    I am working on an android application in which i have to play random sounds from my assets folder. there are some images also, when i click on any image from those images a sound must play regarding to that image from assets folder. i managed all but sometime my mediaplayer fails unexpectedly.   • Load balancing without a load balancer?

    I have 4 nginx-powered image servers on their own subdomains which users would access at random. I decided to put them all behind a HAProxy load balancer to improve the reliability and to see the traffic statistics from a single location. It seemed like a no-brainer. Unfortunately, the move was a complete failure as the load balancer's 100mbit port was completely saturated with all requests now going through it. I was wondering what to do about this - I could get a port upgrade ($$) or return to 4 separate image servers that are randomly accessed. I thought about putting HAProxy on each image server which would in turn route to another image server if that server's nginx service was having trouble. What would you do? I would like to not have to spend too much additional money.

  • Source of Unexplained Requests in Server Logs

    Hi, I am baffled by some entries in my server logs, specifically the web-server logs. Other than normal, expected traffic, I have noticed three types of request errors (eg 404, etc.): Broken links, ie links from old, external pages that point to pages that are no longer here Sequences of probes, ie some jerk trying to hack in by scanning my server for a series of exploitable admin type pages and such What appear to be completely random requests for things that have never existed on the server or even have anything to do with the server, and appear by themselves (ie not a series of requests like the probes) Could it somehow be a mistyped URL or IP? That’s about the only thing that I can think of, but still, how could I get a request on say, foobar.dyndns.org (12.34.56.78) for something like www.wantsfly.com/prx2.php or /MNG/LIVE or http://ant.dsabuse.com/abc.php?auth=45V456b09m&strPassword=X%5BMTR__CBZ%40VA&nLoginId=43. (Those are a few actual requests from my logs.) Can someone please explain scenario three to me? Thanks.

  • My site was recently attacked. What do I do?

    This is a first for me. One of the sites I run was recently attacked. Not at all an intelligent attack - pure brute force - hit every page and every non-page with every extension possible. Posted with garbage data to every form and tried to post to some random urls too. All tod, 16000 requests in one hour. What should I do to prevent/alert this kind of behavior? Is there a way to limit the request/hr for a given ip/client? Is there a place I should be reporting the user to? They appear to be from China and did leave what seems like a valid e-mail.

  • How can I share Configuration Settings across multiple projects in Visual Studio?

    Ok I know this may be a design issue, so I would love to have remarks on that as well. I have a Visual Studio web application solution. I have three projects as UserInterface, BusinessLogic and DataAccess. I had to store some user defined settings and I created configSections in the config file. I access these configSections through classes which inherit from .NET's ConfigurationSection base class. So in short for every project I had a separate configSection and for that corresponding configSection I had a class in that project inheriting from ConfigurationSection to access the config section settings. This works all sweet. But the problem arises if there is any setting which I need to use across multiple projects. So If I need to use a setting defined in UserInterface project configSection in, let say, BusinessLogic project I have to actually make a copy of that setting in the BusinessLogic's configSection. This ends up having the same setting copied across multiple configSections. Isn't this a bit too redundant?

There seems to be tons of articles and ideas, but am very confused and it seems that things are changing as well. A lot say to use offline-access but that appears to be going away. I did find this article. Does anyone have an example using the PHP SDK?     We are looking for a great commercial or free tool which can monitor all our remote employees and keep the reports centrally. We need it similar to Elance WorkView or oDesk "Team Room", what these tools do is: Take screenshots at random interval. Track the activity on computer based on key strokes. (not a necessity) It doesn't necessarily need to track time but will be good to have, our aim is to monitor employees and make sure they're working - that's all. I'll give oDesk Team Room 10/10 and I haven't been able to find such tool. Is there anyone who can suggest such tool? Thanks

    I'd like to know what people consider best practice for securing the Admin sections of websites, specifically from an authentication/access point of view. Of course there are obvious things, such as using SSL and logging all access, but I'm wondering just where above these basic steps people consider the bar to be set. For example: Are you just relying on the same authentication mechanism that you use for normal users? If not, what? Are you running the Admin section in the same 'application domain'? What steps do you take to make the admin section undiscovered? (or do you reject the while 'obscurity' thing)

Here's my problem: how do I access the ArrayBuffer with PHP at the server? I'm used to the $_POST superglobal wanting parameters passing from a HTML form so it can be accessed as an array but I can't find any reference for how to access this binary array and stick it in my MySQL database.

    I had seen some problem on other forum, and i tried to solve them but unsuccesfully, now is too intersting for me and i just need to solve this for my ego... lol Main problem is when snake eat first food, snake added one rectangle, when snake eat second food nothings changed? When snake head position and food position are same, then i try to add another rectangle, i have list where i stored rectangles coordinates x and y. What do you think, how i can to solve this problem?   • Generating custom-form documents from base-form plus XML?

