  • Python Ephem / Datetime calculation

    - by dassouki
    the output should process the first date as "day" and second as "night". I've been playing with this for a few hours now and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas? Edit I assume that the problem is due to my date comparison implementation Output: $ python time_of_day.py * should be day: event date: 2010/4/6 16:00:59 prev rising: 2010/4/6 09:24:24 prev setting: 2010/4/5 23:33:03 next rise: 2010/4/7 09:22:27 next set: 2010/4/6 23:34:27 day * should be night: event date: 2010/4/6 00:01:00 prev rising: 2010/4/5 09:26:22 prev setting: 2010/4/5 23:33:03 next rise: 2010/4/6 09:24:24 next set: 2010/4/6 23:34:27 day time_of_day.py import datetime import ephem # install from http://pypi.python.org/pypi/pyephem/ #event_time is just a date time corresponding to an sql timestamp def type_of_light(latitude, longitude, event_time, utc_time, horizon): o = ephem.Observer() o.lat, o.long, o.date, o.horizon = latitude, longitude, event_time, horizon print "event date ", o.date print "prev rising: ", o.previous_rising(ephem.Sun()) print "prev setting: ", o.previous_setting(ephem.Sun()) print "next rise: ", o.next_rising(ephem.Sun()) print "next set: ", o.next_setting(ephem.Sun()) if o.previous_rising(ephem.Sun()) <= o.date <= o.next_setting(ephem.Sun()): return "day" elif o.previous_setting(ephem.Sun()) <= o.date <= o.next_rising(ephem.Sun()): return "night" else: return "error" print "should be day: ", type_of_light('45.959','-66.6405','2010/4/6 16:01','-4', '-6') print "should be night: ", type_of_light('45.959','-66.6405','2010/4/6 00:01','-4', '-6')

  • Can I add a condition to CakePHP's update statement?

    - by Don Kirkby
    Since there doesn't seem to be any support for optimistic locking in CakePHP, I'm taking a stab at building a behaviour that implements it. After a little research into behaviours, I think I could run a query in the beforeSave event to check that the version field hasn't changed. However, I'd rather implement the check by changing the update statement's WHERE clause from WHERE id = ? to WHERE id = ? and version = ? This way I don't have to worry about other requests changing the database record between the time I read the version and the time I execute the update. It also means I can do one database call instead of two. I can see that the DboSource.update() method supports conditions, but Model.save() never passes any conditions to it. It seems like I have a couple of options: Do the check in beforeSave() and live with the fact that it's not bulletproof. Hack my local copy of CakePHP to check for a conditions key in the options array of Model.save() and pass it along to the DboSource.update() method. Right now, I'm leaning in favour of the second option, but that means I can't share my behaviour with other users unless they apply my hack to their framework. Have I missed an easier option?

  • pthread condition variables on Linux, odd behaviour.

    - by janesconference
    Hi. I'm synchronizing reader and writer processes on Linux. I have 0 or more process (the readers) that need to sleep until they are woken up, read a resource, go back to sleep and so on. Please note I don't know how many reader processes are up at any moment. I have one process (the writer) that writes on a resource, wakes up the readers and does its business until another resource is ready (in detail, I developed a no starve reader-writers solution, but that's not important). To implement the sleep / wake up mechanism I use a Posix condition value, pthread_cond_t. The clients call a pthread_cond_wait() on the variable to sleep, while the server does a pthread_cond_broadcast() to wake them all up. As the manual says, I surround these two calls with a lock/unlock of the associated pthread mutex. The condition variable and the mutex are initialized in the server and shared between processes through a shared memory area (because I'm not working with threads, but with separate processes) an I'm sure my kernel / syscall support it (because I checked _POSIX_THREAD_PROCESS_SHARED). What happens is that the first client process sleeps and wakes up perfectly. When I start the second process, it blocks on its pthread_cond_wait() and never wakes up, even if I'm sure (by the logs) that pthread_cond_broadcast() is called. If I kill the first process, and launch another one, it works perfectly. In other words, the condition variable pthread_cond_broadcast() seems to wake up only one process a time. If more than one process wait on the very same shared condition variable, only the first one manages to wake up correctly, while the others just seem to ignore the broadcast. Why this behaviour? If I send a pthread_cond_broadcast(), every waiting process should wake up, not just one (and, however, not always the same one).

