• Finding an open and closing tag in Regexp

  Is there a way to find custom tags in regexp I.e. match {a}sometext{/a} As well as {c=#fff}sometext{/c} So that it finds the entire block of inner content? The problem is the sometext could have another tag as in: {a=http://www.google.com}{b}Hello, world{/b}{/a} The only solutions I can come up with would match from {a... to .../b} when I want {a... to .../a} is there a single regexp solution, or would it be best to match the start, and then use another method to find the end from the back up, and grab it out that way? I'm using PHP 5.2 so I have all the options that entails.

  Hi All, I have 2 project, and actually these 2 project is about 80% same each other, the mainly difference is just about language and business model, one is for larger audience using english language and have a 9$/month business model, another is using local language with freemium business model. Sometime when I want to add new feature/functionality, I want to add it in both of the project, but also sometime I want to add feature especially just for the local project. My question is, how do I maintain these 2 project with git ? Maintain 2 git repository for each project or Maintain single git repository with 2 mainly branch or Any other suggestion ?

• IE6 HTML control wrapping

  Is there any way to prevent wrapping across controls in IE6? For example, I have a label and a single select box. The select box width is dynamic (depending on the content). I want the label to always be to the left of the select box. Right now the problem I am having is the select box drops below the label. I have tried using the <nobr> tag as well as CSS word-wrap rules, but because this isn't text the wrapping rules do not apply. The only way I have found for sure to make it work is to place them in a two-column table, but I do not like this solution. Is there any other way?

I have three tables : ( EAV model style) 1: Items ( ItemId, ItemName) 2: Fields (FieldId, FieldName) 3: Field Values ( ItemID, FieldId, Value) Can you tell me how to write SINGLE query to get starting 20 records from ALL items where FieldId=4 is equal to TRUE. Expected Result : Columns = ItemID | Name | Field1 | Field2 | Field3 Each Row= ItemId | ItemName| Value1 | Value2 | Value3 Important concerns : 1: Number of fields per item are not known 2: I need one to write ONE query. 3: Query will be running on 100K records, so performance is concern. 4: I am using MySQL 5.0, so need solution for MYSQL Should I denormalize the tables if above query is not possible at all ?   What is a best practice for storing user messages in a configuration file and then retrieving them for certain events throughout an application? I was thinking of having 1 single configuration file with entries such as REQUIRED_FIELD = {0} is a required field INVALID_FORMAT = The format for {0} is {1} etc. and then calling them from a class that would be something like this public class UIMessages { public static final String REQUIRED_FIELD = "REQUIRED_FIELD"; public static final String INVALID_FORMAT = "INVALID_FORMAT"; static { // load configuration file into a "Properties" object } public static String getMessage(String messageKey) { // return properties.getProperty(messageKey); } } Is this the right way to approach this problem or is there some de-facto standard already in place?

• Reading from a oracle temp table in a separate procedure than the one it was populted in

  I have a 2 stored procedures, the first creates an oracle temp table and the second reads from it. The temp table only has scope for that session. I'm calling the procedures from .Net and the second procedure never returns any results. However if I use the same sprocs and parameters in SQL*Plus it works fine. I've tried creating an Oracle Transaction object and had hoped I'd be able to read the tables in while still using the same transaction - trying to emulate an SQL Plus type of single connection environment. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong??

• Intermittent issue - IIS offering to donwload ASPX file instead of executing

  We're getting an intermittent problem with the homepage of our site when IIS will suddenly start offering to download the ASPX file instead of executing it. It happens about once a month, on a random basis. If I open the file in Notepad and re-save it (without making a single change to the code), IIS starts executing the script as normal and doesn't offer the download any more. I can't get my head round this, considering that we can't reproduce the problem. Also, I can't really play with it and test anything when the problem occurs as this is the homepage of the site and needs fixing asap. Any ideas what could be causing this? Files are written to the server over Filezilla FTP. Looks like the homepage is the only page affected. Server is Windows Server 2003, IIS 6.0 with all the latest patches (we actually run two of them, load balanced, and the problem can occur on either server on a random basis). Can't see anything in the Event logs or IIS log.

• Converting String^ and Collection of String^ to const char*

  Using VS2008 Managed C++ to wrap a dll. The native method takes a series of single const char* values and a collection of char* values. Going to make an example function: Function1(char * value1, TF_StringList& catList); TF_StringList is a dll class with 3 insert methods, the one I want to use is: TF_StringList::insert(const char* str); So I set up a wrapper method of: WrapperClass::callFunction(String^ mvalue1, ArrayList mcatList); mvalue1 is converted to const char* using: const char* value1 = (char*)(Marshal::StringToHGlobalAnsi(mvalue1)).ToPointer(); However, when a get to the collection of strings, I iterate over it getting each string using the index: String^ mstr = mcatList[i]; Have tried every way of converting String^ to const char* and in every case the TF_StringList::insert(const char* str) method throws a C2663 error which has to do with the const-ness of the value. What is the problem?

• Firefox extension dev: observing preferences, avoid multiple notifications

  Let's say my Firefox extension has multiple preferences, but some of them are grouped, like check interval, fail retry interval, destination url. Those are used in just single function. When I subscribe to preference service and add observer, the observe callback will be called for each changed preference, so if by chance user changed all of the settings in group, then I will have to do the same routine for the same subsystem as many times as I have items in that preferences group. It's a great redundancy! What I want is observe to be called just once for group of preferences. Say extensions.myextension.interval1 extensions.myextension.site extensions.myextension.retry so if one or all of those preferences are changed, I receive only 1 notification about it. In other words, no matter how many preferences changed in branch, I want the observe callback to called once.

• [C#] What does MissingManifestResourceException mean and how to fix it?

