• How do you define the default groups in active directory for new users?

  When I create a new user it puts them in domain users. I have other groups that I wish were there that I have to go back and put them in. How can I add those to be the default in active directory? Thank you.

• Get folders from my msn account onto outlook

  I have my msn email account setup with a bunch of folders to put all my different emails in. I don't use rules, just drag and drop sort. On my current computer, I have it go to outlook, and all the folders pop up fine. But I set that up 4 years ago, and now I'm setting up a new laptop and have no idea how to get it going again. • Browser displays 'Apache is functioning normally' when I enter 'http://you/' in the location bar

  I am on a Mac and when I enter http://you/ in the location bar, it displays 'Apache is functioning normally' no matter which browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) I am using. Is this normal? Or could it be that my computer is hacked in some way and is now acting as a server for the hackers? EDIT: I originally wanted to go to the youtube.com, but entered http://you/ by accident and found out this strange behavior.

In the new Metro Start Menu, the username context menu allows me to lock the Computer or log out - but not Change the Password. Yes, I can go through user Management, but this is not something I want People to do ;)

  I know in TextMate I can go to preferences - advanced - folder references and play with the regex pattern to remove certain types of files and folders by default. I heard that if you have an existing project, however, and chance these, the project is not affected. From a similar but different angle, I am interested to know if I can exclude certain types of files, say anything named "index.html" from an existing project while not changing the global scope. • Solution to tack things up on top or to the side of a monitor

  I'm trying to find some sort of product that would either go on the top or the side of an lcd monitor and give me space to tape/push-pin/post it note things for myself. For random notes and things I want to keep track of, having them on the top/side of my monitor would keep the space on my desk itself clear, and they would be closer to my field of vision.   I am considering retiring some of our older OpenDJ LDAP servers and replacing with OpenLDAP. (seems to be more widely supported) I am wondering if it's possible to replicate directly from OpenDJ to OpenLDAP as an interim solution to remove the OpenDJ slaves and then flip the master over later. Is LDAP replication implementation specific or more general? I guess I'll have to just go give it a try, but I was looking for advice from someone who's been down this road.

• Duplicate mails in unread mail view of Windows Live Mail

  When I get new mail and go to the "unread email" quick view I always see two version of the email, even though I definitely have only one such version in the inbox itself. Further, viewing the message via inbox usually marks only one of these copies as read, or sometimes none at all. I have no custom filters defined that could cause duplication. Any idea what's going on? PS This is the new version (2011).

  I have a list (e.g., a bulleted list) in Microsoft Word. This list is inside a table cell. When I press Tab to increase the indent, rather than increasing the indent, it moves the cursor to the next cell. When I try Ctrl+Tab, it just inserts a tab character without changing the indentation of the bullet (paragraph). How can I turn this off, so it does not go to the next cell but rather just indents the list?

• ssh sessions in xterms freeze for many minutes whenever they disconnect

  If I ssh to a remote machine and then lose internet connectivity, the session freezes. I can't control-c or otherwise abort and go back to my local xterm or terminal prompt but if I wait several minutes it will do so. There must be some way to force it to abort the remote ssh session when connectivity is lost. I'm on a Mac but I believe this happens on cygwin or linux as well.

  Is there a way to set windows 2008 file and folder sharing permission so you only get prompted for a password on certain shares? That is, right now, when I got to \theserver\ I get prompted for a password despite having some shared folders that permit anonymous access. Is there a way, asides from setting the policy sharing model to guest rather than Classic to allow a user from a non-domain pc to go to \theserver\ and see the shares and permit him or her to enter a folder with anonymous access without having to enter a username or password?
