• WYSIHAT Photos upload not working - Paperclip - Ruby on Rails

  I just successfully installed WysiHat in my rails blog. Seems that the 'add a picture' feature is not working. It successfully allows me to find and select a picture from my desktop but upon clicking save, it does nothing. I also have Paperclip successfully installed. I am wondering if this may have something to do with it. Perhaps Paperclip is getting in the way, or, perhaps I need to connect Paperclip and WysiHat somehow. Any ideas? (let me know if I need to post any code). Also, WysiHat-engine uses facebox, not sure if that is relevant. UPDATE: Added Server Log, looks like paperclip is saving it so not sure what else is going wrong. • Adding custom valiadtion to ASP.NET controls

  We're trying to build a simple asp control for some clients where they can just drop in a single block - i.e. <captcha:CaptchaControl ID="CaptchaControl1" runat="server" Server="http://localhost:51947/" /> and have it render the control. The catch is that I can't get this to include custom validation. Right now I'm using the RenderContents function to display the layout of the control itself as well as hook it up the to Javascript. • Binding a DropDownList inside a DetailsView

  Hello, I'm having problems trying to populate a dropdownlist from the database. When I'm trying to set the datasource I can't find the dropdown control, it's in a DetailsView so I think it might have something to do with it only being created when it's in edit mode. It still says it's in current mode when I'm editing though, so not sure what's going on there. • Place Query Results into Array then Implode?

  Basically I pull an Id from table1, use that id to find a site id in table2, then need to use the site ids in an array, implode, and query table3 for site names. I cannot implode the array correctly first I got an error, then used a while loop. • Generating equals / hashcode / toString using annotation

  I believe I read somewhere people generating equals / hashcode / toString methods during compile time (using APT) by identifying which fields should be part of the hash / equality test. I couldn't find anything like that on the web (I might have dreamed it ?) ... That could be done like that : public class Person { @Id @GeneratedValue private Integer id; @Identity private String firstName, lastName; @Identity private Date dateOfBirth; //... } For an entity (so we want to exlude some fields, like the id). Or like a scala case class i.e a value object : @ValueObject public class Color { private int red, green, blue; } Not only the file becomes more readable and easier to write, but it also helps ensuring that all the attributes are part of the equals / hashcode (in case you add another attribute later on, without updating the methods accordingly). I heard APT isn't very well supported in IDE but I wouldn't see that as a major issue. After all, tests are mainly run by continuous integration servers. Any idea if this has been done already and if not why ? Thanks

  I have a navbar right under the title to the site, but I want to be line up the first and last items in the navbar with the beginning and end of the Title. I don't have a live preview, but I attached an image. I can get it to line up in one browser, but when I open it in the other, its off again.   I need to create a configuration file from a data file that looks as follows: MAN1_TIME '01-JAN-2010 00:00:00.0000 UTC' MAN1_RX 123.45 MAN1_RY 123.45 MAN1_RZ 123.45 MAN1_NEXT 'MAN2' MAN2_TIME '01-MAR-2010 00:00:00.0000 UTC' MAN2_RX 123.45 [...] MAN2_NEXT 'MANX' [...] MANX_TIME [...] This file describes different "legs" of a trajectory. In this case, MAN1 is chained to MAN2, and MAN2 to MANX. In the original file, the chains are not as obvious (i.e., they are non-sequential). I've managed to read the file and store in an Sqlite3 database (I'm using the Python interface). The table is stored with three columns: Id, Par, and Val; for instance, Id='MAN1', Par='RX', and Val='123.45'. I'm interested in querying such database for obtaining the information related to 'n' legs. In English, that would be: "Select RX,RY,RZ for the next five legs starting on MAN1" So the query would go to MAN1, retrieve RX, RY, RZ, then read the parameter NEXT and go to that Id, retrieve RX, RY, RZ; read the parameter NEXT; go to that one ... like this five times. How can I pass such query with "dynamic parameters"? Thank you.

• Faster image loading

  I want to display about 5-8 images on my page, one by one, but I would like them to pre-load one and not loading them each time i switch to anohter image. I have seen some examples where they have all images (hidden) on the page something like: <a href=""><img id="img1" src="images/image1.png" class="image" alt="" /></a> <a href=""><img id="img2" src="images/image1.png" class="image" alt="" /></a> <a href=""><img id="img3" src="images/image1.png" class="image" alt="" /></a> And the unhide the current image. And what I have is one image that i change it's src attribute for path for new images from th array. SwitchNextImage: function(){ var theimg=document.getElementById("imgContainer"); this.currentIndex = this.currentIndex+ 1 == this.totalImageCount ? 0 : this.currentIndex + 1; theimg.src=this.slideimages[this.currentIndex].src; } The first method is obviously faster loading. But requies static links. My questions is how can I make my method more faster loading?

• HTML onmouseover doesn't work to show up text

  I'm trying to show some information on a picture when onmouseover/onmouseout event occurs. What I want to achieve is something like this website does on top selling. My code is like this: <div class="container" onmouseover="$('#info').css('display','block');" onmouseout="$('#info').css('display','none');"> <img src=..."> <div id="info" style="display:none"> ... some text ... </div> </div> So div info block is initially hidden, but when mouse is on a picture I want the information to appear on corresponding picture (with tint background on the image to see text well). But somewhat it doesn't work. I appreciate any suggestion how to approach this problem. Edit: more precisely, the reason why I choose to use inline because I need to show/hide text corresponding to the image(contain unique div id)that user put their mouse on/out. That means I have many div container and each container has unique div id.

