player I believe is a viao branded version of windvd with blue ray support. Every time it loads it asks if it should update the aacs keys as they are out of date. If you select yes nothing happens. The package just sits there forever saying that you shouldn't turn it off. I have tried to go to the products website (which is now corel) registering and downloading the keys, but the key download page does nothing. Has anyone had a similar problem, or are there any suggestions to get around it?

  I live in an apartment with 3 other roommates, and we share the internet connection though a wireless router (Level One WBR-3406TX). One of the roommates is always running utorrent, and it is slowing down everybody's connection way too much. Unfortunately, he feels like he shouldn't have to give up on downloading stuff, and is refusing to stop hogging the bandwidth. I was wondering if there's something I can do to the router configuration that would disrupt his use of utorrent just enough to to make the internet usable for the rest of us, and still have it work well enough for him so that he doesn't start poking around looking for answers.

• HP CM2320 Printer crashes windows 2003 spooler in TS/Citrix

  Hello, I'm having a very annoying issue with an HP printer (CM2320): all of a sudden, any user who has that printer installed locally as default printer would crash any Windows 2003 terminal services or Citrix server (XenApp PS 4.5) as soon as he connect, causing the session to hang and other users to be unable to connect to the server. To restore functionality, an administrator has to connect to the server's console session and acknowledge the error message about spoolsv.exe having crashed with an AV. I tried downloading the latest drivers from HP (an adventure worthy of Lara Croft in itself) and install it on all servers but that didn't seem to have helped the situation: the spooler is still crashing. Anyone has a suggestion about what I could do about this ?

  Hello, Pardon the newbie question - I haven't worked with manually compiling Apache modules (or anything) before. I am trying to get the mod_concat module going. It seems simple enough - just requires downloading the mod_concat.c file and then running: axps -c mod_concat.c This is new to me. Does it matter which directory I put mod_concat.c before running this command? I ran it from my home directory, and I see some new files - mod_concat.la, mod_concat.lo, mod_concat.o, and mod_concat.slo - along with a new subfolder called .libs/ that contains mod_concat.so along with some other files. I'm not sure where to go from here, I have a feeling these files were created in the wrong place. Don't I need mod_concat.so to be in my apache modules directory with the rest? • Thunderbird Transition from POP3 to IMAP Keeping Directory Structure

  For the past 6 years I have been using Thunderbird as a POP3 client to gmail (I do not delete the messages from the server after downloading). I organize all of my mail locally and occasionally use gmail for web access. Obviously, any local changes aren't reflected on the server so I have one inbox with 10s of 1000s of unread messages (since I usually read them on Thunderbird and they do not get marked as read in gmail) I'd like to start using IMAP but the main deterrent is that I'd lose the organization of my email. Is there any utility that I could use to reconstruct the structure? I am not sure if it is possible to correlate messages I've downloaded from the server with messages still on the server. A solution which requires minor scripting/databasing is acceptable!
