    1st time with Esxi 5.0, I have read the whitebox hcl and it states my box as compatible (Dell 960 Optiplex), I burnt Esxi install onto a cd and booted off it (without changing anything in bios) I only had a sata ssd connected, a usb flash 4gb (which i would have installed esxi on), It started loading fine and half way through it dumped a purple / pink screen with : GP Exception 13 World 2157 This system have 5GB RAM (2x2GB and 1x1GB), Intel VT is active in bios, Any suggestions or thoughts ? Will be grateful for your support Kind regards

    I'm having an issue running Windows XP professional guests using Vmware workstation 7.0.0 build-203739 in a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit host. My platform is a Dell Studio XPS 13 with 6GB RAM with an x64 processor. The VMWare freezes for up to 90s every 15 - 20 minutes, then just carries on as if nothing happened! I've no idea what the problem is ... Any idea?

  • Install MegaCli to Monitor Perc 5/i in Nexentastor 3

    I have a Dell 2950 with a Perc 5/i Raid controller that we've already installed Nexentastor 3 Community Edition on. We setup a raid-10 array that and put a ZFS pool on top of the hardware. As I understand, in this configuration ZFS/Nexentastor will not be able to tell when a disk fails in the array. Obviously, this is not optimal. Since the Dell Perc 5/i controller is a rebranded LSI controller, you should be able to use the MegaCli utility to manage the array and monitor its condition. I had seen in a separate forum that the Perc 5/i is very similar to the LSI MegaRAID 8480E, so I tried installing the MegaCli utility at the link below.   • Lion built-in VPN client times out connecting to Windows 2003 PPTP server

    I have a new iMac with OS X 10.7 (Lion) on it that refuses to connect to a PPTP-based VPN server (running Windows 2003 SBS). To shortcut past a lot of questions: There is a Dell workstation running Windows 7 on the same LAN as the Mac that is able to establish a PPTP connection to the same VPN server using the same credentials. That would seem to rule out any possible problems with the server, the port forwards on the server's firewall, the internet connection between the two, and the router local to the Dell and iMac. I've tried completely deleting the entire VPN "connection" from the Network prefpane and recreating it from scratch. I am certain the connection details are correct because they exactly match what successfully connects from the Win7 machine sitting next to the iMac. Any suggestions?

  • LSI MegaRAID Expected Chip Temperature?

    We recently built a replicating SAN array from 2x Dell R720XD's, we are using LSI 9270-8i MegaRAID cards with CacheCade 2.0, BBU and Write Back cache enabled. Our cards are showing HUGE chip temperatures (97*C+ with NO disk activity!). Our R720's are in auto temp management mode so the max exhaust temp is 50*C. The MegaRAID cards are passively cooled and depend on good airflow to cool them - however is 97*C normal? - I have seen reference to 60*C max ambients but nothing for chip temp.

    ipmiutil complains it doesn't find ipmidrv.sys I see it's on \windows\system32\drivers directory, also on \windows\system32\ipmi directory. But, the driver doesn't appear on the output of driverquery command. Any hint on how to enable it? The hardware is a Dell 1950

  • Is the Intel Core i5 mobile processor better than the Intel Core i7 mobile processor?

    I'm shopping for a new laptop from Dell (going to install Ubuntu on it) and I'm currently trying to sort out which processor I want. Based purely on the clock speed, it would seem that the core i5 is better than the core i7. The Intel® Core™ i5-430M has a 2.26GHz clock speed, while the Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Quad Core Processor only has a 1.6GHz clock speed. Would this not indicate that the i5 is faster than the i7?

  • Change Bitlocker to use the TPM plus a USB key and a PIN

    I have bitlocker running on Windows 7 (x86) on a Dell D630 laptop (it has a 1.2 TPM). It is running in transparent mode. I'd like to know how to configure it to use a PIN and a USB key as well, but I can't find anything that looks like it does this in the UI. Does anyone know how to do this? Do I have to remove bitlocker and re-enable it?? (This should be possible according to this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitLocker_Drive_Encryption)

  • How do you configuring vlans/trunk on a Cicso ASA 5510

    I have a Cicso ASA 5510 that I want to connect to 2 Dell PowerConnect 5500 linked in a Switch Stack. I want to connect a trunking line to each switch so if one switch dies the other works. The problem is I can't seem to do anything thing with vlans on the 5510 using the "Cisco ASDM 6.4 for ASA" . Do I need to use CLI for this, or is it just not possible? I'm new at networking so any advice would be helpful.

    I want to setup a kvm-based LTSP appliance with Ubuntu 10.04 (server/desktop for ltsp) on a Dell PowerEdge 2900 for ~10-15 clients. People will mostly use Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice and Qcad. Does someone have any experience with this setup? I've had a similar setup with VMware Server 2 and Ubuntu 8.04.
