  Hi, I've created this registration form for registering new users to a website using CodeIgniter. My problem is, whenever I enter a username that already exists in my database, instead of giving me my error message which explains this to the user, it instead gives me this error message: Unable to access an error message corresponding to your field name Here are snippets of the code from my controller. • ShowDialog won't run

  I've come across a situation where I try to run a simple line of code in a method Dim res As DialogResult = frmOptions.ShowDialog() but nothing happens. The dialog box will not appear. If I run this method from another location in the code it executes fine (i.e. displays the form in dialog mode and code executes fine thereafter). Hence, it may be the way in which I arrive at this code that is causing my problem, but I cannot see to find what is wrong. When I pause the debugger the line of code is highlighted in green but I can't see to step over it or into it. Any idea what may cause this to happen, or what I should be looking for that might be causing the problem?? Thanks for the help!

  Wikipedia has a auto-suggest feature on its search field. If you for instance type in "mars" it lists a few items including Mars, Marseille, Marsh. I am looking to implement something similar working off the latest DBpedia export (wikipedia in database form). If I do a search for all labels in the labels_en.nt file that DBpedia offer that begin with "mars" then, even if I remove ones that redirect on to others that are listed, I end up with a huge list. In trying to understand how wikipedia does this I noticed that I'm actually querying this URL which returns a JSON string. Now my problem is that I don't know how wikipedia narrows the list down. Perhaps it does so based on page popularity. The higher views/edits a page has the higher it goes in this suggestion box. If so, does DBpedia export this information?

• C# - Determine if class initializaion causes infinite recursion?

  I am working on porting a VB6 application to C# (Winforms 3.5) and while doing so I'm trying to break up the functionality into various classes (ie database class, data validation class, string manipulation class). Right now when I attempt to run the program in Debug mode the program pauses and then crashes with a StackOverFlowException. VS 2008 suggests a infinite recursion cause. I have been trying to trace what might be causing this recursion and right now my only hypothesis is that class initializations (which I do in the header(?) of each class). My thought is this: mainForm initializes classA classA initializes classB classB initializes classA .... Does this make sense or should I be looking elsewhere?   I'm having trouble with TryUpdateModel(). My form fields are named with a prefix but I am using - as my separator and not the default dot. <input type="text" id="Record-Title" name="Record-Title" /> When I try to update the model it does not get updated. If i change the name attribute to Record.Title it works perfectly but that is not what I want to do. bool success = TryUpdateModel(record, "Record"); Is it possible to use a custom separator?

• Set query FROM table using report parameter in BIRT

  Hi, I am using the BIRT report writer, and I have multiple tables with the same data structure. In my report design, I want to select the table my query uses as a report parameter (as part of a mysql query in the data set) -- but I can't figure it out. When I create the data set, it's great that I can use parameters in the form of SELECT * FROM WHERE ?, and set these to report parameters, but I get an error if I set the ? to the table, such as: SELECT * FROM ? WHERE 1 Is there another way I can do this? As it's java, I assume the syntax follows that of a PreparedStatement. In BIRT 2.5 there is a property binding option under the data set dialog... and I've tried setting my query as: "SELECT * FROM "+params["DataTable"].value+" WHERE 1", but that was also results in an error.

  Objective: I have a list of header files (about 50 of them), And each header-file has few arrays with constant elements. I need to write a program to count the elements of the array. And create some other form of output (which will be used by the hardware group). My solution: I included all the 50 odd files and wrote an application. And then I dumped all the elements of the array into the specified format. My environment: Visual Studio V6, Windows XP My problem: Each time there is a new set of Header files, I am now changing the VC++ project settings to point to the new set of header files, and then rebuild. My question: A bit in-sane though, Is there any way to mention the header from some command line arguments or something? I just want to avoid re-compiling the source every time...

