• Any way to set up a grid for a board game in cocos 2d?

  My first idea was to create a 2d array for my columns and rows, but it seems like there should be a better, or possibly cleaner, way to achieve this. Each square on the grid is going to have a background image, probably a .png although I might just draw the images with a draw method. Basically, I want to be able to drag and drop images onto the individual grid squares. I've been searching for a solution and the closest thing I can find is the tiled map solution. That just seems like a little overkill for what I'm trying to accomplish. Also, I don't know if this helps but i need my grid to be 12 by 12 and take up the entire width of the iphone screen.

• Anti aliasing problem

  I am auditioning fonts on google web fonts and one that I was discounting was Ubuntu because it looked a bit jagged ( screenshot below taken straight from google); however afterward I read an article where it was mentioned as a good choice, and there was a screenshot where it looked really good ( to me anyway ). I am using windows 7 and have tried looking at it in chrome and firefox. I notice the same thing with some other fonts but this one is a good example because it looks perfect in the screenshot but not so good when I look at it on their site. I know this essentially is a question about setting my computer, but I thought that this would be the best place to pose the question: Is there something wrong with the settings on my machine seeing as it's obviously not showing the font the same on my computer as it did when the article writer downloaded it and used it in an image. FYI: on Google official guidelines I did not find info about this. I suppose hotlink protection prevents Google Images to show images in its results because I did some tests and it seems hotlink protection does prevent my images to be shown in Google Images search.

• Where are the systray icons for Dropbox in Ubuntu desktop 13.04 (minimal)?

  I reinstalled Ubuntu desktop using the minimal CD image and the following command: $ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop --no-install-recommends After that I used Ubuntu Software Center to make sure Unity supports application indicators: http://i.imgur.com/bYF162w.png. Everything works great, except for Dropbox. For some reason the icon doesn't appear in the tray, even though the application is running. Steam on the other hand runs just fine, so it seems like there is nothing wrong with the tray itself. According to this post the tray icons should be in /usr/shared/icons/hicolor/22x22/status but it doesn't contain any Dropbox icons. Neither do any of the other resolutions. The answer is a bit outdated, so I'm not entirely sure it is still applicable to the current version of Dropbox. I did the usual thing of reinstalling dropbox with: sudo apt-get purge nautilus-dropbox sudo apt-get install nautilus-dropbox But that didn't solve anything either. Does somebody know how to fix this issue?

• Algorithm to calculate trajectories from vector field

  I have a two-dimensional vector field, i.e., for each point (x, y) I have a vector (u, v), whereas u and v are functions of x and y. This vector field canonically defines a set of trajectories, i.e. a set of paths a particle would take if it follows along the vector field. In the following image, the vector field is depicted in red, and there are four trajectories which are partly visible, depicted in dark red: I need an algorithm which efficiently calculates some trajectories for a given vector field. The trajectories must satisfy some kind of minimum denseness in the plane (for every point in the plane we must have a 'nearby' trajectory), or some other condition to get a reasonable set of trajectories. I could not find anything useful on Google on this, and Stackexchange doesn't seem to handle the topic either. Before I start devising such an algorithm by myself: Are there any known algorithms for this problem? What is their name, for which keywords do I have to search?

• I am so confused about desktop/viewport switching, all I want to do is bind keyboard shortcuts to switch desktops

  I've installed a pre-made Ubuntu 10.04 image at work, and I can't seem to figure out how to get desktop switching to work. No shortcuts work, and all the help I can get from the Ubuntu forums is "CTRL-Alt-Left/Right should work." So lemme get this straight. Switching between desktops is deprecated, so we use viewports, which are managed by Compiz, which has one of the most absurd configuration managers out there. Lovely. Can anyone straighten this out for me, and anyone else who might stumble on this question?

  I have just upgraded my Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 and there is following problem. When I press super button to show Unity Dash I get wrong background image behind the dash box. Especially I can see part of the bottom of the screen. Also when I set transparency to top panel the background behind is not correct. Here is an example with Mc Duck picture: Unity Mc Duck example Do you have any ideas whats wrong? • application custom stock icons not working in ubuntu unity top panel menu (aka appmenu) ("Menus Have Icons" ON)

  I recently noticed that in ubuntu unity the top menu of my apps does not show the (custom) icons I added to the gtk stock, but only the basic gtk stock icons. This happens only since the top menu is displayed in the unity top panel (appmenu) and not in the application window. In place of the correct custom icons I see "gtk-missing-image". On my apps toolbars and other menus those icons are displayed properly, the problem is only with the top menu. This happens either with pygtk2 (e.g. http://www.giuspen.com/cherrytree/) and gobject introspection (e.g. http://www.giuspen.com/nautilus-pyextensions/). I use gtk ui manager after integrating the stock icons this way: factory = gtk.IconFactory() pixbuf = gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file(filepath) iconset = gtk.IconSet(pixbuf) factory.add(stock_name, iconset) factory.add_default() If anybody solved this problem please help. • Why does Google Analytics show false referrals?

