• Google Wave as code repository and IDE?

  Is it possible to write a Google Wave plugin that turns it into an IDE for programming? With such an extension, Google Wave would be a replacement for Eclipse etc., and it would naturally be a code repository at the same time (replacing SVN, git, etc.). Users (programmers) would be able to create code files directly in Wave and add collaborators to do pair programming etc. The whole codebase would live in a Wave folder, and an extension would do the building and compiling on the fly. How would one go about writing such an extension?

• Rebinding jQuery qtip tooltip on images in bxcarousel

  I'm using bxcarousel to show a bunch of images. Each image has a tooltip, which I display using qtip. • jQuery .ajax method in IE7 & IE6 not working but working fine in Firefox

• How about the Asp.net processes and threads and apppools?

  Hi, as i understand, when i load a asp.net .aspx page on the (iis)server, it's processed via the w3p.exe process. But when iis gets multiple requests, are they all processed by the same w3p process? And does this process automaticly use all my processors and cores? And after that: when i start i new thread in my page, this thread still works when the pages is already served to the client. Where does this thread live? also in the w3p.exe process? And what if i assign another apppool to my site, what does that do? Michel

• UISearchbar clearButton forces the keyboard to appear

  I have a UISearchBar which acts as a live filter for a table view. When the keyboard is dismissed via endEditing:, the query text and the gray circular "clear" button remain. From here, if I tap the gray "clear" button the keyboard reappears as the text is cleared. How do I prevent this? If the keyboard is not currently open I want that button to clear the text without reopening the keyboard. There is a protocol method that gets called when I tap the clear button. But sending the UISearchBar a resignFirstResponder message doesn't have any effect on the keyboard.

• OAuth iPhone client, problems with HTTP_AUTHORIZATION

  Hi, I've been trying to implement OAuth in my iPhone app. However I have hit a problem. I have two servers, a local web server which is on my machine at home, I use this for testing. The machine is IIS 7 running PHP 5.08. Everything works fine on this server. However my live (web server) is running Apache and PHP 5.12. The problem is when I try to request a RequestToken the HTTP_AUTHORIZATION variable isn't posted to the web server, so I get an error returned from the server saying 'Invaild Consumer Key'. There is clearly a problem with the way the server is setup (as the code works on my local server). The code I am using is from this walkthrough http://code.google.com/p/oauthconsumer/wiki/UsingOAuthConsumer I have tried dumping the PHP headers and indeed HTTP_AUTHORIZATION is missing. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? (as it's driving me mad :)) Thanks Rich

• URL redirect/remapping to a Django app, using DNS or Apache

  Typically I've been lucky enough to have a fairly simple Django and Apache configuration. But now I'm writing several apps that will sit on the same server and I need them to each have individual domains. The apps live at www.myserver.com/app/app1 (app2...) and I would like to access it using www.someawesomedomain.com. I don't want a redirect since I do not want to expose the underlying path. What is the best way to do this, in the context of 5 - 10 sites? I'm using Apache2.

  Hi I have created an Activity (CodeActivity) that retrieves the temperature where I live. I wan't to add that activity to a workflow and connect it to an if statement/activity that can based on my temperature outargument do different things. But I can't seem to find how to access the outargument from my temperature-activity. This is my first Windows Workflow 4 project so perhaps I'm attacking this in the wrong way. I have: public OutArgument Degrees { get; set; } But how do I access it? I have found tutorials how to get the data when running the activity (only one) but not as part of a workflow. • as3 swc component preview through code

  I am developing an as3 swc-based component that populates its contents entirely through actionscript in the constructor (e.g. sprite.graphics.lineTo...). When I drag the component onto the stage, it is empty. If I export my movie, everything works perfectly, but I also need the live preview to work. I could get around this with a placeholder graphic, but I would much rather leave it purely as code. Is there any way to get around this? Thanks, David.

  I am starting to give up troubleshooting this issue I had... I had an .ascx page and had the following user control in it: <td> <Club:DatePicker ID="dp1" runat="server" /> </td> however in my code behind when I tried to write methods: public System.DateTime startDateTime { get { return dp1.SelectedDate.Add(tp1.SelectedTime.TimeOfDay); } set { dp1.SelectedDate = value; tp1.SelectedTime = value; } } It can't reference dp1(dp1 is underlined in red) as well as tp1... why is this?? I've tried to convert the solution to a web application and yet it doesn't work. • How do I design the file storage issue?

  I am working on an application that creates video files and stores them in a folder in the C:\ drive. I speculate that there will be a large number of these files in the future and we would run out of disk space at some point of time (on our VPS). When the time comes that we have to upgrade, we either plan to use one of the Cloud providers to store files or our existing provider can add another disk (say D:\ drive). Either way, I would want to design the app now in a way that in future, moving to different locations would not be an issue and would be transparent to the end user. The code that creates these files supports 2 ways: myObj.SetOutputToDisk(<path to store>); or myObj.SetOutputToMemoryStream(ms); If we go with the Cloud architecture, I assume we might have the following combination: Cloud Files + Existing VPS or Cloud Files + Cloud Windows Server Given the unknowns at this time, how would I go about designing this?

