  • Resolving HttpRequestScoped Instances outside of a HttpRequest in Autofac

    - by Page Brooks
Suppose I have a dependency that is registered as HttpRequestScoped so there is only one instance per request. How could I resolve a dependency of the same type outside of an HttpRequest? For example: // Global.asax.cs Registration builder.Register(c => new MyDataContext(connString)).As<IDatabase>().HttpRequestScoped(); _containerProvider = new ContainerProvider(builder.Build()); // This event handler gets fired outside of a request // when a cached item is removed from the cache. public void CacheItemRemoved(string k, object v, CacheItemRemovedReason r) { // I'm trying to resolve like so, but this doesn't work... var dataContext = _containerProvider.ApplicationContainer.Resolve<IDatabase>(); // Do stuff with data context. } The above code throws a DependencyResolutionException when it executes the CacheItemRemoved handler: No scope matching the expression 'value(Autofac.Builder.RegistrationBuilder`3+<c__DisplayClass0[MyApp.Core.Data.MyDataContext,Autofac.Builder.SimpleActivatorData,Autofac.Builder.SingleRegistrationStyle]).lifetimeScopeTag.Equals(scope.Tag)' is visible from the scope in which the instance was requested.

  • Castle Windsor Dynamic Property in XML config

    - by haxelit
I'm trying to set the DataContext on ApplicationMainWindow which is a WPF window. When I set it up in the XML like so it leaves the DataContext null: <!-- View Models --> <component id="mainwindow.viewmodel" type="ProjectTracking.ApplicationMainViewModel, ProjectTracking" inspectionBehavior="none" lifestyle="transient"> </component> <!-- UI Components --> <component id="mainwindow.view" type="ProjectTracking.ApplicationMainWindow, ProjectTracking" inspectionBehavior="none" lifestyle="transient"> <parameters> <DataContext>${mainwindow.viewmodel}</DataContext> </parameters> </component> But if I do it this way via C# it works. _Kernel.Register( ... Component.For<ApplicationMainWindow>() .DynamicParameters( (k,d) => { d["DataContext"] = k[typeof(ApplicationMainViewModel)]; }) ); I'm instantiating my window like so: Window window = _Kernel[typeof(ApplicationMainWindow)] as Window; When I configure windsor via the xml config it leaves my DataContext NULL, but when I configure it via code it works like a charm. Do I need to use code to pull this off, or should it work via XML config ? Thanks, Raul

  • Unity to dispose of object

    - by Johan Levin
Is there a way to make Unit dispose property-injected objects as part of the Teardown? The background is that I am working on an application that uses ASP.NET MVC 2, Unity and WCF. We have written our own MVC controller factory that uses unity to instantiate the controller and WCF proxies are injected using the [Dependency] attribute on public properties of the controller. At the end of the page life cycle the ReleaseController method of the controller factory is called and we call IUnityContainer.Teardown(theMvcController). At that point the controller is disposed as expected but I also need to dispose the injected wcf-proxies. (Actually I need to call Close and/or Abort on them and not Dispose but that is a later problem.) I could of course override the controllers' Dispose methods and clean up the proxies there, but I don't want the controllers to have to know about the lifecycles of the injected interfaces or even that they refer to WCF proxies. If I need to write code myself for this - what would be the best extension point? I'd appreciate any pointer.

  • Ninject and DataContext disposal

    - by Bas
I'm using Ninject to retrieve my DataContext from the kernel and I was wondering if Ninject automatically disposes the DataContext, or how he handles the dispose() behaviour. From own experiences I know disposing the datacontext is pretty important and that whenever you create a direct object of the DataContext (as in: new DataContext()) you should use a using() block. My question thus is: When im retrieving my DataContext from the kernel, should I still have to use a using() block? Or does Ninject fix this for me?