  • Abstracting boxed array structures in J

    - by estanford
    I've been working on a J function for a while, that's supposed to scan a list and put consecutive copies of an element into separate, concatenated boxes. My efforts have taken me as far as the function (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) which tests successive list entries for inequality, returns a list of boolean values, and cuts the list into boxes that end each time the number 1 appears. Here's an example application: (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) 1 2 3 3 3 4 1 1 1 +-+-+-----+-+-----+ |1|1|0 0 1|1|0 0 1| +-+-+-----+-+-----+ The task would be finished if I could then replace all those booleans with their corresponding values in the input argument. I've been looking for some kind of mystery function that would let me do something like final =: mysteryfunction @ (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) final 1 2 3 3 3 4 1 1 1 +-+-+-----+-+-----+ |1|2|3 3 3|4|1 1 1| +-+-+-----+-+-----+ In an ideal situation, there would be some way to abstractly represent the nesting pattern generated by (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) to the original input list. (i.e. "This boxed array over here has the first element boxed at depth one, the second element boxed at depth one, the third, fourth, and fifth elements boxed together at depth one,..., so take that unboxed list over there and box it up the same way.") I tried fooling around with ;. , S: , L:, L. and &. to produce that behavior, but I haven't had much luck. Is there some kind of operator or principle I'm missing that could make this happen? It wouldn't surprise me if I were overthinking the whole issue, but I'm running out of ideas.

  • uiview's controls unresponsive.. or how to foul up a view hierarchy

    - by user293139
    Hello all, I'm working on an app that has two sections, a config section and a results section. My config section needs to be 2 separate views (horizontal and vert, and yes, I can hear the intake of breath from here), with one rotatable view for the results. b/c of layout restraints and a lot of pain around rotation, I'm not using a navigation controller. I've been experiencing the joys of rotation experimentation and have settled upon keeping my views contained as subviews of my view controller. i.e. view controller.view.subviews = configH, configV, and results. I then use the controller.view bringSubviewToFront to bring the either the configH, configV, or the result view to the front. Rotation works-queue(humor intended) the angelic choirs... almost. What's happening is that my configV button's are responsive, but when the device (or simulator) is rotated, my configH controls are not. (configV is the second subview added, but the first one to be brought to the front because app comes up in portrait mode) The controls on the results view also work. Plan B was to assign the controller.view to configH, configV, or results. All of my controls now work, but rotation is now fouled up. Question 1: Is there a better way to do this? (a horizontal and vertical config view and a rotatable results view) Question 2: Does the above suggest a design issue, or is it more likely that my addled brain is just missing something in my own code. (nothing from the peanut gallery please) many thanks!

  • How do I show TextView's in LinearLayout that layed on other Layout?

    - by gelassen
    Good day. I have three layouts: first is the root, second and third lie in first. I try add TextView object in third layout and objects had been added in third layout (I saw it in debage mode) but this objects didn't showed on screen. May be someone know where is the problem? <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal"> <Button android:id="@+id/addJokeButton" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/app_name" /> <EditText android:id="@+id/newJokeEditText" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> protected void initLayout() { setContentView(R.layout.advanced); LinearLayout linearLayout = (LinearLayout) getLayoutInflater().inflate( R.layout.advanced, null); m_vwJokeEditText = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.newJokeEditText); m_vwJokeButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.addJokeButton); m_vwJokeLayout = (LinearLayout) linearLayout.getChildAt(1); } protected void addJoke(Joke joke) { m_arrJokeList.add(joke); LayoutParams lparams = new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT); TextView textView = new TextView(this); setColor(textView); textView.setLayoutParams(lparams); textView.setText(joke.getJoke()); m_vwJokeLayout.addView(textView); }

  • Why my events aren't registered after postback?

