  • How can I combine result and subquery for IN comparison (mysql)

    - by user325804
    In order for a school project i need to create the following situation within one mysql query. The situation is as such, that a child's tags and a parent's tags need to be combined into one, and compared to a site's tags, depending on a few extra simple equals to lines. For this to happen I only see the option that the result of a subquery is combined with a sub query within that query, as such: SELECT tag.*, (SELECT group_concat(t1.id, ',', (SELECT group_concat(tag.id) FROM adcampaign INNER JOIN adcampaign_tag ON adcampaign.id = adcampaign_tag.adcampaign_id INNER JOIN tag ON adcampaign_tag.tag_id = tag.id WHERE adcampaign.id = 1)) FROM ad, ad_tag, tag AS t1 WHERE ad.id = ad_tag.ad_id AND ad_tag.tag_id = t1.id AND ad.adcampaign_id = 1 AND ad.agecategory_id = 1 AND ad.adsize_id = 1 AND ad.adtype_id = 1) as tags FROM tag WHERE tag.id IN tags But the IN comparison only returns the first result because now the tags aren't a list but a concanated string. Anyone got any suggestion on this? I really need a way to combine it into one array

  • Find common nodes from two linked lists using recursion

    - by Dan
    I have to write a method that returns a linked list with all the nodes that are common to two linked lists using recursion, without loops. For example, first list is 2 - 5 - 7 - 10 second list is 2 - 4 - 8 - 10 the list that would be returned is 2 - 10 I am getting nowhere with this.. What I have been think of was to check each value of the first list with each value of the second list recursively but the second list would then be cut by one node everytime and I cannot compare the next value in the first list with the the second list. I hope this makes sense... Can anyone help?

  • VB.net Network Graph code/algorithm

    - by Jens
    For a school project we need to visualise a computer network graph. The number of computers with specific properties are read from an XML file, and then a graph should be created. Ad random computers are added and removed. Is there any open source project or algorithm that could help us visualising this in VB.net? Or would you suggest us to switch to java. Update: We eventually switched java and used the Jung libraries because this was easier for us to understand and implement.

  • Simplest way of creating java next/previous buttons

    - by Holly
    I know that when creating buttons, like next and previous, that the code can be somewhat long to get those buttons to function. My professor gave us this example to create the next button: private void jbtnNext_Click() { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Next" ,"Button Pressed", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE); try { if (rset.next()) { fillTextFields(false); }else{ //Display result in a dialog box JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Not found"); } } catch (SQLException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } Though, I do not really understand how that short and simple if statement is what makes the next button function. I see that the fillTextFields(false) uses a boolean value and that you need to initialize that boolean value in the beginning of the code I believe. I had put private fillTextFields boolean = false; but this does not seem to be right... I'm just hoping someone could explain it better. Thanks :)

  • How can I log into gmail in a script/program using HTTPS?

    - by master chief
    My teacher has given me as an assignment to log into gmail and then send one e-mail or read the list of unread e-mails, but I can't use IMAP/POP3/SMTP or anything that isn't HTTP or HTTPS. I've tried looking for libraries in Ruby/Java to do it but nothing really worked for me. I tried looking at the gmail source code page but I couldn't really understand what was going on. The page seems to call a post method on a link, but sniffing the packets what I saw was a GET apparently using a session generated using the info I send. So sending it "raw" didn't work either. I've no idea what to do now.

  • Array inside of Arrays; Java (Help with Lab Assignment)

    - by Adam
    We are working on a lab assignment for my CS&E class and I think I can ask this question without going into detail of the entire lab requirements, but is it possible for an array to be inside of an array? For example, would this work: int [] arrayOne = new int[3]; arrayOne[0] = Start of an array If this is possible how do you go about doing it?

  • Challenging question find if there is an element repeating himself n/k times

    - by gleb-pendler
    here how it's goes: You have an array size n and a constant k (whatever) you can assume the the array of int type tho it kind be of whatever type but just for the clearane let assume it's an integer. Describe an algorithm that finds if there is an element/s that repeat itself at least n/k times... if there is return one - do it in linear time running O(n) Imortent: now the catch do this algorithm or even pseuo-code using a constant usage of memory and running over the array only TWICE!!!

  • Why is my panel not positioned correctly even after setting the boundaries?