  • AutoFac Autowiring Conventions

    - by Johannes
StructureMap has the ability to apply conventions when scanning. Thus IFoo = Foo, without explicit registration. Is something simular available in AutoFac? Looked around and just can't find anything helpfull. Thanks,

  • IoC in MVP Asp.NET

    - by Diego Dias
Hello, Guys. I'm developing a application using MVP and I have a question about How inject my dependencis in my presenters class. Because my presente receve too an instance of the my view. I thought of create a viewbase and inside it I create my dependencies instances and inject it in my presenter instance. Could also have a HttpModule that intercept the calls to page and then I could inject my dependencies. I have some ideas but none I can inject my view in constructor only I can inject my view in mey presente by property. Someone have any ideas how do you do to inject my dependencies and my view in constructor of the presenter?

  • Avoiding Service Locator with AutoFac 2

    - by Page Brooks
I'm building an application which uses AutoFac 2 for DI. I've been reading that using a static IoCHelper (Service Locator) should be avoided. IoCHelper.cs public static class IoCHelper { private static AutofacDependencyResolver _resolver; public static void InitializeWith(AutofacDependencyResolver resolver) { _resolver = resolver; } public static T Resolve<T>() { return _resolver.Resolve<T>(); } } From answers to a previous question, I found a way to help reduce the need for using my IoCHelper in my UnitOfWork through the use of Auto-generated Factories. Continuing down this path, I'm curious if I can completely eliminate my IoCHelper. Here is the scenario: I have a static Settings class that serves as a wrapper around my configuration implementation. Since the Settings class is a dependency to a majority of my other classes, the wrapper keeps me from having to inject the settings class all over my application. Settings.cs public static class Settings { public static IAppSettings AppSettings { get { return IoCHelper.Resolve<IAppSettings>(); } } } public interface IAppSettings { string Setting1 { get; } string Setting2 { get; } } public class AppSettings : IAppSettings { public string Setting1 { get { return GetSettings().AppSettings["setting1"]; } } public string Setting2 { get { return GetSettings().AppSettings["setting2"]; } } protected static IConfigurationSettings GetSettings() { return IoCHelper.Resolve<IConfigurationSettings>(); } } Is there a way to handle this without using a service locator and without having to resort to injecting AppSettings into each and every class? Listed below are the 3 areas in which I keep leaning on ServiceLocator instead of constructor injection: AppSettings Logging Caching

  • Unable to run OpenMPI across more than two machines

    - by rcollyer
When attempting to run the first example in the boost::mpi tutorial, I was unable to run across more than two machines. Specifically, this seemed to run fine: mpirun -hostfile hostnames -np 4 boost1 with each hostname in hostnames as <node_name> slots=2 max_slots=2. But, when I increase the number of processes to 5, it just hangs. I have decreased the number of slots/max_slots to 1 with the same result when I exceed 2 machines. On the nodes, this shows up in the job list: <user> Ss orted --daemonize -mca ess env -mca orte_ess_jobid 388497408 \ -mca orte_ess_vpid 2 -mca orte_ess_num_procs 3 -hnp-uri \ 388497408.0;tcp://<node_ip>:48823 Additionally, when I kill it, I get this message: node2- daemon did not report back when launched node3- daemon did not report back when launched The cluster is set up with the mpi and boost libs accessible on an NFS mounted drive. Am I running into a deadlock with NFS? Or, is something else going on?

  • SWFLoader - "SWF all over the place"

    - by Yan
I need to load in an swf component but I want it to be an exact width and height, problem is that when I set width and height it doesn't matter, content of that swf still goes out of predefined bounds. How can I tell it not to do so, so it will work exactly as in html document embed?