    Hi all, this is my first stack overflow, and it's a complex one. Sorry. My task is to generate custom documents from a basic template plus some XML without having a custom form design element for each case. Here's the whole picture: We are building a Lotus Notes (client, not web) application for world-wide application access control; the scope is something like 400.000 users being able to request access to any of 1000+ applications. Each application needs its own request form -- different number of approvers, various info required, that sort of thing. We simply can't have a thousand forms in a database (one per application), and anyway their maintenance really needs to be pushed from the developers to the application owners. So instead of custom forms, we'd like to create a generic "template" form that stores a block of basic fields, but then allows application owners to define another block of fields dynamically -- "I want a mandatory plain-text field named 'Name' here, and then a date field named 'Due' here that must be later than today's date, and then ...". I hope this makes sense (if not, think of it as a generic questionnaire application). I pretty much have the structure in place for designing the dynamic fields (form builder GUI - XML-encoded data - pre-rendered DXL for injecting into a form), including mark-up for field types, value options, and rudimentary field validation instructions. My problem is generating a document with this dynamic content injected at the proper location (without needing a custom form design element for each case). Doing the dynamic content via HTML is out. The Notes client web rendering is simply way too poor, and it would be quite a challenge to implement things like field validation instructions, date selectors, and name look-ups. DXL, on the other hand, would allow us to use native Notes fields and code. As a tech demo, I've managed to implement a custom form generator that injects the pre-rendered DXL for the dynamic content into a base form; but as I said, we don't want a ton of custom form design elements. I've tried to implement a way to create a document with the "store form in document" flag set, but once I've created the document from the base form, I can't get DXL access to the stored form design, and so I can't inject my dynamic content. I know this is not something Notes was ever intended to do. Has anyone ever tried something like it (and gotten away with it)? Thanks for reading this far. This is just a pseudocode kind of example: f (x,y) { y = y+1; x = x+y; } main() { a = 2; b = 2; f(a+b, a) print a; } When accessing variable x in f, does it access the address of the temp variable which contains the result of a+b or will it access the individual addresses of a and b and then evaluate the value of a+b Please help.   • WPF - Binding a variable in an already bound ListBox?

    I really don't know how to title this question, but I need some help with binding to a ListBox. I have an object, that contains (among other information) 2 properties that need to be bound in one ListBox. One of these is an ObservableCollection of objects, called Layers, and the other property holds an enum value of either Point, Line or Polygon, called SpatialType. These are to act as a legend to a map application. I have bound Layers to a ListBox, no problem, but inside the ListBox.ItemTemplate, I need to bind the single variable SpatialType to every Item in the ListBox. The problem I'm running into is that when I try to bind while inside the ListBox, the only variables I have access to are the properties of each Layer and I can't access any properties of the original bound class that holds the Layers (and the needed SpatialType property). What can I do to get that piece of information bound inside the ItemTemplate without messing up a good MVVM architecture?

Shortly put, it's a routine in a MP3 tagging application that takes a track title and an artist and queries Last.FM for the corresponding album, track no and genre.   • Start jade via batch script as service on windows server 2012 amazon ec2 instance

    I would like to start the Jade agent platform with a batch script on an windows server ec2 instance as a service. The reason for this is, that I want to start jade automatically at system startup. For creating the service I use nssm. However so far its working fine and the service is created. When I want to start the service I get an error message: Windows could not start the NAME service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error... My batch file contains only one line: java jade.Boot -platform-id P%random% If i execute the script via cmd it works fine. Anybody got an idea why this is not working if I start the batch script as a service?

    Dear all, Based on your experience, which is the route to go for a multi-tenant user login? One user login per account. Which means if there is one user that has access to multiple account, there will be redundancy of record in the database One user login for all account that she has privileges to. Which means one user record has access to multiple account if she has privileges to that account. From your experience, which one is better and why? I was thinking to choose the latter, but I don't know whether it will cause security issue or less flexibility. Thank you for sharing your experience.

  • Troubleshoot odd large transaction log backups...

    I have a SQL Server 2005 SP2 system with a single database that is 42gigs in size. It is a modestly active database that sees on average 25 transactions per second. The database is configured in Full recovery model and we perform transaction log backups every hour. However it seems to be pretty random at some point during the day the log backup will go from it's average size of 15megs all the way up to 40gigs. There are only 4 jobs that are scheduled to run on the SQL server and they are all typical backup jobs which occur on a daily/weekly basis. I'm not entirely sure of what client activity takes place as the application servers are maintained by a different department. Is there any good way to track down the cause of these log file growths and pinpoint them to a particular application, or client? Thanks in advance.

  • Why does a zip file appear larger than the source file especially when it is text?

    I have a text file that is 19 bytes in size and having compressed the file using zip and 7zip, it appears to be larger. I had a read of the question on Why is a 7zipped file larger than the raw file? as well as Why doesn't ZIP Compression compress anything? but considering the file is not already compressed I would have expected further compression. Attached is a screenshot. EDIT0 I took the example further by creating a file that contained random data as follows dd if=/dev/urandom of=sample.log bs=1G count=1 and attempted to compress the file using both zip and 7zip however there were no compression gains. Why is that?

    I'm looking for a decent flash video downloader for Firefox. There are tons of them. I'd like to use it for a custom site with some random flash video player, not Youtube. How can it be accomplished? Edit: None of these methods you guys suggested worked so far; I looked up various places where the temporary file might end up - it just doesn't. It is indeed a flash player, but it seems like it's not caching - is that possible?
