Portable version of Sonicwall Global VPN Client? Install without administrator credentials?

Does anyone know of a portable version of the Sonicwall Global VPN Client compatible with Windows 7 64 bit? I basically need to connect to my workplace during heavy snow here in Liverpool, and the only logon I have available on this computer is a non-administrator account (which won't let me install the program)... And I can't get hold of the administrator! If anyone knows of any alternative program/any hacks or other suggestions would be very welcome! Note I've tried extracting the MSI using 7-zip, which presented me with an MSI installer and "RunMSI.exe". The extracted MSI allowed me to get part way through the installation, and then asked for admin password again.

I just launched my first IIS FTP site following many of the tutorials from IIS.NET... I'm using IIS Users and Permissions rather than anonymous and/or basic. This is what I'm seeing while trying to establish the connection... Status: Resolving address of ftp.mydomain.com Status: Connecting to ###.###.##.###:21... $PATH issues with OSX Lion

Apache+Tomcat VS Stand Alone Tomcat or GlassFish

Hi, I am setting up a Debian server to serve Java web applications. I have done quite a bit of research for several weeks now. Tomcat's web site says it is better to use stand alone Tomcat for speed if you are not clustering. However, I have seen many people suggest that using Apache + Tomcat gives you better security and protection against attacks. Please assume that the process will be running on port 80 as an unprivileged user. I would assume that if you are running a firewall in front the server, Tomcat should be fine. If, however, you just want to run an exposed webserver using Linux firewall, what is the best option? Or maybe someone can recommend another open source web server. I am trying to keep the solution as light as possible as these webapps will be running in containers. All opinions welcome and valued. Thanks, Tony Z

How to normalize a word document?

I was too cheap to hire someone to retype a really, really long scanned document full of legalese. So I OCRed it using OmniPage. But the OCR output was kind of disappointing. I got a word doc that has multiple line spacings. The before and after paragraph heights are different all over the place. This would be easy, if the entire document had the same paragraph settings, but it does not. There are probably a half dozen different styles going on. What is the easiest way to normalize the document? For instance, if one paragraph has a line spacing of 20.4 pt and another one has a spacing of 20.9 pt, then I'd like to consider them the same style and set them to a single value? Or really, any suggestion is welcome at this point.

403 error after adding javascript to masterpage for sharepoint.

I am attempting to add highslide-with-html.js from http://highslide.com/ to my masterpage. I am receiving a 403 forbidden error when I use the provided masterpage. I have placed it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033. Test javascript files such as pirate.js which consists solely of alert("Arr!"); have loaded from the same directory. I have provided the code for the masterpage. Can't figure out error in Cisco ASA log "regular translation creation failed for icmp ..."

Every few seconds our new Cisco ASA 5505 firewall is logging errors that I can't figure out with my limited Cisco experience. Severity Date Time Syslog ID Source IP Destination IP Description 3 Mar 25 2010 17:21:14 305006 8.8.8.8 regular translation creation failed for icmp src inside:10.10.0.200 dst outside:8.8.8.8 (type 3, code 3) 3 Mar 25 2010 17:18:37 305006 8.8.4.4 regular translation creation failed for icmp src inside:10.10.0.200 dst outside:8.8.4.4 (type 3, code 3) The logged inside IP is our internal DNS resolver, and the outside IP's are Google's public DNS servers. ICMP Type 3 Code 3 means "Port Unreachable" Our "outside" interface has a fixed IP and our "inside" interface is in the 10.10.0.0/16 subnet. The 'Inspect DNS' Service Policy is enabled, with the preset DNS inspection map. Furthermore there's an ACL that allows all inbound ICMP on the "outside" interface. I've spent hours trying to figure this one out, so any and all advice is welcome!

Specifically, the system needs to satisfy the following: Discussion groups Project management (simple issue tracking, no complex workflows or vcs integrations) News feed for the project(s) File sharing based on authorization/user-roles Custom homepage Custom forms using MS SQL Server as a backend and contents of old forms searchable from the user interface. Now, I think [1-5] is possible using SharePoint (Comments are always welcome :)). I'm not sure about [6]. Is it possible? For instance, can an admin or a user of the SharePoint portal, create a custom form (without any programming) that uses MS SQL Server as a backend and publish it to the portal so that other users can also perform data entry? If it can be done (be it with or without some programming), can users perform text search on form data using the SharePoint interface?

Is there an easy way to add chapters to existing movie files? Note: Actually, I’m not 100% sure if they’re called “chapters” in video files, but it’s the same concept as DVDs. I assume this differs with the video encoding, but any help at all is progress! I have video files in various formats (although .mov, .mp4, and .m4v are my most common). I’m on Mac OS X, but I posted here (instead of the Apple Q&A) because I figured any answers may be useful to other non-Apple power users. Apple-native, application-based solutions preferred (usability is top of my list). However, command-line programs and utilities that do the job are just as welcome. Please share any indirect-but-related wisdom you may have on this topic. Thanks!

