  I have a small program to do in Java. I have a 2D array filled with 0 and 1, and I must find the largest rhombus (as in square rotated by 90 degrees) and their numbers. • MS-Access nested DIR - check if a file exists elsewhere whilst looping through a folder

  I have used the DIR() command in Microsoft Access 2003 to loop through the files in folder A. This works fine, but I need to check if each file also exists in another location (folder B), and only process the file if it doesn't exist in folder B. The problem is that checking for the file existing in folder B also uses the DIR() function and this then resets or confuses the original one, with the result that no further files are found in folder A. Is there a way to check if a file exists without using DIR? Or, is there a way to have a separate instance of DIR? I suppose I could build a list of the files in folder A into an array and then process the entries in the array, but this seems rather 'clunky' Any suggestions for a better solution? Thanks

  I need to write a Shell Script to process a huge folder of nearly 20 levels.I have to process each and every file and check which files contain lines like select insert update When I mean line it should take the line till I find a semicolon in that file. • Lua : Dynamicly calling a function with arguments.

  Using Lua, I'm trying to dynamicly call a function with parameters. What I want to have it done is I send a string to be parsed in a way that : 1st argument is a class instance "Handle" 2nd is the function to be called All that is left are arguments "modules" is a a table like { string= } split() is a simple parser that returns a table with indexed strings function Dynamic(msg) local args = split(msg, " ") module = args[1] table.remove(args, 1) if module then module = modules[module] command = args[1] table.remove(args, 1) if command then if not args then module[command]() else module[command](unpack(args)) -- Reference 1 end else -- Function doesnt exist end else -- Module doesnt exist end end When I try this with "ignore remove bob", by "Reference 1", it tries to call "remove" on the instance associated with "ignore" in modules, and gives the argument "bob", contained in a table (with a single value). However, on the other side of the call, the remove function does not receive the argument. I even tried to replace the "Reference 1" line with module[command]("bob") but I get the same result.

• Simple time profiling - strange times

  I'm trying to profile my code to check how long it takes to execute some parts of my code. I've wrapped my most time-consuming part of the code in something like that: DateTime start = DateTime.Now; ... ... // Here comes the time-consuming part ... Console.WriteLine((DateTime.Now - start).Miliseconds); The program is executing this part of code for couple of seconds (about 20 s) but in console I get the result of something about 800 miliseconds. Why is that so? What am I doing wrong?

  Hi guys, I'm just learning some basic programming in Objective C and Cocoa. I'm trying to get some data from NSTableView. Based on what I read in one tutorial, I wrote this: NSArray * items = [[itemsTableView selectedRowEnumerator] allObjects]; But then I learned that selectedRowEnumerator was deprecated already in 10.3 Panther and that I should use selectedRowIndexes. The problem is, I didn't find how to actually use the returned NSIndexSet to achieve the same result as with code written above. So, If anyone could give me a tip, I would be very grateful. Thanks.

  Hello, I recently finished my first IPhone app and want to test it on my device now. I registered (and paid) for an Developer Account and managed to install the required certificates. Unfortunately my device is on firmware 3.1.2 (which I don't want to upgrade). My SDK only shows 3.1.3 as possible Target. As a result it can't be installed on my 3.1.2 device. Where can I set/change to target platform ? Otherwise my App would only run on the newest firmwares, right ? Instead I want to provide it to every User with OS 3.0

  Hi, I'm trying to integrate Sugar CRM with one of my projects. I'm using Apache Axis as my SOAP client. I've created the Sugar CRM client Stub classes using Apache Axis. I'm able to login and add Leads, Opportunities, Accounts and Contacts. But I'm unable to add a relation ship between my Account and Opportunity. I've found following method in the SugarsoapPortType port.set_relationship(session, module_name, module_id, link_field_name, related_ids, name_value_list, delete) but I cannot understand the different parameters required by this method. In WPF implementation of RelayCommand or DelegateCommand classes there is a such eventhandler /// <summary> /// Occurs whenever the state of the application changes such that the result of a call to <see cref="CanExecute"/> may return a different value. /// </summary> public event EventHandler CanExecuteChanged { add { CommandManager.RequerySuggested += value; } remove { CommandManager.RequerySuggested -= value; } } but in SL subset of namespaces there are no CommandManager class. And this is where I'm stuck. I haven't yet found an workaround for this in MVVM adoptation for SL (PRISM is so complex for me yet). Different simple HelloWorldMVVM apps don't deal with at all. • Why ping another innet machine from MacBook get netgate's ip address?

