• Adding controls dynamically at design time vb.net

  I have been developing some custom smart tags. I am using a DesignerActionMethodItem which gets me to a fired method in code. When I try to hit the controls.Add the control is added but it seems the designer is unaware of it. It is never serialized and it goes away when the form is refreshed in the designer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am sort of stuck and google hasn't helped me. Please don't send me anything about smart tags that has nothing to do with adding controls dynamically at design time, I have already read so many looking for this.

• Visual Studio 2010 Formatting

  I have plenty of experience with Eclipse, and now I'm trying out Visual Studio 2010. I find its formatting somewhat counter-intuitive. Here are some things I'm trying to figure out: Is there a way to select all text and format/indent it properly, like SHIFT+A SHIFT+I in Eclipse? Why is it that when I type a line like if (n == 0) {, as soon as I type the opening brace, the text cursor is moved to the beginning of the line? Is this some productivity speedup I'm failing to see? When I hit ENTER after the aforementioned line, I'd like the closing brace to be put in place automatically for me. How can I do this? I've looked for hotkey documentation, and it's helped a bit, but this still feels clunky to me.

• getResourceAsStream not loading resource in webapp

  I have a web application that uses a library which resides in TOMCAT_HOME/common/lib. This library looks for a properties file at the root of the classpath (in a class called ApplicationConfig): ApplicationConfig.class.getResourceAsStream("/hv-application.properties"); My Tomcat web application contains this properties file. It is in WEB-INF/classes, which is the root of the classpath right? However, at runtime, when it tries to load the properties file, it throws an exception because it can't find it (getResourceAsStream returns null). Everything works fine if my application is a simple, standalone Java application. Does Tomcat cause the getResourceAsStream method to act differently? I know there's a lot of similar questions out there, but none of them have helped unfortunately. Thanks.

  Hi! I gotta say that this site is really great because it helped me a lot at my job. I'm mostly the one asking the questions rather than answering it. Now I'd like to know what's your motivation to help others of whom you only know their nicknames? Because contrary to other communities on the Internet, this site lacks things like a message board where you can talk about all things in life or a function for private messaging. And in my opinion these two things normally help in building kind of a "social" environment. Also stackoverflow has probably lot's of users and is therefore not that tight-knitted. Maybe you can share some your thoughts with me.

• How do I use SDl_Threads properly?

  I am new to threads,SDL and how graphic work in general. I've been looking through all of LazyFoo's SDL tutorials, and had helped me greatly. But in his tutorials about multi threading, he commented that you should never use video functions in separate threads, or might cause problem. I am curious how it should be done, as I still have a vague understanding of graphics and threads. As one of my projects is a shoot'em up, I was wondering if I should create one thread that displays all the graphics, one threads receives all the player input for his ship, and another thread for the enemy AI. If this is NOT how it should be done, (I think it's wrong) does anyone have any advice of how graphics should be implemented with user input and enemy AI with threads?   I want to select and group the products, and rank them by the number of times they occur. For example, I have an OrderList each of order object has a OrderProductVariantList(OrderLineList), and each of OrderProductVariant object has ProductVariant, and then the ProductVariant object will have a Product object which contains product information. A friend helped me with the following code. It could be compiled, but it did not return any value/result. • Convert string to integer and multiply two integers

  I have a big time trying to either convert a string into a integer or multiply two integers. I can't convert the string into integer because it's resulting me into a boolean (when I'm using var_dump). I can convert the other integer in string, but I'm unable to multiply it. I have this: <? $fees=$commerce->cart->get_total(); $payfee = str_replace('&nbsp;&euro;', '', $fees); $payfee = str_replace(',','', $payfee); //this is the string $fee = 0.025; $paypal = $payfee * $fee; //this thing is not working ?> I tried converting the payfee in integer, but still can't make it work.   I like Steve Sanderson's "Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework" book. It helped me a lot. I have been waiting for its new edition and it is ready now, as we can see in this Steve's blog post It is updated a lot taking into account all new features of ASP.NET MVC 2, .NET 4 and Visual Studio 2010. In addition, "SportsStore" tutorial of this edition uses Ninject instead of first edition's Castle Windsor for DI. I wonder, why? Does it mean that Castle Windsor became a little outdated?