• WPF, animate over container boundaries

  Hi, I'm learning WPF and have a specific goal. Imagine you have a grid (3 rows by 3 columns), and a control, say a simple blue rectangle fills the middle cell. When I click on the cell I want the square to rotate smoothly through 180 degrees. The specific issue I have at the moment is; as the rectangle rotates, it won't change its dimensions, so it will extend beyond the boundary of the cell. I don't want it to clip, i want it to appear on top, partially obscuring surrounding cells. The second part of this is, if there is one cell that fills the entire window, and I click on the blue rectangle in that cell, can I make the rectangle rotate and extend beyond the sides of the form? If that doesn't make sense, please ask. I'm finding it hard to google because I don't know the exact terms I should be using. Thank you

• posting php variable that contains apostrophe

  I am having trouble posting a php variable to another page. The variable is retrieved from a dropdown selected by the user and if it contains an apostrophe, I only get the part prior to the apostrophe posted. I.E. If I want to post "Cooper's Hawk" I am only receiving "Cooper". How do I escape this properly so that I can post the entire string? This is what I have: echo '<form method="POST" action="advanced_search2.php">'; $dropdown_english_name = "<select class = 'dropdown' name='english_name'> <option>ALL</option>"; $posted_value = ($_POST['english_name']); echo;$posted_value;die; So, to clarify from the above code, the posted string is "cooper's hawk" but the echoed output is "Cooper". • How can I learn a multitouch screen's communication protocol and write a C# application for it?

  I have got a monitor with multitouch overlay on top of it. It works fine with Windows 7 but I want to write a multitouch application in C# for Windows XP which doesn't support touch feature out of the box. There is no documentation whatsoever and I emailed the manufacturer but never got a reply. However the device works with Google Earth, which doesn't natively support multitouch, on Windows XP. So I think it generates many types of messages together i.e. WM_TOUCH for Windows 7, one for Google Earth COM API, and probably its own messages either in UDP or Windows message form. How can I trap all communications and learn the protocol?

• Can Cython compile to an EXE?

  I know what Cythons purpose is. It's to write compilable C extensions in a Python-like language in order to produce speedups in your code. What I would like to know (and can't seem to find using my google-fu) is if Cython can somehow compile into an executable format since it already seems to break python code down into C. I already use Py2Exe, which is just a packager, but am interested in using this to compile down to something that is a little harder to unpack (Anything packed using Py2EXE can basically just be extracted using 7zip which I do not want) It seems if this is not possible my next alternative would just be to compile all my code and load it as a module and then package that using py2exe at least getting most of my code into compiled form, right?

When i echo the $sql, all the values are set properly. and when i ech the $result i get the value 1. can someone please tell me what am i doing wrong here??

  After some searching i figured out how dragdrop is implemented for a picturebox. But there is one thing - the (inherited of course) allowdrop property isn't accessible from code or property window of picturebox class. So to make it work i added following line to my form-load: ((Control)pictureBox1).AllowDrop = true; Why do i have to do that? In msdn it says: "This API supports the .NET Framework infrastructure and is not intended to be used directly from your code." Any explanation appreciated and sorry for my grammar ;)

  greetings! i have a C# game program that im developing. it uses sound samples and winsock. when i test run the game most of the audio works fine but from time to time if it is multiple samples being played sequentially the application form shakes a little bit and then goes back to its old position. how do i go about debugging this or present it to you folks in a manageable manner? im sure no one is going to want the whole app code in fear of virus attacks. please guide me.. thanking you. EDIT: i have not been able to pin down any code section that produces this result. it just does and i cannot explain it. EDIT: no the x/y position are not changing. the window like shakes around a few pixels and then goes back to the position were it was before the shake.

  If I have a DataGrid in a XAML form, and add the following style: <Style TargetType="Button"> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="2"/> </Style> The data grid locks up the application. I found if I put the style into a resource block that isn't seen by any data grid, then it seems to be happy. However, if I want to have the style above applied to all buttons on my window, I have to put it in various resource blocks that cannot be seen by the data grid. Is there any way to avoid this?

  I know that mySQL 5.x does not support INTERSECT, but that seems to be what I need. Table A: Products (p_id) Table B: Prod_cats (cat_id) - category info (name, description, etc) Table C: prod_2cats (p_id, cat_id) - many to many prod_2cats holds the many (1 or more) categories that have been assigned to Products (A). Doing a query/filter lookup, (user interactive) and need to be able to select across multiple categories the products that meet ALL the criteria. Ex: - 80 products assigned to Category X - 50 products assigned to Category Y - but only 10 products (intersect) are assigned to BOTH cat X AND cat Y This sql works for one category: SELECT * FROM products WHERE p_show='Y' AND p_id IN ( SELECT p_id FROM prods_2cats AS PC WHERE PC.cat_id =" . $cat_id ." <-$cat_id is sanitized var passed from query form . I can't seem to find the means to say ' give me the intersect of cat A and cat B' and get back the subset (10 records, from my example) Help!
