• Publish web application from MSBuild Script using VS2010 targets resets working directory

  I am trying to automatically publish and deploy my .Net 4 web application automatically from a build script to be run by our continuous integration server. I am using the new _WPPCopyWebApplication target from VS2010 to perform the publish, however it appears to reset the current working directory of the msbuild project to c:\ this causes my prebuild steps to fail as they have relative paths to some external tools. The task I am running from our master.build file is as follows: <Target Name="PublishWeb"> <MSBuild Projects="$(ProjectPath)" Targets="ResolveReferences;_WPPCopyWebApplication" Properties="WebProjectOutputDir=$(DeployPath);OutDir=$(TempOutputFolder)$(WebOutputFolder)\;OutputPath=$(ProjectPath)\bin\Debug;" /> </Target> This does not happen when using the legacy _CopyWebApplication. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this problem?

  I have read this article about 400% boost of your website. This is done by a combination of nginx and memcached. The how-to part of this website is quite good, but i mis the part where it says to what types of websites this applies. I know nginx is a http engine, I need no explanation for that. I thought memcached had something to do with caching database result. However i don't understand what this has to do with the http request, can someone please explain that to me. Another question I have is for what types of websites is this used. I have a website where the important part of the website consist of data that changes often. Often being minutes. Will this method still apply to me, or should I just stick with the basic boring setup of apache and nothing else.

  Hi, I have developed an application for iPhone and iPod touch. Now i want to install that app on the device. I have created a provisioning profile for the particular device. My query is that, now to install the app on a device I have to add the provisioning profile of that device to xcode and after selecting the developer in build option in project info pane i build the project and send the build and provisioning profile to the user. Is there any to install the app without doing the above task of building the project with the provisioning profile. Means i have a build of an app and a newly downloaded provisioning profile. I will send the user both build and profile in a zip file. will the user be able to install the app on his/her device?

• how to use expressons as function parameters in powershell

  This is a very simple task in every language I have ever used, but I can't seem to figure it out in PowerShell. An example of what I'm talking about in C: abs(x + y) The expression x + y is evaluated, and the result passed to abs as the parameter... how do I do that in PowerShell? The only way I have figured out so far is to create a temporary variable to store the result of the expression, and pass that. PowerShell seems to have very strange grammar and parsing rules that are constantly catching me by surprise, just like this situation. Does anyone know of documentation or a tutorial that explains the basic underlying theory of the language? I can't believe these are all special cases, there must be some rhyme or reason that no tutorial I have yet read explains. And yes, I've read this question, and all of those tutorials are awful. I've pretty much been relegated to learning from existing code.

  I am trying to implement a filter using the component TAdvStringGrid. My requirement is that I want the first row of this component to be editable when double clicked, so that the user can filter data. Borland C++ Builder is used to help achieve this task. I found this event OnCanEditCell. TCanEditCellEvent = procedure (Sender:TObject;Arow,Acol:longint;var canedit:boolean) of object; Within this function I've set canedit = true. This doesn't seem to work. Probably I need to do something more. I am new to Windows and GUI development. So any help would be great. Do I need to call this function from the OnDblClickCell event? • Open Safari from within Opera Mini on the iPhone

  Now that Opera Mini is becoming so popular in the App store I want to effectively warn my web site visitors that the rendition they see in Opera Mini is far from what I meant them to see and redirect them to my page in Mobile Safari, so they can enjoy HTML5 and CSS3. I've been banging my head around that task all day long, but I can't seem to find a solution. My hope lies in the custom URL schemes, but seems Opera Mini handles all schemes which usually Safari does. Would be great if there's a scheme like safari://www.domain.com which opens ONLY in Safari, so I can redirect the visitors to it. Does anybody know a solution to that problem? --edit Just to make myself clear - browser detection is not the problem (I'm doing Javascript for 13 years now) the question is if there's a way to invoke the Safari app on the iPhone from within a web page which is being viewed in Opera Mini.