• Django admin output extra HTML in ModelSite

  Ultimately, I want to add an <iframe> to the display of a particular model on Django's admin page. Django is already rendering the form for this model correctly, but I want to add this <iframe> in addition to Django's form. The src attribute needs to involve the primary key for the currently-displayed record. I've learned how to properly override the change_form.html template through Django's documentation, and I can add markup to the right block, but I can't figure out how to access the primary key value. (No amount of determined Googling has helped at all.) Alternatively, is there a direct way to specify that I want to produce extra output in my ModelSite definition?

• getting 502 proxy error while parsing

  Iam parsing a page and im getting response from that but after some time i.e. after some of the parsing gets done i get this error from the server - Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request GET /file.php. Reason: Error reading from remote server and after this my parsing fails. I even tried sleep() function but it didnt helped and the error still came. Are they temporarily blocking my ip or what?? What could be the reason for this and how can i parse those pages without getting this error and all ???

Unfortunately, I get the following error message: The FOR ATTACH option requires that at least the primary file be specified. An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:\....\*.mdf A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share. I looked for this error on google but didn't find anything that helped me solve my problem. Any idea? Thank you

  Hi, I'm using ListView to display images which I provide through an ImageAdapter class. it works great on my device (and on many other devices which I tested it on), but somehow when I'm using the emulator and I'm long-pressing the up/down button - I'm getting an outOfMemory error after 10-15 seconds. I tried clearing cache, canceling cache, etc. - nothing helped. I know this crash is pretty rare (i couldn't reproduced it on any "real" device), but I can see on DDMS that "GC freed" are getting bigger during that long press and I can't find a way to clear them. Any help will be appreciated, Tnx.

  Hi, I want to use Christian Bach's tableSorter client-side table sorting jQuery plugin with my asp.Net GridView control. But the problem is, in the documentation it writes: tablesorter works on standard HTML tables. You must include THEAD and TBODY tags: And unfortunately asp.net renders my GridView only with tags and header row stays within as the 1st row. I have tried: dgvRate.HeaderRow.TableSection = TableRowSection.TableHeader; after calling .DataBind(); It only helped to have <TH></TH> within the header . But still everything is inside <tbody> Can I accomplish this, I mean moving my 1st row from <tbody></tbody> to <thead></thead> ? I do not want to add it manually on PreRender stage; I am sure this could be handled much simpler, isn't it? thanks

• Qt4.6: QTextDocument <HR> tag prints only very thin, almost invisible hair lines

  When printing a QTextDocument with doc->print() I almost cannot see the horizontal rules inserted by <hr>. When printing to PDF these are clearly visible. But when printed to a printer these lines are very very thin lines, almost invisible on the paper. How do I fix this? I currently helped myself by inserting an <img> with a black pixel but this is very cumbersome as I have to exactly figure out the proper pixel width by trial and error.

  I learned Python OOP at school. My (good in theory, bad in practice) informatics told us about how good OOP was for any purpose; Even/Especially for large projects. Now I don't have any experience with teamwork in software development (what a pity, I'd like to program in a team) and I don't know anything about scaling and large projects either. Since some time I'm reading more and more about that object-oriented programming has (many) disadvantages when it comes to really big and important projects/systems. I got a bit confused by that as I always thought that OOP helped you keep large amounts of code clean and structured. Now why should OOP be problematic in large projects? If it is, what would be better? Functional, Declarative/Imperative?

