  • .NET Web Serivce hydrate custom class

    - by row1
    I am consuming an external C# Web Service method which returns a simple calculation result object like this: [Serializable] public class CalculationResult { public string Name { get; set; } public string Unit { get; set; } public decimal? Value { get; set; } } When I add a Web Reference to this service in my ASP .NET project Visual Studio is kind enough to generate a matching class so I can easily consume and work with it. I am using Castle Windsor and I may want to plug in other method of getting a calculation result object, so I want a common class CalculationResult (or ICalculationResult) in my solution which all my objects can work with, this will always match the object returned from the external Web Service 1:1. Is there anyway I can tell my Web Service client to hydrate a particular class instead of its generated one? I would rather not do it manually: foreach(var fromService in calcuationResultsFromService) { ICalculationResult calculationResult = new CalculationResult() { Name = fromService.Name }; yield return calculationResult; } Edit: I am happy to use a Service Reference type instead of the older Web Reference.

  • Strongly typed dynamic Linq sorting

    - by David
    I'm trying to build some code for dynamically sorting a Linq IQueryable<. The obvious way is here, which sorts a list using a string for the field name http://dvanderboom.wordpress.com/2008/12/19/dynamically-composing-linq-orderby-clauses/ However I want one change - compile time checking of field names, and the ability to use refactoring/Find All References to support later maintenance. That means I want to define the fields as f=f.Name, instead of as strings. For my specific use I want to encapsulate some code that would decide which of a list of named "OrderBy" expressions should be used based on user input, without writing different code every time. Here is the gist of what I've written: var list = from m Movies select m; // Get our list var sorter = list.GetSorter(...); // Pass in some global user settings object sorter.AddSort("NAME", m=m.Name); sorter.AddSort("YEAR", m=m.Year).ThenBy(m=m.Year); list = sorter.GetSortedList(); ... public class Sorter ... public static Sorter GetSorter(this IQueryable source, ...) The GetSortedList function determines which of the named sorts to use, which results in a List object, where each FieldData contains the MethodInfo and Type values of the fields passed in AddSort: public SorterItem AddSort(Func field) { MethodInfo ... = field.Method; Type ... = TypeOf(TKey); // Create item, add item to diction, add fields to item's List // The item has the ThenBy method, which just adds another field to the List } I'm not sure if there is a way to store the entire field object in a way that would allow it be returned later (it would be impossible to cast, since it is a generic type) Is there a way I could adapt the sample code, or come up with entirely new code, in order to sort using strongly typed field names after they have been stored in some container and retrieved (losing any generic type casting)

  • UIAlertView Will not show

    - by John
    I have a program that is requesting a JSON string. I have created a class that contains the connect method below. When the root view is coming up, it does a request to this class and method to load up some data for the root view. When I test the error code (by changing the URL host to 127.0.0.1), I expect the Alert to show. Behavior is that the root view just goes black, and the app aborts with no alert. No errors in debug mode on the console, either. Any thoughts as to this behavior? I've been looking around for hints to this for hours to no avail. Thanks in advance for your help. Note: the conditional for (error) is called, as well as the UIAlertView code. - (NSString *)connect:(NSString *)urlString { NSString *jsonString; UIApplication *app = [UIApplication sharedApplication]; app.networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; NSError *error = nil; NSURLResponse *response = nil; NSURL *url = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:urlString]; NSURLRequest *req = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url cachePolicy:NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringCacheData timeoutInterval:10]; NSData *_response = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest: req returningResponse: &response error: &error]; if (error) { /* inform the user that the connection failed */ //AlertWithMessage(@"Connection Failed!", message); UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Oopsie!" message:@"Unable to connect! Try later, thanks." delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles: nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; } else { jsonString = [[[NSString alloc] initWithData:_response encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding] autorelease]; } app.networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; [url release]; return jsonString; }

  • Is there a Symfony callback at the termination of a session?