    - by lucian.jp
    I have a problem where I have a page with a checkbox : <asp:CheckBox runat="server" ID="chkSelectAll" OnCheckedChanged="chkSelectAll_CheckedChanged" EnableViewState="true" Text='<%# CommonFunctions.GetText(Page, "CreateTask", "chkSelectAll.text") %>' AutoPostBack="true" /> First I had the problem that when the event was raised the checkbox wasn't keeping the checked property value. This is still strange because nowhere in the application we set the EnableViewState to false and by default it should be true. Well this behavior was fixed by puting EnableViewState="true". So now, I have a checkbox that when I first load the page, wworks correctly. I check the box, the event is raised Checked property valu is good and the method is executed. Postback completes and renders the page. I check the box back to false, the event is not triggered and the page is reloaded with the previous data but the Checked Property stays at true. So after the first postback I seem to loose behavior of event and ViewState. We suspect the fact that we move dynamically the controls in the page (See answer here) But this suspicion doesn't explain why everything works perfectly after the first load and stops working after first PostBack. EDIT CODE SAMPLE I created a test project where you can experience my problem. At load if you check any checkbox both raise their respective event. After postback only the second raise both events. I seem to have a problem when I register the events after moving control.

  • twython search api rate limit: Header information will not be updated

    - by user2715478
    I want to handle the Search-API rate limit of 180 requests / 15 minutes. The first solution I came up with was to check the remaining requests in the header and wait 900 seconds. See the following snippet: results = search_interface.cursor(search_interface.search, q=k, lang=lang, result_type=result_mode) while True: try: tweet = next(results) if limit_reached(search_interface): sleep(900) self.writer(tweet) def limit_reached(search_interface): remaining_rate = int(search_interface.get_lastfunction_header('X-Rate-Limit-Remaining')) return remaining_rate <= 2 But it seems, that the header information are not reseted to 180 after it reached the two remaining requests. The second solution I came up with was to handle the twython exception for rate limitation and wait the remaining amount of time: results = search_interface.cursor(search_interface.search, q=k, lang=lang, result_type=result_mode) while True: try: tweet = next(results) self.writer(tweet) except TwythonError as inst: logger.error(inst.msg) wait_for_reset(search_interface) continue except StopIteration: break def wait_for_reset(search_interface): reset_timestamp = int(search_interface.get_lastfunction_header('X-Rate-Limit-Reset')) now_timestamp = datetime.now().timestamp() seconds_offset = 10 t = reset_timestamp - now_timestamp + seconds_offset logger.info('Waiting {0} seconds for Twitter rate limit reset.'.format(t)) sleep(t) But with this solution I receive this message INFO: Resetting dropped connection: api.twitter.com" and the loop will not continue with the last element of the generator. Have somebody faced the same problems? Regards.

  • I am trying to find how many vowels and consonants in my string in C

    - by John Walter
    #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> int main() { int i; int counter=0, counter2=0; char *s; char name[30]; char vowel[6] = "AEIOU"; char consonants[21] = "BCDFGHJKLMNPQRSTVWXYZ"; printf ("input the string: "); scanf ("%s", name); printf ("The string is %s\n", name); for (i=0; name[i]!='\0'; i++) { if (s = strchr(vowel, name[i])) { counter++; } else if (s =strchr(consonants, name[i])) { counter2++; } printf ("First counter is %d\n", counter); printf ("The second counter is %d\n", counter2); return 0; } } And the question is, what is wrong with my code? why counter is not working? Because I tried a lot of ways, and nothing works, maybe someone can explain for me.

  • Shell script task status monitoring

    - by Bikram Agarwal
    I'm running an ANT task in background and checking in 60 second intervals whether that task is complete or not. If it is not, every 60 seconds, a message should be displayed on screen - "Deploy process is still running. $slept seconds since deploy started", where $slept is 60, 120, 180 n so on. There's a limit of 1200 seconds, after which the script will show the log via 'ant log' command and ask the user whether to continue. If the user chooses to continue, 300 seconds are added to the time limit and the process repeats. The code that I am using for this task is - ant deploy & limit=1200 deploy_check() { while [ ${slept:-0} -le $limit ]; do sleep 60 && slept=`expr ${slept:-0} + 60` if [ $$ = "`ps -o ppid= -p $!`" ]; then echo "Deploy process is still running. $slept seconds since deploy started." else wait $! && echo "Application ${New_App_Name} deployed successfully" || echo "Deployment of ${New_App_Name} failed" break fi done } deploy_check if [ $$ = "`ps -o ppid= -p $!`" ]; then echo "Deploy process did not finish in $slept seconds. Here's the log." ant log echo "Do you want to kill the process? Press Ctrl+C to kill. Press Enter to continue." read log limit=`expr ${limit} + 300` deploy_check fi Now, the problem is - this code is not working. This looks like a perfectly good code and yet, this is not working. Can anyone point out what is wrong with this code, please.

