  • Sorting and displaying a custom QVariant type.

    Hello, I have a custom type I'd like to use with QVariant but I don't know how to get the QVariant to display in a table or have it sort in a QSortFilterProxyModel. I register the type with Q_DECLARE_METATYPE and wrote streaming operators registered via qRegisterMetaTypeStreamOperators but for whatever reason when I use the type with a table model, it doesn't display anything and it doesn't sort. I should specify that this custom type can not be modified. It has a copy and default constructor, but I can not go in and modify the source code to get it to work with QVariant. Is there a way of non-intrusively getting the behaviour I'd like?

  • Sorting page flow for has_many in Rails

    I have a page flow allowing the user to choose an object ("Player") to add to a has_many :players association in another model. 1 => List existing players for object [Enter player name] 2 => List of matching players [Select player] 3 => Confirmation page [Press 'Add'] 4 => Done I want users to be able to choose "New Player" instead of selecting a player at step 2, in which case the user will go through the standard New Player process elsewhere on the site. However, after that's done, the user should return to step 3 with the new player in place. I don't know what the best way is to implement this. I don't want to duplicate the player creation code, but I don't want to dirty up the player creation code too much just for this case. I also don't want to start sticking IDs in the session if I can help it. It's fine in simple cases but if the user ever has two windows/tabs then things start behaving badly. What do you think?

    I have an array: letterFrequency = [["a", 12], ["b", 25], ["c", 34], ["d", 1], ["e", 35], ["f", 8], ["g", 7], ["h", 67], ["i", 35], ["j", 0], ["k", 53], ["l", 0], ["m", 0], ["n", 3], ["o", 0], ["p", 0], ["q", 3], ["r", 153], ["s", 0], ["t", 0], ["u", 15], ["v", 0], ["w", 0], ["x", 3], ["y", 0], ["z", 0]] and I want to sort it in descending order based on the number within the nested array i.e. letterFrequency[i][1]. So I want the most popular letter to be first. How would I do this?

I can do select replicate('----', count(parent.name) - 1) + ' ' + node.name , count(parent.name) - 1 as depth , node.lft from departments node , departments parent where node.lft between parent.lft and parent.rgt group by node.name, node.lft order by depth asc, node.name asc; However, that does not match children with their parent for some reason. department lft rgt --------------------------- departments 0 1 ---- a 1 4 ---- d 1 2 -------- b 2 5 -------- c 2 7 As you can see, department 'd' has department 'a's children!     In my little project here I have sorted a list in decending order, however, my goal is to sort it in this custom pattern. (largest - smallest - next largest - next smallest -)etc. In java I was able to do this like this... My goal is to do the same thing but in python, except backwards.   • Sorting results by a char(1) column

    I have a stored procedure which basically does something like select top 1 expiryDate, flag, (bunch of other columns) from someTable (bunch of joins) order by expiryDate desc So this will grab the record that expires last. This works for most cases, except some records have a flag that are just a char(1). Most of the time it's just Y or N. So it'll return something like 2010-12-31 N 2010-10-05 Y 2010-08-05 N 2010-03-01 F 2010-01-31 N This works, most of the time, but is there any way to order it by the Flag column as well? So I'd want to group the results by Y, then N, and F and any other flags can go last in any order. I thought this would just be an order by, but since the flags are not weighted by the alphabetic value, I'm a little stumped. (Note: These are not my tables, I don't know if using the characters like this was a good idea or not, but it's not something I can change).

    Hi folks, I have a MySQL table that stores (amongst other things) a persons date of birth. Is there any way to sort the table so the next due birthday is at the top? I have the date stored in standard yyyy-mm-dd DATE format and seperate year, month and day fields so I can sort it by the first birthday of the year (ORDER BY month, day) but I can't seem to get any further.     For a school project i have a list of 50k containers that arrive on a boat. These containers need to be sorted in a list in such a way that the earliest departure DateTimes are at the top and the containers above those above them. This list then gets used for a crane that picks them up in order. I started out with 2 Collection.sort() methods: 1st one to get them in the right XYZ order Collections.sort(containers, new Comparator<ContainerData>() { @Override public int compare(ContainerData contData1, ContainerData contData2) { return positionSort(contData1.getLocation(),contData2.getLocation()); } }); Then another one to reorder the dates while keeping the position in mind: Collections.sort(containers, new Comparator<ContainerData>() { @Override public int compare(ContainerData contData1, ContainerData contData2) { int c = contData1.getLeaveDateTimeFrom().compareTo(contData2.getLeaveDateTimeFrom()); int p = positionSort2(contData1.getLocation(), contData2.getLocation()); if(p != 0) c = p; return c; } }); But i never got this method to work..   • mysql ORDER BY date_time field not sorting as expected

    I have a field in my database that stores the datetime that an item was added to the database. If I want to sort the items in reverse chronological order I would expect that doing ORDER by date_added DESC would do the trick. But this seems not to work. I also tried ORDER by UNIX_TIMESTAMP(date_added) but this still did not sort the results as I would expect. I also have an auto-increment field that I can use to sort items so I will use this, but I am curious as to why ORDER by datetime was not behaving as expected. any ideas?