Linux: setting up an elite/high-anonimity Web proxy on a dedicated server

I'm renting a dedicated server which I'd like to use to "surf the Web": basically I want to always surf the Web from the same static IP (the one of my dedicated server). I can do it by running Xvnc/FreeNX on the dedicated server, but this is kinda slow and clumsy (I tried it). What are the steps needed to install an "elite/high-anonimity" Web proxy on a dedicated (Debian) Linux server knowing that my two requirements are: I'm the only person that needs access to the proxy all I want is that my broadband (dynamic) IP is completely hidden (I want to always surf from my dedicated server's IP). Note that using the static IP people can find my domains and my real name and I'm perfectly fine with that (actually it is what I want). What I don't want is people knowing from which dynamic IP (broadband) I'm connecting. What are the steps needed to do that? (basically I don't care about "anonimity", what I want is to appear to surf from a static IP and I think I need what is called an "elite" Web proxy to do that, but I'm not sure) Technical infos and sample configuration most welcome :)

Problems with wireless file copy - hangs during copy

I have this problem on my home network where when I try to copy files via wireless connection, at some point the copy fails and the machine doing the copy loses connection to the network. I'm pretty much lost as to figuring out the source for the problem... Some more details that might help: It's not OS related. I have Windows 7 machines and Leopard machines and this occurs on both I'm using a 3com OfficeConnect router Wired transfer works fine Other programs that require heavy wireless traffic work just fine:streaming large HD movies, Xbox Live! ... I'm lost as to how to even begin trying to diagnose the problem so any tips are welcome...

Windows with putty via USB serial cable to Linux serial port - output ok, input isn't

I am trying to get two way serial communications going between a Windows XP system and a Linux system (RHEL 5). I have /sbin/agetty -L 9600 ttyS0 in /etc/inittab. I am using a generic USB to serial adaptor on Windows (Unitek) and a null modem cable. I have putty configured for 9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity, one stop bit, no flow control. I get the login prompt from agetty in the putty window but input does not work; I see weird characters in the putty screen. I can echo output into the device from windows and see it, but cat < /dev/ttyS0 just prints out weird characters from what I type. Any and all suggestions will be welcome. Thanks!

Hello, I have about 2k of file that are currently in lower case like: file_one.cfr file_two.cfr .... I am searching for a fast way to rename them to upper case so they would be like; FILE_ONE.cfr FILE_TWO.cfr .... If I use from my shell; for i in *; do mv $i `echo $i | tr [:lower:] [:upper:]`; done I can get all file and the file extensions to upper case. But the extension should remain in lowercase, so my approach does not work. Any programming language is welcome.

SMTP Relay through exchange

Hi guys, We have a bit of a problem in that we want our printers to email our contractor whenever they develop a fault. The problem is on our corporate network we have no access through the firewall to the internet preventing us to use the external SMTP server. So i suppose the question is can we use our exchange server to do this? IE could I run an SMTP service that would forward to the exchange server which would then send the mail to the contractor? Coming from an ubuntu perspective, if I want to check to see what additional packages will be installed/upgraded I can use apt-get --simulate install <package name> Is there something similar for yum? Our Red hat box (yum) is our production server, so I would like to see exactly what will be happening before I actually install some package. Couldn't really find a good solution, someone suggested: yum --assumeno install <package name> but this returned: Command line error: no such option: --assumeno Using yum version 3.2.22 Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome.

Ping, firewall or DNS problem on Win Server 2008 R2

Hi there, I've installed windows server 2008 as a VM for the developers here to work on. Installed SQL Server 2008 as well as IIS7. I am not quite sure why, I can remote into that machine using the name I gave to it (winserverdev) but the guys that are supposed to use the bloody thing can't. One very interesting thing is that I can connect but I can't ping... not the name nor the IP address. Is there anything that I should be looking in order to make it work? Any ideas are welcome. uploading a python site to httpdocs?

OK - so we've agreed to host a python site, got the files and not sure where to go next. We use a dedicated server and manage it mainly with plesk which has a tick box for a python support but not sure what this does. This is all the info i have from previous hosts; 10,000 ft overview The site is intended to run on a Linux host, specifically Ubuntu Server (tho it should be fine on most distros). The web framework is CherryPy ( http://cherrypy.org/ ), which is a Python based framework. There is no database as such, instead the data is kept in JS files and loaded by the front end. nicholasbarker.com.c6a4facf0192/www/js/video_content_items.js is a prime example of this. How to get nginx to serve up on an elastic IP

I have an EC2 instance which is serving up PHP pages with nginx and php-fpm. This works perfectly fine when accessed through the public DNS for the instance. However if I try to access the site with the Elastic IP which is bound to it, it serves up a generic "Welcome to nginx" page, even though in my server block i have listen 80 (which i thought listened on all incoming IPs on port 80). How to configure Apache2 to host Django and PHP on multiple domains simultaneously?

I have a VPS (Ubuntu 10.04) that hosts multiple domains, one of them being a CodeIgniter (PHP) web app. The others are just static websites, no fancy backend languages required. Well I am starting a new project and want to use Django. I have Django installed, mod_wsgi enabled in Apache2, but when I did the first steps on the documentation (https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/howto/deployment/wsgi/modwsgi/) it seemingly overwrote my existing Apache2 configuration and served up the Django welcome page to all my domains. What should my httpd.conf file should look like so that it doesn't overtake all my domains.