    - by Rob Wilkerson
    I have an application that is authenticating against an external server in a filter. In that filter, I'm trying to set a couple of session attributes on the user by using Symfony's setAttribute() method: $this->getContext()->getUser()->setAttribute( 'myAttribute', 'myValue' ); What I'm finding is that, if I dump $_SESSION immediately after setting the attribute. On the other hand, if I call getAttribute( 'myAttribute' ), I get back exactly what I put in. All along, I've assumed that reading/writing to user attributes was synonymous with reading/writing to the session, but that seems to be an incorrect assumption. Is there a timing issue? I'm not getting any non-object errors, so it seems that the user is fully initialized. Where is the disconnect here? Thanks. UPDATE The reason this was happening is because I had some code in myUser::shutdown() that cleared out a bunch of stuff. Because myUser is loosely equivalent to $_SESSION (at least with respect to attributes), I assumed that the shutdown() method would be called at the end of each session. It's not. It seems to get called at the close of each request which is why my attributes never seemed to get set. Now, though, I'm left wondering whether there's a session closing callback. Anyone know?

  • select2: "text is undefined" when getting json using ajax

    - by user3046715
    I'm having an issue when getting json results back to select2. My json does not return a result that has a "text" field so need to format the result so that select2 accepts "Name". This code works if the text field in the json is set to "text" but in this case, I cannot change the formatting of the json result (code outside my control). $("#e1").select2({ formatNoMatches: function(term) {return term +" does not match any items." }, ajax: { // instead of writing the function to execute the request we use Select2's convenient helper url: "localhost:1111/Items.json", dataType: 'jsonp', cache: true, quietMillis: 200, data: function (term, page) { return { q: term, // search term p: page, s: 15 }; }, results: function (data, page) { // parse the results into the format expected by Select2. var numPages = Math.ceil(data.total / 15); return {results: data.Data, numPages: numPages}; } } }); I have looked into the documentation and found some statements you can put into the results such as text: 'Name', but I am still getting "text is undefined". Thanks for any help.

  • assigning selected="selected" to dynamic option list

    - by leemjac
    In an "edit article" page i have a select list which displays author first and last name, as well as authorId as the value. As well as the article context and headline and so on (fetched with a different method) - though this method also holds the authorId of the specific article. I need to have the Author of the Article selected in the option list, instead of it defaulting to the first option in the select list. what i have: echo''; //loop through author names in option list $authors_name foreach($authors_name as $nameRow){ echo'<option class="authorId" value = "' . $nameRow['AuthorID'] . '">'. $nameRow['FirstName'].' '.$nameRow['LastName'] .''; } echo'</select>'; and the jquery: var currID = ('#selectAuthor').val(); if(('.authorId').val() == currID){ $('.authorId').addClass('new_class') $('.new_class').prop('selected',true); } OR var currID = ('#selectAuthor').val(); if($("select option[value=currID]").attr('selected','selected')); Any help would be greatly appreciated, I hope what I am trying to do is clear. Thanks in advance I have simplified it with just regular input and checked it in jsfiddle.net here is the HTML '; <option value = "2">Name val 2</option> <option value = "5">Name val 5</option> <option value = "1">Name val 1</option> and here is the jquery var currID = $('#selectAuthor').val(); if($("select option[value='+currID+']").prop('selected',true));? and even then it doesn't apply selected="selected" to option with value="1"

