  I need help with sending a formatted text to a printer using Ruby on Ruby on Rails OR sending a pdf file to a printer from Ruby program. I can write the code to create a pdf file from Rails app but don't know how to print that pdf file to a default printer. I am trying to write a small ticketing application with Ruby on Rails.   in a file, i have used m-x ucs-insert to insert a hex character 9e (which in emacs shows up as \236). however, when this is read in by the C program, 9e is becoming 0x9ec2. Where is this c2 coming from and how do i get rid of it??

  I have the following syntax in the .cmd file, where PathList is console application with .exe as extension. cd D:\Sample D: PathList 2> file.txt This syntax works fine if the file is saved with .bat as extension, but if save it with .cmd extension it throws error saying 'PathList' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Please can i know what is the issue with saving it with .cmd extension

  I'm writing a program in .NET that will need to utilize the statistical and data analysis functions of R or MATLAB. I have used R but am now contemplating moving to MATLAB since it has a .Net compiler while R can only interface via COM objects. Can anyone recommend going either way? I know MATLAB is infinitely more expensive than R (since R is free) but I'm thinking that may translate to an easier development cycle?
