• WPF Validation of clipboard Data

  Hello normal validation is always related to some control, but in my case there is no control to fire validation when its content changes and to show errortemplate to the user. because the data to be validated is in the cipboard. when the user presses "PASTE" button viewmodel processes the data and finds it to be invalid. but what is the best way to invoke WPF validation in this case? as far as i understand using IDataErrorInfo is the way to go, but what is the best way to start validation. and whst is the best way of displaying the error? errortemplate of the button element? • WPF - Handling events from user control in View Model

  I’m building a WPF application using MVVM pattern (both are new technologies for me). I use user controls for simple bits of reusable functionality that doesn’t contain business logic, and MVVM pattern to build application logic. Suppose a view contains my user control that fires events, and I want to add an event handler to that event. That event handler should be in the view model of the view, because it contains business logic. The question is – view and the view model are connected only by binding; how do I connect an event handler using binding? Is it even possible (I suspect not)? If not – how should I handle events from a control in the view model? Maybe I should use commands or INotifyPropertyChanged?

• Making "helper" windows in WPF

  I'm writing an app in WPF and want to make a "helper" window. The window needs to be resizable, with no minimize option and doesn't show in the taskbar. If the app receives focus, it should appear as well, but whether or not it's in front or behind the main window should be retained. When the main window is closed, it should close along with the app. An example is a detached pane in Visual Studio. I've made the helper windows not appear in the taskbar, but can't get the rest of the behaviors I want. If they're their own windows, they don't get focus along with the rest of the app. If I specify a the main window as their owner, the main window can't be on top of the helper window. Anyone know a good way to approach this?

  I have wpf datagrid with number of template columns. some of them have textbox in them in edit mode and some combobox. i need to give cut/copy/paste facility to user from main menu (ribbon) buttons of my application. when i select some text from textbox and press copy button from main menu. copy button becomes active control so i loose textbox as active control by which i could get selected text. (any solution for this) and second thing i wanted to ask... is there any event get fired when we select textbox's contents? or solution would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

• How to have a dynamic theme color in WPF

  In WPF I have a few resource dictionaries and in them styles for my panels and controls in my app. I'm reusing the same colors again and again. I actually have 5 colors and they give my app a good color-scheme. However if I wan't to change the theme I have to go into the RD's and change each and every color there. I would like to somewhere have the colors set but don't know how or where. I tried to put a color tag in one RD but as soon as I referenced it in the same RD Visual Studio crashed. Also the best solution would be that I could have the color as a dynamic setting in the app itself so users could even change it themselves.

Now I would like to put my binary resources (images/icons) in a single project/assembly in this solution, so that all my other projects in can use them. My question is how I can do that? • Recommendations on a WPF Docking Library

  We are implementing an application that needs dockable windows, similar to Visual Studio 2005/2008, but with multiple "docking sites", unlike VS's single one. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good library for this - either OSS or commercial? I am aware that Infragistics has one, as well as Divelement's SandDock and WPF-Dock from DevComponents, as well as ActiPro's Docking & MDI product. There is also one on CodeProject. Has anyone used any of these libraries? Was the experience good or bad? If you have experience with one of them, does it support multiple "docking sites"?

For ex. if the Content generated is : "A Quick Brown Fox" Then I need they string "Brown" to be in color Brown and "Fox" to be in color Red The Keyword-Color list is fixed and available to me at runtime. I have looked at the Advanced TextFormatting page on MSDN, but it is too complicated for me, also the sample in there does not compile :( I am looking at creating a custom control which can do this for me. • Automatically number items in a wpf listbox

  I have a person class with two properties, Name an Age. I know how to use databinding to display a collection of person in a wpf list box and how to modify the listitemtemplate to customize how each person is displayed. Now I'd like to number each person on the list according to the order they appear on the list (which could change as the the items were sorted via name or age in the display).   I want to show the wait cursor before my WPF application, composed using CAL, fully loads.   Hello Everyone! Lets say I have one ComboBox and 2 TextBox items on my GUI. And I have one DataView with data (City, PostalCode, Street, ID). While initializing the whole thing I fill my DataView with some data :) City 1, 11111, Street 1, 1 City 1, 22222, Street 2, 2 City 1, 33333, Street 3, 3 Now I want to bind this to my ComboBox. DataView is a Class Member called "m_dvAdresses", but this code doesnt help: ItemsSource="{Binding Source=m_dvAdresses}" SelectedValuePath="ID" DisplayMemberPath="Street" Also I want to have my 2 ComboBox items to show PostalCode and City, depending on what to i pick in my ComboBox. Like if I pick "Street 2", TextBox1 show me "City 1" and TexBox2 show me "22222"... How can I bind all of them ONLY in the WPF code? Thanks for help!!!!!!!!!!! :)

