  • Android Notification with AlarmManager, Broadcast and Service

    - by user2435829
    this is my code for menage a single notification: myActivity.java public class myActivity extends Activity { protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.mylayout); cal = Calendar.getInstance(); // it is set to 10.30 cal.set(Calendar.HOUR, 10); cal.set(Calendar.MINUTE, 30); cal.set(Calendar.SECOND, 0); long start = cal.getTimeInMillis(); if(cal.before(Calendar.getInstance())) { start += AlarmManager.INTERVAL_FIFTEEN_MINUTES; } Intent mainIntent = new Intent(this, myReceiver.class); pIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(this, 0, mainIntent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT); AlarmManager myAlarm = (AlarmManager)getSystemService(ALARM_SERVICE); myAlarm.setRepeating(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, start, AlarmManager.INTERVAL_FIFTEEN_MINUTES, pIntent); } } myReceiver.java public class myReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver { @Override public void onReceive(Context c, Intent i) { Intent myService1 = new Intent(c, myAlarmService.class); c.startService(myService1); } } myAlarmService.java public class myAlarmService extends Service { @Override public IBinder onBind(Intent arg0) { return null; } @Override public void onCreate() { super.onCreate(); } @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") @Override public void onStart(Intent intent, int startId) { super.onStart(intent, startId); displayNotification(); } @Override public void onDestroy() { super.onDestroy(); } public void displayNotification() { Intent mainIntent = new Intent(this, myActivity.class); PendingIntent pIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, mainIntent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT); NotificationManager nm = (NotificationManager) this.getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE); Notification.Builder builder = new Notification.Builder(this); builder.setContentIntent(pIntent) .setAutoCancel(true) .setSmallIcon(R.drawable.ic_noti) .setTicker(getString(R.string.notifmsg)) .setContentTitle(getString(R.string.app_name)) .setContentText(getString(R.string.notifmsg)); nm.notify(0, builder.build()); } } AndroidManifest.xml <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WAKE_LOCK" /> ... ... ... <service android:name=".myAlarmService" android:enabled="true" /> <receiver android:name=".myReceiver"/> IF the time has NOT past yet everything works perfectly. The notification appears when it must appear. BUT if the time HAS past (let's assume it is 10.31 AM) the notification fires every time... when I close and re-open the app, when I click on the notification... it has a really strange behavior. I can't figure out what's wrong in it. Can you help me please (and explain why, if you find a solution), thanks in advance :)

  • Windowless OpenGL

    - by ext
Hi, I would like to have a windowless OpenGL context (on both GNU/linux with Xorg and Windows). I'm not going to render anything but only call functions like glGetString, glCompileShader and similar. I've done some goggling but not come up with anything useful, except creating a hidden window; which seems like a hack to me. So does anyone have a better idea (for any platform)?

  • hash password in mssql (asp.net)

    - by ile
Is this how hashed password stored in mssql should look like? This is function I use to hash password (I found it in some tutorial) public string EncryptPassword(string password) { //we use codepage 1252 because that is what sql server uses byte[] pwdBytes = Encoding.GetEncoding(1252).GetBytes(password); byte[] hashBytes = System.Security.Cryptography.MD5.Create().ComputeHash(pwdBytes); return Encoding.GetEncoding(1252).GetString(hashBytes); } Thanks, Ile

  • What exactly do "IB" and "UB" mean?

    - by cHao
I've seen the terms "IB" and "UB" used several times, particularly in the context of C++. I've tried googling them, but apparently that two-letter combination sees a lot of use. :P So, i ask you...what does it mean, if it's said like it's a bad thing?

  • What is the performance difference between blocks and callbacks?

    - by Don
One of the things that block objects, introduced in Snow Leopard, are good for is situations that would previously have been handled with callbacks. The syntax is much cleaner for passing context around. However, I haven't seen any information on the performance implications of using blocks in this manner. What, if any, performance pitfalls should I look out for when using blocks, particularly as a replacement for a C-style callback?