  • Trouble when changing pixel data with alpha on png on iphone --okay on simulator

    - by Ted
    I'm trying to change the color of the pixels (lighten or darken) without changing the value of the alpha channel using CGDataProviderCopyData. I leave every 4th databyte untouched. It work fine of the iphone simulator, however on the real thing the alpha goes white as I increase the values of the other pixels. I've tried changing just the first byte, or the second, or the third. Does anybody have any idea what is going on? The basic code is borrowed from Jorge. I like this simple approach --I'm new to this. But I want to make it work with png images with some transparency. here is most of the code by Jorge : CFDataRef CopyImagePixels(CGImageRef inImage){ return CGDataProviderCopyData(CGImageGetDataProvider(inImage)); } CGImageRef img=originalImage.CGImage; CFDataRef dataref=CopyImagePixels(img); UInt8 *data=(UInt8 *)CFDataGetBytePtr(dataref); int length=CFDataGetLength(dataref); for(int index=0;index255){ data[index+i]=255; }else{ data[index+i]+=value; } } } } size_t width=CGImageGetWidth(img); size_t height=CGImageGetHeight(img); size_t bitsPerComponent=CGImageGetBitsPerComponent(img); size_t bitsPerPixel=CGImageGetBitsPerPixel(img); size_t bytesPerRow=CGImageGetBytesPerRow(img); CGColorSpaceRef colorspace=CGImageGetColorSpace(img); CGBitmapInfo bitmapInfo=CGImageGetBitmapInfo(img); CGImageAlphaInfo alphaInfo = kCGBitmapAlphaInfoMask(img); NSLog(@"bitmapinfo: %d",bitmapInfo); CFDataRef newData=CFDataCreate(NULL,data,length); CGDataProviderRef provider=CGDataProviderCreateWithCFData(newData); CGImageRef newImg=CGImageCreate(width,height,bitsPerComponent,bitsPerPixel,bytesPerRow,colorspace,bitmapInfo,provider,NULL,true,kCGRenderingIntentDefault); [iv setImage:[UIImage imageWithCGImage:newImg]]; CGImageRelease(newImg); CGDataProviderRelease(provider);

  • PostgreSQL, Foreign Keys, Insert speed & Django

    - by Miles
    A few days ago, I ran into an unexpected performance problem with a pretty standard Django setup. For an upcoming feature, we have to regenerate a table hourly, containing about 100k rows of data, 9M on the disk, 10M indexes according to pgAdmin. The problem is that inserting them by whatever method literally takes ages, up to 3 minutes of 100% disk busy time. That's not something you want on a production site. It doesn't matter if the inserts were in a transaction, issued via plain insert, multi-row insert, COPY FROM or even INSERT INTO t1 SELECT * FROM t2. After noticing this isn't Django's fault, I followed a trial and error route, and hey, the problem disappeared after dropping all foreign keys! Instead of 3 minutes, the INSERT INTO SELECT FROM took less than a second to execute, which isn't too surprising for a table <= 20M on the disk. What is weird is that PostgreSQL manages to slow down inserts by 180x just by using 3 foreign keys. Oh, disk activity was pure writing, as everything is cached in RAM; only writes go to the disks. It looks like PostgreSQL is working very hard to touch every row in the referred tables, as 3MB/sec * 180s is way more data than the 20MB this new table takes on disk. No WAL for the 180s case, I was testing in psql directly, in Django, add ~50% overhead for WAL logging. Tried @commit_on_success, same slowness, I had even implemented multi row insert and COPY FROM with psycopg2. That's another weird thing, how can 10M worth of inserts generate 10x 16M log segments? Table layout: id serial primary, a bunch of int32, 3 foreign keys to small table, 198 rows, 16k on disk large table, 1.2M rows, 59 data + 89 index MB on disk large table, 2.2M rows, 198 + 210MB So, am I doomed to either drop the foreign keys manually or use the table in a very un-Django way by defining saving bla_id x3 and skip using models.ForeignKey? I'd love to hear about some magical antidote / pg setting to fix this.