    - by nutellafella
    I'm trying to make a simple GUI with radio buttons and I grouped them into one panel. I wanted it positioned on the leftmost side so I used the setBounds method. Whatever numbers I put on the parameters, the panel won't move. Are panels not affected by the setBounds method? Or is there another way to position my panel. Here's the snippet of my code: JPanel radioPanel = new JPanel(); radioPanel.setLayout(new GridLayout(3,1)); JRadioButton Rbutton1 = new JRadioButton("Credit Card"); JRadioButton Rbutton2 = new JRadioButton("E-Funds"); JRadioButton Rbutton3 = new JRadioButton("Check"); Rbutton3.setSelected(true); ButtonGroup Bgroup = new ButtonGroup(); Bgroup.add(Rbutton1); Bgroup.add(Rbutton2); Bgroup.add(Rbutton3); radioPanel.add(Rbutton1); radioPanel.add(Rbutton2); radioPanel.add(Rbutton3); radioPanel.setBounds(10,50,50,40); //this is where I'm trying to position the panel with the radio buttons paymentPanel.add(radioPanel); contentPane.add(paymentPanel); //contentPane is the frame contentPane.setVisible(true);

  • C++ Greatest Number Verification

    - by Daniel
    Hey guys, I was assigned to create a program that creates n arrays composed by 10 random integers. The the program should sum all the integers and display the result. After, it has to verify which of the sums is the greatest and it has to display that array and the result. Im having troubles getting it done and would like to get some help! Thanks once again. Here is my code so far: #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> #include <cmath> using namespace std; double random(unsigned int &seed); unsigned int seed = 5; void generateData(int set[10]); int sumData(int set[10]); void checkData(int sumResult, int arrayNumber); int main (int argc, char * const argv[]) { int arrayNumber, sumResult; int set[10]; do { cout << "Number of Arrays to Compare: " << endl; cin >> arrayNumber; } while (arrayNumber < 0); for (int i = 0; i < arrayNumber; ++i) { generateData(set); sumResult = sumData(set); cout << "Sum --> " << sumResult << endl; checkData(sumResult, arrayNumber); } return 0; } double random(unsigned int &seed) { const int MODULUS = 15749; const int MULTIPLIER = 69069; const int INCREMENT = 1; seed = ((MULTIPLIER * seed) + INCREMENT) % MODULUS; return double(seed) / double(MODULUS); } void generateData(int set[10]) { for (int i = 0; i < 10; ++i) { set[i] = int (5 + 6 * random(seed)); cout << set[i] << " || "; } } int sumData(int set[10]) { int sumTotal = 0; for (int i = 0; i < 10; ++i) sumTotal = sumTotal + set[i]; return sumTotal; } void checkData(int sumResult, int arrayNumber) { int largerNumber; int tempSet[2]; for (int i = 0; i < arrayNumber; ++i) { if (sumResult > largerNumber) { tempSet[i] = sumResult; } } }

  • Optimally reducing maximum flow

    - by ArIck
    Given a parameter k, I'm trying to delete k edges from a directed graph such that the maximum flow is reduced by as much as possible. The graph has a source s and a sink t, and the capacity of each edge is one. The graph may or may not contain cycles. My proposed solution would be to first perform a topological sorting on the graph, using an algorithm that "forgives" cycles -- perhaps by ignoring edges that lead us back to the source. Then (assuming k = 1): i = 0 for each vertex u order by topological(u) for each edge (u, v) order by topological(v) descending if topological(v) > topological(u) then delete (u, v) if ++i = k then return else // edge doesn't contribute to max flow, ignore Would this work, or am I totally off-track here?

  • Breadth first search all paths

    - by Amndeep7
    First of all, thank you for looking at this question. For a school assignment we're supposed to create a BFS algorithm and use it to do various things. One of these things is that we're supposed to find all of the paths between the root and the goal nodes of a graph. I have no idea how to do this as I can't find a way to keep track of all of the alternate routes without also including copies/cycles. Here is my BFS code: def makePath(predecessors, last): return makePath(predecessors, predecessors[last]) + [last] if last else [] def BFS1b(node, goal): Q = [node] predecessor = {node:None} while Q: current = Q.pop(0) if current[0] == goal: return makePath(predecessor, goal) for subnode in graph[current[0]][2:]: if subnode[0] not in predecessor: predecessor[subnode[0]] = current[0] Q.append(subnode[0]) A conceptual push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. tl;dr How do I use BFS to find all of the paths between two nodes?

  • match strings in python

    - by mesun
    Write a function, called constrainedMatchPair which takes three arguments: a tuple representing starting points for the first substring, a tuple representing starting points for the second substring, and the length of the first substring. The function should return a tuple of all members (call it n) of the first tuple for which there is an element in the second tuple (call it k) such that n+m+1 = k, where m is the length of the first substring. Complete the definition def constrainedMatchPair(firstMatch,secondMatch,length):

  • Choosing design method for ladder-like word game.

