  • How do Apple code level support requests work?

    - by JustinXXVII
I'm having an issue with a build that I can't figure out, and I'm considering filing a support request. It says I'll get contacted in about 3 days usually. Can anyone explain the process this takes, because I don't want to burn one of these by screwing up! Should I include a zip file of my entire project, or will the source file I'm having issues with be enough? Do I have to be at my computer when they contact me? Thanks for your help, generous ones!

  • How should I properly format this code?

    - by ct2k7
Hi, I've a small issue here. I am using an if statement with UIAlertView and I have two situations, both result in UIAlertViews. However, in one situation, I want to dismiss just the UIAlertView, the other, I want the UIAlertView to be dismissed and view to return to root view. This code describes is: if([serverOutput isEqualToString:@"login.true"]){ [Alert dismissWithClickedButtonIndex:0 animated:YES]; [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; UIAlertView *success = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Success" message:@"The transaction was a success!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil, nil]; [success show]; [success release]; } else { UIAlertView *failure = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Failure" message:@"The transaction failed. Contact sales operator!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil, nil]; [failure show]; [failure release]; } } -(void)alertView: (UIAlertView *)success clickedButtonAtIndex: (NSInteger)buttonIndex{ switch(buttonIndex) { case 0: { [self.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } } } So, in both cases, they follow the above action, but obviously, that's not what I want. Any ideas on what I do here?

  • Custom UITableView headerView disappears after memory warning

    - by psychotik
I have a UITableViewController. I create a custom headerView for it's tableView in the loadView method like so: (void)loadView { [super loadView]; UIView* containerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, width, height * 2 )]; containerView.tag = 'cont'; containerView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleLeftMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleRightMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleTopMargin; UIButton* button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; button.frame = CGRectMake(padding, height, width, height); ... //configure UIButton and events UIImageView* imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"image.png"] highlightedImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"highlight.png"]]; imageView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, width, height ); ... //configure UIImageView [containerView addSubview:button]; [containerView addSubview:imageView]; self.tableView.tableHeaderView = containerView; [imageView release]; [containerView release]; } None of the other methods (viewDidLoad/Unload, etc) are overloaded. This controller is hosted in a tab. When I switch to another tab and simulate a memory warning, and then come back to this tab, my UITableView is missing my custon header. All the rows/section are visible as I would expect. Putting a BP in the loadView code above, I see it being invoked when I switch back to the tab after the memory warning, and yet I can't actually see the header. Any ideas about what I'm missing here? EDIT: This happens on the device and the simulator. On the device, I just let a memory warning occur by opening a bunch of different apps while mine is in the background.

  • How can I make my tableview enter editing mode?

    - by Jake
Hi, for some reason I can't get my tableview to enter editing mode. It's a little harder than it might seem because I'm using some open source code to make a calendar (iCal esque) with a tableview under it, and it's not quite as straightforward as just using a regular tableview. Basically, I have two classes. One (let's say Class A) is a UIViewController and the other (Class B) is that viewController's datasource and tableview delegate. In Class B, I've implemented -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath; which works fine, but if I put an edit nav bar item in Class A (the view controller), nothing happens. Am I forgetting certain protocols, or certain special methods that I need to write? Thanks for any help, and apologies if I'm missing something, I'm just learning to work with other people's code.

  • Problem of Sprites and labels are displayed by white boxes.

    - by srikanth rongali
I am writing a game in cocos2d. I am using a function restartDirector in AppDelegate class. -(void)restartDirector{ [[CCDirector sharedDirector] end]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] release]; if( ! [CCDirector setDirectorType:CCDirectorTypeDisplayLink] ) [CCDirector setDirectorType:CCDirectorTypeDefault]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setPixelFormat:kPixelFormatRGBA8888]; [CCTexture2D setDefaultAlphaPixelFormat:kTexture2DPixelFormat_RGBA8888]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setAnimationInterval:1.0/60]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setDisplayFPS:YES]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setDeviceOrientation:CCDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] attachInView:window]; } This function I called in one of the game Scene . -(void)PracticeMethod:(id)sender { [MY_DELEGATE restartDirector]; CCScene *endPageScene = [CCScene node]; CCLayer *endPageLayer = [DummyScene node]; [endPageScene addChild:endPageLayer]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] runWithScene:endPageScene]; // [[CCDirector sharedDirector] replaceScene:endPageScene]; } When used the replaceScene, there is no problem in game but the memory of abject allocation is high(I checked in leaks tool). So I used runWithScene. But , while using these when the scene DummyScene is loaded the sprites, labels in it are displayed by white boxes. I cannot see the sprites and labels. If I am using replaceScene everything thing is working fine but the memory allocation is high. this is my problem. Thank you.

  • pull down notification panel in iOS help for iPad

    - by Priya Chhabra
I have developed an iPad application. In which I am using left/right swipes from corner of screen. The problem is when device is in landscape mode, (though the application is always in portrait orientation) and user wants to swipe left, it opens the notification panel instead of going to swipeAction that I had defined. Note that it works fine when device is kept in portrait mode. Is there any way to make pull down notification panel application orientation specific ? Any kind of help will be appreciated.