  • Two questions on ensuring EndInvoke() gets called on a list of IAsyncResult objects

    - by RobV
    So this question is regarding the .Net IAsyncResult design pattern and the necessity of calling EndInvoke as covered in this question Background I have some code where I'm firing off potentially many asynchronous calls to a particular function and then waiting for all these calls to finish before using EndInvoke() to get back all the results. Question 1 I don't know whether any of the calls has encountered an exception until I call EndInvoke() and in the event that an exception occurs in one of the calls the entire method should fail and the exception gets wrapped into an API specific exception and thrown upwards. So my first question is what's the best way then to ensure that the remainder of the async calls get properly terminated? Is a finally block which calls EndInvoke() on the remainder of the unterminated calls (and ignores any further exceptions) the best way to do this? Question 2 Secondly when I first fire off all my asyc calls I then call WaitHandle.WaitAll() on the array of WaitHandle instances that I've got from my IAsyncResult instances. The method which is firing all these async calls has a timeout to adhere to so I provide this to the WaitAll() method. Then I test whether all the calls have completed, if not then the timeout must have been reached so the method should also fail and throw another API specific exception. So my second question is what should I do in this case? I need to call EndInvoke() to terminate all these async calls before I throw the error but at the same time I don't want the code to get stuck since EndInvoke() is blocking. In theory at least if the WaitAll() call times out then all the async calls should themselves have timed out and thrown exceptions (thus completing the call) since they are also governed by a timeout but this timeout is potentially different from the main timeout

  • Designing a silverlight dashboard with mef - is it possible? (with dynamic loading of xaps)

    - by Tim Robbin
    Hello! I am just trying to wrap my head around MEF. And as I am really going to love it ( I guess ) I started my first sample project and immediatly stumbled into a big problem and now I am asking myself if I can use MEF for my scenario at all and that is the following: Imagine that one got some kind of dashboard with, let's say, five regions and above each region there are two comboboxes. The values in the first combobox represent different possible views (for example, chartControl, tableControl, pictureControl, ...) and the values of the second combobox represents the different data sources for the currently selected control. As the controls are very big in size one wants to download them as needed. If the user selects one comboboxitem the corresponding control xap should be loaded and displayed in this specific region. If the user selectes another control in the same combobox the control should be removed from the visualtree and the next control should be downloaded and displayed. If the user changes the selection in a different combobox the corresponding control should be loaded again only in this specific region, with perhaps different data. And to make it a little more interesting - as this is some kind of dashboard one can change the layout from five regions to - for example - ten regions. I've seen the video "MVVM with MEF in Silverlight Video Tutorial Part 2: Plugins and Metadata" ( http://csharperimage.jeremylikness.com/2010/03/mvvm-with-mef-in-silverlight-video_09.html ) but he is using an ItemsControl and is working with Visibility and he only got ONE region. So I think that this technique is not working for me... Puh, I hope I could make myself clear! Thanks a lot for any piece of information!!! Greetings, Tim.

  • UISplitView's DetailView not changing its content

    - by Knodel
    I have an iPad app with a UISplitView. In the Root View I have a two level UITableView (it takes its content from a plist). In the Detail View I have a UIWebView. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { //Get the dictionary of the selected data source. NSDictionary *dictionary = [self.tableDataSource objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; //Get the children of the present item. NSArray *Children = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Children"]; RootViewController *rvController = [[RootViewController alloc] init]; rvController.CurrentTitle = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Title"]; rvController.CurrentLevel = +1; //Push the new table view on the stack [self.navigationController pushViewController:rvController animated:YES]; rvController.tableDataSource = Children; NSString *name = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@.rtfd.zip", rvController.CurrentTitle ]; NSString* resourcePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath]; NSString* sourceFilePath = [resourcePath stringByAppendingPathComponent:name]; NSURL* url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:sourceFilePath isDirectory:NO]; NSURLRequest* request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [detailViewController.webView loadRequest:request]; } That's how I want the UIWebView's content to be changed. If I name the .rtfd.zip file the same as a first level cell of the UITableView, it works, UIWebView's content changes. But this doesn't work with the second level UITableView. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

  • Can I remove duplicating events in EventAggregator?

