• Integrating Fish eye with Jenkins

  Jenkins is up and running in my organization.In configure tab under Repository browser we have an option called fish eye.If I select fish eye as an repository browser it is asking the fish eye URL (such as http://fisheye6.cenqua.com/browse/ant/)My requirment is I need to fetch the reports such as (we would like to track the SVN to take chain change report, to give statistics on how many check-in happening in each code base, how many cut has been taken from each branches…etc ).We need to achieve all these things in Jenkins itself. For performing such things we need to setup the seperate fish eye server.If that is the case why we have the fish eye option in jenkins.We can perform all these activities in Fisheye instead of Jenkins. • Kohana 3 ORM limitations

  Hi, What are the limitations of Kohana 3 ORM regarding table relationships? I'm trying to modify the build-in Auth module in order to accept groups of users in adition, having now the following tables : groups groups_users roles roles_groups users user_tokens By default, this module is set to work without groups, and linking the users and roles using a third table named roles_users, but I need to add groups to it. I'm linking, as you can see by the names, the groups to users and the roles to groups, but I'm failing building the ORM code for it, so that's pretty much the question here, if ORM is limited to 2 relationships or if it can handle 3 in this case. • What happened to the TMP environment variable?

  I always heard that the proper way to find the temporary folder on a UNIX machine was to look at the TMP environment variable. When writing code that worked on Windows as well as Linux, I would check for TEMP and TMP. Today, I discovered that my Ubuntu install does not have that environment variable at all. I know it seems you can always count on /tmp being there to put your temporary files in, but I understood that TMP was the way the user could tell you to put the temporary files someplace else. Is that still the case?

• Maven2 compiles my tests, but doesn't run them

  I have a simple Maven2 project with tests written for TestNG. When I say mvn test Maven2 compiles my test, but don't run them. I already checked this page: http://maven.apache.org/general.html#test-property-name. This is not my case. Anybody can help?   (Followup to this question) After surviving the first wave of incoming shipments (9 hours of copy/paste), I now believe I have all the requirements. Here is the updated workflow: Monkey collects email attachments (4 Excel spreadsheets, 1 PDF) Monkey creates central database, does complex calculations (right now this is also an Excel spreadsheet) Monkey sends data to two bosses, who set the retail prices independently; first one to reply wins Monkey sends order form to our other warehouses, also Excel Monkey sends spreadsheets to VIP customers, carefully sanitized and formatted (4 different discount categories) Jurily enters the data into the accounting system. I've given up on automating this part, there's too much business logic involved, and the database is a pile of sh^W legacy My question: What technologies would you use for a quick and dirty solution? I'm mostly sold on C#, but coming from a Linux/C++ background, I'm horribly confused about my choices in Microsoft-land. For bonus points: How would you redesign the whole system from the ground up? P.S. in case you were wondering, my job title is System Administrator.

  Is RDF still used widely for content syndication? Specifically, I know only of Slashdot as a large scale website syndicating content in that format (say versus RSS). Understandably this might seem vague to answer so more specifically: Can anyone list any larger sites similar in scale to Amazon or CNN using it? Any web based publishing platforms (Wordpress, Joomla, etc...) that generate syndication feeds with this xml vocabulary. Any other more quantifiable evidence that it is used for syndication online. I understand that RDF may be a parent specification but in this case I'm talking about sites that syndicate content using <rdf as a root element and heavily leveraging elements from the RDF namespace: http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#

• JavaFX Threading issue - GUI freezing while method call ran.

  Hi everyone, I hoped someone might be able to help as I'm a little stumped. I have a javafx class which runs a user interface, which includes a button to read some text out loud. When you press it, it invokes a Java object which uses the FreeTTS java speech synth to read out loud a String, which all works fine. The problem is, when the speech is being read out, the program stops completely until its completed. I'm not an expert on threaded applications, but I understand that usually if I extend the Thread class, and provided my implementation of the speech synth code inside an overridden run method, when I call start on the class it "should" create a new Thread, and run this code there, allowing the main thread which has the JavaFX GUI on to continue as normal. Any idea why this isn't the case? Thanks a lot in advance!

  If you ask a DB2/zOS engine DBA a question about DB2's behavior, the DBA will refer to the DB2 engine as "he" much the way a sailor uses "she" to refer to his ship. For example: "Once you fill the freespace, DB2 still wants to keep those rows in cluster order in the tablespace. That's why he'll split that page in half, and you end up with lots of half-empty pages. That is, unless the cluster key of the row you've just inserted is the highest in the table, in which case he makes a new empty page, and he puts just your new row into that page. So I wouldn't have to do this REORG if you would just sort your input like I suggested." Does anyone know where this tradition comes from?

• How to determine which class has called a function

  Hi, I am working on a Flex Front End at the moment, and have been using the Parsley framework for passing messages/events around. I was wondering if there is a simple way for a function (in this case, an event's constructor) to obtain a reference to the object which called it? This is to ensure that a certain event that I am defining can only be dispatched by one specified class. My thinking is to check the caller of the constructor somehow, and throw an error if it is not of the correct type. I am open to suggestions of alternative approaches here, but I would ideally like to stick to using the Parsley 'MessageHandler' approach if at all possible. Thanks for reading guys..

  hey, i saw this on a site a couple of days ago and i cant seem to find it again. in any case, this is what was on the site: the page opened regularly when you entered the url. upon clicking one of the links on the page, it "transitioned" to the next page (there was a color change). and the url in the address bar was changed to reflect that. eg: if the background was blue on site.com, when clicking on the about link, the background would change to green and the browser would show site.com/about. and so on. also, if the url entered was site.com/about, the bg would be green and on cliking the home page, the site would transition from green to blue and browser would show site.com im interested in finding out how this was done. searching on google got me the meta-refresh tag, but the ffect was much more complex and worked on all browsers. is there any other method out there?