  • opensourcing a website code

    - by pygabriel
Hi! I'm writing a little website (webapp) in php+codeigniter, I'd really like to make it open source (to attract collaborators and to have a free VCS hosting). Is that a good practice? This mine security? Which are the best tools to change important data before uploading? (like config files with db names and passwords used for testing etc..)

  • Django - use template tag and 'with'?

    - by AP257
I have a custom template tag: def uploads_for_user(user): uploads = Uploads.objects.filter(uploaded_by=user, problem_upload=False) num_uploads = uploads.count() return num_uploads and I'd like to do something like this, so I can pluralize properly: {% with uploads_for_user leader as upload_count %} {{ upload_count }} upload{{ upload_count|pluralize }} {% endwith %} However, uploads_for_user leader doesn't work in this context, because the 'with' tag expects a single value - Django returns: TemplateSyntaxError at /upload/ u'with' expected format is 'value as name' Any idea how I can get round this?

  • Always-indexed MySQL indexing/searching replacements for InnoDB?

    - by Chad Johnson
I am using InnoDB for a MySQL table, and obviously queries using LIKE and RLIKE/REGEXP can take a lot of time. I've tried Spinx, and it works great, except I have to re-index context at intervals. I can re-index every minute, but I am wondering if there is either 1) a setting in Sphinx to keep records always indexed or 2) other software besides Sphinx that will keep records always indexed. I want it where that immediately upon inserting or updating a record, the index is updated.

  • Is web-browser to Excel interprocess communication possible

    - by Abiel
Is is possible to write a browser plugin (one that requires the user to install something is OK) that would allow interprocess communication between the browser and a running instance of Excel (on Windows)? For example, suppose I want the user to be able to click something within their browser, and then have a piece of text drop into the selected cell in Excel as a result. This is certainly possible to do with a regular desktop application and Excel, but I'm not sure if it is possible with a browser, for security reasons.

  • Casting between variant and bstr_t causing inconsisten crash in Windows 2008

    - by user58470
We have a C# application, calling a simple C++ wrapper class, that then calls an existing C++ DLL. The C++ code is all VC++ 6.0. We are getting inconsistent behaviour, but the crash, when it happens, always happens within the C++ wrapper DLL, and always in the same spot (have confirmed using painful logging statements). It never happens on any environment except on Windows 2008, so we suspect some bad-but-not-fatal memory trashing is going on that somehow Windows 2008 is being more mindful of. Here's the relevant code, if anyone has any ideas on why this might be crashing it would be much appreciated. We've been tearing our hair out for a few days and project timelines are slipping all for the want of being able to return a simple string back to C#... I've been told we've tried setting the VARIANT vresult using VariantInit, and clearing it when we are done with VariantClear, but that didn't help. // JobMgrDll.cpp : Defines the entry point for the DLL application. // #include "stdafx.h" #include "JobMgrDll.h" #include "jobmgr.h" CString gcontext; CString guser; CString ghost; CString glog; JOBMGRDLL_API int nJobMgrDll=0; extern "C" JOBMGRDLL_API char* perform_billcalc(char* cmd, char* context, char* user, char* host,BSTR* log, int* loglen) { char* result = new char[1000]; memset(result,0,999); result[999] = '\0'; bstr_t bt_command = cmd; UUID uuid = __uuidof(BRLib::Rules); VARIANT vresult; char *p_rv; gcontext = context; guser = user; ghost = host; write_log("execute_job"); p_rv = execute_job(uuid, "none", bt_command, &vresult); write_log("DONE execute_job"); CString message; write_log ("Intializing bstr_t with variant"); // WE ALWAYS GET HERE bstr_t res(vresult); //message.Format("%s result = %s",p_rv,res); //write_log(message); write_log("copying Result"); // WE DON'T ALWAYS GET HERE, BUT SOMETIMES WE DO strcpy(result,(char*)res); write_log(CString(result)); *loglen = glog.GetLength(); *log = glog.AllocSysString(); return result; } Again, any ideas much, much appreciated.

