  • WIndows 7: would like recursively check a directory for changes to files and folders since my last visit

    I have found varieties of this question. Most of them fall under monitoring and others are said to be buggy. A continuously monitoring program won't help me and neither will a list of the most recently modified files. I would like to check if the directory, its sub folders and files have changed since my last visit. It seems to me that I'd likely need a program that maintains and index of that directory and compares it with its condition when I tell it to. Then that program could output to a log for my use. This is on Windows 7 over a shared network, the folder(s) I'd like to check have 4-50GB of data. I did find this, however I am still learning how to program.   • I created a program based on an LGPL project, and I'm not allowed to publish the source code

    I thought LGPL was a permissive license, just like MIT, BSD or Apache. But today I read, that only linking to LGPL (libraries etc) is allowed from closed-source code - other than that, it's copyleft - so I have to publish code that is based on an LGPL program. I created a program for my employer that is based on an LGPL program, but has considerable modifications to it. Of course, I am not allowed to put that modified source code out there. At the same time, I have to, if I distribute it (right?). So I wonder whether there is a workaround to this, so I can keep this closed-source (I wish I could publish the source) - any suggestions? My idea: can I put most functions of the original LGPL app into an external library, write the core executable from scratch, but refer back to the library for all functions that I haven't modified? Currently, everything is in a .jar file (it's Java/Swing). if you think my idea is legally/technically feasible - how much effort would it be to seperate what I wrote and what the original is? I'm not the most java savvy.

    Hi, I have a website using asp.net mvc in which I need to embed a flash file in view. I am unable to set the relative path for the flash file. Given below is the code I am using: AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase', 'http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0', 'width', '487', 'height', '359', 'menu', 'false', 'movie', 'images/butterfly', 'quality', 'high', 'allowscriptaccess', 'sameDomain', 'pluginspage', 'http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' ); where I copied butterfly.swf in a directory called images. images directory resides in the views folder. If I use code behind( default.aspx default.aspx.cs) in a different solution with the same folder strucuture, browser is able to load the flash file.   • git can I speed up committing?

    I have a big repository in a shared folder. I use git from within a VM on that folder. Everything works nice, but the repository is big and git's searching through all directories and files when committing is slow. I cannot move this repository out of the shared folder. I tried to git add specific files and directories, but when I do git commit -m "something" it still goes off onto it's oddyssey through the directory tree. Can I do commits that ignore the rest of the tree?

  • SCCM 2007 R2 missing boot.wim files from OSD\Boot folder

    I have just installed SCCM 2007 R2 and when I went to deploy an OS i found that there is a problem with the boot.wim...There isnt one in the osd\ folder on the SCCM server. I then tried to use other WIM files and they all failed with "Error: Errors You can not import this boot image. Only finalized boot images are supported" I even tried to recreate the wim with DISM and it still would not accept it. Any ideas.

  • Cannot read/write FTP directory vsftpd on centos 6.0 (empty folder)

    I have Centos 6.0 and installed vsftp with YUM, I added a user with Webmin panel, set its home dir to "/var/www/html" and its shell to "/bin/sh", user id is 500, user group is same as name: "adrian_ftp". When I start a ftp program it logs in but the remote folder always shows empty. I set directory owner and group to adrian_ftp:adrian_ftp , no change, I also made them 0777, no change. Any ideas? I tried for over 3-4 hours :|

Of course I can define my own command (e.g. CHD.BAT) doing something like this: @echo off cd %1 if exist init.bat ( init.bat ) else ( color 0F title Command Prompt ) But I wonder if something like this would be possible using the standard CD command.

    Is there a built-in way to defragment a folder? I am using VM Player so I would like my 3 GB disk image to be defragmented if possible. FYI my disk partition that the image lies in has 12 GB left and has roughly 90% of the disk used. I probably would not need a defrag but I would like to do it if it's possible.

    I see a bunch of junk files in the root folder of my hard drive running Snow Leopard. Here is a screen shot of the files: If I inspect these files, they appear to contain XML with DeviceCertificate, DevicePublicKey, and SystemBUID information, among other XML elements. I do iOS development on this machine. Can anyone explain from where these files came, and if they are an indication of anything serious, such as malware or spyware?

    I've installed Wordpress on IIS, Running on Windows 7 (64Bit). Rest of the site is working perfectly. Except when I try upload images into media. I then get this error message "sample.jpg" has failed to upload due to an error Missing a temporary folder I have edited the php.ini file to point to a directory : D:\work\websites\mySite Saved that and done an IIS reset. Problem still persists. Any ideas what is wrong?

  • CPU Lockup when loading folder of bookmarks in Firefox

    I am running Firefox 3.6 on WinXPSP3 on a duo Core machine with 4G of memory. I am also running Avast! free anti-virus and ZoneAlarm free firewall, both latest versions. Within the last month, my service provider basically forced me to upgrade to a Docsis 3.0 compliant modem (offered me a deal I couldn't turn down). At that point, I also upgraded to FF3.6. Basically, I am not unhappy with many aspects of this switchover, EXCEPT, when I now load a folder of bookmarks (anywhere from 10 to 38) I get nothing like the load times I experienced a couple of months back. It's taking minutes rather than seconds. And the first bookmark in one of the folders, GMail, rarely loads before timing out. I have used the old trick of powering off the cable modem before my day's work. This used to fix 'load-lag' in the old days. I have switched from my ISP's DNS server to Google, OpenDNS and back. And nothing seems to work currently. It's not my DNS cache. That's been flushed and secondary computers also have the same issue when loading folders. I have watched the CPU usage and loading the folder will send VSMon (ZoneAlarm) usage over 40 percent, AVastSvc (Avast!) over 30 and Firefox will then push the needle to 100. There's a brief burst by SVCHost when the others falter in devouring cycles. Then everything subsides to single digits once the last tab is loaded. The only other nominal nastiness is VSMon ALWAYS hitting 50 percent when ANY program starts downloading content from the internet. If I shutdown ZoneAlarm (and VSMon with it), the same slow loading takes place, but this time System is running 50% plus, again driving the usage to 100 per cent. I have my doubts FF3.6 vs FF3.5 is an issue, since the other computers are still running 3.5 and suffer the same issue. Those computers are on, but inactive, most of the time, being backups. Obviously, when the CPU hits 100, I can't do much of anything in FireFox OR in other programs. Video play through WMPC or VLC is extremely choppy, although it doesn't seem to affect the audio. Any ideas what I can try next? Thanks, GM