• In Haskell, how can you sort a list of infinite lists of strings?

  So basically, if I have a (finite or infinite) list of (finite or infinite) lists of strings, is it possible to sort the list by length first and then by lexicographic order, excluding duplicates? A sample input/output would be: Input: [["a", "b",...], ["a", "aa", "aaa"], ["b", "bb", "bbb",...], ...] Output: ["a", "b", "aa", "bb", "aaa", "bbb", ...] I know that the input list is not a valid haskell expression but suppose that there is an input like that. I tried using merge algorithm but it tends to hang on the inputs that I give it. Can somebody explain and show a decent sorting function that can do this? If there isn't any function like that, can you explain why? In case somebody didn't understand what I meant by the sorting order, I meant that shortest length strings are sorted first AND if one or more strings are of same length then they are sorted using < operator.   I have a save function for my order entity that looks like this and it breaks on the sumbmitChanges line: public void SaveOrder ( Order order ) { if (order.OrderId == 0) orderTable.InsertOnSubmit(order); else if (orderTable.GetOriginalEntityState(order) == null) { orderTable.Attach(order); orderTable.Context.Refresh(RefreshMode.KeepCurrentValues , order); } orderTable.Context.SubmitChanges(); } The order entity contains two other entities; an Address entity and a credit card entity. Now i want these two entities to be null sometimes. Now my guess for why this is throwing an error is because that both of these entites that are inside order are null. If this is the case, How can I insert an new order into the database with both entities (Address and creditCard) being null.

• How to debug CSS/Javascript hover issues

  I often find myself wanting to debug CSS layout issues that involve DOM changes caused by Javascript in reaction to a hover event or different CSS rules applying due to the :hover selector. Normally, I'd use Firebug to inspect the element that's giving me trouble and see what its CSS properties were, and where those properties come from. However, when hovering is involved, it becomes impossible, because as soon as you move your mouse down to the Firebug panel, the elements you're interested in are no longer hovered, the CSS rules that apply are different, and (in the case of JS hovers) the DOM is changed. Is there any way I can "freeze" the state of the DOM and application of :hover in order to inspect the DOM as it was during a hover event? Any other ideas on how to debug this sort of issue are welcome, of course.

  Hey there! I'm having a bit of trouble here and I was hoping someone throws me a hint :) I'm getting some GET VARS with JS but I have trouble with non-latin charsets: cyrillic for example. The cyrillic var appears correct in the url but when I retrieve it with JS I get some dummy string. I was wondering of a function similar to "unescape" for such a case. Alternatively, if someone knows a way I could convert a cyrillic string to the same dummy string I get from the URL, it will still do me the trick, since all I need is compare. :) Thanks! Martin

• MQ Connection - 2009 error

  am connectting the MQ with below code. I am able connected to MQ successfully. My case is i place the messages to MQ every 1 min once. After disconnecting the cable i get a ResonCode error but IsConnected property still show true. Is this is the right way to check if the connection is still connected ? Or there any best pratcices around that. • ASP.NET MVC Session usage

  Currently I am using ViewData or TempData for object persistance in my ASP.NET MVC application. However in a few cases where I am storing objects into ViewData through my base controller class, I am hitting the database on every request (when ViewData["whatever"] == null). It would be good to persist these into something with a longer lifespan, namely session. Similarly in an order processing pipeline, I don't want things like Order to be saved to the database on creation. I would rather populate the object in memory and then when the order gets to a certain state, save it. So it would seem that session is the best place for this? Or would you recommend that in the case of order, to retrieve the order from the database on each request, rather than using session? Thoughts, suggestions appreciated. Thanks Ben

  Hi, I am producing some latex beamer slides (but I think it is not a beamer specific question per se). I have the following: \begin{itemize} \item Issue1 \item Issue2 \item Issue3 \end{itemize} Now, I want to have a right curly brace (i.e. '}') behind the items spreading over issue1 and issue2. And of course I want to write something behind that curly brace. In a perfect world I would write something like: \begin{itemize} \left . \item Issue1 \item Issue2 \right \} One and Two are cool \item Issue3 \end{itemize} This does not work because I am not in a math environment and I can not put the whole snippet inside a math environment because itemize would not work in that case. • Using a bookmarklet to track a package

  I'm trying to write a bookmarklet that tracks a package in the mail. First it checks to see if the tracking page is open, if not it opens it in a new tab, and then sets the value of the form to the tracking number. Finally, it submits the form. What I'm so far unable to do is set the value of the form in the case where the bookmarklet opens up a new tab. • Is there a way for IIS6 to do http and https together in the same site?

  The site needs to be accessible both from HTTP and HTTPS (in case the client wants the form submissions to be secure or not) The site is hosted in IIS6 and ideally I'd like to be able to just have one website in there and it can handle both http and https..is this possible? alternatively i was thinking maybe creating a "secure" subdirectory in the site and duplicating everything in there as well..is that feasible? this is further complicated that it is using asp.net 3.5's routing ability to do url rewrites so even if I create a secure subdirectory, i dunno if it will actually pick up that it's supposed to be SSL approved

• Oracle XE as local recovery database and Oracle Standard as main db

  Hi, I just wanted to know what you guys think about this. I have an app written in Visual Basic .Net as my front end and and Oracle 11g Standart database as the back-end. So I have like 20 pc's running this app locally. They're all inserting, updating, deleting data on this single database. I want to develop a solution in the case that the server database crashes or cannot stay on line. So i think of having oracle 10g XE on each pc. Thus all the data will be stored in the local db. I think about running a proccess once in a while (ex. every 15 minutes) to send/get the data to/from the main server. What do you think about this strategy?
