  • Can 32-bit print drivers work on 64-bit windows?

    - by Matt
I'm reading around and it seems that 32 bit drivers do not work under 64 bit windows. Is this true? since 32-bit applications can run under 64 bit windows it seems ridiculous that 32-bit printer drivers cannot. Are printer drivers run at the kernel level? Sounds like we're in for driver hell for our RDP environments.

  • How can install scripts determine which are the correct equivalents for /usr/lib for 32- and 64-bit libraries?

    - by Randalli
I have an SDK that must install 32-bit and 64-bit files in the correct places under /usr/lib for a variety of Linux distributions. For example, it appears that for Fedora, /usr/lib64 is the 64bit lib, but for Debian based systems, /usr/lib is the 64bit directory. I want to find out if there is a reliable way to determine the correct locations. More specifically, is there a way an install script can determine programmatically which are the correct equivalents for /usr/lib for 32- and 64-bit libraries on a given distribution?

  • Grub 'Read Error' - Only Loads with LiveCD

    - by Ryan Sharp
    Problem After installing Ubuntu to complete my Windows 7/Ubuntu 12.04 dual-boot setup, Grub just wouldn't load at all unless I boot from the LiveCD. Afterwards, everything works completely normal. However, this workaround isn't a solution and I'd like to be able to boot without the aid of a disc. Fdisk -l Using the fdisk -l command, I am given the following: Disk /dev/sda: 64.0 GB, 64023257088 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 7783 cylinders, total 125045424 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x324971d1 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 2048 206847 102400 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT /dev/sda2 208896 48957439 24374272 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT /dev/sda3 * 48959486 124067839 37554177 5 Extended /dev/sda5 48959488 124067839 37554176 83 Linux Disk /dev/sdb: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 121601 cylinders, total 1953525168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0xc0ee6a69 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 1024208894 1953523711 464657409 5 Extended /dev/sdb3 * 2048 1024206847 512102400 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT /dev/sdb5 1024208896 1937897471 456844288 83 Linux /dev/sdb6 1937899520 1953523711 7812096 82 Linux swap / Solaris Partition table entries are not in disk order Disk /dev/sdc: 320.1 GB, 320072933376 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders, total 625142448 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x292eee23 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdc1 2048 625141759 312569856 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT Bootinfoscript I've used the BootInfoScript, and received the following output: Boot Info Script 0.61 [1 April 2012] ============================= Boot Info Summary: =============================== => Grub2 (v1.99) is installed in the MBR of /dev/sda and looks at sector 1 of the same hard drive for core.img. core.img is at this location and looks for (,msdos5)/boot/grub on this drive. => Grub2 (v1.99) is installed in the MBR of /dev/sdb and looks at sector 1 of the same hard drive for core.img. core.img is at this location and looks for (,msdos5)/boot/grub on this drive. => Windows is installed in the MBR of /dev/sdc. sda1: __________________________________________________________________________ File system: ntfs Boot sector type: Windows Vista/7: NTFS Boot sector info: No errors found in the Boot Parameter Block.   • Diagnosing packet loss / high latency in Ubuntu

