    I am trying to pick out the optimal set of colors for a new website project. I want to do a traditional black on white look and feel for the main content. However my partner on the project wants to do a color combination that more looks like the traditional Windows Forms look and feel. Is there any research available on the best color combination's to use for readability, ease of use, and reduced eye strain?

  • Any good tutorials on using OAuth with Piston?

    I've looked at the relevant section of the Piston documentation, but it only seems to focus on how to turn it on, not what it would look like for clients or how to test it to verify it's working. However, there isn't anything I could find that explains which of the bugs apply to these different reporting levels.   • Unicode special characters - Dingbats - Appear differently in Firefox vs. Chrome/IE

    Hi there, I'm trying to find a way to make dingbats appear exactly the same in Firefox, Chrome, Safari and IE. I noticed that the Dingbats appear the same in IE/Chrome/Safari, HOWEVER - in Firefox - they look "thiner". For example - try to visit the following page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dingbat You'll notice that when viewing that page in Firefox - the characters look different in comparison to Chrome/IE. Does anybody know why and how can I cause Firefox to display the characters EXACTLY like they appear in Chrome/IE? Thx, Oren.

  • Pound symbol not displaying on web page

    Hello I have a mysql database table to store country name and currency symbol - the CHARSET has correctly set to UTF8. This is example data inserted into the table insert into country ( country_name, currency_name, currency_code, currency_symbol) values ('UK','Pounds','GBP','£'); When I look in the database - the pound symbol appears fine - but when I retrieve it from the database and display it on the website - a weird square symbol shows up with a question mark inside instead of the pound symbol.   • CSS Extra Small Spacing

    http://www.dougymak.com/cnit133/hw8.part4.html So if you look at the tabs and look at hw2, you'll notice it has a little extra spacing that overlaps the spacing on the right. That's because wrapped the div in the <li>. You will notice the others not having it. I don't understand why is it making that extra little spacing after I wrap it. Just for the record, this is for CSS spacing which has nothing to do with the JS.

    Unlike the iPhone simulator, the Android emulator doesn't look like an Android device. If you have to create a screencast or promotional video of your Android application, the default skin of the emulator is no good. Is there any way to configure the emulator to look like an Android device? If you have dealt with this already, what other things do you recommend taking into account to record an emulator screencast? Not a programming question per se, but an useful question for Android developers.

    Is it possible to change the style of a WinForm border? I know that if the border is removed, it takes away the functionality to resize the program. Therefore is there a way to change the style of it? At the moment, I've removed the text from the border, set the "FormBorderStyle" to "SizableToolWindow" and set the "ControlBox" to false.   • What is the difference between PS1 and PROMPT_COMMAND

    While taking a look at this awesome thread I noticed that some examples use PS1="Blah Blah Blah" and some use PROMPT_COMMAND="Blah Blah Blah" (and some use both) when setting the prompt in a bash shell. What is the difference between the two?   • HTML/CSS: What should I use to define image height/width to make it resolution independent?

    I've read all over the Internet that I should not define fonts (or anything) with absolute pixel height/width/size and instead, use EM ... so that on higher resolution displays, my web site can scale appropriately. However, what do I use to define IMAGE height/width ... because images won't scale well (they look pixelated) UPDATE: To clarify, I'm not referring to page zoom. I'm referring to how to make my web application resolution independent so that it will look correct on higher DPI displays.
