  It is written byte[][] getImagesForFields(java.lang.String[] fieldnames) Gets an array of images for the given fields. On the other hand, as long as I use the method in the web application project built on asp.net 2.o using c#; the provided web method declared above, returns sbyte; Have a look my code below; formClearanceService.openSession(imageServiceUser); formClearanceService.prepareInstance(formId); byte[][] fieldImagesList = formClearanceService.getImagesForFields(fieldNames); formClearanceService.closeSession(); thus I get the following error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'sbyte[]' to 'byte[][]' So now, 1- should I ask the web service provider what is going on? or 2- any other way that can use the sbyte as I was suppose to use byte[][] like following using: byte[] ssss = fieldImagesList [0]..

• Alternative to jQuery .data()?

  I'm a big fan of jQuery's .data() method, but I can't always use it. Often times I am rendering html templates that I pass via AJAX and I need to attach metadata to each of the elements in the template. For example: <ul> {% for item in itemlist %} <li metadata="{{ item.metadata }}">{{ item.name }}</li> {% endfor %} </ul> I know attaching attributes to store data is bad practice (and it might not even work in older versions of IE). What is the best practice? Is there a good alternative to this method?

  hi, I am using jquery ajax method on my aspx page,which will invoke the webmethod in the code behind.Currently the webmethod takes a couple of parameters like firstname,lastname,address etc which I am passing from jquery ajax method using data:JSON.stringify({fname:firstname,lname:lastname,city:city}) now my requirement has been changed such that,the number and type of parameters that are going to be passed is not fixed for ex.parameter combination can be something like fname,city or fname,city or city,lname or fname,lname,city or something else.So the webmethod should be such that it should accept any number parameters.I thought of using arrays to do so, as described here. But I do not understand how can I identify which and how many parameters have been passed to the webmethod to insert/update the data to the DB.Please could someone help me with this? thanks

• How can I link axes of imshow plots for zooming and panning?

  Suppose I have a figure canvas with 3 plots... 2 are images of the same dimensions plotted with imshow, and the other is some other kind of subplot. I'd like to be able to link the x and y axes of the imshow plots so that when I zoom in one (using the zoom tool provided by the NavigationToolbar), the other zooms to the same coordinates, and when I pan in one, the other pans as well. Subplot methods such as scatter and histogram can be passed kwargs specifying an axes for sharex and sharey, but imshow has no such configuration. I started hacking my way around this by subclassing NavigationToolbar2WxAgg (shown below)... but there are several problems here. 1) This will link the axes of all plots in a canvas since all I've done is get rid of the checks for a.in_axes() 2) This worked well for panning, but zooming caused all subplots to zoom from the same global point, rather than from the same point in each of their respective axes. Can anyone suggest a workaround? • Examining a lambda expression at runtime in C#

  I have a method Get on a type MyType1 accepting a Func<MyType2, bool> as a parameter. An example of its use: mytype1Instance.Get(x => x.Guid == guid)); I would like create a stub implementation of the method Get that examines the incoming lambda expression and determines what the value of guid is. Clearly the lambda could be "anything", but I'm happy for the stub to make an assumption about the lambda, that it is trying to match on the Guid property. How can I do this? I suspect it involves the use of the built-in Expression type?

• Protect my PHP App

  Hello all, I have developed an app and its written in PHP (with a bunch of SQL scripts), this app will be used by a few small companies. For them to use it, I will have to install Apache and SQL Server for them. Every method I have thought has fallen short of what I need. I was actually just hoping to use ZendGuard or IonCube but they don't support PHP 5.3.x. Is there a simpler method where I can maybe store a key in the database and make the app run only when it knows its on that server? Maybe create a key based on some random numbers/letters and the machine name, sql server host name and encode/decode this when ever the system is in use? Thanks all for any help or ideas

User clicks something in view 2. this is passed on to controller to manage 3. controller makes some changes in Model 4. Model calls method on view which has the logic to refresh UI Questions around these: Q1) Can controller also modify View or Model only updates View? Q2) When screen loads for the first time, there is no Model change. Then, who fetches data from model and populates view? View directly calls Model and populates itself OR controller gets data and passes to view method OR some dummy event is raised at Model which updates View?

  I am using C#, Entity Framework and SQL Server 2008 Express. I am connected to the database over the internet. What is the best method to speed up saving/updating data to database? It takes 87 seconds to save 180 records to the database. It takes only 3.5 seconds to save the same number of records to local (on the same machine) SQL Server. For every record that I save/update I check if record with this primary key exists in the database, if it doesn't exists I simply save it, if it exists I update it using ObjectContext.ApplyCurrentValues(entitySetName, currentEntity) method.

  I have a SQl Server 2005 database backup that I want to transfer to SQL Server 2008 on my server. I spent 3 days transferring the .bak file from my own machine to my server. I then tried to restore the bak file and I got an error. I then read online a completely different method for adding a SQL server 2005 Database to SQL server 2008 which was the detach and attach method which means I need to detach the database in SQL Server 2005 and then transfer the MDF file from it via ftp to my server and then attach it in SQL Server 2008. Well I already used a lot of bandwidth transferring the .bak file to my server. is there a way to convert my .bak file which is already on my server to an MDF file and attach it in SQL server 2008?

• Why is 'virtual' optional for overridden methods in derived classes?