  • Is it true that one should not use NSLog() on production code?

    - by jpm
I was told this a few times in this very site, but I wanted to make sure this is really the case. I was expecting to be able to sprinkle NSLog function calls throughout my code, and that Xcode/gcc would automatically strip those calls out when building my Release/Distribution builds. Should I avoid using this? If so, what alternatives are most common between experienced Objective-C programmers?

  • Getting a UIImage from MySQL using PHP and jSON

    - by Daniel
I'm developing a little news reader that retrieves the info from a website by doing a POST request to a URL. The response is a jSON object with the unread-news. E.g. the last news on the App has a timeStamp of "2013-03-01". When the user refreshes the table, it POSTS "domain.com/api/api.php?newer-than=2013-03-01". The api.php script goes to the MySQL database and fetches all the news posted after 2013-03-01 and prints them json_encoded. This is // do something to get the data in an array echo $array_of_fetched_data; for example the response would be [{"title": "new app is coming to the market", "text": "lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...", image: XXX}] the App then gets the response and parses it, obtaining an NSDictionary and adds it to a Core Data db. NSDictionary* obtainedNews = [NSJSONSerialization JSONObjectWithData:responseData options:kNilOptions error:&error]; My question is: How can I add an image to the MySQL database, store it, pass it using jSON trough a POST HTTP Request and then interpret it as an UIImage. It's clear that to store an UIImage in CoreData, they must be transform into/from NSData. How can I pass the NSData back and forth to a MySQL db using php and jSON? How should I upload the image to the db? (Serialized, as a BLOB, etc)

  • Releasing the keyboard stops shake events. Why?

    - by Moshe
    1) How do I make a UITextField resign the keyboard and hide it? The keyboard is in a dynamically created subview whose superview looks for shake events. Resigning first responder seems to break the shake event handler. 2) how do you make the view holding the keyboard transparent, like see through glass? I have seen this done before. This part has been taken care of thanks guys. As always, code samples are appreciated. I've added my own to help explain the problem. EDIT: Basically, - (void)motionBegan:(UIEventSubtype)motion withEvent:(UIEvent *)event; gets called in my main view controller to handle shaking. When a user taps on the "edit" icon (a pen, in the bottom of the screen - not the traditional UINavigationBar edit button), the main view adds a subview to itself and animates it on to the screen using a custom animation. This subview contains a UINavigationController which holds a UITableView. The UITableView, when a cell is tapped on, loads a subview into itself. This second subview is the culprit. For some reason, a UITextField in this second subview is causing problems. When a user taps on the view, the main view will not respond to shakes unless the UITextField is active (in editing mode?). Additional info: My Motion Event Handler: - (void)motionBegan:(UIEventSubtype)motion withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@"%@", [event description]); SystemSoundID SoundID; NSString *soundFile = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"shake" ofType:@"aif"]; AudioServicesCreateSystemSoundID((CFURLRef)[NSURL fileURLWithPath:soundFile], &SoundID); AudioServicesPlayAlertSound(SoundID); [self genRandom:TRUE]; } The genRandom: Method: /* Generate random label and apply it */ -(void)genRandom:(BOOL)deviceWasShaken{ if(deviceWasShaken == TRUE){ decisionText.text = [NSString stringWithFormat: (@"%@", [shakeReplies objectAtIndex:(arc4random() % [shakeReplies count])])]; }else{ SystemSoundID SoundID; NSString *soundFile = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"string" ofType:@"aif"]; AudioServicesCreateSystemSoundID((CFURLRef)[NSURL fileURLWithPath:soundFile], &SoundID); AudioServicesPlayAlertSound(SoundID); decisionText.text = [NSString stringWithFormat: (@"%@", [pokeReplies objectAtIndex:(arc4random() % [pokeReplies count])])]; } } shakeReplies and pokeReplies are both NSArrays of strings. One is used for when a certain part of the screen is poked and one is for when the device is shaken. The app will randomly choose a string from the NSArray and display onscreen. For those of you who work graphically, here is a diagram of the view hierarchy: Root View -> UINavigationController -> UITableView -> Edit View -> Problem UITextfield

  • I want to get the value from one class (SearchTableViewController.m) to another class (HistoryTableV

But i can not bring the selected item from SearchTableViewController.m to the class (HistoryTableViewController.m) The problem is : I can hold one of the selected items in an array (named deneme)from table in SearchTableViewController.m but i can not take it to HistoryTableViewController.m. It prints nil in console screen.... If I can make it visible in History class, I display those selected items on table. Please help me !!!

  • Animate cell within a table

    - by amok
That's what I have: - A table with a few rows, one column only What I am trying to accomplish: Double tap on any row should produce an animation of the cell. The animation that I want is a flip vertically of the row. I am displaying some data in each row and what I want to do is displaying the source of the data "on the back" of the row, so to speak. Is it possible? If yes, how?

