    I can't get expand_aliases to take effect in bash. I've tried a lot of different things, and nothing works. Here's the simple test case: /bin/bash -c 'shopt -s expand_aliases; alias cdtmp="cd /tmp"; alias; cdtmp; pwd;' And the output: $ /bin/bash -c 'shopt -s expand_aliases; alias cdtmp="cd /tmp"; alias; cdtmp; pwd;' alias cdtmp='cd /tmp' /bin/bash: cdtmp: command not found /home/user $ /bin/bash --version GNU bash, version 3.2.25(1)-release (i686-redhat-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc.   • Appengine not liking my .jspx files

    I have a little app that runs fine on local dev appengine, but appengine itself is not processing my .jspx files. The jspx files are in WEB-INF so they should not be excluded by appengine (as a static resource) I am using Apache Tiles to define my views.     To put this question into context, I'm trying to calculate "time in app" based on an event log. Assume the following table: user_id event_time 2 2012-05-09 07:03:38 3 2012-05-09 07:03:42 4 2012-05-09 07:03:43 2 2012-05-09 07:03:44 2 2012-05-09 07:03:45 4 2012-05-09 07:03:52 2 2012-05-09 07:06:30 I'd like to get the difference between the highest and lowest event_time from a set of timestamps that are within 2 minutes of eachother (and grouped by user). If a timestamp is outside of a 2 minute interval from the set, it should be considered a part of another set. Desired output: user_id seconds_interval 2 7 (because 07:03:45 - 07:03:38 is 7 seconds) 3 0 (because 07:03:42) 4 9 (because 07:03:52 - 2012-05-09 07:03:43) 2 0 (because 07:06:30 is outside 2 min interval of 1st user_id=2 set) This is what I've tried, although I can't group on seconds_interval (even if I could, I'm not sure this is the right direction): SELECT (max(tr.event_time)-min(tr.event_time)) as seconds_interval FROM some_table tr INNER JOIN TrackingRaw tr2 ON (tr.event_time BETWEEN tr2.event_time - INTERVAL 2 MINUTE AND tr2.event_time + INTERVAL 2 MINUTE) GROUP BY seconds_interval

Now I'm looking to search for a given winner X in the table, and find out what position he is in, when the table is ordered by points.     I am trying to embed binary blobs into an exe file. I am using mingw gcc. I make the object file like this: ld -r -b binary -o binary.o input.txt I then look objdump output to get the symbols: objdump -x binary.o And it gives symbols named: _binary_input_txt_start _binary_input_txt_end _binary_input_txt_size I then try and access them in my C program: #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> extern char _binary_input_txt_start[]; int main (int argc, char *argv[]) { char *p; p = _binary_input_txt_start; return 0; } Then I compile like this: gcc -o test.exe test.c binary.o But I always get: undefined reference to _binary_input_txt_start Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

    For the life of me I cannot get my google calendar xml feed to only display events within a certain date range. I know that start-min and start-max are supposed to limit the output (according to these posts: (links to posts deleted because I am a newbie and can only post one hyperlink argh) BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK. It keeps showing lot of things outside the range. I created a sample calendar and made it public. It is some events the first week of april. Can anyone show me how to construct a request that only returns those three events from the first week in april? I'll GLADLY and GRATEFULLY paypal $10 to anyone who helps me break through on this. Essentially I am trying to take the first column of a csv file and parse it to a new file. Here is what I have tried so far: awk -F"," '{print $1}' in.csv > out.txt awk -F"," '{for (i=2;i<=NF;i++)}' in.csv > out.txt awk -F"," 'BEGIN { OFS="," }' '{print $1}' in.csv > out.txt cat in.csv | cut -d \, -f 1 > out.txt None seem to work, either they just print the first line or nothing at all, so I would assume it's failing to read line by line.

    I can't seem to call this executable correctly in my psake deploy script. If I do this: exec { "$ArchiverOutputDir\NServiceBus.Host.exe /install" } It simply outputs this (and is clearly not calling the executable - just outputting the value of that expression): c:\ReloDotNet2_ServiceEndpoints\Archiver\NServiceBus.Host.exe /install But if I do this: exec { c:\ReloDotNet2_ServiceEndpoints\Archiver\NServiceBus.Host.exe /install } I get the expected output from the executable. How do I correctly call an executable with a variable in the path to the executable in psake? If this is actually a PowerShell issue, please feel free to correct the question to reflect that insight.     I currently started to "port" my console projects to WinForms, but it seems I am badly failing doing that. I am simply used to a console structure: I got my classes interacting with each other depending on the input coming from the console. A simple flow: Input -> ProcessInput -> Execute -> Output -> wait for input Now I got this big Form1.cs (etc.) and the "Application.Run(Form1);" But I really got no clue how my classes can interact with the form and create a flow like I described above. I mean, I just have these "...._Click(object sender....)" for each "item" inside the form. Now I do not know where to place / start my flow / loop, and how my classes can interact with the form.

    Is it possible to use Ruby as a scripting language with a HTTP server ? I'd like to be able to simply put some Ruby files in a web directory and be able to execute them from my browser - just like I did with PHP. I have absolutely nothing against frameworks such as RoR, but I was told that I should first learn Ruby and only then move on with higher level frameworks. Of course, I could write some Ruby scripts and run them in the console, but I would prefer getting the input/output from my browser :) Is that possible at all ? Otherwise, how hard would it be for me to build a quick and simple web framework ?