    - by Sam Gammon
We have a Linux box (Ubuntu 12.04) running Nginx (1.5.2), which acts as a reverse proxy/load balancer to some Tornado and Apache hosts. The upstream servers are physically and logically close (same DC, sometimes same-rack) and show sub-millisecond latency between them: PING appserver (10.xx.xx.112) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from appserver (10.xx.xx.112): icmp_req=1 ttl=64 time=0.180 ms 64 bytes from appserver (10.xx.xx.112): icmp_req=2 ttl=64 time=0.165 ms 64 bytes from appserver (10.xx.xx.112): icmp_req=3 ttl=64 time=0.153 ms We receive a sustained load of about 500 requests per second, and are currently seeing regular packet loss / latency spikes from the Internet, even from basic pings: sam@AM-KEEN ~> ping -c 1000 loadbalancer PING 50.xx.xx.16 (50.xx.xx.16): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from loadbalancer: icmp_seq=0 ttl=56 time=11.624 ms 64 bytes from loadbalancer: icmp_seq=1 ttl=56 time=10.494 ms ... many packets later ... Request timeout for icmp_seq 2 64 bytes from loadbalancer: icmp_seq=2 ttl=56 time=1536.516 ms 64 bytes from loadbalancer: icmp_seq=3 ttl=56 time=536.907 ms 64 bytes from loadbalancer: icmp_seq=4 ttl=56 time=9.389 ms ... many packets later ... Request timeout for icmp_seq 919 64 bytes from loadbalancer: icmp_seq=918 ttl=56 time=2932.571 ms 64 bytes from loadbalancer: icmp_seq=919 ttl=56 time=1932.174 ms 64 bytes from loadbalancer: icmp_seq=920 ttl=56 time=932.018 ms 64 bytes from loadbalancer: icmp_seq=921 ttl=56 time=6.157 ms --- 50.xx.xx.16 ping statistics --- 1000 packets transmitted, 997 packets received, 0.3% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 5.119/52.712/2932.571/224.629 ms The pattern is always the same: things operate fine for a while (<20ms), then a ping drops completely, then three or four high-latency pings (1000ms), then it settles down again. Traffic comes in through a bonded public interface (we will call it bond0) configured as such: bond0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:5d inet addr:50.xx.xx.16 Bcast:50.xx.xx.31 Mask:255.255.255.224 inet6 addr: <ipv6 address> Scope:Global inet6 addr: <ipv6 address> Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MASTER MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:527181270 errors:1 dropped:4 overruns:0 frame:1 TX packets:413335045 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:240016223540 (240.0 GB) TX bytes:104301759647 (104.3 GB) Requests are then submitted via HTTP to upstream servers on the private network (we can call it bond1), which is configured like so: bond1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:5c inet addr:10.xx.xx.70 Bcast:10.xx.xx.127 Mask:255.255.255.192 inet6 addr: <ipv6 address> Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MASTER MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:430293342 errors:1 dropped:2 overruns:0 frame:1 TX packets:466983986 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:77714410892 (77.7 GB) TX bytes:227349392334 (227.3 GB) Output of uname -a: Linux <hostname> 3.5.0-42-generic #65~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 2 20:57:18 UTC 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux We have customized sysctl.conf in an attempt to fix the problem, with no success. • Iptables blocking mysql port 3306

    - by valmar
I got a Tomcat server running a web application that must access a mysql server via Hibernate on the same machine. So, I added a rule for port 3306 to my iptables script but tomcat cannot connect to the mysql server for some reason. I need to reset all iptables rules - Then tomcat can connect to the mysql server again. All the other iptables rules work perfectly though. What's wrong? • How do I install the newest Flash beta for Minefield on 64-bit Ubuntu?

    - by Øsse
Hi, I'm using a fully updated Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit which is pretty much bog standard except I'm using Minefield from the Mozilla daily PPA in addition to Firefox as provided by Ubuntu. I want to try the newest beta of Flash (10.3 as of writing). The installation instructions simply say "drop libflashplayer.so into the plugin folder of your browser". This the 32-bit version. Currently I'm using Flash as provided by the package flashplugin-installer (ver. 10.2.152.27ubuntu0.10.10.1). Going to about:plugins in Minefield/Firefox says the version of Flash I'm running is 10.2 r152 and the file responsible is npwrapper.libflashplayer.so. I have two files with that name on my system. One is /usr/share/ubufox/plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so which is a broken link to /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so. The other is /var/lib/flashplugin-installer/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so (note var instead of usr). I also have a file simply called libflashplayer.so in /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/. So it seems Firefox/Minefield gets its Flash plugin from a file that doesn't exist, and replacing libflashplayer.so with the one in the archive from Adobe has no effect. Since I want to try the 32-bit version I have to use the wrapper. The only way I know how is through the flashplugin-installer package. How would I go about installing the newest 32-bit beta Flash if possible at all? And where is "the plugin folder of my browser"?

  • How to tell if Microsoft Works is 32 or 64 bit? Please Help!