    - by Mcad001
    Hi, I have a quite simple scenario that I cannot get to work correctly. I have 2 views, CarView and CarWindowView (childwindow) with corresponding ViewModels. In my CarView I have an EditButton that that opens CarWindowView (childwindow) where I can edit the Car object fields. My problem is that the DisplayModule method in my CarWindowView ViewModel is getting called too many times...When I push the edit button first time its getting called once, the second time its getting called twince, the third time its getting called 3 times and so fort... ! CarView ViewModel constructor: Public Sub New(ByVal eventAggregator As IEventAggregator, ByVal con As IUnityContainer, ByVal mgr As ICarManager, ByVal CarService As ICarService) _Container = con _CarManager = mgr _EventAggregator = eventAggregator 'Create the DelegateCommands NewBtnClick = New DelegateCommand(Of Object)(AddressOf HandleNewCarBtnClick) EditBtnClick = New DelegateCommand(Of Object)(AddressOf HandleEditCarBtnClick) End Sub CarView ViewModel HandleEditCarBtnClick method: Private Sub HandleEditCarBtnClick() Dim view = New CarWindowView Dim viewModel = _Container.Resolve(Of CarWindowViewModel)() viewModel.CurrentDomainContext = DomainContext viewModel.CurrentItem = CurrentItem viewModel.IsEnabled = False view.ApplyModel(viewModel) view.Show() _EventAggregator.GetEvent(Of CarCollectionEvent)().Publish(EditObject) End Sub CarWindowView ViewModel constructor: Public Sub New(ByVal eventAggregator As IEventAggregator, ByVal con As IUnityContainer, ByVal mgr As ICarManager, ByVal CarService As ICarService) _Container = con _CarManager = mgr _EventAggregator = eventAggregator _EventAggregator.GetEvent(Of CarCollectionEvent).Subscribe(AddressOf DisplayModule) End Sub CarWindowView ViewModel DisplayModule method (this is the method getting called too many times): Public Sub DisplayModule(ByVal param As String) If param = EditObject Then IsInEditMode = True ' Logic removed for display reasons here. This logic breaks because it's called too many times. End If End Sub So, I cannot understand how I can only have the EventAggregator to store just the one single click, and not all my click on the Edit button. Sorry if this is not to well explained! Help appreciated!!

  • Handle row deletion in UITableViewController

    - by Kamchatka
    Hello, I hava a UINavigationController. The first level is a UITableViewController, the second level just shows details on one of the items of the table view. In this detail view, I can delete the item. It deletes the underlying managed object. When I pop back to the view, I have a crash. I understand why, it's because I didn't update the cached array that contains the data. I looked at several tutorials and I don't exactly understand how am I supposed to handle deletion. Maybe I don't understand exactly where I should fetch the objects in the model. Should I do a query for every cellForRowAtIndexPath and take the item in the result at position indexPath.row? It doesn't look efficient. Should I check for changes somewhere and recache the whole query in an array. I would think CoreData would provide something more natural but I couldn't find it so far. Thanks in advance.

  • Swipe left/right to push next/previous details view

    - by Youssef
    I am working on a ios application, using storyboard. I have a simple table view with rows. Each row has a "key" string to identify it. When the user clicks on a row I push the next view "DetailsViewController" and pass the "key" as a parameter in the prepareForSegue method. The data in the second view will change based on the "key" passed. In the "DetailsViewController" I want to add a swipe gesture, when the user swipes right, I want to push the next details view. It will be as if he clicked on the next row in the table view. So to rephrase, the user has 2 ways of switching between items: he can click the item in the table view and the details view will show, he can then go back and select another item. Or he can click on a row, and in the details view he can swipe left and right to see the previous/next item. i added the uigesture recognizer: UISwipeGestureRecognizer *recognizer; recognizer = [[UISwipeGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:@selector(handleSwipe:)]; [recognizer setDirection:UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirectionRight]; [[self view] addGestureRecognizer:recognizer]; - (void) handleSwipe:(UISwipeGestureRecognizer *) sender { //I want to go to the next item in the tableview } I hope I was clear. Thank you.