  • How to debug a GWT application running on OSGi?

    I'm developing a web UI using GWT. While working only with the widgets I could debug from Eclipse using the Firefox extension, but now that I'm integrating the UI with other OSGi bundles I cannot use this solution. For deploying the GWT application I create the .war and convert it to an OSGi bundle using BND. Then I launch the OSGi container with all the bundles using Pax Runner and Pax Web and the application works correctly, but when something fails in the generated javascript code I don't have any decent output error or debugging facility. Is there any way to launch the GWT application in "debug mode" from OSGi? Any other idea that could help in this scenario?

    Hello, I reading some old ScottGu's blogs on Linq2SQL. Now I'm doing the SPROC part. I'd like to know what's the exact meaning of @variable. See this from ScottGu's Blog ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.GetCustomersDetails ( @customerID nchar(5), @companyName nvarchar(40) output ) AS SELECT @companyName = CompanyName FROM Customers WHERE CustomerID = @customerID SELECT * FROM Orders WHERE CustomerID = @customerID ORDER BY OrderID I'm kind of lost as, so far, I've though of anything preceded by a '@' as a placeholder for user input. But, in the example above, it looks like '@companyName' is used as a regular variable like in C# for instance (SELECT @companyName = ...). But, @companyName is not known yet. So, what the true nature a something preceded by a '@' like above? a vriable? a simple placeholder to accommodate user entered value? Thanks for helping

  • NSSortDescriptor for NSFetchRequest sorting unexpectedly

    My entity has a property (sortOrder) that is of the type Decimal(NSDecimalNumber) but when I execute a fetch request using that property as a key, I get back results in a seemingly random order. If I output the value of the property I get really strange values until I get it's intValue. Example: The first run produces this result. The first value is the raw value of the property. The second is the intValue, the actual value of the property when I created the object - or at least I thought. 85438160 10 74691424 20 Second run... 85333744 10 85339168 20 Third... 85263696 20 85269568 10 What the hell?

StringReader sr = new StringReader(content); Source xmlSource = new StreamSource(sr, requestSystemId); transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.ENCODING, "UTF-8"); transformer.setParameter("encoding", "UTF-8"); //same result when using ByteArrayOutputStream xo = new java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream(); StringWriter xo = new StringWriter(); StreamResult result = new StreamResult(xo); transformer.transform(xmlSource, result); out.write(xo.toString()); The problem is that national characters are encoded as html entities and not by using UTF. Is there any way to force transformer to use UTF-8 instead of entities?

    In the world of embedded software (firmware) it is fairly common to observe the order of events, take timings and optimise a program by getting it to waggle PIO lines and capturing their behavior on an oscilloscope. In days gone by it was possible to toggle pins on the serial and parallel ports to achieve much the same thing on PC-based software. This made it possible to capture host PC-based software events and firmware events on the same trace and examine host software/firmware interactions. Now, my new laptop ... no serial or parallel ports! This is increasingly the case. So, does anyone have any suggestions as to go about emitting accurate timing signals off a "modern" PC? It strikes me that we don't have any immediately programmable, lag-free output pins left. The solution needs to run off a laptop, so using add-on cards that only plug into desktops are not permitted.

    I'm trying to create a macro for Keyboard Maestro for OS X doing the following: Get name of newest file in a directory on my disk based on date created; Paste the text "newest file: " plus the name of the newest file. One of its options is to "Execute a shell script", so I thought that would do it for 1. After Googling around a bit I came up with this: cd /path/to/directory/ ls -t | head -n1 This sorts it right, and returns the first filename. However, it also seems to includes a line break, which I do not want. As for 2: I can output the text "newest file: " with a different action in the app, and paste the filename behind that. But I'm wondering if you can't return "random text" + the outcome of the ls command. So my question is: can I do this only using the ls command? And how do I get just the name of the latest file without any linebreaks or returns?

    Hi, I'm trying to run mxmlc in the following manner. mxmlc -load-config+=mycfg.xml C:\\projects\\src\\main.mxml -output myswf.swf In the config file, I want to keep some values configurable, for example the paths of the external libraries. Is it possible to include a property file into the config file and use it as {property_name} in the config file? Or is it possible to pass certain arguments from the command line itself that will override/replace the corresponding values in the config file, like the -D option in the ant command? Please provide your suggestions.

    I have tried checking out the mDNSResponder source from Apple's SVN host, with the thought of compiling it and tweaking it. This failed miserably. Here is the last line of the output of cd trunk SRCROOT=. make I get the same error for several tags in the SVN tree, so I'm not sure if there is something on my end wrong?   • How do you control what your C compiler Optimizes?

    I am writing the firmware for an embedded device in C using the Silicon Labs IDE and the SDCC compiler. The device architecture is based on the 8051 family. The function in question is shown below. The function is used to set the ports on my MCU to drive a stepper motor. It gets called in by an interrupt handler. The big switch statement just sets the ports to the proper value for the next motor step. The bottom part of the function looks at an input from a hall effect sensor and a number of steps moved in order to detect if the motor has stalled. The problem is, for some reason the second IF statement that looks like this if (StallDetector > (GapSize + 20)) { HandleStallEvent(); } always seems to get optimized out. If I try to put a breakpoint at the HandleStallEvent() call the IDE gives me a message saying "No Address Correlation to this line number". I am not really good enough at reading assembly to tell what it is doing but I have pasted a snippet from the asm output below.