  Ever since Google revamped their Analytics interface I've been noticing a weird "bug" while viewing the "Real-Time" overview area. From this area I can obviously see live stats of visitors to my website but when I visit my website by opening a new tab (Chrome) and manually visit website the real time stats sometimes look like the image linked below. http://i.stack.imgur.com/mfniY.png Is there any reason why Google is saying that I was referred by Stack Overflow when I'm visiting my website from a new tab? Could this be something do to with how I installed the analytics on my site or could this be an issue with browser cookies? Have anyone else noticed this? I am mainly concerned about this because in the standard reporting area of my Analytics panel my referral stats are getting thrown off every time I visit my own website.

  I tried to install Ubuntu Quantal AM64 on a EFI - GPT notebook (asus X501U) in dualboot. Ubuntu works fine, but i can't boot windows anymore. HDD is partitioned in this way: sda1 0.2 Gb boot efi sda2 0.128 Gb sda3 60 Gb Windows sda4 210 Gb Data sda5 15 Gb Ubuntu sda6 4 Gb swap sda7 25 Gb recovery image Booting pc, grub2 runs, but if i try to select "windows 7 loader on sda3" i receive this message: "error: invalid EFI file path." If i select "windows recovery Environment on sda7" i receive: "error: impossible find command "drivemap" - error: invalid EFI file path." I installed dualboot ubuntu many times, but this is the first time on a EFI - GPT system.

Currently the program doesn't work with shader. How it is possible to add pixel shader to the program with this structure? Inside the shader, I need to set all colors equal to red, and multiply pixel values by some coefficient. • Searching for an online shop accessible via API

  I need an online shop with a custom interface (customizing items with Ajax, with a preview included). Writing it myself does not make too much sense (implementing all the payment options etc.), so I would like to use an existing online shop (OpenSource). I would like to build my own UI which, for example, tells the shop to add an item to its cart -- i.e. without using the online shop's native UI. More precisely, it should be an online gallery where the user can directly order an image if he likes it. The final checkout/payment page can be native again. Is there a shop system that supports this? Or is it still faster to write it on my own? Or are there better options?

• Error installing Japanese game on lubuntu

  So, I have a .iso file for a japanese game. so I used Furious ISO mounter to mount the image, and used wine loader to install the game, but when I try, there's this small windows with two options, most likely YEs and No, with weird symbols and squares in the area there shoudl be text. I installed Japanese Language, but doesn't work. I got the Fake Japanese for Winetrick, but I'm not sure how to use this. Does anyoneno know how to fix this problem?? THank you.

  Possible Duplicate: How to take a screenshot of a whole desktop with app menu selection? I recently wanted to take a screen shot of a nautilus menu to provide an image to the answer of a nautilus related question. (I was looking for it). But when I opened up the menu and press the prtsrc key, nothing happened. I have also tried Shift+PrtSrc Key and Alt+PrtScr key. Result was the same. My question is : Is is not possible not take a screenshot while you have a menu open?. Is it bug or not? Note: To test this, just right-click on the desktop, and press prtsrc key.

In a copyright infrigement sense, could I have problems with this? Imagine a question such as, "What was the currency used in game X?", or "Which company made game Y?". • Slerping rotation mirrors

  I rotate my game character to watch at the target using the following code: transform.rotation = Quaternion.Slerp(startQuaternion, lookQuaternion, turningNormalizer*turningSpeed/10f) startQuaternion is the character's current rotation when a new target is given. lookQuaternion is the direction the character should look at and it's set like this: destinationVector = currentWaypoint.transform.position - transform.position; lookQuaternion = Quaternion.LookRotation(destinationVector, Vector3.up); turningNormalizer is just Time.deltaTime incremented and turningSpeed is a static value given in the editor. The problem is that while the character turns as it should most of the time, it has problems when it has to do close to 180 degrees. Then it at times jitters and mirrors the rotation: In this poorly drawn image the character(on the right) starts to turn towards the circle on the left. Instead of just turning either through left or right it starts this "mirror dance": It starts to rotate towards the new facing Then it suddenly snaps to the same angle but on other side and keeps rotating It does this "mirroring" so long until it looks at the target. Is this a thing with quaternions, slerping/lerping or something else?
