• Acer aspire 5735z wireless not working after upgrade to 11.10

  I cant get my wifi card to work at all after upgrading to 11.10 Oneiric. I'm not sure where to start to fix this. Ive tried using the additional drivers tool but this shows that no additional drivers are needed. Before my upgrade I had a drivers working for the Rt2860 chipset.   After upgrading to Precise, I am required to run 'sudo dhclient eth0' in a terminal in order to get the internet to work. Everything worked perfectly fine on Oneiric, so It's really puzzling me. I'm thinking it could possibly be something with the kernel, but who knows.   I recently got a new PC which has a 64-bit Windows 7 installed. The current PC that I am using has a 32-bit Windows 7 installed. I would like to know if there is a software that can copy all my installed programs and files in the hard disk with the 32-bit Windows 7 PC and transfer it to the newer PC's hard disk which has a 64 bit version of Windows 7. This is essentially like "cloning" a hard disk but I would like to use a 64-bit OS in the target drive, instead of also using the 32-bit OS of the source drive. I would like to do this I can avoid reinstalling and reconfiguring my installed programs and files again on the new PC. If possible, I would like the new PC to work as it was in my previous PC, with the installed programs, configuration and files intact except that the OS is now 64-bit and the hard disk has a larger capacity. I have heard of programs that can clone a hard disk, but my concern is that the 32-bit Windows 7 OS will also be cloned to the new 64-bit PC. If it is not possible to transfer my installed programs and settings like the way I described, are there software that can make it easier to migrate my installed programs, their configurations and my files from a 32-bit Windows 7 PC to a 64-bit Windows 7 PC? Details: I have a SATA to USB connector/adapter to copy files in the current hard disk to the newer one. The two PCs are connected through LAN, so I can also transfer files through LAN.   We are under a heavy icmp flood attack. Tcpdump shows the result below. Altough we have blocked ICMP with iptables tcpdump still prints icmp packets.   I'd like to work offline (I'm flying to the US twice this month), to do this I need access to a linux development server. When I work from home I boot a VirtualBox VM and that acts as my dev server for the day (providing Apache, PHP & MySQL to run my server side code). However, I'd like to work with my VM when I'm not connected to a network. I have my Ubuntu VM guest set up with a bridge connection so it can serve HTTP and provide SSH access from inside my local network. I've tried to manually configure my network settings on both Mac OSX (the host) and Ubuntu (the guest) but I can't even ping my own NIC address (127.0.0.1 can, 192.168.21.x I can't) in OS X when I unplug the cable. • Visual Studio 2010 64-bit COM Interop Issue

  I am trying to add a VC6 COM DLL to our VS2010RC C# solution. The DLL was compiled with the VC6 tools to create an x86 version and was compiled with the VC7 Cross-platform tools to generate a VC7 DLL. The x86 version of the assembly works fine as long as the consuming C# project's platform is set to x86. It doesn't matter whether the x64 or the x86 version of the DLL is actually registered. It works with both. If the platform is set to 'Any CPU' I receive a BadImageFormatException on the load of the Interop.<name>.dll. As for the x64 version, I cannot even get the project to build. I receive the tlbimp error: TlbImp : error TI0000: A single valid machine type compatible with the input type library must be specified. Has anyone seen this issue? EDIT: I've done a lot more digging into this issue and think this may be a Visual Studio bug. I have a clean solution. I bring in my COM assembly with language agnostic 'Any CPU' selected. The process architecture of the resulting Interop DLL is x86 rather than MSIL. May have to make the Interop by hand for now to get this to work. If anyone has another suggestion let me know.

• Deployment Setup (.Net) - Search target machine -> Registry search (64 bit)

  I have a windows installer project which installs some software (winform, service, mce addin). During the installation I need to search the machine for a registry key. This is done with with the "Launch Condition" - "Add Registry Search" (Deployment Project). I have filled out all the properties right, and checked against the regestry that the value actually can be found. The problem is that the "Registry Search" searches in the x86 part of the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\...) although my system is a x64 and the deployment setup is also set to x64. Does anyone know how to force the "Registry Search" to search the x64 registry? Or know about a workaround? The weird thing about this, is that Registry setting in the deployment setup is writing to the right registry (x64). My idea is that the "Registry Search" program is only developed to the x86 architecture, and therefore can't read the right registry.   I have a wizard with 4 steps and in one of the steps, you can add items. By default, there are 3 time 5 empty input-fields listed. When you click a button, there have to be added some more. The 3 times 5 fields are added by a loop. How can I determine where I have to add some fields (in the first 5 field of the second or the third). I can't use another name for every button, because sometimes there can be more then 3 groups of 5 fields. In my code (PHP), I use the name of the button to know what happened in the form, so the name can't be different for the button in every group ... Further, the whole step is 1 form, so the post can't go to another script ... The value of the button has to be the same for every group. I've been thinking on possible solutions and these came up: On click a javascript adds a value to the post (in a hidden field?) But is this posted with the form?   I'm looking for a very simple way of determining if the version of Windows the customer is using is 32bit or 64bit. I know there are ways using .NEt but I'm looking to avoid them. I simply want to use something similar the below pseudo code and want to know if this method can be reliable. If Registry Key exists (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node) Then Assume 64bit else Assume 32bit Thanks! EDIT: To be more specific, I know there a several different ways to accomplish the goal of finding out if the OS is 32 or 64bit. But I want to know if the above alone method would be reliable.

• C#: Access 32-bit/64-bit DLL depending on platform

  Hi, we use a self-written 32bit C++ DLL from our C# applications. Now we've noticed that when the C# applications are run on a 64bit system, the 64bit runtime is automatically used and of course the 32bit DLL can not be accessed from the 64bit runtime. My question is: is there a way of using the 32bit DLL? If not, if I created a 64bit version of the DLL, would it be easily possible to let the application choose which one to P/Invoke to? I'm thinking of creating two helper classes in C#: One that imports the functions from the 32bit DLL and one that imports from the 64bit DLL, then creating a wrapper class with one function for each imported function that calls either the 32bit importer or the 64bit importer depending on the "bittyness" of the OS. Would that work? Or is there another easy way to do things?

• Python subprocess: 64 bit windows server PIPE doesn't exist :(

  I have a GUI that launches selected python scripts and runs it in cmd next to the gui window. I am able to get my launcher to work on my (windows xp 32 bit) laptop but when I upload it to the server(64bit windows iss7) I am running into some issues. The script runs, to my knowledge but spits back no information into the cmd window. My script is a bit of a Frankenstein that I have hacked and slashed together to get it to work I am fairly certain that this is a very bad example of the subprocess module. Just wondering if i could get a hand :).