  • Cocos2d - smooth sprite movement in tile map RPG

    - by Lendo92
I've been working on a 2-D Gameboy style RPG for a while now, and the game logic is mostly all done so I'm starting to try to make things look good. One thing I've noticed is that the walking movement / screen movement is a little bit choppy. Technically, it should work fine, but either it seems to be having some quirks, either due to taking up a lot of processing power or just timing inconsistencies between moving the screen and moving the sprite. To move the sprite, once I know where I want to move it, I call: tempPos.y += 3*theHKMap.tileSize.width/5; id actionMove = [CCMoveTo actionWithDuration:0.1 position:tempPos]; id actionMoveDone = [CCCallFuncN actionWithTarget:self selector:@selector(orientOneMove)]; [guy runAction:[CCSequence actions:actionMove, actionMoveDone, nil]]; [self setCenterOfScreen:position]; Then, in orientOneMove, I call: [self.guy setTexture:[[CCTextureCache sharedTextureCache] addImage:@"guysprite07.png"]]; //the walking picture-I change texture back at the end of the movement id actionMove = [CCMoveTo actionWithDuration:0.15 position:self.tempLocation2]; id actionMoveDone = [CCCallFuncN actionWithTarget:self selector:@selector(toggleTouchEnabled)]; [guy runAction:[CCSequence actions:actionMove, actionMoveDone, nil]]; The code for the concurrently running setCenterOfScreen:position method is: id actionMove = [CCMoveTo actionWithDuration:0.25 position:difference]; [self runAction: [CCSequence actions:actionMove, nil, nil]]; So the setCenterOfScreen moves the camera in one clean move while the guy moving is chopped into two actions to animate it (which I believe might be inefficient.) It's hard to tell what is making the movement not perfectly clean from looking at it, but essentially the guy isn't always perfectly in the center of the screen -- during movement, he's often times a pixel or two off for an instant. Any ideas/ solutions?

  • how to set a tableview delegate

    - by dubbeat
Hi, I'm trying to use a tableview without using a nib and without using a UITableViewController. I have added a UITableView instance to a UIViewController Like So mytable = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(22, 207, 270, 233)]; [mytable setDelegate:self]; [self.view mytable]; Also I have added the following table view methods to my UIViewController (cut for brevities sake) - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { I am getting a warning saying that my UIViewController does not implement UITableView delegate protocol. Whats the correct way to tell the table view where its delegate methods are? (This is my first attempt at trying to use a UITableView without selecting the UITableTableview controller from the new file options)

  • Localizing other pages in Settings.bundle

    - by joneswah
I have other pages within my app preferences which are stored as separate files within the settings.bundle. It has come time to localize my app and I can only seem to get the Root values to localize. I was wondering whether there was a trick? The following image shows that my second screen is stored within a file called "MyPrefs.plist" and I have created a corresponding named file "MyPrefs.strings" in the en.lproj directory. Mirroring the same naming and location as the Root.plist and Root.strings. The values with the Root.plist are converted as expected but not in the extra screen. Is there any trick to localizing secondary screens with the settings.bundle?

I am trying to compare the current url in webView with a defined url say google.com so in theory.. NSURLRequest *currentRequest = [webView request]; NSURL *currentURL = [currentRequest URL]; would give us our current url... NSString *newurl = @"http://www.google.com"; this would give us the compared to defined url while (!currentURL == newurl) { //do whatever here because currentURL does not equal the newurl } This does not seem to work though.. solutions?

  • Push notification not received in ios5 device

    - by Surender Rathore
I am sending push notification on device which has iOS 5.0.1, but notification is not received on iOS5 device. If i try to send notification on iOS4.3.3 device, it received on this device. My server is developed in c# and apple push notification certificate is used in .p12 format. • How to add an extra plist property using CMake?

    - by Jesse Beder
I'm trying to add the item <key>UIStatusBarHidden</key><true/> to my plist that's auto-generated by CMake. For certain keys, it appears there are pre-defined ways to add an item; for example: set(MACOSX_BUNDLE_ICON_FILE ${ICON}) But I can't find a way to add an arbitrary property. I tried using the MACOSX_BUNDLE_INFO_PLIST target property as follows: I'd like the resulting plist to be identical to the old one, except with the new property I want, so I just copied the auto-generated plist and set that as my template. But the plist uses some Xcode variables, which also look like ${foo}, and CMake grumbles about this: Syntax error in cmake code when parsing string <string>com.bedaire.${PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}</string> syntax error, unexpected cal_SYMBOL, expecting } (47) Policy CMP0010 is not set: Bad variable reference syntax is an error. Run "cmake --help-policy CMP0010" for policy details. Use the cmake_policy command to set the policy and suppress this warning. This warning is for project developers. Use -Wno-dev to suppress it. In any case, I'm not even sure that this is the right thing to do. I can't find a good example or any good documentation about this. Ideally, I'd just let CMake generate everything as before, and just add a single extra line. What can I do?