    - by Bill Campbell
Hi, I am trying to convert one of our apps to run on Win7 64 bit from XP 32 bit. One of the things that it uses is Excel to import files. It's a little complicated since it was using Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 (Excel). I found Office 14 (2010) has a 64bit version I can download. I downloaded Office 2010 Beta but it didn't seem to install Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.14.0. I found that I could download 2010 Office System Driver Beta: Data Connectivity Components which has the ACE.OLEDB.14 in it but when I try to install it, the installed tells me "You cannot install the 64-bit version of Access Database engine for Microsoft Office 2010 because you currently have 32-bit Office products installed". How do I determine what 32bit office products this is reffering to? My Dell came with Microsoft Works installed. I don't know if this is 32 or 64 bit. Is there anyway to tell? I don't want to uninstall this if it's not the problem and I'm not sure what else might be the problem. Any help would be appreciated! thanks, Bill

  • How to create RPM for 32-bit arch from a 64-bit arch server?

    - by Gnanam
Our production server is running CentOS5 64-bit arch. Because there are no RPM available currently for SQLite latest version (v3.7.3), I created RPM using rpmbuild the very first time by following the instructions given here. I was able to successfully create RPM for 64-bit (x86_64) architecture. But am not able to create RPM for 32-bit (i386) architecture. It failed with the following errors: ... ... ... + ./configure --build=x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu --host=x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu --target=i386-redhat-linux-gnu --program-prefix= --prefix=/usr --exec-prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --sysconfdir=/etc --datadir=/usr/share --includedir=/usr/include --libdir=/usr/lib64 --libexecdir=/usr/libexec --localstatedir=/var --sharedstatedir=/usr/com --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --enable-threadsafe checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... gawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for style of include used by make... • Why does BitLocker need a minimum volume size of 64 MB?

    - by Iszi
Since the future of TrueCrypt appears to be still unclear, I figured I'd try to get my stuff migrated into BitLocker at least for the time being. I nearly never have to access my encrypted data from anything that's not BitLocker-capable, so cross-platform compatibility isn't a big deal to me at this time. However, I am having a bit of an issue understanding the minimum requirement of a 64 MB volume. With TrueCrypt, I was able to protect small files (and most of my protected files are fairly small) in containers down to 300 KB or even less. When I finally created a VHD of an appropriate size last night (100 MB), it seemed the file system itself only took up about 3 MB and encrypting it with BitLocker didn't appear to take up any more. While 3 MB is still an order of magnitude larger than the smallest volume I could make with TrueCrypt, it's still relatively reasonable in comparison to 64 MB. This is an especially large amount of overhead (and largely wasted at that, since it's mostly empty space for now) when I consider that some of these volumes will be stored and synced in the cloud. What possible reasons could BitLocker have for needing volumes to be 64 MB large, when it's not even appearing to use that space? BitLocker FAQ on TechNet

  • What is the solution to enable Dymo Turbo 400 Label Printer to work on Win 7 / 64-bit?

    - by mdpc
It's Christmas time and time for printing labels for all those Christmas cards. I've upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit from XP. I've been unsuccessfully attempting to get the connected Dymo 400 Turbo label USB printer to work again. The latest manufacturer drivers have been successfully loaded and installed. The drivers are supposed to work on Windows 7/64-bit. The Win 7 system(s) in question are patched and up-to-date on that score. The Windows Update site responds with a driver when the USB cable is connected to this printer. The printer queue seems to be established correctly. What happens is that I submit a job to the printer (either using the DYMO s/w or not), it delays for a period of time, and then I get the message 'printing error'. Can't seem to locate the appropriate error in the new and improved event log. Several combinations of rebooting, re-installation and power cycling components fail to make the printer work. Sometimes during some type of reset it spits out the last thing to be submitted, but that seems intermittent. I have tried different USB cables and different USB (2.X) ports as well. I have run the Windows 7 troubleshooter it tries to fix the problem but alas it doesn't. Interestingly, trying the USB printer (and its associated manufacturer drivers and s/w) on another Windows 7 64-bit system has the identical failures noticed on the original system. I did not find anything on the manufacturers' site concerning this problem. The printer has no hardware problems or issues.

  • How do I work out IEEE 754 64-bit Floating Point Double Precision?