  • Core Data - 'calculated' attributes

    - by nephilim
    I have two entities: A and B A has two properties from and to, both pointing to the B entity. B as a fetched property to A with predicate from == $FETCH_SOURCE or to = $FETCH_SOURCE -- (from) -> A -- (to) -> B <- (As) -- In my application I select a certain B instance, and then show all of its A instances. Now, in my table the columns are bound to an array controller containing the selected A instances. I want to 'merge' the from and to columns. I already know one of the columns will be equal to the selected B instance, so now I'm only interested in the second value. The options I see: create a custom class for the B entity and create a method that returns either value. It should somehow be able to retrieve which B instance is currently selected. create a custom DataSource. Most columns are still using bindings, so then we'd have to access the NSArrayController's array so we're sure we have the right object. create a custom DataSource, remove the NSArrayController and do all the Core Data stuff ourselves. Is there any 'right' way to solve this?

  • Serial: write() throttling?

    - by damian
    Hi everyone, I'm working on a project sending serial data to control animation of LED lights, which need to stay in sync with a sound engine. There seems to be a large serial write buffer (OSX (POSIX) + FTDI chipset usb serial device), so without manually restricting the transmission rate, the animation system can get several seconds ahead of the serial transmission. Currently I'm manually restricting the serial write speed to the baudrate (8N1 = 10 bytes serial frame per 8 bytes data, 19200 bps serial - 1920 bytes per second max), but I am having a problem with the sound drifting out of sync over time - it starts fine, but after 10 minutes there's a noticeable (100ms+) lag between the sound and the lights. This is the code that's restricting the serial write speed (called once per animation frame, 'elapsed' is the duration of the current frame, 'baudrate' is the bps (19200)): void BufferedSerial::update( float elapsed ) { baud_timer += elapsed; if ( bytes_written > 1024 ) { // maintain baudrate float time_should_have_taken = (float(bytes_written)*10)/float(baudrate); float time_actually_took = baud_timer; // sleep if we have > 20ms lag between serial transmit and our write calls if ( time_should_have_taken-time_actually_took > 0.02f ) { float sleep_time = time_should_have_taken - time_actually_took; int sleep_time_us = sleep_time*1000.0f*1000.0f; //printf("BufferedSerial::update sleeping %i ms\n", sleep_time_us/1000 ); delayUs( sleep_time_us ); // subtract 128 bytes bytes_written -= 128; // subtract the time it should have taken to write 128 bytes baud_timer -= (float(128)*10)/float(baudrate); } } } Clearly there's something wrong, somewhere. A much better approach would be to be able to determine the number of bytes currently in the transmit queue, and try and keep that below a fixed threshold. Any advice appreciated.

  • Delphi : Handling the fact that Strings are not Objects

    - by awmross
    I am trying to write a function that takes any TList and returns a String representation of all the elements of the TList. I tried a function like so function ListToString(list:TList<TObject>):String; This works fine, except you can't pass a TList to it. E2010 Incompatible types: 'TList<System.TObject>' and 'TList<System.string>' In Delphi, a String is not an Object. To solve this, I've written a second function: function StringListToString(list:TList<string>):String; Is this the only solution? Are there other ways to treat a String as more 'object-like'? In a similar vein, I also wanted to write an 'equals' function to compare two TLists. Again I run into the same problem function AreListsEqual(list1:TList<TObject>; list2:TList<TObject>):boolean; Is there any way to write this function (perhaps using generics?) so it can also handle a TList? Are there any other tricks or 'best practises' I should know about when trying to create code that handles both Strings and Objects? Or do I just create two versions of every function? Can generics help? I am from a Java background but now work in Delphi. It seems they are lately adding a lot of things to Delphi from the Java world (or perhaps the C# world, which copied them from Java). Like adding equals() and hashcode() to TObject, and creating a generic Collections framework etc. I'm wondering if these additions are very practical if you can't use Strings with them.