  • ajax cross-domain requests

    - by yoda
Hi, Since Ajax requests are limited for security reasons, there's not much to it, just follow the rules eh .. but I've crossed with this : https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Same_origin_policy_for_JavaScript It's written that you can "bypass" those rules, in case you're working with subdomains of the same domain, with the following javascript line : document.domain = "company.com"; I haven't tried it yet, since I don't know if this only works (perfectly works) with any other browser, or at least the major ones. Is it possible? Thanks.

  • Detect if Visual Studio Test is running

    - by RTigger
Is there an easy way to detect if you're running in the context of a Visual Studio Test as opposed to debug or release? Here's the scenario - we have a factory class that we use heavily throughout our existing codebase, and I figured instead of refactoring it out in each class so we can substitute the default factory with one that would return mock/fake objects, I could add something in the factory class itself to return those mock objects if it detects it's running in "test" mode.

  • JPanels, JFrames, and Windows, Oh my!

    - by Jonathan
Simply stated, I am trying to make a game I am working on full-screen. I have the following code I am trying to use: GraphicsEnvironment ge = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment(); GraphicsDevice gs = ge.getDefaultScreenDevice(); if(!gs.isFullScreenSupported()) { System.out.println("full-screen not supported"); } Frame frame = new Frame(gs.getDefaultConfiguration()); Window win = new Window(frame); try { // Enter full-screen mode gs.setFullScreenWindow(win); win.validate(); } Problem with this is that I am working within a class that extends JPanel, and while I have a variable of type Frame, I have none of type Window within the class. My understanding of JPanel is that it is a Window of sorts, but I cannot pass 'this' into gs.setFullScreenWindow(Window win)... How should I go about doing this? Is there any easy way of calling that, or a similar method, using a JPanel? Is there a way I can get something of type Window from my JPanel? - EDIT: The following method changes the state of JFrame and is called every 10ms: public void paintScreen() { Graphics g; try{ g = this.getGraphics(); //get Panel's graphic context if(g == null) { frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setExtendedState(frame.getExtendedState()|JFrame.MAXIMIZED_BOTH); frame.add(this); frame.pack(); frame.setResizable(false); frame.setTitle("Game Window"); frame.setVisible(true); } if((g != null) && (dbImage != null)) { g.drawImage(dbImage, 0, 0, null); } Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().sync(); //sync the display on some systems g.dispose(); } catch (Exception e) { if(blockError) { blockError = false; } else { System.out.println("Graphics context error: " + e); } } } I anticipate that there may be a few redundancies or unnecessary calls after the if(g==null) statement (all the frame.somethingOrOther()s), any cleanup advice would be appreciated... Also, the block error is what it seems. I am ignoring an error. The error only occurs once, and this works fine when setup to ignore the first instance of the error... For anyone interested I can post additional info there if anyone wants to see if that block can be removed, but i'm not concerned... I might look into it later.

  • Why is FF on OS X loosing jQuery-UI in click event handler?

    - by Jean-François Beauchamp
In a web page using jQUery 1.7.1 and jQUery-UI 1.8.18, if I output $.ui in an alert box when the document is ready, I get [object Object]. However when using Firefox, if I output $.ui in a click event handler, I get 'undefined' as result. With other browsers (latest versions of IE, Chrome and Safari), the result is still [object Object] when clicking on the link. Here is my HTML Page: <!doctype html> <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="Scripts/jquery-1.7.1.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="Scripts/jquery-ui-1.8.18.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { alert($.ui); // ALERT A $(document).on("click", ".dialogLink", function () { alert($.ui); // ALERT B return false; }); }); </script> </head> <body> <a href="#" class="dialogLink">Click me!</a> </body> </html> In this post, I reduced to its simplest form another problem I was having described here: $(this).dialog is not a function. I created a new post for the sake of clarity, since the real question is different from the original one now that pin-pointed where the problem resided. UPDATE: IF I replace my alerts with simply alert($); I get this result for alert A: function (selector, context) { return new jQuery.fn.init(selector, context, rootjQuery); } and this one for alert B: function (a, b) { return new d.fn.init(a, b, g); } This does not make sense to me, although I may not be understanding well enough what $ is... UPDATE 2: I can only reproduce this problem using Firefox on OS X. On Firefox running on Windows 7, everything is fine.