  I have three machine in my home network connected by a wireless router. One is server installed linux at 192.168.1.1, another is Thinkpad with MS Windows XP at 192.168.1.2, last one is MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.6.3 at 192.168.1.3. When I ping the Linux Server from Thinkpad (MS Windows XP) I can get the correct ip address, but when I ping it from Mac I get the global address of my router, like 61.135.181.175. Could you tell me why this happen? And how do I get same ping result on Mac and Windows. Thanks

  Ran into this problem today, posting in case someone else has the same issue. var execBtn = document.createElement('input'); execBtn.setAttribute("type", "button"); execBtn.setAttribute("id", "execBtn"); execBtn.setAttribute("value", "Execute"); execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", "runCommand();"); Turns out to get IE to run an onclick on a dynamically generated element, we can't use setAttribute. Instead, we need to set the onclick property on the object with an anonymous function wrapping the code we want to run. execBtn.onclick = function() { runCommand() }; BAD IDEAS: You can do execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", function() { runCommand() }); but it will break in IE in non-standards mode according to @scunliffe. You can't do this at all execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", runCommand() ); because it executes immediately, and sets the result of runCommand() to be the onClick attribute value, nor can you do execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", runCommand);

• Why is Read-Modify-Write necessary for registers on embedded systems?

  I was reading http://embeddedgurus.com/embedded-bridge/2010/03/different-bit-types-in-different-registers/, which said: With read/write bits, firmware sets and clears bits when needed. It typically first reads the register, modifies the desired bit, then writes the modified value back out and I have run into that consrtuct while maintaining some production code coded by old salt embedded guys here. I don't understand why this is necessary. When I want to set/clear a bit, I always just or/nand with a bitmask. To my mind, this solves any threadsafe problems, since I assume setting (either by assignment or oring with a mask) a register only takes one cycle. On the other hand, if you first read the register, then modify, then write, an interrupt happening between the read and write may result in writing an old value to the register. So why read-modify-write? Is it still necessary?

  In SICP exercise 2.26, this Scheme code is given: (define x (list 1 2 3)) (define y (list 4 5 6)) Then this cons call is given: (cons x y) I expected a pair of lists would result, ((1 2 3) (4 5 6)) but the interpreter gives, ((1 2 3) 4 5 6) ...a list with 4 elements, the first being a list. Why is y treated differently? I've tried looking up other SICP answers for an explanation, but couldn't find something satisfactory. So could any Scheme/Lisp experts please shed some light on this aspect of cons? Thanks in advance for any insight.

What I'm doing, is when information at one level is missing, taking the information from a level below it, to building the missing list, in the level above. By the way, if I am able to do the described step, I will need to do the following: sudo python setup.py install And I have no system-administrator-rights. Do I still have a chance to install MySQLdb? Thank you.

• ASP.NET MVC download image rather than display in browser

  Rather than displaying a PNG in the browser window, I'd like the action result to trigger the file download dialogue box (you know the open, save as, etc). I can get this to work with the code below using an unknown content type, but the user then has to type in .png at the end of the file name. • multiple occurences of HandleCreated for a single control

  I’m using control that needs to be register to asynchronous events. The events will be raised in the UI thread using the ISynchronizeInvoke interface implemented by WinForms controls I can’t register to the event at the constructor because it will allow calling the event handler before the control is fully created. during which calls to ISynchronizeInvoke are not allowed. Solution to that problem is to use the perform the asynchronous event registration from an event handler to the HandleCreated instead of registering from the constructor. however, this poses another issue, in some scenations the HandleCreated event is raised multiple times as result of change at the control state. For example, each changing of the “RightToLeft” property causes a WMCreate message that cause raising the “HandleCreated” event. How can I prevent the multiply times of event rising? Is there is another way to know when the control is created and display for the first time? I can keep a boolean flag in the HandleCreated, however it feels like a hack and I am wondering if there is a better way to handle this issue.

• How to store or share live data between PHP Requests?

  Hi, I want to start a project for facebook and the application will be like real-time multiplayer chess game. The problem I'm having is I have no idea how to store the data when a player moves one piece and update the new position in player2 browser. I'm gonna use PHP, MySQL for server side and jQuery for Client Rendering. The simplest idea is to store the data in XML or MySQL and re-generate the result to player2 browser. But I know that when thousand of players are playing, it will not be an efficient way. Since I don't have time to study new language for this project, I'm gonna have to stick with PHP. I'm not going to use flash either because I want my client side light-weight and flash-free. So is there any way that will solve my problems?