Now, when I try to create a file using this code : FileStream os = new FileStream(String.Format(folderName, fileName), FileMode.Create); I get Access to filepath is denied. In the service Installer I set the following parameters to : this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Account = System.ServiceProcess.ServiceAccount.LocalSystem; this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Password = "Pass"; this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Username = "Administrator" I added all the possible accounts with Full permissions to the folder where I want to create the file but nothing helped. • jQuery Upload Progress Plugin Not working in Chrome and Safari

  I am using the jquery.uploadprogress plugin to get the upload progress of a file from the NginxHttpUploadProgressModule. This is inside an iframe for a facebook application. It works in firefox, but it fails in chrome/safari. When I open the console I get this. Uncaught ReferenceError: progressFrame is not defined jquery.uploadprogress.js:80 Any idea how I would fix that? I would like to also send the file using AJAX when it is completed. How would I implement that? EDIT: I need this soon and it is important so I am going to put a 100 point bounty on this question. The first person to answer it will receive the 100 points. • Restoring Sharepoint content database

  Hi, My WSS_Content database had got corrupt. And my pc was infected by virus. I had no backup of my WSS_Content database. So, I copied the corrupt database to a separete disk, formatted and reinstalled Sharepoint, with SQL Server 2005 as before (I'm using sharepoint 2007 ). I used Sytools Sharepoint Recovery tool, that i found on the net, which helped me restore my corrupt WSS_Content database. Now i want to set this content database as my "The content database" for my newly installed sharepoint. I tried the steps that i found in the link :- http://www.stationcomputing.com/scblogspace/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40 I get stuck at step 3. Can anybody help me. I am really in a big mess. • Multiple classes in body tag, multi-dimensional css structure or blueprint for insanity?

  This question is about an approach to css structuring, and so is more discussion oriented. I'm working with some outsourced css where the body tags have multiple classes assigned, up to half a dozen. (To make things a little worse, none of the css selectors include an html tag which is making it confusing to analyze the css.) These body classes are then used to modify classed or id'd widgets within. It seems like this approach is like adding an additional dimension to the css, perhaps in some attempt to create a structured css approach. Documentation might have helped, had we been provided any. This differs from my approach where widgets are styled primarily via id'd divs, perhaps extracting the more generic elements into a class, i.e. div#MyWidget.widgets. Any ideas on whether such an approach is maintainable, especially considering I am dealing with websites with thousands of pages including tons of legacy stuff, all done by different people with different skill levels? • Download office document without the web server trying to render it

  I'm trying to download an InfoPath template that's hosted on SharePoint. If I hit the url in internet explorer it asks me where to save it and I get the correct file on my disk. If I try to do this programmatically with WebClient or HttpWebRequest then I get HTML back instead. How can I make my request so that the web server returns the actual xsn file and doesn't try to render it in html. If internet explorer can do this then it's logical to think that I can too. I've tried setting the Accept property of the request to application/x-microsoft-InfoPathFormTemplate but that hasn't helped. It was a shot in the dark.

  VB.NET: Can the .EXE built by VS2005 be deployed as a standalone EXE? When I change the mode in VS2005 to "Release" and build the solution, the bin\Release directory then contains the solution .EXE file, but also a .pdb, vshost.exe and .xml file. What are these extra files and are they necessary? I copied the .exe file to another machine and it executed properly, but there was a significant delay when it first executed - thereafter it was like any other program. What is the reason for this, and can it be helped? Is it because the other 3 files in the Release folder are not there with it?

  Hello, I am at the end of my knowledge and googled for the answer too but no luck :/ Week ago everything worked well. I did a revert on the repository, recreated the tableadapter etc... nothing helped. When I try to save in my application I get an SystemInvalidCastException at this point: PersonListDataSet.cs: partial class P_GroupTableAdapter { public int Update(PersonListDataSet.P_GroupDataTable dataTable, string userId) { this.Adapter.InsertCommand.Parameters["@userId"].Value = userId; this.Adapter.DeleteCommand.Parameters["@userId"].Value = userId; this.Adapter.UpdateCommand.Parameters["@userId"].Value = userId; return this.Update(dataTable); **<-- Exception occurs here** } } Everything is stuck here because a Guid - and I checked the datatable preview with the magnifier tool its really a true Guid in the column of the datatable - can not be converted to a string ??? How can that happen?