  • Problem inserting Pygames on a wxPython panel using Boa Constructor

    - by Kohwalter
    Hello, im new in Python so im hoping to to get some help to figure out what is going wrong. Im trying to run a Pygames from within wxPython panel (made on Boa Constructor). To do that i followed the instructions on the http://wiki.wxpython.org/IntegratingPyGame but still it isn't working. Here is the Panel code that was used to make the integration: class PG_panel(wx.Panel): def __init__(self, ID, name, parent, mypos, mysize): # pygame is imported in this class # make it globally available global pygame #self.Fit() wx.Panel.__init__(self, id=wxID_FRMMAINPANELTABULEIRO, name='panelTabuleiro', parent=self, pos=(16, 96), size=mysize) # pygame uses SDL, set the environment variables os.environ['SDL_WINDOWID'] = str(self.GetHandle()) os.environ['SDL_VIDEODRIVER'] = 'windib' # do the pygame stuff after setting the environment variables import pygame pygame.display.init() # create the pygame window/screen screen = pygame.display.set_mode(464, 464) #(424,450) # start the thread instance self.thread = PG_thread(screen) self.thread.start() def __del__(self): self.thread.stop() And im trying to use that panel on an interface from Boa Constructor, here is the code: class frmMain(wx.Frame): def _init_ctrls(self, prnt): # generated method, don't edit wx.Frame.__init__(self, id=wxID_FRMMAIN, name='frmMain', parent=prnt, pos=wx.Point(660, 239), size=wx.Size(815, 661), style=wx.DEFAULT_FRAME_STYLE, title='Grupo 1 - Jogo de Damas') self._init_utils() self.SetClientSize(wx.Size(799, 623)) self.SetBackgroundColour(wx.Colour(225, 225, 225)) self.SetMinSize(wx.Size(784, 650)) self.Center(wx.BOTH) self.SetMenuBar(self.menuBar1) #here begins my code mysize = (464, 464) mypos = (16, 96) self.panelTabuleiro = PG_panel(wxID_FRMMAINPANELTABULEIRO, 'panelTabuleiro', self, mypos, mysize) The original that was auto-made by the Boa Constructor is the following: self.panelTabuleiro = wx.Panel(id=wxID_FRMMAINPANELTABULEIRO, name='panelTabuleiro', parent=self, pos=wx.Point(16, 96), size=wx.Size(464, 464), style=wx.TAB_TRAVERSAL) self.panelTabuleiro.SetBackgroundColour(wx.Colour(232, 249, 240)) self.panelTabuleiro.SetThemeEnabled(True) self.panelTabuleiro.SetHelpText('Tabuleiro') The error that it gives is: Type error: in method 'new_Panel', expected argument 1 of type 'wxWindow*1 Exception AttributeError: "'PG_panel' object has no attribute 'thread' in ignored Any thoughts ? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

  • Code Contracts: Do we have to specify Contract.Requires(...) statements redundantly in delegating me

    - by herzmeister der welten
    I'm intending to use the new .NET 4 Code Contracts feature for future development. This made me wonder if we have to specify equivalent Contract.Requires(...) statements redundantly in a chain of methods. I think a code example is worth a thousand words: public bool CrushGodzilla(string weapon, int velocity) { Contract.Requires(weapon != null); // long code return false; } public bool CrushGodzilla(string weapon) { Contract.Requires(weapon != null); // specify contract requirement here // as well??? return this.CrushGodzilla(weapon, int.MaxValue); } For runtime checking it doesn't matter much, as we will eventually always hit the requirement check, and we will get an error if it fails. However, is it considered bad practice when we don't specify the contract requirement here in the second overload again? Also, there will be the feature of compile time checking, and possibly also design time checking of code contracts. It seems it's not yet available for C# in Visual Studio 2010, but I think there are some languages like Spec# that already do. These engines will probably give us hints when we write code to call such a method and our argument currently can or will be null. So I wonder if these engines will always analyze a call stack until they find a method with a contract that is currently not satisfied? Furthermore, here I learned about the difference between Contract.Requires(...) and Contract.Assume(...). I suppose that difference is also to consider in the context of this question then?

  • Incompatible type for argument 1 of 'setBounds'

    - by Brandon
    I am trying to do my own custom classes and learn C and Objective C. I'm recieving the error that there is an incompatible type for argument 1. I've defined a struct and class like this: typedef enum { kRedColor, kGreenColor, kBlueColor } ShapeColor; typedef struct { int x, y, width, height; } ShapeRect; @interface Shape : NSObject { ShapeColor fillColor; ShapeRect bounds; } - (void) setFillColor: (ShapeColor) fillColor; - (void) setBounds: (ShapeRect) bounds; - (void) draw; @end // Shape Then I import the Shape.h file(code above) and try and create a shape like this: id shapes[4]; // I'm different! ShapeRect rect0 = { 0, 0, 10, 30 }; shapes[0] = [Shape new]; [shapes[0] setBounds: rect0]; I get the error that setBounds is incompatible. For some reason it isn't looking at the Shape.h class for the setBounds method and it is instead looking at the default setBounds method? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

  • Attribute Address getting displayed instead of Attribute Value

    - by Manish
    I am try to create the following. I want to have one drop down menu. Depending on the option selected in the first drop down menu, options in second drop down menu will be displayed. The options in 2nd drop down menu is supposed by dynamic, i.e., options change with the change of values in first menu. • Login to website and use cookie to get source for another page