    - by yousef gassar
    enter code herehello i have done it in 32 but i could dont do it in 62bits please i need help I am stuck on this question and need help. I don't know how to work it out. This is the question. Below are two numbers represented in IEEE 754 64-bit Floating Point Double Precision, the bias of the signed exponent is -1023. Any particular real number ‘N’ represented in 64-bit form (i.e. with the following bit fields; 1-bit Sign, 11-bit Exponent, 52-bit Fraction) can be expressed in the form ±1.F2 × 2X by substituting the bit-field values using formula (IV.I): N = (-1) S × 1.F2 × 2(E – 1023) for 0 < E < 2047.........................….(IV.I) Where N= the number represented, S=Sign bit-value, E=Exponent=X +1023, F=Fraction or Mantissa are the values in the 1, 11 and 52-bit fields respectively in the IEEE 754 64-bit FP representation. Using formula (IV.I), express the 64-bit FP representation of each number as: (i) A binary number of the form:- ±1.F2 × 2X (ii) A decimal number of the form:- ±0.F10 × 10Y {limit F10 to 10 decimal places} Sign 0 1 Exponent 1000 0001 001 11 Fraction 1111 0111 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 52 Sign 1 1 Exponent 1000 0000 000 11 Fraction 1001 0010 0001 1111 1011 0101 0100 0100 0100 0010 1101 0001 1000 52 I know I have to use the formula for each of the these but how do I work it out? Is it like this? N = (-1) S × 1.F2 × 2(E – 1023) = 1 x 1.1111 0111 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 x 1000 0001 00111 (-1023)?

  • 1k of Program Space, 64 bytes of RAM. Is assembly an absolute must?

    - by Earlz
(If your lazy see bottom for TL;DR) Hello, I am planning to build a new (prototype) project dealing with physical computing. Basically, I have wires. These wires all need to have their voltage read at the same time. More than a few hundred microseconds difference between the readings of each wire will completely screw it up. The Arduino takes about 114 microseconds. So the most I could read is 2 or 3 wires before the latency would skew the accuracy of the readings. So my plan is to have an Arduino as the "master" of an array of ATTinys. The arduino is pretty cramped for space, but it's a massive playground compared to the tinys. An ATTiny13A has 1k of flash ROM(program space), 64 bytes of RAM, and 64 bytes of (not-durable and slow) EEPROM. (I'm choosing this for price as well as size) The ATTinys in my system will not do much. Basically, all they will do is wait for a signal from the Master, and then read the voltage of 1 or 2 wires and store it in RAM(or possibly EEPROM if it's that cramped). And then send it to the Master using only 1 wire for data.(no room for more than that!). So far then, all I should have to do is implement trivial voltage reading code (using built in ADC). But this communication bit I'm worried about. Do you think a communication protocol(using just 1 wire!) could even be implemented in such constraints? TL;DR: In less than 1k of program space and 64 bytes of RAM(and 64 bytes of EEPROM) do you think it is possible to implement a 1 wire communication protocol? Would I need to drop to assembly to make it fit? I know that currently my Arduino programs linking to the Wiring library are over 8k, so I'm a bit concerned.

  • How do I run a VBScript in 32-bit mode on a 64-bit machine?

    - by Peter
I have a text file that ends with .vbs that I have written the following in: Set Conn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") Conn.Provider = "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" Conn.Properties("Data Source") = "C:\dummy.accdb" Conn.Properties("Jet OLEDB:Database Password") = "pass" Conn.Open Conn.Close Set Conn = Nothing When I execute this on a Windows 32-bit machine it runs and ends without any notion (expected). When I execute this on a Windows 64-bit machine it gets the error "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.". But it is installed. I think the root of the problem is that the provider is a 32-bit provider, as far as I know it doesn't exist as 64-bit. If I run the VBScript through IIS on my 64-bit machine (as a ASP file) I can select that it should run in 32-bit mode. It can then find the provider. How can I make it find the provider on Windows 64-bit? Can I tell CScript (which executes the .vbs text file) to run in 32-bit mode somehow?