  The situation: I have a class library, called RT.Servers, containing a few resources (of type byte[], but I don't think that's important) The same class library contains a method which returns one of those resources I have a simple program (with a reference to that library) that only calls that single method I get a MissingManifestResourceException with the following message: Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "Servers.Resources.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "RT.Servers" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed. I have never played around with cultures, or with assembly signing, so I don't know what's going on here. Also, this works in another project which uses the same library. Any ideas? Edit: I checked the .resx file; all the resources are marked as "Culture=neutral" there. Also, I noticed a similar question and went to check the namespace in Resources.Designer.cs, but it's correct (it's "RT.Servers").

• Use ASP.NET Profile or not?

  I need to store a few attributes of an authenticated user (I am using Membership API) and I need to make a choice between using Profiles or adding a new table with UserId as the PK. It appears that using Profiles is quick and needs less work upfront. However, I see the following downsides: The profile values are squished into a single ntext column. At some point in the future, I will have SQL scripts that may update user's attributes. Querying a ntext column and trying to update a value sounds a little buggy to me. If I choose to add a new user specific property and would like to assign a default for all the existing users, would it be possible? My first impression has been that using profiles may cause maintainance headaches in the long run. Thoughts?

I looked at the codes, and it seems that it only support primitives, enum and a special hack that assume the type associated with @ForumParam has a constructor with a single string parameter. This force me to use String instead of Date if I want to use ForumParam. it is kind of ugly.   I need to do a bit of mechanical drawing. I can (1) display the part’s image, [self.view addSubview:thePartAsImageView]; (2) implement two sliders (one horizontal for part’s width and one vertical for part’s height), heightSlider.transform = CGAffineTransformRotate(heightSlider.transform, 270.0/180*M_PI); (3) display the corresponding values (dimensions) as the user moves the sliders, and even (4) draw the dimensioning lines with arrowheads: CGContextAddLineToPoint What I can’t do is (5) remove those lines after I’ve drawn them. What I want is “if userTouchedTheHorizontalControl then eraseTheLinesForTheVerticalControl.” If I understand correctly – first, that Quartz composites everything to a single layer, and second, that CALayer, GeekGameBoard and so on only work on Mac -- then I have to do something different. But isn’t there something I can do other than switch to Open GL?

• Regex pattern for searches with include and exclude

  I am working on a Regex pattern for searches that should allow optional '+' sign to include in the search and '-' sign to exclude from the search. For example: +apple orange -peach should search for apples and oranges and not for peaches. Also the pattern should allow for phrases in double quotes mixed with single words, for example: "red apple" -"black grape" +orange - you get the idea, same as most of the internet searches. So I am running 2 regular expressions, first to pick all the negatives, which is simple because '-' is required: (?<=[\-]"?)((?<=")(?<exclude>[^"]+)|(?<exclude>[^\s,\+\-"]+)) And second to pick positives, and it is a little more complex because '+' is optional: ((?<=[\+\s]")(?<include>[^\s"\+\-][^"]+))|(?<include>(?<![\-\w]"?)([\w][^,\s\-\+]+))(?<!") Positive search is where I am having a problem, it works fine when I run it in RegexBuddy but when I try in .Net the pattern picks up second word from negative criteria, for example in -"black grape" it picks up word 'grape' even though it ends with double quote. Any suggestions?

  I am trying to redirect everything to a single page from my /website/folder/ directory. I added a simple .htaccess with this simple code (I know this would require more code in .htaccess but it's just a test). RewriteEngine on RewriteRule .* index.php [NC,L] When I try : http://127.0.0.1:8888/website/folder/fileDoesntExistMustGoIndex I have an "Object not found 404" error and the access.log display: 127.0.0.1 - - [13/Mar/2010:13:48:31 -0500] "GET /website/folder/fileDoesntExistMustGoIndexHTTP/1.1" 404 1118 I have check the httpd.conf and I see nothing that could alter this .htaccess statement. Any idea?

  Given a string named line whose raw version has this value: \rRAWSTRING how can I detect if it has the escape character \r? What I've tried is: if repr(line).startswith('\r'): blah... but it doesn't catch it. I also tried find, such as: if repr(line).find('\r') != -1: blah doesn't work either. What am I missing? thx!   I have the following problem that needs to be solved in a MySQL query: Fields info - textfield date1 - a date field date2 - a date field offset1 - a text field with a number in the first two positions, example "10-High" offset2 - a text field with a number in the first two positions, example "10-High" I need to sort the records by the calculated "sortvalue" based on the current date (today): If today=date2 then sortvalue=offset1*10+offset2*5+1000 else sortvalue=offset1*10+offset2*5 I have quite good understanding of basic SQL with joins etc, but this I am not even sure if its possible...if it helps I could perhaps live with a single formula giving the same sort of effect as the IFs do....ie. before date1 = low value, after date2 = high value... • image problem with dreamweaver

  i'm trying to create a newsletter in a single html file, which will be loaded into outlook express and sent out as a mail. i have like a few images embedded onto the html file but 2 of them cant be loaded for preview in design mode. there is no problem for the rest of the images. those images that cant be loaded has the grey color icon. the directory for the images are the same. i have copied and pasted the absolute directory for the images that cant load and it doesnt work. the images loads fine when executed from the html file that was uploaded to the webserver. i need to get the newsletter out tomorrow, any assistance here? thanks in advance.

• pushViewController for same instance - only for animation purpose

  Hi there, I am having single table view in a view controller. That table view lists the countries first. When I click on a country(row), it has to push the same view controller's view with cities under that country. I need to see the slide animation, which we usally get while pushing views in navigator. Is it possible to use the pushViewController for the same view controller by calling the tableView reloadData with city data (This should happen when country is selected) ?