    - by owca
    I'm trying to build a simple application, with the finished program looking like this : I will also have to implement two different GUI layouts for this. Now I'm trying to figure out the best method to perform this task. My professor told me to introduce Element class with 4 states : - empty - invisible (used in GridLayout) - first letter - other letter I've thought about following solutions (by List I mean any sort of Collection) : 1. Element is a single letter, and each line is Element[]. Game class will be array of arrays Element[]. I guess that's the dumbest way, and the validation might be troublesome. 2. Like previously but Line is a List of Element. Game is an array of Lines. 3. Like previously but Game is a List of Lines. Which one should I choose ? Or maybe do you have better ideas ? What collection would be best if to use one ?

  • Strange problem with simple multithreading program in Java

    - by Elizabeth
    Hello, I am just starting play with multithreading programming. I would like to my program show alternately character '-' and '+' but it doesn't. My task is to use synchronized keyword. As far I have: class FunnyStringGenerator{ private char c; public FunnyStringGenerator(){ c = '-'; } public synchronized char next(){ if(c == '-'){ c = '+'; } else{ c = '-'; } return c; } } class ThreadToGenerateStr implements Runnable{ FunnyStringGenerator gen; public ThreadToGenerateStr(FunnyStringGenerator fsg){ gen = fsg; } @Override public void run() { for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++){ System.out.print(gen.next()); } } } public class Main{ public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { FunnyStringGenerator FSG = new FunnyStringGenerator(); ExecutorService exec = Executors.newCachedThreadPool(); for(int i = 0; i < 20; i++){ exec.execute(new ThreadToGenerateStr(FSG)); } } } EDIT: I also testing Thread.sleep in run method instead for loop.

  • Using sigprocmask to implement locks

    - by EpsilonVector
    I'm implementing user threads in Linux kernel 2.4, and I'm using ualarm to invoke context switches between the threads. We have a requirement that our thread library's functions should be uninterruptable, so I looked into blocking signals and learned that using sigprocmask is the standard way to do this. However, it looks like I need to do quite a lot to implement this: sigset_t new_set, old_set; sigemptyset(&new_set); sigaddset(&new_set, SIGALRM); sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, &new_set, &old_set); This blocks SIGALARM but it does this with 3 function invocations! A lot can happen in the time it takes for these functions to run, including the signal being sent. The best idea I had to mitigate this was temporarily disabling ualarm, like this: sigset_t new_set, old_set; time=ualarm(0,0); sigemptyset(&new_set); sigaddset(&new_set, SIGALRM); sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, &new_set, &old_set); ualarm(time, 0); Which is fine except that this feels verbose. Isn't there a better way to do this?

  • How to create a simple Proxy to access web servers in C

    - by jesusiniesta
    Hi. I’m trying to create an small Web Proxy in C. First, I’m trying to get a webpage, sending a GET frame to the server. I don’t know what I have missed, but I am not receiving any response. I would really appreciate if you can help me to find what is missing in this code. int main (int argc, char** argv) { int cache_size, //size of the cache in KiB port, port_google = 80, dir, mySocket, socket_google; char google[] = "www.google.es", ip[16]; struct sockaddr_in socketAddr; char buffer[10000000]; if (GetParameters(argc,argv,&cache_size,&port) != 0) return -1; GetIP (google, ip); printf("ip2 = %s\n",ip); dir = inet_addr (ip); printf("ip3 = %i\n",dir); /* Creation of a socket with Google */ socket_google = conectClient (port_google, dir, &socketAddr); if (socket_google < 0) return -1; else printf("Socket created\n"); sprintf(buffer,"GET /index.html HTTP/1.1\r\n\r\n"); if (write(socket_google, (void*)buffer, LONGITUD_MSJ+1) < 0 ) return 1; else printf("GET frame sent\n"); strcpy(buffer,"\n"); read(socket_google, buffer, sizeof(buffer)); // strcpy(message,buffer); printf("%s\n", buffer); return 0; } And this is the code I use to create the socket. I think this part is OK, but I copy it just in case. int conectClient (int puerto, int direccion, struct sockaddr_in *socketAddr) { int mySocket; char error[1000]; if ( (mySocket = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0)) == -1) { printf("Error when creating the socket\n"); return -2; } socketAddr->sin_family = AF_INET; socketAddr->sin_addr.s_addr = direccion; socketAddr->sin_port = htons(puerto); if (connect (mySocket, (struct sockaddr *)socketAddr,sizeof (*socketAddr)) == -1) { snprintf(error, sizeof(error), "Error in %s:%d\n", __FILE__, __LINE__); perror(error); printf("%s\n",error); printf ("-- Error when stablishing a connection\n"); return -1; } return mySocket; } Thanks!