  • Ideas on frameworks in .NET that can be used for job processing and notifications

    - by Rajat Mehta
    Scenario: We have one instance of WCF windows service which exposes contracts like: AddNewJob(Job job), GetJobs(JobQuery query) etc. This service is consumed by 70-100 instances of client which is Windows Form based .NET app. Typically the service has 50-100 inward calls/minute to add or query jobs that are stored in a table on Sql Server. The same service is also responsible for processing these jobs in real time. It queries database every 5 seconds picks up the queued jobs and starts processing them. A job has 6 states. Queued, Pre-processing, Processing, Post-processing, Completed, Failed, Locked. Another responsibility on this service is to update all clients on every state change of every job. This means almost 200+ callbacks to clients per second. Question: This whole implementation is done using WCF Duplex bindings and works perfectly fine on small number of parallel jobs. Problem arises when we scale it up to 1000 jobs at a time. The notifications don't work as expected, it leads to memory overflow etc. Is there any standard framework that can provide a clean infrastructure for handling this scenario?? Apologies for the long explanation!

  • Sharepoint NewForm adding attachments programatically

    - by CodeSpeaker
    I have a list with a custom form which contains a custom file upload control. As soon as the user selects a file and clicks upload, i want this file to go directly to the attachments list within that listitem. However, when adding the file to SPContext.Current.ListItem.Attachments on a new item, the attachment wont show up in the list after saving. If i instead use item.Update() on the new item after adding the attachment i get an error in Sharepoint, but when i then go back to the list, the item is there with its attachment. It seems like its trying to create 2 new entries at once when i save (item.Update) which results in the second of those crashing. What would be the correct way to add attachments this way? oSPWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true; // Get the List item SPListItem listItem = SPContext.Current.ListItem; // Get the Attachment collection SPAttachmentCollection attachmentCollection = listItem.Attachments; Stream attachmentStream; Byte[] attachmentContent; // Get the file from the file upload control if (fileUpload.HasFile) { attachmentStream = fileUpload.PostedFile.InputStream; attachmentContent = new Byte[attachmentStream.Length]; attachmentStream.Read(attachmentContent, 0, (int)attachmentStream.Length); attachmentStream.Close(); attachmentStream.Dispose(); // Add the file to the attachment collection attachmentCollection.Add(fileUpload.FileName, attachmentContent); } // Update th list item listItem.Update();

  • Common lisp, CFFI, and instantiating c structs

    - by andrew
    Hi, I've been on google for about, oh, 3 hours looking for a solution to this "problem." I'm trying to figure out how to instantiate a C structure in lisp using CFFI. I have a struct in c: struct cpVect{cpFloat x,y;} Simple right? I have auto-generated CFFI bindings (swig, I think) to this struct: (cffi:defcstruct #.(chipmunk-lispify "cpVect" 'classname) (#.(chipmunk-lispify "x" 'slotname) :double) (#.(chipmunk-lispify "y" 'slotname) :double)) This generates a struct "VECT" with slots :X and :Y, which foreign-slot-names confirms (please note that I neither generated the bindings or programmed the C library (chipmunk physics), but the actual functions are being called from lisp just fine). I've searched far and wide, and maybe I've seen it 100 times and glossed over it, but I cannot figure out how to create a instance of cpVect in lisp to use in other functions. Note the function: cpShape *cpPolyShapeNew(cpBody *body, int numVerts, cpVect *verts, cpVect offset) Takes not only a cpVect, but also a pointer to a set of cpVects, which brings me to my second question: how do I create a pointer to a set of structs? I've been to http://common-lisp.net/project/cffi/manual/html_node/defcstruct.html and tried the code, but get "Error: Unbound variable: PTR" (I'm in Clozure CL), not to mention that looks to only return a pointer, not an instance. I'm new to lisp, been going pretty strong so far, but this is the first real problem I've hit that I can't figure out. Thanks!