    - by Stu
    I am trying to login to the TV Rage website and get the source code of the My Shows page. I am successfully logging in (I have checked the response from my post request) but then when I try to perform a get request on the My Shows page, I am re-directed to the login page. This is the code I am using to login: private string LoginToTvRage() { string loginUrl = "http://www.tvrage.com/login.php"; string formParams = string.Format("login_name={0}&login_pass={1}", "xxx", "xxxx"); string cookieHeader; WebRequest req = WebRequest.Create(loginUrl); req.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; req.Method = "POST"; byte[] bytes = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(formParams); req.ContentLength = bytes.Length; using (Stream os = req.GetRequestStream()) { os.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length); } WebResponse resp = req.GetResponse(); cookieHeader = resp.Headers["Set-cookie"]; String responseStream; using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(resp.GetResponseStream())) { responseStream = sr.ReadToEnd(); } return cookieHeader; } I then pass the cookieHeader into this method which should be getting the source of the My Shows page: private string GetSourceForMyShowsPage(string cookieHeader) { string pageSource; string getUrl = "http://www.tvrage.com/mytvrage.php?page=myshows"; WebRequest getRequest = WebRequest.Create(getUrl); getRequest.Headers.Add("Cookie", cookieHeader); WebResponse getResponse = getRequest.GetResponse(); using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(getResponse.GetResponseStream())) { pageSource = sr.ReadToEnd(); } return pageSource; } I have been using this previous question as a guide but I'm at a loss as to why my code isn't working.

  • Surely a foolish error, but I can't see it

    - by dnagirl
    I have a form (greatly simplified): <form action='http://example.com/' method='post' name='event_form'> <input type='text' name='foo' value='3'/> <input type='submit' name='event_submit' value='Edit'/> </form> And I have a class "EventForm" to process the form. The main method, process() looks like this: public function process($submitname=false){ $success=false; if ($submitname && isset($_POST[$submitname])){ //PROBLEM: isset($_POST[$submitname] is always FALSE for some reason if($success=$this->ruler->validate()){//check that dependancies are honoured and data types are correct if($success=$this->map_fields()){//divide input data into Event, Schedule_Element and Temporal_Expression(s) $success=$this->eventholder->save(); } } } else {//get the record from the db based on event_id or schedule_element_id foreach($this->gets as $var){//list of acceptable $_GET keys if(isset($_GET[$var])){ if($success= $this->__set($var,$_GET[$var])) break; } } } $this->action=(empty($this->eventholder->event_id))? ADD : EDIT; return $success; } When the form is submitted, this happens: $form->process('event_submit'); For some reason though, isset($_POST['event_submit']) always evaluates to FALSE. Can anyone see why?

  • JQuery: Live <a> tag partially working second time around.

    - by BPotocki
    I have the following jquery code: $("a[id*='Add_']").live('click', function() { //Get parentID to add to. var parentID = $(this).attr('id').substring(4); //Get div. var div = $("#CreateList"); //Ajax call to refresh "CreateList" div with new XML. div.load("/AddUnit?ParentID=" + parentID); }); Basically, contained within the div is a nested unordered list with several "Add_#" links. Clicking the links uses an ajax call to recreate the list with a new node. It clears all the add links, but they are added again by the ajax call. This is why I used the .live method so newly added "Add_#" links still have the binding. This works in most cases. If I click "Add_1", the div refreshes with the new info. If I then click "Add_2", it works again as expected. The problem I'm having happens when I click "Add_1", then the page refreshes (and creates a new "Add_1" link), then I click the re-rendered "Add_1" again. It's the same link, but it was refreshed during the ajax call. When I do that, the javascript function still gets called, but the .load method doesn't work. Any ideas why this might be happening? Thanks.