• ASP.NET AJAX postback and jQuery

  I have a Textbox, a LinkButton and a RadioButtonList inside an UpdatePanel. When the button is clicked, the UpdatePanel shows matching items in the radiobuttonlist. This works fine, but I now need to make the same happen OnKeyDown on the TextBox. I'm trying to cancel all AJAX requests in progress but not having much luck. Firstly, on every keypress the UpdatePanel posts back, so only one letter can be changed at a time. Secondly, the textbox loses focus on postback. I need to show the list as normal, but OnKeyDown as well as when the button is pressed.   HI all, I'm developing a software to control light show ( through DMX protocol ), i use C# and wpf to develop my main software (.net 4.0) To help people preview their show, i would like to make a live 3D visualizer... First, i thought that i could use wpf 3D to make the visualizer, but i need to work with light .. My main application should send property ( beam angle, orientation (X,Y), position(X,Y), Brush ( color,shape,effect)) to the 3D visualizer But i would like to be able to move light (position in the scene) by mouse during execution and had value in return... So .. Does XNA is the easiest way to doing that ? Can you help me for that : Generating light (orientation , bitmap like filter in front of light ) Dynamically moving object with mouse and get position in return Dynamically add or remove fixture All of your advice, sample, example are very welcome ...   I'm trying to remove a table row using jQuery, and while it disappears from the screen, and therefore, appears to work, in Firebug, I can still see the code for it. There are form elements in this row, and so, I want to understand whether the row is truly being deleted or not, because I wouldn't want those values submitted. So, does remove really remove? • RockBand-like voice app for PC/OSX / Real time pitch display software

  I played Rock Band 2 for the first time a little while ago (at Notacon). One thing I enjoyed about it was getting real-time feedback about my singing. I think it'd be neat to have something like that to run alongside my usual music, so that I can sing to random stuff in my music collection and know when I'm hitting the notes. Is there something like this for PC - ideally for OSX, and ideally that can just operate on arbitrary songs? I don't really care if it's game-like (though that's neat too); I just want it for the singing feedback. And I have no need for pitch correction - ideally what I'd see is just the pitches of the notes in the music and (on the same scale, differently displayed) of the live microphone. I tried to STFW but got no salient hits. :-/ Thanks!

• Installing Tangible T4 Editor in VS 2010 RC

  I installed the (free) Tangible T4 Editor from the VS Gallery, and shut down/restarted VS. I run on XP under an Administrator account. VS Extension Manager indicates that the editor is installed and enabled. Here is my problem: When I do Add New Item (as in the video here), I don't see any of the Tangible templates. What have I missed? (BTW, I looked around some more, found the T4 Toolbox, installed that, and still see no new templates for Tangible or the toolbox). Thanks!

  Hello. This question may sounds trivial, but i am struggling with the issue, so, please help if u can. So, here it is : i am using a CheckboxTreeViewer for some good reasons. I've google-it for some class usages, and i am currently able to check/uncheck all the childrens of a selected node, and to preserve the selection after a live search with a custom implementation of the StyledCellLabelProvider provider. All good so far. However, so far i am unable to programatically select one or more elements of the tree viewer after i display the widget and call the setInput() method of the viewer. So, let's assume for instance that the tree will have 10 main nodes, and 5 leafs on node 6. My question is how do i set the checked state of the 3rd leaf? Thank u.

  Hi there, I have been taking a look at mvvm light toolkit, i must admit i haven't got a lot of experience with it but i live what i see.. I did use the mvvm toolkit (microsoft) but currently use vs 2010 and no templates are available as yet. I was looking for some insight into mvvm light toolkit... Is it always maintained ? i..e its not going to be gone tomorrow... Or shoudl i be looking elsewhere?? I would really appreciate any feedback... I also saw some info on how it is blendable which the mvvm toolkit (microsoft) didn't seem to have.. Prism also seems to be also a likely candidate but from what i understand its not a MVVM framework / toolkit i would be using it with wpf Any help really appreciated Thank you

• Is it worthwhile learning about Emacs? [closed]

  Hi there Some time ago, I've heard what a great tool Emacs can be. I've read some papers about it and some watched some video too. I've read that emacs is great not only for developers but for usual users too...so i decided to start learning how to use it and wok with it. The problem is that I'm a MS Windows user and I learn in my spare time PHP and C(I also did some products on those languages, but i still considering myself in learning stage). Another problem is that I learn alone (no friends around to ask/learn from them, programming related stuff). Can you give me some tips about how to use those type of tools(especially those written for gnu/unix) with "poor" GUI but rich features? Do you recommend to use the specific windows written applications only and forget about those which come from GNU?

• Streaming server required with JW Player?

  Currently, a site I developed plays mp3 files directly in JW Player using the file attribute and public URLs to the mp3 file. This is now an issue with the client for legal reasons, and they now need to stream the audio files so that the users can't open up their cache and nab the files directly after downloading. The JW player site has a bunch of examples for streaming video, but nothing for audio. Is it possible to stream audio files with JW player, and do we have to pay a lot of money for a streaming provider? Is it possible to do on the local php server?

  Hello, I have a solution with multiple projects - executable, library, and others(unimportant right now). Library contains EF entity classes and executable uses them. When I'm working on some code from the executable then every entity that I use is marked as an error and compiler says that I should check usings and references. Reference in the executable project is set to library project(not the dll itself). When I build the library project then everything gets back to normal, but when I start typing then it happens again. I could live with it, but intelli sense isn't working and that is quite a disadvantage. Any ideas?
