  • What are the exact versions of stuff you have to install in order to be able to step-debug a Scala p

    - by Alex R
How do YOU debug a Scala program? I mean YOU as in the person posting the Answer :) Please answer only from personal experience, not from stuff you've heard or read on the Internet. You should not believe everything you read on the Internet, especially tales of complex open-source software configurations that actually work :-) The are many Java tools which claim to support Scala in some way or another, but I have so far struck out in trying to get any one of them to actually let me set a breakpoint in Scala code and step through it. These are big, major open-source IDEs I'm talking about here. The main problem in getting a debugger to work seems to be the "version hell" with fast-changing IDEs, Plug-Ins, JDKs, and the Scala language itself. Hence, the more detailed re-statement of the question is appropriate: What is the exact version number of the IDE, Plug-In, JDK, Scala, and even Operating System, that you are successfully using? My question is related to this one, but wider in scope: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2272705/how-to-debug-scala-code-when-outside-of-an-ide Thanks

  • Line for signature in markdown

    - by JBarberU
I'm writing a document using markdown, which I'm exporting to a PDF using pandoc. At the end of the document I need to have space for signatures on a printed copy of the PDF. I've tried to find how to draw a line with a fixed width, but so far I only got to escaping the underscore character, which doesn't feel quite right. It's as if I'm missing something, this couldn't possibly be that unusual to want to do. Any help or pointers are greatly appreciated.

  • How do I effectively write to 146 output files in C++ using cstdlib library

    - by Elpezmuerto
I have a very large binary file and I need to create separate files based on the id within the input file. There are 146 output files and I am using cstdlib and fopen and fwrite. FOPEN_MAX is 20, so I can't keep all 146 output files open at the same time. I also want to minimize the number of times I open and close an output file. How can I write to the output files effectively? I also must use the cstdlib library due to legacy code.

  • HTTP Download very Big File

    - by Luca
I'm working at a web application in Python/Twisted. I want the user to be able to download a very big file ( 100 Mb). I don't want to load all the file in memory (of the server), of course. server side I have this idea: ... request.setHeader('Content-Type', 'text/plain') fp = open(fileName, 'rb') try: r = None while r != '': r = fp.read(1024) request.write(r) finally: fp.close() request.finish() I expected this to work, but I have problems: I'm testing with FF... It seems the browser make me wait until the file is completed downloaded, and then I have the open/save dialog box. I expected the dialog box immediately, and then the progress bar in action... Maybe I have to add something in the Http header... Something like the size of the file?

  • A good F# codebase to learn from

    - by Lucas
Hi all, I've been teaching myself F# for a while now. I've read Programming F# by Chris Smith (great book) and I've written a few small scripts for getting the job done here and there. But IMO the best way to learn a new programming language—and more importantly, the idioms that come with it—is to read a good open source codebase written in that language. Naturally, writing code in that language is crucial, but in the beginning, you're basically struggling with your own ignorance about how things should be done. You could perform certain tasks one way or the other, but it takes experience to realize the flaws and virtues of each. Even after you've gotten a firm grasp of how things work, reading the code of people who have an even firmer one helps a great deal. Most would agree that the most insightful parts of any learn-a-programming-language book are the code examples, and reading a well-written open source codebase is the next level of that. So are there any out there for F#?

  • Getting rid of index.php in the URL when using recess framework and lighttpd

    - by spudnik1979
I am using the recess php framework with lighttpd Does anyone know how I can use the shorter urls of: http://www.myserver.com/recess Instead of: http://www.myserver.com/index.php/recess The recess readme file says that if I have mod_rewrite I can use the shorter url: -- "Do you have mod_rewrite? -- Yes: Open your browser to the location you unzipped -- No: Open your browser to the location you unzipped followed by index.php" I do have mod_rewrite enabled on lighttpd and i have removed the index.php but I get a 404. Do I need any special rules in my lighttpd.conf?

  • How to check with PHP does a SQL database already have

    - by Dan Horvat
I've tried to find the answer to this question but none of the answers fit. I have two databases, one has 15.000.000 entries and I want to extract the necessary data and store it in a much smaller database with around 33.000 entries. Both databases are open at the same time. Or at least they should be. While having the big database open and extracting the entries from it, is it possible to check whether the value already exists in the smaller database? I just need some generic way which checks that.

  • Getting the responseText from XMLHttpRequest-Object

    - by Sammy46
    I wrote a cgi-script with c++ to return the query-string back to the requesting ajax object. I also write the query-string in a file in order to see if the cgi script works correctly. But when I ask in the html document for the response Text to be shown in a messagebox i get a blank message. here is my code: js: <script type = "text/javascript"> var XMLHttp; if(navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") { XMLHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } else { XMLHttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } function getresponse () { XMLHttp.open ("GET", "http://localhost/cgi-bin/AJAXTest?" + "fname=" + document.getElementById('fname').value + "&sname=" + document.getElementById('sname').value,true); XMLHttp.send(null); } XMLHttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if(XMLHttp.readyState == 4) { document.getElementById('response_area').innerHTML += XMLHttp.readyState; var x= XMLHttp.responseText alert(x) } } </script> First Names(s)<input onkeydown = "javascript: getresponse ()" id="fname" name="name"> <br> Surname<input onkeydown = "javascript: getresponse();" id="sname"> <div id = "response_area"> </div> C++: int main() { QFile log("log.txt"); if(!log.open(QIODevice::WriteOnly | QIODevice::Text)) { return 1; } QTextStream outLog(&log); QString QUERY_STRING= getenv("QUERY_STRING"); //if(QUERY_STRING!=NULL) //{ cout<<"Content-type: text/plain\n\n" <<"The Query String is: " << QUERY_STRING.toStdString()<< "\n"; outLog<<"Content-type: text/plain\n\n" <<"The Query String is: " <<QUERY_STRING<<endl; //} return 0; } I'm happy about every advice what to do! EDIT: the output to my logfile works just fine: Content-type: text/plain The Query String is: fname=hello&sname=world I just noticed that if i open it with IE8 i get the query-string. But only on the first "keydown" after that IE does nothing.