  • S.redirectTo leads always to a blank screen

    - by Jaime Ocampo
    I am now playing a little bit with lift (2.8.0), and all the features in LiftRules work as intended. But I haven't been able to use S.redirectTo at all. I always ends with a blank screen, no matter what. No error messages at all! As an example, I have the following form: ... <lift:logIn.logInForm form="post"> <p><login:name /></p> <p><login:password /></p> <p><login:submit /></p> </lift:logIn.logInForm> ... And the code is: object LogIn extends helper.LogHelper { ... def logInForm(in: NodeSeq): NodeSeq = { var name = "" var password = "" def login() = { logger.info("name: " + name) logger.info("password: " + password) if (name == "test1") S.redirectTo("/example") if (name == "test2") S.redirectTo("/example.html") if (name == "test3") S.redirectTo("example.html") S.redirectTo("/") } bind("login", in, "name" -> SHtml.text(name, name = _), "password" -> SHtml.password(password, password = _), "submit" -> SHtml.submit("Login", login)) } } The method 'login' is invoked, I can check that in the log information. But as I said, no matter which name I enter, I always end with a blank screen, although 'examples.html' is available when being accessed directly in the browser. How should I invoke S.redirectoTo in order to navigate to 'examples.html'? Also, why don't I receive an error message (I am logging at a debug level)? I think all the configuration in Boot is correct, since all LitRules examples (statelessRewrite, dispatch, viewDispatch, snippets) work fine.

  • Java, Massive message processing with queue manager (trading)

    - by Ronny
    Hello, I would like to design a simple application (without j2ee and jms) that can process massive amount of messages (like in trading systems) I have created a service that can receive messages and place them in a queue to so that the system won't stuck when overloaded. Then I created a service (QueueService) that wraps the queue and has a pop method that pops out a message from the queue and if there is no messages returns null, this method is marked as "synchronized" for the next step. I have created a class that knows how process the message (MessageHandler) and another class that can "listen" for messages in a new thread (MessageListener). The thread has a "while(true)" and all the time tries to pop a message. If a message was returned, the thread calls the MessageHandler class and when it's done, he will ask for another message. Now, I have configured the application to open 10 MessageListener to allow multi message processing. I have now 10 threads that all time are in a loop. Is that a good design?? Can anyone reference me to some books or sites how to handle such scenario?? Thanks, Ronny

  • interface variables are final and static by default and methods are public and abstract

    - by sap
    The question is why it's been decided to have variable as final and static and methods as public and abstract by default. Is there any particular reason for making them implicit,variable as final and static and methods as public and abstract. Why they are not allowing static method but allowing static variable? We have interface to have feature of multiple inheritance in Java and to avoid diamond problem. But how it solves diamond problem,since it does not allow static methods. In the following program, both interfaces have method with the same name..but while implementing only one we implement...is this how diamond problem is solved? interface testInt{ int m = 0; void testMethod(); } interface testInt1{ int m = 10; void testMethod(); } public class interfaceCheck implements testInt, testInt1{ public void testMethod(){ System . out . println ( "m is"+ testInt.m ); System . out . println ( "Hi World!" ); } }

  • Why does this ActionFilterAttribute not import data to the ViewModel?

    - by Tomas Lycken
    I have the following attribute public class ImportStatusAttribute : ActionFilterAttribute { public override void OnActionExecuted(ActionExecutedContext filterContext) { var model = (IHasStatus)filterContext.Controller.ViewData.Model; model.Status = (StatusMessageViewModel)filterContext.Controller.TempData["status"]; filterContext.Controller.ViewData.Model = model; } } which I test with the following test method (the first of several I'll write when this one passes...) [TestMethod] public void OnActionExecuted_ImportsStatusFromTempDataToModel() { // Arrange Expect(new { Status = new StatusMessageViewModel() { Subject = "The test", Predicate = "has been tested" }, Key = "status" }); var filterContext = new Mock<ActionExecutedContext>(); var model = new Mock<IHasStatus>(); var tempData = new TempDataDictionary(); var viewData = new ViewDataDictionary(model.Object); var controller = new FakeController() { ViewData = viewData, TempData = tempData }; tempData.Add(expected.Key, expected.Status); filterContext.Setup(c => c.Controller).Returns(controller); var attribute = new ImportStatusAttribute(); // Act attribute.OnActionExecuted(filterContext.Object); // Assert Assert.IsNotNull(model.Object.Status, "The status was not exported"); Assert.AreEqual(model.Object.Status.ToString(), ((StatusMessageViewModel)expected.Status).ToString(), "The status was not the expected"); } (Expect() is a method that saves some expectations in the expected object...) When I run the test, it fails on the first assertion, and I can't get my head around why. Debugging, I can see that model is populated correctly, and that (StatusMessageViewModel)filterContext.Controller.TempData["status"] has the correct data. But after model.Status = (StatusMessageViewModel)filterContext.Controller.TempData["status"]; model.Status is still null in my watch window. Why can't I do this?

