• strange behaviour of grep in UNIX

  When I type a command $ grep \\h junk then shell should interpret \\h as \h as two pairs of \ become \ each, and grep in turn, should interpret \h as \h as \ becomes \, so grep should search for a pattern \h in junk, which it is doing successfully. But it's not working for \\$. Please explain why ?

I set IndexField to NOT_ANALYZED_NO_NORMS and Field.Store.YES When I look at my index in LUKE, the fields are as I expected, a value such as: 'SKU Number', yet when I search for 'SKU' or 'SKU*' nothing comes up.   I am using Entity Framework now and using a stored procedure to populate my entity. Where there is no problem with populating my entity, but when i trying to bind the result to a gridview control with "Enable Paging" set to true, it gives an error saying "The data source does not support server-side data paging." I am using stored procedure because one of the table column is FullTextIndexed, and there is a requirement to be able to search on that field. Can anyone tell me how the paging would work in this situation?

I have search all over Google, but all I seem to find is "run an SQL statement to alter the table to a BIGINT" - This seems a bit hack-ish to me, so I wanted to know if there was a way to specify a bigint in the ruby system like :big_int or something Any ideas?