Now some of the examples I found says we should do something like if (!$this->getUrls()->contains($url)) { // add url } but this doesn't work as this compares the element values. As the $url doesn't have id value yet, this will always fail and $url will be dublicated. So I'd really appreciate if someone could explain how I can add an element to the ArrayCollection without persisting it and avoiding the duplication? Edit I have managed to achive this via $p = function ($key, $element) use ($url) { if ($element->getUrlHash() == $url->getUrlHash()) { return true; } else { return false; } }; But doesn't this still load all urls and then performs the check? I don't think this is efficient as there might be thousands of urls per user.

I am trying to set up a container that the user can drag items into and then move the items around within the container. • How can one setup a version control system on a local network, without a server?

  Edit: Ok so I learned that I guess I need an distributed source control, however are there any UI based ones, and do they allow you to merge with other users on the network? This is kind of a two part question, so here it goes. I want to start developing a web application at home (with multiple developers). However, I don't have a dedicated server nor want to pay for on. So first, I don't know which version control system to use for this case, as at work we mostly have TFS setup, so I am not to familiar with whats out there. What are the best free CVS/SVN tools out there? Second, is it possible to somehow setup the CVS/SVN where there is no dedicated server and both clients store up to one week of the source code from the last check-in? Also, it would be helpful if it could integrate with visual studio, again this isn't that important at all. Problem: There are Five users, one is a Server. Server Connected: All Ok Server Disconnected: No one can share. What I am looking for: No Server: Users still have versioning based on version id of last check-in. Users must check all version on network to make sure they aren't outdated based on their last version id. If not check-in, otherwise merge/get latest. If they are update checkin, and set current version id +1.

  Hi I recently started evaluating ASP.NET MVC. While it is really easy and quick to create Controllers and Views for Models with only primitive properties (like shown in the starter videos from the official page) I didn't find any good way to work with references to complex types. Let's say, I have these Models: public class Customer { public int Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public Address Address { get; set; } public IList<Order> Orders { get; set; } } public class Address { public int Id { get; set; } public string ..... ..... } public class Order { public int Id { get; set; } public Customer Customer { get; set; } public string OrderName { get; set; } ..... } Note that I don't have foreign keys in the models (like it's typical for LINQ to SQL, which is also used in the sample video) but an object reference. How can I handle such references in asp.net mvc? Does someone has some good tips or links to tutorials about this problem? maybe including autobinding with complex types.

• Firefox drags div like it was an image, javascript event handlers possibly to blame

The first "slide" is okay, you drag, it says "sliding", you drop, it says "not sliding". On the second "slide" (or mousedown if you will), firefox suddenly thinks the div is an image or link and wants to drag it around. Windows does not capture the cursor when you take a screenshot, but it's a stop sign. Is there someway to prevent this default behaviour?

• How to open a document using an application launched via NSTask?

  Hello world, I've grown tired of the built-in open Mac OS X command, mostly because it runs programs with your actual user ID instead of the effective user ID; this results in the fact sudo open Foo opens Foo with its associated application with your account instead of the root account, and it annoys me. So I decided to make some kind of replacement. So far I've been successful: I can open any program under the open -a or open -b fashion, and support optionally waiting. I'm using NSTask for that purpose. However, I'd like to be able to open documents too. As far as I can see, you need to use NSWorkspace for that, but using NSWorkspace to launch programs results in them being launched with your account's credentials instead of your command line program's credentials. Which is precisely what the default open tool does, and precisely what I don't want. So, how can I have a program request that another program opens a document without using NSWorkspace? From the NSTask object, I can have the process ID, but that's about it.

  I have googled but I can't find answers for these questions. Your advice is appreciated. centOS on vps with 512MB RAM, nginx, php5 (fastcgi), mysql5 (myisam, not innodb). I need to optimize this app created by some ex-employee. This app is working, but it's slow. Table: t1(id[bigint(20)],c1[mediumtext],c2[mediumtext],c3[mediumtext],c4[mediumtext]) id is some random big number, and is PK Those mediumtext rows look like this: c1="|box-002877|" c2="|ct-2348|rd-11124854|hw-3949|wd-8872|hw-119037736|...etc.. " c3="|fg-2448|wd-11172|hw-1656|...etc.. " c4="|hg-2448|qd-16667|...etc." (some columns contain a lot of data, around 900 KiB, database around 300 MiB) Yes, mediumtext "is bad", and (20) is too big... but I didn't create this. Those codes can be found on any of those 4 mediumtext's... //he needs all the columns of the row containing $code, so he wrote this: function f1($code) { SELECT * FROM t1 WHERE c1 LIKE '%$code%' OR c2 LIKE '%$code%' OR c3 LIKE '%$code%' OR c4 LIKE '%$code%'; Questions: Q1. If $code is found on c1... mysql automatically stops checking and returns row=id+c1+c2+c3+c4? or it will continue (wasting time) checking c2, c3 and c4?... Q2. Mysql is working with this table on disk (not RAM) because of the mediumtext, right? is this the primary cause of slowness? Q3. That query can be cached by mysql (if using a big query_cache_size=128M value on the my.cnf)? or that's not cacheable due to the mediumtexts, or due to the "OR LIKE"...? Q4. Do you recommend rewriting this with mysql's INSTR() / LOCATE() / MATCH..AGAINST [FULLTEXT]?