  • Django - partially validating form

    - by aeter
    I'm new to Django, trying to process some forms. I have this form for entering information (creating a new ad) in one template: class Ad(models.Model): ... category = models.CharField("Category",max_length=30, choices=CATEGORIES) sub_category = models.CharField("Subcategory",max_length=4, choices=SUBCATEGORIES) location = models.CharField("Location",max_length=30, blank=True) title = models.CharField("Title",max_length=50) ... I validate it with "is_valid()" just fine. Basically for the second validation (another template) I want to validate only against "category" and "sub_category": In another template, I want to use 2 fields from the same form ("category" and "sub_category") for filtering information - and now the "is_valid()" method would not work correctly, cause it validates the entire form, and I need to validate only 2 fields. I have tried with the following: ... if request.method == 'POST': # If a filter for data has been submitted: form = AdForm(request.POST) try: form = form.clean() category = form.category sub_category = form.sub_category latest_ads_list = Ad.objects.filter(category=category) except ValidationError: latest_ads_list = Ad.objects.all().order_by('pub_date') else: latest_ads_list = Ad.objects.all().order_by('pub_date') form = AdForm() ... but it doesn't work. How can I validate only the 2 fields category and sub_category?

This function is a leaf (no dependencies - easly testable), so I made it static inside the helper class. public static class MathHelper { public static int Factorial(int n) { Debug.Assert(n >= 0); if (n < 0) { throw new ArgumentException("n cannot be lower that 0"); } Debug.Assert(n <= 12); if (n > 12) { throw new OverflowException("Overflow occurs above 12 factorial"); } //by definition if (n == 0) { return 1; } int factorialOfN = 1; for (int i = 1; i <= n; ++i) { //checked //{ factorialOfN *= i; //} } return factorialOfN; } } Testing: [TestMethod] [ExpectedException(typeof(OverflowException))] public void Overflow() { int temp = FactorialHelper.MathHelper.Factorial(40); } [TestMethod] public void ZeroTest() { int factorialOfZero = FactorialHelper.MathHelper.Factorial(0); Assert.AreEqual(1, factorialOfZero); } [TestMethod] public void FactorialOf5() { int factOf5 = FactorialHelper.MathHelper.Factorial(5); Assert.AreEqual(120,factOf5); } [TestMethod] [ExpectedException(typeof(ArgumentException))] public void NegativeTest() { int factOfMinus5 = FactorialHelper.MathHelper.Factorial(-5); } I have a few questions: Is it correct? (I hope so ;) ) Does it throw right exceptions? Should I use checked context or this trick ( n 12 ) is ok? Is it better to use uint istead of checking for negative values? Future improving: Overload for long, decimal, BigInteger or maybe generic method? Thank you

  • [java] Returning the element number of the longest string in an array

    - by JohnRoberts
    Hoookay, so. I'm trying to get the longestS method to take the user-inputted array of strings, then return the element number of the longest string in that array. I got it to the point where I was able to return the number of chars in the longest string, but I don't believe that will work for what I need. My problem is that I keep getting incompatible type errors when trying to figure this out. I don't understand the whole data type thing with strings yet. It's confusing me how I go about return a number of the array yet the array is of strings. The main method is fine, I got stuck on the ???? part. { public static void main(String [] args) { Scanner inp = new Scanner( System.in ); String [] responseArr= new String[4]; for (int i=0; i<4; i++) { System.out.println("Enter string "+(i+1)); responseArr[i] = inp.nextLine(); } int highest=longestS(responseArr); } public static int longestS(String[] values) { int largest=0 for( int i = 1; i < values.length; i++ ) { if ( ????? ) } return largest; } }

