  • iPhone Application failing to come back from sigkill

    I have no idea if this is intended behaviour, but whenever the application exits (say, the user is double-clicking the home button and pressing on the red dash on the icon) I get the dreaded SIGKILL. Now, when I try to launch the app again all I get is the old screen state and a frozen (I presume ?) program. It could be because of clunky memory management, but NSZombieEnabled doesn't seem to agree. Any thoughts ?

  • C# or windows equivalent of OS X's Core Data?

    I'm late to the boat and have only just now started using Core Data in OS X / Cocoa - it's incredible and is really changing the way I look at things. Is there an equivalent technology in C# or the modern Windows frameworks? i.e. having managed data types where you get saving, data management, deleting, searching all for free? Also wondering if there's anything like this on Linux.

    For what x is The expression x IS NOT NULL is not equal to NOT(x IS NULL), as is the case in 2VL (quote from this answer, which is quoting Fabian Pascal Practical Issues in Database Management - A Reference for the Thinking Practitioner -- near the end of that answer) My guess is when x IS NULL is NULL, but I cannot guess when that would be (i.e. I haven't checked the SQL standard).

  • Is it a good practice to always use smart pointers ?

    Hi, I find smart pointers to be a lot more comfortable than raw pointers. So is it a good idea to always use smart pointers? ( Please note that I am from Java background and hence don't much like the idea of explicit memory management. So unless there are some serious performance issues with smart pointers, I'd like to stick with them. ) Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    I'm trying to clone a local git repository. The repository's name contains a `:'. This is confusing both me and git. I get the following error: ~/work/c% git clone ../a::b . Initialized empty Git repository in /home/user/work/c/.git/ ssh: Could not resolve hostname ../a: Name or service not known fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly How would you escape the `:'? For now I'm just changing the name of the original repository :-) I'm using zshell...

  • XmlDocument, XmlResolver and www.w3.org

    One of my users had a single error while opening a file (I'm using standard xml 1.0): The remote name could not be resolved: 'www.w3.org' I found a post here in StackOverflow that deals with this and it suggest setting the XmlResolver property to null. I've tried this, and all my documents still seem to load fine. However, the last thing I want is to break the file-reading mechanism of my app, so is it actually safe to disable the resolver?

    I was trying to fetch remote notification info when the app was not running,so I was told that I can get from : UILocalNotification *localNotification = [launchOptions objectForKey:UIApplicationLaunchOptionsRemoteNotificationKey] in method: - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions ,but still can't get info. Then I use alertView to show the info on iPhone(launch without Xcode),still can't get the info. Any other issue would cause this? Please let me know if you have any ideas.

If they are non-technical and have no understanding of programming, how would you go about showing what the system will do and how it will do it? As I research Robotium works with a different Virtual Machine (Dalvik) so I cannot run as Junit Test (Only with Android Junit Test). So I found a possible solution to run Robotium with Junit with RoboRemote https://github.com/groupon/robo-remote. But when i tried to integrate with cucumber the tests became unstable.     Using SQL ManagementStudio 2008 I created SQL 3.5 Compact DB (TestCompact.sdf) and I have created subscription to existing Publication. Using SQL Management Studio it is working. I have transfered TestCompact.sdf to Windows Mobile 5 emulator device and with QueryAnalyzer for Mobile I could query existing tables in TestCompact.sdf. I don't know how to start replication synchronization on that mobile device. Do I need to write some C# code or it is possible do it more simple?

    windows only record 1 user/pwd to a remote share dir, and my program need to connect a dir, but the user may login first, let my program failed to connect, is there a method to disconnect it? i only know the IP. I use wnetcancelconnection2(remotedir) first, but still cannot work, and return 1219 error(credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials)