  • NHibernate Session DI from StructureMap in components

    - by Corey Coogan
    I know this is somewhat of a dead horse, but I'm not finding a satisfactory answer. First let me say, I am NOT dealing with a web app, otherwise managing NH Session is quite simple. I have a bunch of enterprise components. Those components have their own service layer that will act on multiple repositories. For example: Claim Component Claim Processing Service Claim Repository Billing Component Billing Service Billing REpository Policy Component PolicyLockService Policy Repository Now I may have a console, or windows application that needs to coordinate an operation that involves each of the services. I want to write the services to be injected with (DI) their required repositories. The Repositories should have an ISession, or similar, injected into them so that I can have this operation performed under one ISession/ITransaction. I'm aware of the Unit Of Work pattern and the many samples out there, but none of them showed DI. I'm also leery of [ThreadStatic] because this stuff can also be used from WCF and I have found enough posts describing how to do that. I've read about Business Conversations, but need something simple that each windows/console app can easily bootstrap since we have alot of these apps and some pretty inexperienced developers. So how can I configure StructureMap to inject the same ISession into each of the dependent repositories from an application? Here's a totally contrived and totally made up example without using SM (for clarification only - please don't spend energy critisizing): ConsoleApplication Main { using(ISession session = GetSession()) using(ITransaction trans = session.BeginTransaction()) { var policyRepo = new PolicyRepo(session); var policyService = new PolicyService(policyRepo); var billingRepo = new BillingRepo(session) var billingService = new BillingService(billingRepo); var claimRepo = new ClaimsRepo(session); var claimService = new ClaimService(claimRepo, policyService, billingService); claimService.FileCLaim(); trans.Commit(); } }

  • Cross platform unicode path handling

    - by Matt Joiner
I'm using boost::filesystem for cross-platform path manipulation, but this breaks down when calls need to be made down into interfaces I don't control that won't accept UTF-8. For example when using the Windows API, I need to convert to UTF-16, and then call the wide-string version of whatever function I was about to call, and then convert any output back to UTF-8. While the wpath, and other w* forms of many of the boost::filesystem functions help keep sanity, are there any suggestions for how best to handle this conversion to wide-string forms where needed, while maintaining consistency in my own code?

  • Define Default constructor Structuremap in a Generic Repository

    - by Ricky
Hello guys, I have a generic IRepository that has 2 constructors, one have none parameters, other has the datacontext as parameter. I want to define to structuremap to aways in this case use the parameterless constructor. I want a way to create a parameterless contructor, other solutions that I have seen, they create a new Datacontext and pass it to the constructor that has parameters.

  • How to override the behavior of Spring @Autowired

    - by Mark
Hi a little background: I am Using Spring 2.5, and specifically spring IOC and annotations. I am using @Autowired in my code (the Autowiring is done by type) and use @Component for exposing Classes to the Automatic wiring. The situation described bellow arose while i tried to test my code. now to the problem: Note: i use a different Spring Context for the Test environment. I have a class FOO which is @Autowired but in the test context i want to use a different class of the same type MockFoo (extends FOO) The Spring Setup of course fails do so automatically due to multiple options for the Dependency Injection of the FOO class (both FOO and MockFOO comply to the Type check) I am looking for a way to inject the test bean instead of the original bean. I expected Spring to allow using the Context configurion file to override a bean injection or to order Spring not to autowire a specific bean BUT All these option seem to exists only for the beans which were originally defined in the Spring Context Configuration file

  • Dependency Injection mechanism

    - by abc
The advantage of inversion of control is that it decouples objects from specific lookup mechanisms and implementations of the objects it depends on. As a result, more flexibility is obtained for production applications as well as for testing. what does it mean actually ?

  • IOC - Should util classes with static helper methods be wired up with IOC?

    - by Greg
Hi, Just trying to still get my head around IOC principles. Q1: Static Methods - Should util classes with static helper methods be wired up with IOC? For example if I have a HttpUtils class with a number of static methods, should I be trying to pass it to other business logic classes via IOC? Follow on questions for this might be: Q2: Singletons - What about things like logging where you may typically get access to it via a Logger.getInstance() type call. Would you normally leave this as is, and NOT use IOC for injecting the logger into business classes that need it? Q3: Static Classes - I haven't really used this concept, but are there any guidelines for how you'd typically handle this if you were moving to an IOC based approach. Thanks in advance.

  • Version of STL optimized for compile time?