  • Writing out sheet to text file using POI event model

    - by Eduardo Dennis
    I am using XLSX2CSV example to parse large sheets from a workbook. Since I only need to output the data for specific sheets I added an if statement in the process method to test for the specific sheets. When the condition is met I continue with the process. public void process() throws IOException, OpenXML4JException, ParserConfigurationException, SAXException { ReadOnlySharedStringsTable strings = new ReadOnlySharedStringsTable(this.xlsxPackage); XSSFReader xssfReader = new XSSFReader(this.xlsxPackage); StylesTable styles = xssfReader.getStylesTable(); XSSFReader.SheetIterator iter = (XSSFReader.SheetIterator) xssfReader.getSheetsData(); while (iter.hasNext()) { InputStream stream = iter.next(); String sheetName = iter.getSheetName(); if (sheetName.equals("SHEET1")||sheetName.equals("SHEET2")||sheetName.equals("SHEET3")||sheetName.equals("SHEET4")||sheetName.equals("SHEET5")){ processSheet(styles, strings, stream); try { System.setOut(new PrintStream( new FileOutputStream("C:\\Users\\edennis.AD\\Desktop\\test\\"+sheetName+".txt"))); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } stream.close(); } } } But I need to output text file and not sure how to do it. I tried to use the System.set() method to output everything from system.out to text but that's not working I just get blank files.

  • Generic that takes only numeric types (int double etc)?

    - by brandon
    In a program I'm working on, I need to write a function to take any numeric type (int, short, long etc) and shove it in to a byte array at a specific offset. There exists a Bitconverter.GetBytes() method that takes the numeric type and returns it as a byte array, and this method only takes numeric types. So far I have: private void AddToByteArray<T>(byte[] destination, int offset, T toAdd) where T : struct { Buffer.BlockCopy(BitConverter.GetBytes(toAdd), 0, destination, offset, sizeof(toAdd)); } So basically my goal is that, for example, a call to AddToByteArray(array, 3, (short)10) would take 10 and store it in the 4th slot of array. The explicit cast exists because I know exactly how many bytes I want it to take up. There are cases where I would want a number that is small enough to be a short to really take up 4 bytes. On the flip side, there are times when I want an int to be crunched down to just a single byte. I'm doing this to create a custom network packet, if that makes any ideas pop in to your heads. If the where clause of a generic supported something like "where T : int || long || etc" I would be ok. (And no need to explain why they don't support that, the reason is fairly obvious) Any help would be greatly appreciated! Edit: I realize that I could just do a bunch of overloads, one for each type I want to support... but I'm asking this question because I want to avoid precisely that :)

  • Java: Comparing a class with another within that class using a my own .equals

    - by user1670252
    I am making a method .equals replacing the equals method used. It accepts a object. I want it to check if that object equals the class that runs the .equals class. I know I want to compare all the private methods I have to that object. Is there a way to do this without making another private class to get the private variables from the object? How do I do this to compare equality not identity? I am stuck on this. Do i have to use == to compare? Also looking online i see others use recursion. If this is the way i have to do it can you show and explain it to me? so an example i have public boolean equals(Object o) { this is in a class we will call bobtheBuilder (first thing to pop in my head) I want to check if the object o is equal to the class he has private object array and a private int. I assume I want to check if the array and int of this class equal the array and int of the object.

  • Help with create action in a different show page

    - by Andrew
    Hi, I'm a Rails newbie and want to do something but keep messing something up. I'd love some help. I have a simple app that has three tables. Users, Robots, and Recipients. Robots belong_to users and Recipients belong_to robots. On the robot show page, I want to be able to create recipients for that robot right within the robot show page. I have the following code in the robot show page which lists current recipients: <table> <% @robot.recipients.each do |recipient| %> <tr> <td><b><%=h recipient.chat_screen_name %></b> via <%=h recipient.protocol_name</td> <td><%= link_to 'Edit', edit_recipient_path(recipient) %>&nbsp;</td> <td><%= link_to 'Delete', recipient, :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :method => :delete %></td> </tr> <% end %> </table> What I'd like to do is have an empty field in which the user can add a new recipient, and have tried the following: I added this to the Robots Show view: <% form_for(@robot.recipient) do |f| %> Enter the screen name<br> <%= f.text_field :chat_screen_name %> <p> <%= f.submit 'Update' %> </p> <% end %> and then this to the Robot controller in the show action: @recipient = Recipient.new @recipients = Recipient.all Alas, I'm still getting a NoMethod error that says: "undefined method `recipient' for #" I'm not sure what I'm missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