  • Active Directory and Apple's Workgroup Manager

    - by qbn
I thought I'd share my experiences here. I work for a small business with only ~20 users. I wanted the ability to use managed client preferences to assign things like the software update server. Basically the ability to manage my Macs easily and in a native way. At first I tried the magic triangle solution, but I found this to be very complicated. Not only does it require a Mac OS X Server, but it gives you two points of failure. Additionally each Mac workstation must be bound to both servers. Eventually I sucked it up and went with the schema changes documented here. I was hesitant at first, because the instructions require a lot of manual work. However it was fairly basic and only took me about an hour and a half. Below you'll find the schema changes file that was a result of my work. I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything, after six months of having this in place things have been running great. Too good to not share. I hope I save someone a couple of hours. # ================================================================== # # This file should be imported with the following command: # ldifde -i -u -f Apple AD Schema Changes.ldf -s server:port -b username domain password -j . -c "cn=Configuration,dc=X" #configurationNamingContext # LDIFDE.EXE from AD/AM V1.0 or above must be used. # This LDIF file should be imported into AD or AD/AM. • RHEL 4.8 / Sybase 12.5.4 64 bit install error - I have libaio i368 installed I need libaio x86_64 in

    - by Jon
I am trying to install Sybase ASE 12.5.4 64 bit. I know the machine has a 64 bit processor It is giving me an error during install saying: "error while loading shared libraries: libaio.s0.1" I run the command: rpm -q --qf '%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE} (%{ARCH})\n' libaio Which returns: libaio-0.3.105-2 (i386) I found a src rpm for libaio-0.3.102. I followed the steps to install which included using make. It appeared to install without error. But when I run the rpm -q command again I still only see the i386 version installed. Not really sure where to go from here. Ideally I would like to find a regular rpm of libaio x86_64 for RHEL 4.8. If I were to find one would I upgrade the package that is already there? Would I remove and install the new one. Or would I install and two separate version of the library?

  • Why does Windows Update download updates for 32-bit Win 7 when I have 64-bit and how to solve it?

    - by verve
I have my Windows Update set to "I'll choose when to install" instead of updates installing automatically; good thing too because 90% of the updates are for 32-bit systems! Am I suppose to install them? Shouldn't I only install 64-bit version updates? And, how to I make Windows Update download the proper updates only? Side question: Is there a way to "unselect all" in the Windows Update app? Win 7 64-bit. IE 8.

  • Server freezes at XX:25

    - by Karevan
We've ordered a 50 euro/month server on hetzner.de, it has debian OS. The problem is that server is freezing in random time of the day and nothing appears in log. Only hardware reboot helps. Part of the log file while it was freezing: Aug 17 22:38:26 Debian-60-squeeze-64-minimal pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [INFO] New connection from 95.211.120.220 Aug 17 22:38:26 Debian-60-squeeze-64-minimal pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [INFO] Logout. No. theres no way to look in server's console right after when it freezes, sadly. Datacenter supporters do not really want to help about that. Server has been installed 30th july, times and dates of freezes are down there: 6 august, 0:25 18 august, 2:27 21 august, 1:25 26 august, 23:26. We decided that freezing around ??:25 isn't a hardware fault, and decided to reinstall the OS. Later, 31 august, our admin backed up all files, reinstalled Debian, and restored the backup. But then, 7 september, server went down again, at 5:05. We thought it was related to Anyone else experiencing high rates of Linux server crashes during a leap second day? and turned ntp off. But then the server went down twice again, 21 september, 17:29 and 24 september, 20:27. I called all linux admins I knew to help with solving it and they said everything is fine about configuring OS and it could be hardware only. But they dont know why it always freezes at XX:25-30. Maybe some of you know about something related to that?

  • OpenVPN not sending traffic to internet?