    - by anon
Hi! I'm looking for a variant of the STL (it's okay if it doesn't have all the functionality) that's optimized for short compile times -- I get bothered by long compile times that delay my compile-debug-edit cycle. I'm mainly interested in the containers of the STL: vector/map, and not so much the algorithms. Thanks!

  • Can't Instantiate Windsor Custom Component Activator

    - by jeffn825
Hi, I'm getting an exception calling Resolve: KernelException: Could not instantiate custom activator Inner Exception: {"Constructor on type 'MyProj.MyAdapter`1[[MyProj.MyBusinessObject, MyAsm, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null]]' not found."} There's definitely a public parameterless constructor there (and I've verified this using reflection at runtime)...so I figure the problem might have to do with the fact that it's generic? I've tried getting the component model object and setting RequiresGenericArguments to true, but that hasn't gotten me anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

  • StrcutureMap Wiring - Sanity Check Please

    - by Steve Ward
Hi - Im new to IOC and StructureMap and have an n-level application and am looking at how to setup the wirings (ForRequestedType ...) and just want to check with people with more experience that this is the best way of doing it! I dont want my UI application object to reference my persistence layer directly so am not able to wire everything up in this UI project. I now have it working by defining a Registry class in each project which wires up the types in the project as needed. The layer above registers its types and also calls the assembly below and looks for registries so that all types are registered throught the hierrachy. E.g. I have UI, Service, Domain, and Persistence libraries. In my service layer the registry looks like Scan(x => { x.Assembly("MyPersistenceProject"); x.LookForRegistries(); }); ForRequestedType<IService>().TheDefault.Is.OfConcreteType<MyService>(); Is this a recommended way of doing this in a setup such as this? Are there better ways and what are the advantages / disadvantages of these approaches in this case?

  • Scaling Java applications - existing cluster-aware IoC frameworks?

    - by Zoltan
Most people use some kind of an IoC framework - Guice, Spring, you name it. Many of us need to scale their applications too, so they complicate their lifes with Terracotta, Glassfish/JBoss/insertyourfavouritehere clusters. But is it really the way to go? Are you using any of the above? Here's some ideas we currently have implemented in a yet-to-be-opensourced framework, and I'd like to see what you think of it, or maybe "it's a complete ripoff of XY!". cluster-wide object replication - give it a name, and whenever you do something (in any node) on such an object, it will get replicated - with different guarantees do transparent soft-loadbalancing - simplest scenario: restful webservice method call proxied to an other node view-only node injection: inject a proxy to a "named" object, and get your calls automatically proxied to a node Would you use something like that? Is there a current, stable, enterprise-ready implementation out there?

  • Importing into a Exported object with MEF

    - by Nathan W
I'm sorry if this question has already been asked 100 times, but I'm really struggling to get it to work. Say I have have three projects. Core.dll Has common interfaces Shell.exe Loads all modules in assembly folder. References Core.dll ModuleA.dll Exports Name, Version of module. References Core.dll Shell.exe has a [Export] that contains an single instance of a third party application that I need to inject into all loaded modules. So far the code that I have in Shell.exe is: static void Main(string[] args) { ThirdPartyApp map = new ThirdPartyApp(); var ad = new AssemblyCatalog(Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly()); var dircatalog = new DirectoryCatalog("."); var a = new AggregateCatalog(dircatalog, ad); // Not to sure what to do here. } class Test { [Export(typeof(ThirdPartyApp))] public ThirdPartyApp Instance { get; set; } [Import(typeof(IModule))] public IModule Module { get; set; } } I need to create a instance of Test, and load Instance with map from the Main method then load the Module from ModuleA.dll that is in the executing directory then [Import] Instance into the loaded module. In ModuleA I have a class like this: [Export(IModule)] class Module : IModule { [Import(ThirdPartyApp)] public ThirdPartyApp Instance {get;set;} } I know I'm half way there I just don't know how to put it all together, mainly with loading up test with a instance of map from Main. Could anyone help me with this.
