Hi all
I am using windows authentication within an ASP.NET application. I am wondering how to best get the objectGuid from the currently logged in user?
Regards, Egil.
Hi everybody.
I have an asp .net page like this:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3631/3690714302_c17b259863.jpg
My Table is Gridview and some Label, anybody can tell me how to create a button to convert my page to image or pdf file and save it to desktop.
Help me please T__T.
Say I have this url:
http://site.example/dir/
In this folder I have these files: test.ascx.cs and test.ascx
Just to be clear, I am not a .NET developer.
From a security point of view - why can't I access http://site.example/dir/test.ascx.cs and how secure is it to keep those files there?
I assume IIS filters out request that query these kind of files, but can someone explain me this?
Thank you.
Can I write code against .Net 4 and its libraries using VS2008? If so how should I configure it?
I realise that VS2008 will probably struggle with language changes such as the dynamic keyword but can I install the version 4 and target it anyway? My only real interest is in being able to use some of the new libraries, in particular I'm interested in the TPL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_Extensions)
I'm an ASP.NET c# developer using VS2010 as my development platform. I am interested in accessing Sketchup models using a web form interface.
Has anyone done this? I am looking for a simple "Hellow World" web application that uses the Ruby Extension model.
When building an ASP.NET MVC application with High Availability is it best practice to keep the session state on the SQL Server, if there is no state server available?

I followed the answer to this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1245364/securing-elmah-in-asp-net-website to restrict access to the elmah handler. However, it seems that adding an RSS feed to Outlook for the URL elmah.axd/rss or elmah.axd/digestrss bypasses the authentication. What's the point of securing the handler if someone can guess the RSS URL and subscribe to a feed of the error log?
If you have a fair number of regular expressions used by both client (javascript) and server side code (C#, vb.net) and want to store them in one place to avoid duplication, where do you store them?
I could use registerscript and write out the regex as strings, but just wondering if there is something more elegant.
We have an ASP.NET form with the following doctype:-
We need to add autocomplete=off (by setting the TextBox property of AutoCompleteType="Disabled") to the input fields but still need the form to pass XHTML Validation (yes I know it's not XHTML valid because of this).
Is there anythign we can do to ignore the autocomplete=off??
Something like:-
!ATTLIST input autocomplete CDATA #IMPLIED
Thanks in advance.

I'm writting my own view engine.
public class MyViewEngine : RazorViewEngine
{
public override ViewEngineResult FindView(ControllerContext controllerContext, string viewName, string masterName, bool useCache)
{
// Here, how do I get attributes defined on top of the Action ?
}
}
ASP.NET MVC Custom Attributes within Custom View Engine
Above SO Question has how to get attributes defined on top of the Controller. But I need to get attributes defined on Action.
I'm currently writing some code that uses Flee to evaluate a number of rules and I'd like to include an ASP.NET based object inspector in the configuration screen so users can inspect the values of objects that are made available.
I've put together a fairly basic routine to recurse an objects properties and spit it out but before I go and write something more polished, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a component that provides this functionality.
I want to override a string from a System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations for an ASP.NET project. Do I need to make a satellite assembly, messing with custom build tasks, al.exe etc.? Even if yes, I couldn't find how to convert .resx to .resources to feed it to al.exe. And if no, where to put the .resx. and how to name it?
There are some questions on SO about Html diff engines, but i cant find right answer. What i need is .NET library for comparing two rendered html strings and displaying diff (like SO renders questions/answer editing revisions (example)).

Hi, guys.
Now on unauthorized attempt to access an action my ASP.NET MVC app redirects user to the login page and generates URL shown below:
http://www.mysite.com/Account/Log?ReturnUrl=%2Ftest%2Fsampleaction
So, is there a way to eliminate this string from the URL, but to save it somewhere to be able to redirect user back after login?
Hi,
I am writing a custom installer in C#.

I have two ASP.NET MVC web applications. One of them logs unhandled exceptions to the windows event log. The other doesn't.
Is there a setting in IIS or the web.config to enable event log logging?
Apologies for the broad question, I'm really looking for avenues for investigation.
I there a simple way when using ASP.NET 4.0 routing with Web Forms to produce a route that will act as some kind of wildcard?
It seems to me that within WebForms, you have to specify a route for every page - I am looking for some kind of generic route that can be used where nothing specific is required, perhaps mapping directly from path to path so...
http://somedomain.com/folder1/folder2/page would possibly map to folder1/folder2/page.aspx
Any suggestions?
Thanks