• Trouble with creating WPF window extended on the title area (like Office 2007/2010)

  I want to make WPF window extended on the title area (like Office 2007/2010). I implemented DwmWindow (see DwmTest.zip) where I put required stuff. Commonly, it works fine except one disgusting thing: the window appears as white rectangle (see DwmIssue.png) and after a few second this rectangle disappears and the content of the window is shown (see DwmIssueCorrect.png). This bug is essential only for my window. If I remove this lines it works fine (without it aero will not showed on title): HwndSource mainWindowSrc = HwndSource.FromHwnd(handle); if (mainWindowSrc != null) mainWindowSrc.CompositionTarget.BackgroundColor = Colors.Transparent; NativeMethods.MARGINS margins = new NativeMethods.MARGINS(0, 50, 0, 0); NativeMethods.DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea(handle, margins); How can I eliminate this white rectangle? I have a WPF application, in each of my usercontrols / windows I am currently putting the following code in xaml in the header... xmlns:properties="clr-namespace:MaxCut2.Properties" This particular properties namespace I use in every window / usercontrol in my project and I would have thought that if I had put the code in my App.xaml, it would have been exposed to all the child windows/uc's - but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way that I can expose this without having to declare it in every file in XAML?

  In the MVVM pattern for WPF, handling dialogs is one of the more complex operations. As your view model does not know anything about the view, dialog communication can be interesting. I can expose an ICommand that when the view invokes it, a dialog can appear. Does anyone know of a good way to handle results from dialogs? I am speaking about windows dialogs such as MessageBox.   I'm looking for a smooth method of managing toolbars (and menus) with mvvm in WPF. Consider an UI with tabbed workspaces and heterogenous content (like Visual Studio). There the toolbars should be hidden or visible depending on the active tab. How would you design the view viewmodel for the toolbars? I'd use a collection of toolbar-viewmodels and bind the ToolbarTray to it, but afaik that's not possible. Any recommendations are apreciated.   I have a custom font family embedded in my WPF application which I can reference by specifying a base URI and font family name. new FontFamily(new Uri("pack://application:,,,/Fonts/"), "./#My Custom Font Family"); However, when I copy a selection which uses this font the xaml on the clipboard resembles the following <Run Text="Foo" FontFamily="./#My Custom Font Family" /> When I paste into the same RichTextBox I lose the font as it falls back to the system default because - When a FontFamily is specified as an attribute in markup, the base URI value is always implied—its value is the URI of the XAML page. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.media.fontfamily.aspx and my xaml page is not located in the same directory as the custom font family. Any ideas for a workaround?

• WPF: How to efficiently update an Image 30 times per second

  Hello, I'm writing a WPF application that uses a component, and this component returns a pointer (IntPtr) to pixels of a bitmap (stride * height). I know in advance that the bitmap is a 24bits rgb, its width and height. Updating the Image control with these bitmaps makes up a video to the user, but I'm not sure what's the most efficient way to do that, most of the time the CPU usage goes to 75%+ and memory changing from 40mb to 500mb and the nI think GC starts to work and then it drops again to 40mm. The app starts to not be responsive. What shoud I do? thanks!

• WPF TextBlock Overflow Text to the Left

  As background I have a very long ID that too long to display in the given area of the TextBlock. The interesting portion of the ID is the end, that is the rightmost portion. What I would like to do is have the TextBlock, rather than the text overflowing right and cutting off the rightmost portion, overflow left and cutoff the leftmost portion. That is given the ID 123456 and a TextBlock with enough space to hold four characters, to get the TextBlock to display 3456 rather than 1234 as it does by default. I could manually trim my ID for display, but given a variable spaced font that's not ideal. So is there someway to get WPF do change the overflow direction?
