  I am trying to make my first app for sale, I would like to ask some questions for those who have already sold their software: Have you used a Framework/Lib whose LGPL License? if yes, what are the impressions of your customers? for example, if your customers/ competitors from the market reveal technology/secrets that you used in your solution (as LGPL requires that you make a Dynamic Link (.DLL) for your libs and you clearly tell the use of a Lib/Framework). Full story: For my project, I used a framework LGPL/commercial (Dual License) the second one it was too expensive (about 3000 USD) which pushed me to use LGPL however I still concerned. That is why I ask for advise and especially motivations.

  Earlier this week we asked you to share your telecommuting/work-from-home productivity tips. Now we’re back with a tips and tricks roundup; read on to see how your fellow readers stay focused at home. By far and away the most common technique deployed as carefully isolating work from home life. Carol writes: I love working from home and have done so for 6 years now. I have a routine just as if I was going to an office, except my commute is 12 steps. I get ready for work, grab my purse and smart phone and go to up the steps to my office. I maintain a separate phone line and voice mail for work that I cannot answer from anywhere but my work desk. I use call forwarding when I travel so only my office phone number is published. I have VOIP phone service so I can forward calls from the internet if I forget, or need to change where the phone is forwarded. I do have a wired and wireless head set so I can go get a cold drink if on one of those long boring conference calls. I plan my ‘get off from work’ time and try to stick to it, as with any job some days I am late getting off, but it all works out. I make sure my office is for work only, any other computer play time is in a different part of the house on different computer. My office has laptop, dock, couple of monitors, multipurpose printer, fax, scanner, file cabinets – just like the office at a company. I just also happen to have a couple of golden retrievers that come to work with me and usually lay quietly until 5, and yes they know it is 5pm sometimes before I do. For me, one of the biggest concerns when working from home is not being unproductive, but the danger of never stopping work. You could keep going and going because let’s face it – the company will let you do it, so I set myself up to prevent that and maintain a separateness.   My concern is about SEO. Now let me explain the scenario. I am making a 3 languages website. The development is alright, but I was targeting local customers with one domain, and international (english version) with another. Eg: Local http://www.minhalojadesapatos.com.br (this is not the real website, just example!) Other http://www.myshoesstore.com.br Both domain point to exactly the same hosting and content, but when user comes through local domain, default language is set to portuguese, otherwise, default is english. Language handling on backend uses PHP Sessions and cookies, so with just a click users can change content language. How to avoid being SEO-penalised in this context? (yeah, I was hungry when focusing market for choosing two domains but the activity really needs that, it is a travel agency).

• How much do they study in the best universities, relative to the other universities?

  In my university, our total required weekly attendance (for lectures and tutorials/similar) is about 12 hours. It was like that in the first year, and then everything required extremely little effort - I believe that if I invested as much efforts as someone who is studying for medicine or law, I could have learnt everything for 1-2 months - if not less! Now I'm second year and it doesn't look like it's going to be too different. This concerns me about the people who study in Oxford, Cambridge or Imperial College. It would be weird if they study that little, and it would be very concerning if they do study very hard, because this would mean that by the end of the year, their first year students will be better than our average third year student. Which is bad news for me, given that I share the market with them. I know the question can't have an absolutely accurate answer, but it can still be answered quite definitely, and it's relevant to many people.

• Why don't we have an "unofficial" software center with all the PPAs?

  Many questions are answered simply with add this repository and install. I understand that Ubuntu developers cannot quickly verify all packages and make them available in official repositories. But is there an unofficial main repository or software center where developers can register their PPAs? Adding individual repositories is a pain and the update also takes longer as it has to check all the PPAs. Like we have alternative markets for android, it would be great if there are any popular alternative software sources that we can reasonably trust.

And I'm always afraid of being replaced by the people cheaper and younger than me in the future. (I'm 26 now.. not too much time for playing..)   I have an experience in Java language and in JEE related Framework for about 5 years. In these 5 years i have worked on Core java, Spring, Hibernate, JPA, Struts 1. Now just to be prepared for the near future, i am thinking to learn some new programming language or some new technology, this will help me out to be a more elligible employee. So my question to you is, which new technology or language should i learn, my target is for next 3 years. So just in case if Java fades out (thought it won't) than i can jump on to this newly learned stuff. Where should i start from ? Should i learn some other language in JVM like Scala, Clojure, Groovy, JRuby ? Or should i learn some altogether different language like Python or Erlang, Perl ?