  In order to create a “destination” auto filter input field on our website, I need a data source that provides a hierarchical data set of Region, Country, County/State, City and Town (plus an area like the Peak District National Park if at all possible) I know sites like Trip Advisor and Facebook seem to have very robust datasets for this. When you type, it brings up a match list with the hierarchy displayed (e.g. if you type Boston you get 6 results as there are multiply places called Boston – the hierarchy allows you to pick the correct option) There are many data sources out there but they either lack hierarchy or do not seem to be easily updatable or complete. I had expected this to be an easy task given the amount of site that have a destination or location autofill field. However, i cannot find a datasource or method that works. any help would be much appreciated. Tks,

The process will be: there is upload screen via paperclip to the rails local public folder a hourly task to upload to web storage (S3?) update the download url from paperclip url to the web url Questions: is there a gem/plug-in for this purpose? if no, any gem/plug-in for S3 to recommend?   Hi guys, I'm here to ask you the difference between a process and a thread in linux. I know that a thread for linux is just a "task", which shares with the father process things that they need to have in common (the address space and other important informations). I also know that the two are creating calling the same function ('clone()'), but there's still something that I'm missing: what really happens when a thread exit? What function is called inside the linux kernel? I know that when a process exits calls the do_exit function, but here or somewhere else there should be a way to understand if it is just a thread exiting or a whole process. Can you explain me this thing or redirect to some textbook?? I tried 'Understanding the linux kernel' but I was not satisfied with it. I'm asking this thing because a need to add things to the task_struct struct, but I need to discriminate how to manage those informations for a process and its children. Thank you.

• jQuery 1.4.2 - Ajax & increasing IE 8 Process Handles

  Hi, I'm requesting every second some data over $.ajax. $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "ServiceEndpointUrl", data: "", success: function(result) { ... Do Work ... } } } } }); This code leads into an continuous growing number of handles in IE 8 (Windows 7 / verified with Task Manager & Process Explorer). Firefox & Chrome does not have this problem. This page is displayed all day long - this leads into thousands of handles & will sometimes crash the complete browser. My workaround is to reload the complete page every hour - but this can't be the solution ;-) Any suggestions how to "close" these Ajax-Handles? thx

  Let's assume I have a table with field of type VARCHAR. And I need to get data from that table sorted alphabetically by that field. What is the best way (for performance): add sort by field to the SQL-query or sort the data when it's already fetched? I'm using Java (with Hibernate), but I can't tell anything about DB engine.   Using MySql 5, I have a task where I need to update one table based on the contents of another table. For example, I need to add 'A1' to table 'A' if table 'B' contains 'B1'. I need to add 'A2a' and 'A2b' to table 'A' if table 'B' contains 'B2', etc.. In our case, the value in table 'B' we're interested is an enum. Right now I have a stored procedure containing a series of statements like: INSERT INTO A SELECT 'A1' FROM B WHERE B.Value = 'B1'; --Repeat for 'B2' -> 'A2a', 'A2b'; 'B3' -> 'A3', etc... Is there a nicer more DRY way of accomplishing this?

  I'm looking for the most suitable class to be a dispatcher for AsyncTasks invoked from my Activities. I think it could be one of these: subclass of Application; subclass of Service; my own static stuff. As for me - it's simlier to implement the 3rd choice. But the question is will it be more "death-resistant" than Service or Application? Also it's very interesting what will live longer - Application or Service? My guess is the Application lives as long as the app (task in terms of Android) process lives. So basically I need to range those options by their "death-resistant" quality, because I'd like to rely on the most "static" thing.

  I use Netbeans IDE (6.5) and I have a SQLite 2.x database. I installed a JDBC SQLite driver from zentus.com and added a new driver in Nebeans services panel.   In the documentation on AsyncTask it gives the following as a rule related to threading: The task can be executed only once (an exception will be thrown if a second execution is attempted.) All this means is that you have to create a new instance of the class every time you want to use it, right? In other words, it must be done like this: new DownloadFilesTask().execute(url1, url2, url3); new DownloadFilesTask().execute(url4, url5, url6); Or conversely, you can NOT do the following: DownloadFilesTask dfTask = new DownloadFilesTask(); dfTask().execute(url1, url2, url3); dfTask().execute(url4, url5, url6); Can someone verify this is an accurate interpretation? I realize I pretty much just answered this for myself as I was typing this out... But it wasn't immediately obvious to me so I think this would be useful to have posted nonetheless.