    - by coleifer
I've set up openvpn on my pi and am running into a small issue. I can connect to the VPN server and ping it just fine, and I can also connect to other machines on my local network. However I am unable, when connected to the VPN, to reach the outside world (either by name lookup or IP). here are the details: On the server the tun0 interface: tun0: flags=4305<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,NOARP,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.8.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.255 destination 10.8.0.2 unspec 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 txqueuelen 100 (UNSPEC) RX packets 0 bytes 0 (0.0 B) RX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 frame 0 TX packets 0 bytes 0 (0.0 B) TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0 I can ping it just fine: # ping -c 3 10.8.0.1 PING 10.8.0.1 (10.8.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 10.8.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.159 ms 64 bytes from 10.8.0.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.155 ms 64 bytes from 10.8.0.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.156 ms --- 10.8.0.1 ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2002ms Routing table # ip route show default via 192.168.1.1 dev eth0 metric 204 10.8.0.0/24 via 10.8.0.2 dev tun0 10.8.0.2 dev tun0 proto kernel scope link src 10.8.0.1 192.168.1.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.6 metric 204 I also have ip traffic forwarding: net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 I do not have any custom iptables rules (that I'm aware of). On the client, I can connect to the VPN. Here is my tun0: tun0: flags=4305<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,NOARP,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.8.0.6 netmask 255.255.255.255 destination 10.8.0.5 unspec 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 txqueuelen 100 (UNSPEC) RX packets 0 bytes 0 (0.0 B) RX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 frame 0 TX packets 21 bytes 1527 (1.4 KiB) TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0 And on the client I can ping it: sudo ping -c 3 10.8.0.6 PING 10.8.0.6 (10.8.0.6) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 10.8.0.6: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.035 ms 64 bytes from 10.8.0.6: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.026 ms 64 bytes from 10.8.0.6: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.032 ms --- 10.8.0.6 ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 1998ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.026/0.031/0.035/0.003 ms I can ssh from the client into another server on my LAN (192.168.1.x), however I cannot reach anything outside my LAN. Here's some of the server logs at the bottom of this gist: https://gist.github.com/coleifer/6ef95c3008f130249933/edit I am frankly out of ideas! I don't think it's my client because both my laptop and my phone (which has an openvpn client) exhibit the same behavior. I had OpenVPN installed on this pi before using debian and it worked, so I don't think it's my router but of course anything is possible.

Can someone let me know why I'm seeing all of these? 2013-10-19 23:37:56 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 ftp/tcp 4013 21 0-External Firebox Denied 60 64 (Unhandled External Packet-00) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 282700472 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:37:59 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 http/tcp 2459 80 0-External Firebox Denied 60 64 (Unhandled External Packet-00) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 296571237 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:02 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 8000/tcp 3244 8000 0-External Firebox blocked ports 60 64 (Internal Policy) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 298709937 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:05 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 8000/tcp 3244 8000 0-External Firebox blocked ports 60 64 (Internal Policy) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 298709937 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:05 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 rdp/tcp 3896 3389 0-External Firebox Denied 60 64 (Unhandled External Packet-00) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 290482691 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:08 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 netbios-ns/udp 2110 137 0-External Firebox Denied 78 64 (Unhandled External Packet-00) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:32 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 ftp/tcp 4025 21 0-External Firebox Denied 60 64 (Unhandled External Packet-00) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 321868558 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:35 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 http/tcp 2471 80 0-External Firebox Denied 60 64 (Unhandled External Packet-00) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 325918731 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:38 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 8000/tcp 3256 8000 0-External Firebox blocked ports 60 64 (Internal Policy) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 327854525 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:41 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 8000/tcp 3256 8000 0-External Firebox blocked ports 60 64 (Internal Policy) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 327854525 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:41 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 rdp/tcp 3896 3389 0-External Firebox Denied 60 64 (Unhandled External Packet-00) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" tcp_info="offset 10 S 327101423 win 5840" Traffic 2013-10-19 23:38:44 Deny 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.13 netbios-ns/udp 2110 137 0-External Firebox Denied 78 64 (Unhandled External Packet-00) proc_id="firewall" rc="101" Traffic

  • Should I reinstall my production server from 32 bit to 64 bit if it has 16GB of RAM?

    - by Alexandru Trandafir Catalin
I have a production server with 16GB of RAM that came with a 32bit CentOs installation. The website hosted on this server is increasing its traffic every day and I am having some MySQL trouble so I tried to check the MySQL configuration with mysqltuner.pl and gave me the following messages: [!!] Switch to 64-bit OS - MySQL cannot currently use all of your RAM *** MySQL's maximum memory usage is dangerously high *** *** Add RAM before increasing MySQL buffer variables *** So my question is: can I survive with the 32 bit? Or I will have to install the 64 bit OS? Thanks.