  When a method is declared as virtual in a class, its overrides in derived classes are automatically considered virtual as well, and the C++ language makes this keyword virtual optional in this case: class Base { virtual void f(); }; class Derived : public Base { void f(); // 'virtual' is optional but implied. }; My question is: What is the rationale for making virtual optional? I know that it is not absolutely necessary for the compiler to be told that, but I would think that developers would benefit if such a constraint was enforced by the compiler. E.g., sometimes when I read others' code I wonder if a method is virtual and I have to track down its superclasses to determine that. And some coding standards (Google) make it a 'must' to put the virtual keyword in all subclasses.

Interface contains a few methods, one of them should return true if all elements of this set are also in the set. • What's the best/easiest way to compare two times in Objective-C?

  I've got a string representation of a time, like "11:13 AM." This was produced using an NSDateFormatter and the stringFromDate: method. I'd like to compare this time to the current time, but when I use the dateFromString: method to turn the string back into a date, a year, month and day are added - which I don't want. I just need to know if right now is < or the time stored in the string. What's going to be the best way to handle that? Thanks in advance for your help.

• Duplicates in a sorted java array

  I have to write a method that takes an array of ints that is already sorted in numerical order then remove all the duplicate numbers and return an array of just the numbers that have no duplicates. That array must then be printed out so I can't have any null pointer exceptions. The method has to be in O(n) time, can't use vectors or hashes. This is what I have so far but it only has the first couple numbers in order without duplicates and then just puts the duplicates in the back of the array.   I'm trying to style a table row using both cycle and a helper, like shown: <tr class= <%= cycle("list-line-odd #{row_class(item)}", "list-line-even #{row_class(item)}")%> > However, when I do this, the resulting HTML is: <tr class = "list-line-odd" lowest-price> with the return from the helper method not enclosed in the quotes, and therefore not recognized.   Hi all, I am not a Java programmer by trade. C and Fortran mostly. However, I have this one-off project someone wants done. Connect to some web-based database and retrieve some data from it. I asked around, and someone finally linked me to a WSDL page. I click on this link, and I see a huge XML looking file. If I am writing a stand-alone java application, how do I go about calling these (promising looking) method names that I see in the wsdl. You know "getCoordinates" is there, but i have no idea how to call that method. After googling, I am finding a lot of different ways, and I am not sure what is the best way for my simple application.   I have a simple class that essentially just holds some values. I have overridden the ToString() method to return a nice string representation. Now, I want to create a ToXml() method, that will return something like this: <Song> <Artist>Bla</Artist> <Title>Foo</Title> </Song> Of course, I could just use a StringBuilder here, but I would like to return an XmlNode or XmlElement, to be used with XmlDocument.AppendChild. I do not seem to be able to create an XmlElement other than calling XmlDocument.CreateElement, so I wonder if I have just overlooked anything, or if I really either have to pass in either a XmlDocument or ref XmlElement to work with, or have the function return a String that contains the XML I want?

  I have a scalar UDF that I know to be deterministic, however SQL doesn't. Is there a way to declare it as deterministic so that I can then use it in a persisted computed column definition? further clarification: The purpose of this exercise is that I need to harvest out specific values from an XML column on the row. I can't use the value method of the xml column in my computed column definition, but I can use it in a UDF. I know the xpath query in the value method will produce the same output give the same input so while I certainly understand that not all calls to value will be deterministic I want to assert that mine is.

• Why input elements don't render the value passed in ASP.Net MVC?

  This post asks this question but doesn't really give an answer, so I thought I would ask the question differently. I have a page that renders a hidden value from the model: <%=Html.Hidden("myName", model.myValue) %> Since I am passing a value in the value parameter, you would think it would output that value, but it doesn't. The code for rendering input fields has the following: string attemptedValue = (string)htmlHelper.GetModelStateValue(name, typeof(string)); tagBuilder.MergeAttribute("value", attemptedValue ?? ((useViewData) ? htmlHelper.EvalString(name) : valueParameter), isExplicitValue); Basically, if the ModelState (which contains posted values) contains a value for the "name" passed, it will use that value instead of your passed value to the helper method. In my case, I updated the model and my updated value wasn't outputted. If I pass a value to a method, I expect that value to be rendered. Am I missing something in this design or is it just wrong?

  Hi All I'm currently trying to write a Dump() method from LinqPad equivalent iin C# for my own amusment. I'm moving from Java to C# and this is an exercise rather than a business requirement. I've got almost everything working except for Dumping a Dictionary. The problem is that KeyValuePair is a Value type. For most other Value types I simply call the ToString method but this is insufficient as the KeyValuePair may contain Enumerables and other objects with undesirable ToString methods. So I need to work out if it's a KeyValuePair and then cast it. In Java I could use wildcard generics for this but I don't know the equivalent in C#. Your quest, given an object o, determine if it's a KeyValuePair and call Print on its key and value. Print(object o) { ... } Thanks!

  can someone clarify this for me: When there’s more than one argument, the arguments are declared within the method name after the colons. Arguments break the name apart in the declaration, just as in a message. For example: - (void)setWidth:(float)width height:(float)height; So in the above: method is for instance variables returns void parameter#1 is a float, named width. parameter#2 is a float,named height. But why is it hieght:(float)height; and not just: - (void)setWidth: (float)width (float)height;
